The pistachio pasta is delicious, very creamy. I did ask the waitress if the pasta was home made, and she said no. The pasta of the day is home made tho. I had the tuna tartare and the beef tartare, I wasn't a fan of the texture of the beef tartare. The peach belini definitely tasted strongly of peach. read more

This place was fantastic. We found it online as a strong recommendation, and came on one of our final days in Italy. We came right around opening so were able to get a walk in table without a reservation. The staff were all super friendly and helpful throughout the night. The complementary bread here was probably the best one we had from every single restaurant we ate at in Italy. We shared a bottle of wine, and ordered a variety of dishes to share. We got the pistachio pasta, gnocchi with duck, ravioli, tuna plate, truffle lasagna, and fried platter. Amongst the items we ordered, standouts were definitely the pistachio pasta, gnocchi, and tuna. They were so perfectly textured and flavored, and we thoroughly enjoyed them all! A little further than where our hotel was but it was a good excuse to take a water taxi and explore a different area of the city and I am so so glad we did. The menu is very seafood forward, which I appreciated. There were tons of things we wanted but ultimately we went with: - Scallops in their own shell: Plump, buttery, perfectly seasoned. And beautifully served - Paccheri "Nevodi": The prawns were adorably hiding in these delicious noodles that I wasn't so familiar with. Delicious prawns they were! - Purple gnocchi with scampi/scallops: I mean anything that has truffle on it will ultimately get 5/5 stars from me. I would eat this sauce on anything. - Cuttlefish with polenta in its own ink: I think this is a super creative dish and many would love, but the texture of it and the taste of the ink was not my jam. The polenta was delicious, though. Got a bottle of white wine which came with an adorable freezing bag. Sat outside on such a lovely night, which is absolutely the way to go. The tables seemed cramped but really the service is so attentive they work everything out so you certainly don't feel cramped. This restaurant was recommended by a young local Venetian who was our tour guide. We called to make early reservations and they graciously accommodated a party of six. The weight staff was excellent explained everything in English and was very helpful to order and also very entertaining as well. We all ordered a prima Plata and Secondi Plata and the servings were moderate to large and everything was delicious. The seasoning preparation and presentation was amazing for a very small restaurant. The wines are very reasonably priced and we enjoyed regional wines both red and white. I think we were one of maybe two very few tourist and clearly a lot of locals frequent this establishment and about an hour after we were seated at 6 PM. The restaurant was packed and stayed packed until we left about 8 PM. Several people came in and were turned away due to the fact that they were full so reservations are highly recommended. read more

We discovered it by first going to their pizzeria, it was so good that when we were told of the family's sit down restaurant, we had to go. The food was delicious and used fresh, quality ingredients in inventive ways. Nevodi was our first "proper" meal in Italy. After reading all the tips for avoiding tourist traps and finding authentic restaurants, this was my pick. We made a reservation ahead of time, which was easy to do on their website. Upon arrival we were seated promptly and given menus. Out server spoke English quite well, so I didn't really get to practice my Duolingo Italian. Alas. We ordered some local wine and got the mussels to share. They were a fresh and delicious way to start the meal. Albeit a bit tricky to share. I really wanted to stick to seafood, but I was intrigued by the duck ravioli. Especially because the table next to us (Italians) ordered the duck ravioli - every one of them! And I'm so glad I did - it was marvelous! They were perfectly cooked with beautiful, subtle flavours. My friend ordered the pasta of the day, which is supposed to have some fish, but it was pretty sparse. It was delicious, but not quite what she was expecting. The menu is quite eclectic with some interesting options that we didn't see elsewhere on the remainder of the trip. Overall it was about 100€ for two, and I'd say it was definitely worth it! We ended out meal with a tiramisu and it was incredibly fluffy and light and a perfect end to the meal. read more

Judging a book by its cover, I might not have stopped here normally, but it was late in the afternoon, I was on my way to the Biennale, and I needed to eat something. There was an American couple next to me and I asked him how his Spaghetti Vongole was. That sparked a conversation, and they told me they had eaten here several times during their stay - the food was that good. He suggested I try the Raviolacci Osso Buco. It was delicious with a glass of Valpolicella and an Insalata Mista (Italian salads are always so fresh and delicious!) Amazing! One of the best meals in Venice. Castelo is one of my favorite areas-it's quaint and more for locals so be respectful, I'm less fond of crowded touristy areas, and the food isn't nearly as good as places like this. We had the pesto pasta, the purple potato gnocchi and another amazing dish. I don't think you can go wrong here! They have great drinks too! We had a variety of spritz and they were excellent. A delicious gnocchi in a duck ragù and grilled octopus. great wine suggestions and we finished with some delicious grappa. the restaurant was recommended by our native Venetian friend and we further chose the place due to the owner Andrea's hilarious retorts to some of the other rude, entitled reviewers. Andrea and his uncle were extremely accommodating and treated us like family. By the end of the evening we felt like we had made good friends. would highly advise anyone looking for an authentic meal in a non-tourist part of the city. We came here with high expectations based on the glowing reviews. We may have had bad luck but for the price I'd give it to 2.5 stars. The mixed fried fish platter and the grilled octopus were no better than at any food truck or roadside shack in the US - and when I go there, I expect salty, fried and not much else, to be washed down with Bud Light, for 1/3 of the price. I have a hard time believing that this was all fresh. For antipasti we had scallops (5$/piece), and these were ok but certainly not as good as in Maine (that's my reference) - they were a bit more greasy than needed for my taste. The item that was most hyped by the waiter (and reviewers), who was friendly but forgetful (I've never had to remind one for BOTH water and wine...) was the pistachio pesto pasta, and it was good. But not enough to make up for long waits in the hot weather (water...). Lastly, I understand that Euro hipsters are unafraid of Covid, but it would have been a nice touch for wait staff to wear masks (like they do in any other restaurant in Venice these days). We sat outside, so not worth making a fuss about for me. Might be relevant for others. read more

(Rome Florence & Venice) This place came highly recommended by our Italian friend we met in Rome, and boy did it live up to the hype!
