Rome , the eternal city, is filled with tourist, even a low season like March. Service is the best, every waiter, bus man, Maitre , all of them always with the right attitude to their guests. Food is great and unique touch that made every appetizer and main course something to remember. The climatized terrace in a quiet Piazza de San Simeone is the las touch to make it special. So, for us it was one of the best experiences we had in this busy metropolis I will go back

We were thinking lobster tail( American Italian pastry) , but this was superb !!

Delicious! Amazing ! Finally, first good meal In Rome !!! I love yelp, but in Europe you can be fooled ! Tourist traps have 4.5 star reviews with horrible food and here is this gem with 32 reviews !! If not for this restaurant I might have gone back to New York and told people we have better Italian food. Have to admit, we came from the Jewish ghetto( I did not make up the name, it's the area). We tried a highly recommended restaurant there-Tourist trap, not good . We came to taverna Agape not super hungry, but OMG!!! The only thing that would have made our experience better was Luciano Pavarotti singing in the background! Bravo, ragazzi!!! Molto bene!!!

Wonderful evening sitting outside and enjoying the meal and atmosphere. We were well taken care of and the food was delicious and the service excellent. We enjoyed some nice wine , bruschetta , fried artichoke heart to start. Then we each had a bit of pasta carbonara (delectable) and a pasta with meat perfectly herbed and spiced, the pork with apple was also delicious but a tad over cooked. The best tiramisu so far ! Loved the limoncello and port type drink they brought us after dinner!

Came here with two local friends late on a weeknight; they had made a reservation. We got outdoor seating near a fan which was critical for a hot evening. I had the giant beans and then the carbonara pasta. My friends ordered the zucchini flowers and the mushrooms. Hands down the best mushrooms I have ever had in my life. Wow. So much flavor and an interesting texture. The carbonara was amazing and worth every calorie! I liked the beans a lot. They weren't mushy and the menu described them well - with a hint of vinegar. Service was perfect. Bathrooms were clean. I broke my golden rule. The rule: "Never, I repeat never, eat at the same restaurant twice in one vacation." First, it won't be as good. Second, you are missing something else. But I wanted my other cousin to try the carbonara. The rule is wrong. The second meal was equally delicious. The waiter, Vito, said, "trust me" as he lead me to the ice mound of fresh fish and shellfish. And he said if didn't like it, I didn't have to pay. OMG. When he came it check on me, i held up my hand and said, "don't talk to me, I'm eating the best meal!" Wow. I inhaled that plate. One of the best meals of the trip. They also gave us a thing to hang our purse from the table- perfect souvenir that I used the rest of the trip.

THIS IS A TOURIST TRAP. The food is delicious, the ambience is lovely, the service is impeccable, but the prices were outrageous! The waiter was friendly and outgoing, but he tried to sell me a €350 bottle of wine. I "settled" for a €155 which was good, but not worth the price. The oysters were €4.5 each and a fresh snapper, large enough to serve three people was €115! Make sure you ask about the market price before you order! Two plates of sautéed mushrooms were €50 (delicious but not THAT good!) The only reasonably priced dish was the pasta with fresh shaved black truffle. €350 for a three person LUNCH excluding tip (which you don't give anyway) There is just as good food to be had in Rome at much more reasonable prices. And to top it off, the waiter had the nerve to ask me to leave a tip -- no other server during my entire vacation in Rome asked me for a tip! I will NOT be coming back here!

Ask for the Lasagna - you won't be disappointed

Stopped here with a reference from our tour guide and we were not disappointed. So good. One way to describe our experience -"mama mia". Ask for the lasagna and the house wine with the fresh bread. Plan to sit and take in the breathtaking view - perhaps take up a conversation with a nun or a monk, there was a number sitting around us. Just 3 blocks or so from the Vatican. Come here to escape the crowd and be blessed in the richness of Rome.

First dinner in Rome was marvelous. Very close to where I'm staying and plan to come back regularly. I had bruschetta which was a unique take on what I'm used to- so very much appreciated. Then I had Cacio e Pepe and tiramisu. Did not disappoint, hospitality was amazing.

This is consistently one of my favorite places to dine in Rome! The service is always polite and kind. The servers speak enough English, and you cannot beat eating outside in the piazza. I originally found it when I started nearby in the neighborhood. There is always a crowd of both tourists and locals with great taste having the servers bring out dish after dish of delicious looking food. I recommend the pasta gricia, although I have enjoyed many appetizers and pastas there. Dessert and coffee and amari are always great!

We came here because it was in a quiet plaza and we were pleasantly surprised by the delicious food and wonderful service. I had the carbonara and loved it. My friend had the meatballs and really enjoyed them. Will definitely be back.

Not glazed creme Brulee. Tested the top with my fork and it just went right through. Super disappointed.

Awful experience with overpriced and awful food. If I could give zero stars I would! Avoid immediately when trying to find a place to eat! We went to this restaurant by mistake since we thought it was the restaurant with the 'best tiramasu in Rome'. We we walked up and asked the waiter for a table he stared us up and down and said 'oh there is a 15 min wait'...even though there was clearly a table for two outside and Noone was waiting for a table...just us. We think the waiter didn't like the look of us from the beginning since we weren't dress fancy like most people there. We should have left but thought it was the 'best tiramasu' place. We wait for 20 mins then he finally seats us since we didn't go away. We sit down and got greeted by our waitress who was nice and brought us water and a glass of presecco. Okay cool. The rude waiter guy comes over and we said we just wanted to order dessert and he got super rude and said we couldn't do that and we had to order a meal then dinner. We said fine and was about to pay for the water and walk away. Our waitress came back and said oh its okay you guys can order dessert. ( I wish we would have left). So I ordered a creme Brulee and my husband order tiramasu. My creme Brulee is the most disgusting thing I've ever had. It was not made properly since there were still grains of sugar on top that was not glazed over like it's suppose to be. Tiramasu was also awful. We paid 22 euros for both plus water. What a complete rip off...oh and that waiter came by and was like looks like it's your lucky night (since we were able to order just dessert). Such a horrible dining experience. I will never come back here and will tell others to avoid this place. There are better restaurants with better prices and better food.

Lobster flambé was perfectly cooked with right combination of seasonings. A must have for two!

We anticipated crowds and a wait, but there was actually no wait at lunch time and there were actually quite a few open tables. That was a bit of a concern at first (because a line and crowd usually means the place is good), but as I saw (and smelled) food coming out my concerns dissipated! Unfortunately our waiter wasn't able to identify another customer's pasta dish for us, but it all worked out in the end because I ended up loving our choices. We got the carbonara, which was cheesy and tasty,...Everything you want a creamy pasta to be! Pasta is al dente, felt so fresh and if you're from America, you're gonna love this because I felt the difference immediately. The meatballs were soft and tasty. We loved the chicory and potatoes! Those potatoes were so good I would choose them over fries (omg so American I know). I got the Mimi's spritz, which tasted like a Aperol spritz. One of my favorite spritz's of the trip! It's true what they say about Italian ingredients, and the price point is great. I tried some of my friend's Italian soda called Chinotto Neri, it's like a cola but less sweet but still tasty and refreshing. Mimi is a dependable pasta spot, with plenty of menu options for pasta and beverages. If I had more time in Rome I would have certainly returned especially given that they have several locations in the city. Highly recommended!

We first discovered Mimi e Coco years ago with friends, and on our most recent trip this fall, we made a point to visit twice. They now have two locations, and while the quality is incredible at both, we personally prefer the original Via del Governo Vecchio location. It was the first one we ever visited, and it just feels the most intimate and special to us. If you are coming from the States, forget what you think you know about Italian food. This isn't the heavy, over-sauced stuff we get back home. This is authentic Roman cuisine: simple, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The Must-Haves: The Food: You cannot go wrong here, but the Carbonara and the Lasagna are our absolute favorites. They are rich and flavorful without being heavy. The Drinks: Their spritz game is strong. Definitely try the Limoncello Spritz it is the perfect refresher after a day of walking. The Vibe & Logistics: Despite how popular Rome is, this feels like a true local spot rather than a tourist trap. The service is consistently phenomenal warm, welcoming, and fast. However, keep in mind that these are small spots (especially the Governo Vecchio one). I highly suggest making a reservation. If you walk in during rush hour, be prepared for a 30-minute wait (or more), but trust me it is very well worth it. If you want a real taste of Rome, put this at the top of your list!

Verdict: The Ribs were absolutely the best. HUGE and well smoked. They don't really need BBQ sauce, but it makes a good addition. The BBQ sauce is light and different but surprisingly tasty. We…read moretried to hit this place that always seemed to have empty tables, but all of the tables were prenoted. We kept on walking up this small street in Trastevere that we hadn't been before, and it was busy on a Fri night. We ran into (The Duke) totally by chance, bc we saw empty tables inside: We were glad we did. For our primo, we shared a raw artichoke heart salad. For our secondi, ITC had the spaghetti guanciale (no pic), and I had the griglia mixta. Lastly, for our dolce we had a fruity dessert. First of all, the raw artichoke was a nice change of pace vs all the fried carciofi we had been eating. It had a nice texture, and the sweetness of the artichoke contrasted nicely w/ the light, slightly tart dressing. ITC really enjoyed her spaghetti bc it had the pork cheek. I had a bite and thought it was better vs the amatriciana she had in Tivoli. The small amount of guanciale was perfectly balanced against the al dente noodles. Thirdly, my dish of grilled meats was about as Roman as you are going to get. The meats were simply seasoned w/ sale & pepe, and came with a lemon to contrast the savoriness of the meat. There was no side, and I didn't eat the bread like most of the trip, bc I didn't want to waste room. Lastly, the light, fruity dessert was a good way to finish a savory meal. Regarding the ambiance, its rustic in here. Many of the patrons were locals, but there were at some Am tourists wearing workout shorts, T shirts and basketball shoes. By the looks of their bodies, their shoes have never touched a court - Ride da Solo (LOL). The service was good, not great. ITC felt our waiter was a little inattentive, even by Italian standards. BTW, tipping is optional in most of Europe. There is no line for a manchia (gratuity) on the check. However, most waiters/waitresses appreciate a €5 or €10 note, depending upon the size of the check. I highly recommend ID if you are looking for rustic Italian food, on a small street in Trastevere that only has foot traffic. The food is really good, and the ambiance is rustic and tranquil.
