Complimentary bar bites. Keep in mind your actual drink will cost you at the very least €10

As everyone that knows me can attest to, I love my rooftop bars. It's greatly amplified when you combine my love of traveling, and Venice is one of the most romantic cities in the world. Along with a gondola ride I was going to splurge on a drink with a great view. I fell into the trap willingly. LOCATION: It's the rooftop bar of the Hilton Molino Stucky in Giudecca Island. Being in Giudecca it's not considered one of the sestiere proper but there's a complimentary shuttle for hotel customers (whom many not necessarily be a hotel guest) and it's also pretty close to a vaporetto stop. VENUE: The rooftop bar overlooks the Giudecca Canal. It's larger than the Grand Canal and on a given day you'll see lots of vaporetto, Alilaguna boats, ferries and other commercial boats pass by. It's a great way to pass the time. SERVICE: Excellent. Approachable and they'll approach you in English. If you choose to pay with credit card they'll bring the card reader to you (which is standard in European countries). The specialty here is a cocktail bar. Please don't cheat yourself by getting a bellini or spritz. Save that for Venice proper and get yourself a *real* cocktail. Keep in mind you'll spend at least €15 on it, but this splurge certainly beats the view restaurants you'll see along the Grand Canal or on St. Mark's Square where the food/drink can be questionable in addition to your cover charge. Think of it this way: the expense is essentially your cover charge and the drink is at least of decent quality. I got their version of the "Dark and Stormy" (Rum Havana Club selecion de Maestros, fresh lime juice, ginger beer, Scuro Myer's Rum, angostura bitters). A "Dark and Stormy" is a mule with rum instead of vodka. It's a clean cocktail as it uses Havana Club rum, which is sadly still unavailable in the US. They were also a bit strong on the rum and light on the ginger. It was mentioned in the menu that it would be a spicy cocktail but I thought it was mild; then again I've had my fair share of spicy cocktails. Bar bites consisted of spicy peanuts and olives, which was noted by the waiter to be spicy. They were ok and the olives were a bit tough and dry. CAUTION: Just like everywhere else in Venice, be careful of the pigeons. As I was taking a picture of the view two pigeons started diving towards my uneaten peanuts, which had to be replaced. Forget pickpocketers, I'm more bothered by the pigeons! Go for the view, stay for a drink. One drink is plenty. Although pricey, I don't regret doing this experience. I've had better cocktails and I've had better views of cities (Mandarin Oriental Tokyo comes to mind) but if I'm only in Venice once I'm glad to have checked this off my list.

Skyline Rooftop Bar is quite a long ride of a trek away from the main island, so no one stumbles across it accidentally; you have to set out to come here. The reason my friend and I embarked for this place was the views; we had read that they were pretty spectacular. They are rather lovely, but not so compelling that they fully compensate for the sub-par cocktails and music. The Muzak (it's not really music) gets annoying when you here it in the elevator on the way up; it doesn't get any better when you discover that's all they play inside. As for the cocktails, the views are priced into them; they're also weak and overly original in a bad way - it seemed to me like Skyline's take on various classic cocktails was decidedly not an improvement... Bottom line: This could be a really nice place to come and enjoy a drink while relaxing and experiencing some truly world-class views, but not when the drinks are mediocre, and the music makes you want to run for door.

Let me start by saying the service is amazing! I didn't have a reservation but the host allowed me to sit at the bar tables I am vaccinated so I had no issues. I went all out and spoiled myself with the raw platter! It's a must have if your traveling summer! The chef came out Peter is his name to let me know where the raw shrimp came from is was amazing almost Like butter! The drinks are amazing the bartered works hard and is an expert! The host and the staff are attentive and friendly and helpful. Can't go bad. Please make reservations before hand!! Just to ensure a sunset seating!

We were staying at the Hilton so this was a must stop. I ordered the Summer Cup and it was fabulous. The ambiance was casual but upscale. We were tourists in jeans and converse shoes and didn't feel out of place alongside people dressed for a nice evening. The service was great. We were seated at a comfy couch. The drinks are on the pricey side but you are paying for the ambiance of a rooftop bar. Drinks were around 20 Euro each. This place would be a perfect place to end a romantic evening.

We were on the Giudecca Island and stopped in to go to the Skyline Rooftop Bar of the Hilton Molino Stucky Hotel. The hotel is a converted flour mill and it is stunning. The Skyline Bar is on the top floor and is a great place to enjoy cocktails, appetizers, or light snacks. The real plus is the view - an amazing panoramic view of Venice from the Giudecca Canal to Piazza San Marco.

On a previous summer trip here, because La Giudecca is where we stay when we're in Venice, I'd have given this a 5 star rating for certain. The service was great, drinks very interesting, and the price for the drinks were worth it for the spectacular view and atmosphere. During that trip, we came here on three separate nights. The only reason for the drop to four stars this time was that a visit in March did not result in us sitting outside, so clearly, no view. The interior has more of a club-like feel, and service felt sub-par on this trip, as well. Absolutely worth a stop if you visit when it's nice out and you can sit outside!

Pros: - Cool outdoor ambiance. - Great place to watch the sunset. - Trendy uplighting after dark. Cons: - The cocktails here were very subpar. My drink had so much ice that it melted and watered down the flavor of the drink within 10 minutes considering this was an outdoor bar on a hot day. My wife's drink was not memorable either. Disappointing for an upscale establishment such as this one. - The service is extremely slow. It was 25 minutes before we even saw a drink menu. - The drinks are pricey, but again, this is nothing new in Venice. - None of the food looked good enough to try. - The location of this hotel and rooftop bar is not very convenient. It's a 20 minute walk from the closest vaporetto station, unless you pay an $8 upcharge to go directly to and from the hotel. This rooftop bar was not worth the ride here in my opinion.

Beautiful views overlooking the city definitely a must when visiting! Great selection of drinks!

Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Decor & Style: 5/5 Although food and service was only average-above average, I had to give this place an overall rating of 5 stars because it has the nicest rooftop view i've ever seen! Venice, IMO, is the prettiest city I have ever been to (and I mean it HAS to be really nice for me to use the word 'pretty'). The pictures I and others have on here don't even do justice one second to how nice it is in real life. They have views from all angles of Venice. Just look at the pictures, imagine it 10 times nicer, and then drool a little...

Staying at the Hilton molino.... It's on the rooftop looking over all of Venice 360* views, has a good sized pool and is unshaded so can make the most of the Venetian weather. Serves great cocktails and as a Moët bar offers great service and quality.

Outstanding view all over Venezia from this roof top. Nice list of coktails with à genuine Bellini, the local one. Prices are fair for such a classy place. The only issue issue is the lack of heaters during cols season.

Spectacular views across the canal to Venice and the surrounding areas. Drinks are pricey but come out at sunset and splurge.

Situated at the foot of the Ponte dei Frari bridge in a non-touristy, quiet part of Venice, this…read morequaint two-story bar with an inventive cocktail menu is characterized by a mezzanine with black leather booths and beautiful stained glass lamps hanging from the ceiling that opens up to look down on the main room. This is actually a historical Venetian cafe' from 1870's called "Caffe' dei Frari o Toppo"[1], and I remember coming here regularly when I was in college to "study", i.e. to hang out with my friends who would also come here during the day. In fact, this is still a cafe' during the day, but it transforms itself in a cocktail bar at night. The vibe is mellow, relaxed and romantic and this bar prides itself on being one of the few in Venice to serve truly inventive contemporary cocktails. The menu is actually divided by techniques: fermentation, distillation, liquid kitchen, and fat wash. We tried the Cucumber and Fake Rose (fermentation: Fermented cucumber, Andaliman pepper, Lillet, verjus and bubbles) and The Amaz-on Fire (fat wash: Yaguara cachaca, coconut oil, Cynar, dill, house sherry mix and Porcini mushroom; peat perfume). Both were excellent, and were presented in an artful way that doesn't feel pretentious. And if you are hungry, the bar serve their own cichetti (bar snacks). I look forward to coming back next year, and perhaps try one of the food-inspired, liquid kitchen cocktails. ------------------------------- [1] https://www.yelp.com/biz/caffe-dei-frari-o-toppo-venezia

Finally found my other notes for this place. They did really interesting stuff with their sides…read more Very modern, in portion sizes that are approachable. It brings delight and minimizes food waste if guests don't like it. * Le Corsaire: A gorgeous soft green drink. Sweet but not sugary, with a lil bit of spice at the end. It was paired with a blue cheese mousse and honey caviar - I don't know how they did it, but it was delicious. The blue cheese taste makes the mousse pop. * Steven had a cocktail that came with a side of yogurt covered with a soft shell (that acted like a water balloon). * Hispaniola: The drink was smoky and something about it tasted like temptation. Paired with a beautifully done meringue (nice and airy!) and a keyboard-smashingly gorgeous caviar.
