Ok, in contrast to our previous Irish/Cuban pub, this feels a bit better... Original owner was Irish, sold it to a Venetian then headed to Rome to do it all again! Food (panini, toast) if you need to soak it up...

Typical Irish pub in Europe. Drinks are overpriced, 6.50 euro for a Guinness. But being located in the heart of the tourists, it makes sense. The bar does have a few nice TVs if you are looking to catch a match. Very conveniently located

Well, I wrote the review AFTER I ordered the beer for creeks sake!

Great spot to escape the sweltering summer heat. Good beer list with lots of cocktails and plenty of TVs to catch a game.

Great place to have a spritz and a Genovese sandwich. It was toasted like a panini. Also very economical. Nice clean bathroom.

Small Irish pub with all the beers. Great sandwiches and reasonably priced. Friendly staff.

(You would've thought USA vs Italy would've attracted more local attention.) SL was a tiny place, but thankfully mostly empty; we plopped ourselves down and ordered some cold beers (pilsner for me, it being a hot afternoon). They had a decent beer list here - several standard styles from the British isles. I noted they also had some locally made brews (I didn't try them) plus Guinness (a necessity for such a place). The vibe wasn't very Irish beyond the decor and dark interior. The bartender was playing some euro pop on the sound system. Snacks were offered - mostly bread rolls, small sandwiches, and cuts off some oblong pizzas. We sampled a few of the latter to go with our beers. (They were OK.) As for the volleyball, the USA got spanked. Thankfully no celebration from the other side; most of the other patrons were either Americans or Brits. And the Italian bartender didn't seem to care. It's not clear why so many previous patrons have awarded a full 5 stars for SL. (Vacation glee?) For us it met a basic need but was priced high for tourists. I'll give them three stars, plus one extra for offering the game.

Played nothing but American music while we were here. Mostly 90s grunge and classic rock. Right up my alley! They have a full bar and can make pretty much anything you want. The taps are flowing with authentic Italian beers! Overall, I had fun and would recommend it.

The owner who often is standing outside gave us his card and said if we come back later for dinner they'd make sure to find us a spot and they kept their word! As soon as we showed up they made sure to get us a table and everyone was friendly and attentive. The bruschetta was delicious and so was our dinner and dessert. The restaurant was elegantly decorated but was also a perfect environment for families. We will definitely be going back again, e Grazie mille Pietro per la tua ospitalità!

Times have changed…read more We came to this restaurant a few times in the past 2-3 years. Despite other negative feedback we ended up always happy with both the food and the staff. We mostly come in fall...maybe better than in the high season. So naturally we came back for dinner here this fall. But boy, did we get disappointed this time. Staff was fine though, but they didn't seem too happy. Of course 2020 has taken its toll or/and they knew that their standard has dropped. One could see by the looks of the main dishes that this wasn't prepared by the same cook as the other times we came. And the lack of any flavour just confirmed it. The starter - fried seafood - was a big let-down already. Soggy and bland. It's hard to mess up a fried dish, but they surely did. Lobster pasta and Spaghetti Vongole for the main. Bland sauce, cheap-quality vongole and just no flavours at all. Where's the seafood broth where the pasta should've been cooked in? And then every Italian's nightmare: the pasta was overcooked. And if you overcook pasta in Italy you have clearly lost. I don't know who's in the kitchen, but every real Italian wouldn't...well COULDN'T mess pasta up that badly. The wine was ok, a bit pricey, but that wasn't news. Too bad, we really liked this restaurant before. But this was definitely the last visit here.
