Korean Americans from Los Angeles....we found this gem in Rome and our bellies are grateful for it…read more Italian food is great...but we wanted a change for a meal. Everything we ordered was yummy. From the kimchijun, the mandugook and the kimchijungol (aka budaejigae). Even the homemade banchan were good. Saw our neighbors ordering bulgogi and japchaebap and those dishes looked great too. Being in Rome, we tempered our expectations...any kimchi would suffice, but from the first bite to the last spoonful, this was the taste of home we needed after being in Italy for two weeks. Chang Bai Shan is a MUST stop for any Koreans when visiting Rome.

Place closes at 3pm and reopens at a latter time. We got there at 2pm but food service was very slow. The dishes did taste amazing! It's located in a very busy tourist area do parking was hard to find. You'll need to find street parking and pay the meter. Overall good experience, just service was extremely slow. (There were several tables ahead of us that got their food and almost finished eating before we got our food.) Of course, we pointed and spoke only English as the waitress only spoke Italian or Korean.

If you want good authentic Korean food DO NOT come here. Trust me. I am Korean. Take it from me. I…read moreordered the So Galbi, samgyeopsal, and doenjang jjigae.... They were all bad. Even the side dishes were pitiful. The So galbi was so rubbery and the samgyeopsal does not taste good. They also gave me such a small portion. Furthermore, I could see into the kitchen and I saw them make my doenjang jjigae by putting a frozen block of doenjang from the freezer in there. A good restaurant wouldn't cook their food that way and would only use fresh ingredients. Doenjang is fermented and lasts veeerrrryyyy long in the fridge. Fermented food in general lasts a long time. There's literally no reason to freeze the broth of that soup unless you just can't cook. Ugh wasted money at this restaurant and I really regret my choice. People... listen to me. Need my warning... don't eat here.

This is a great place for Koreans craving Korean food. We ordered the kimchi soup, kimchi seafood pancake, and the pan fried pork and kimchi with tofu. Everything was so delicious! The kimchi was fermented enough to give that sour kick that the soup and the pan fried dish needed in order to feel refreshing. The pancake was crispy and wasn't too salty, which I loved. It was seasoned perfectly that we literally ate the whole thing. The service was great and they were very attentive. They were nice enough to answer any questions we had, especially since we were first time tourists in Rome. I would definitely come back here if I can save enough money to visit Rome again!

On New Year's Day it was difficult to find a restaurant that serves Asian style soups and stews, after much walking and searching we settled for this place steps away from Termini. First thing first, price here is high for sure, especially for those who come from California (or Korea) where Korean food are plenty abundant and accessible. Also be aware that almost everything will be charged separately (including side dishes, water, and rice), something that might feel like nickeling and diming for us who aren't used to it. The food was, price aside, objectively not bad. We had the vegetable pancake, which had good flavor and texture if not for it being a bit too oily. The tofu soup we got was quite bland, but the cod fish stew was good with fresh fish and plenty of vegetable. Side dishes were also surprisingly tasty. On a value per $ basis, definitely not worth it. But if you have no choice and are looking for some Korean fix, this place should do the trick.

This was some of the best Korean food I've had in a long time, and not just by European standards!…read more The soups and stews were hot and refreshing, the fish was super fresh and the pork belly was melt in your mouth delicious! The kim chee was spot on and they gave heaps of it! Everything we had was amazingly delicious and the service was really friendly and prompt. It wasn't hard to find, and the place is clean and homey. Prices are what you'd expect for a meal in Europe, but I feel like they give you so much more! They are not stingy with the portions, just like it should be! The owners are a nice Korean couple bringing in the kids to help with the family business. They will sit and chat with you if it's not too busy and will help you find your way around town if need be. I think we came at least twice, tried for a third but it was far too late to make it, and we were only in town for 4 days! Next time I'm coming here first!
