One star, and only because zero isn't an option. Walked in at 12:30 on a weekday with two friends. All we wanted was a table and a cold drink. We sat down and the host came over immediately to tell us to get up, because every table was reserved. Meanwhile I counted at least eight of them sitting empty. We ended up standing in a tight little area next to the restrooms. The beer was no better. The taps clearly aren't maintained. It took three glasses of foam before anything resembling an actual pour came out, and what we finally got was flat. The service somehow got worse from there. The host and the bartenders gave their full attention to the two occupied tables and completely ignored everyone standing with a drink in hand. Not a check in, not a "can I get you anything else," nothing. We were there twenty minutes and not one of those reserved tables ever filled up. Here's the part that should bother the owner: we would have ordered another round. So would the group of four who got the same speech about not sitting down and left instead. That's two tables of revenue out the door in under half an hour, in an empty bar, to protect reservations that never showed. If the plan is table service and a reservation book, fine, but then don't call yourself a pub. People come to a pub to sit down and drink a beer that isn't flat. read more

I am just very hurt to see how a bar owner treats a customer, a young woman traveling solo that had too many drinks because they were irresponsable for taking advantage of her money. After she started feeling sick they kicked her out by force instead of calling an uber or assisting her to get home safe. Let's be clear she did not fight anyone or had any disorderly conduct. She shared her scary experience on social media using her freedom of speech and they humiliated her and harassed her. It was the best espresso martini we've ever had, I'm still dreaming about it now!! After a day of walking through the corn maze alleys in Venice, we stopped in this pub and my husband was in heaven! It's welcoming inside and the bartenders are friendly. I stumbled upon this place by accident, and after a day trudging though the alleys of Venice, this pub was a Godsend. Seriously, considering that Venice only something like two pubs in the city, the Devil Forest Pub is nothing short of an oasis beer and cheer. The owner will be quick to point out that it is an Italian bar and not a British bar. Well, that's ok with me, because if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it's a British pub. I mean it checked off all the boxes in my pub wishlist: proper bar and bar stool (check), sports on the TV (check), unpretentious clientele (check), pub grub (check), and a relaxing good time (check, check) So if you're looking for a little slice of pub heaven this is rally the only game in Venice. A pretty good representation of an English pub. The air conditioning vent is near the back of the bar, we stood there because the place was still a little too warm for our liking on a July night. Staff was very helpful and allowed us in at 1457. 3 minutes before closing restaurant services. They provided good service and good food. The only down side is that this is a cash only place.
