This review is based off of my first time eating at the new Tavern on Main, and let me tell you that nobody at my table who was dining there tonight had a single bad thing to say about their meal. My boyfriends mom and I had the Main Street Burger but had the patty made with their Beyond Meat meat substitute and we both agreed that it was really, really delicious. My boyfriends brother had the same burger but made with a traditional burger patty and he said that his burger was also really, really good. My boyfriend tried the gnocchi and the corn chowder, both he said were really good, and his dad got the appetizer salmon flatbread as a meal and he was totally blown away by how good it was, and it's definitely big enough to be eaten as a meal. There was nothing left on anyone's plates. The server was really nice as well. We'll definitely be back in to try other items off of their menu, since there were so many things offered that sound really good. We all agreed that we were happy to see a good new restaurant come into Wakefield! read more

This is a great restaurant which Wakefield has been longing for. It has welcoming bar, great food, good service and is kid and family friendly with its. As a parent of a 3 &5 year old which most the time don't even finish their meal we can really Appreciate the reasonable priced kids menu. It's nice to know that my wife and I can go out and enjoy great food with the kids and our total bill would be comparable to Panera. Keep up the great job! read more

The atmosphere was stylish but also friendly and the food was delicious. I had two teenagers who enjoyed the "brunch all day" and I had the salmon. There's not much to say, other than that the food is out of this world, the servers are friendly, and the service is great. Try the white chocolate raspberry waffle if you want breakfast for dinner! Really good casual food. I had the andouille sandwich with the cheese filled tots. Others at the table ordered the burger (large juicy burger with grilled, buttered roll) and a side of fries and the pesto chicken sandwich with fresh fruit (looked excellent), I really enjoyed my meal and my son pounded his burger. Fries were good, but the tots were way better. Portions were not huge but were certainly adequate...it was nice not to feel stuffed walking out. For those who usually go home with the following day's meal, I wouldn't plan on a big doggie bag. read more

We stumbled upon this and it was absolutely wonderful. Fresh with a modern twist, prices are reasonable and it happened to be half price apps and half price sausage Sunday! Come to find out, their sausage is made in house. The entire meal was outstanding, large portions and great service! They also have freshly squeezed lemonade which was quite refreshing. The decor inside is very nice, but I'm glad we decided to sit outside to enjoy the great weather. Their menu is creative, they have a variety of options. No issue with the food, though some of the "super-special" things...weren't. I wouldn't go to any special trouble for the four-cheese tater tots, for example. Lobster roll app was okay. French toast was rich. But being pressed before one's butt had settled into the seat with the whole "sparkling, still or tap" water question -- and well before being able to figure out that still water is a whopping $6 a bottle ($2 a bottle at WalMart, and that's retail, for heaven's sake) -- was not a hallmark of a satisfying experience. Desserts were good. Just a place that seems like it's trying to be a bit yuppier than it is, or maybe should be. read more

Solid 4.5. This is another example of why I don't like the 5 star rating because this place is a solid 4.5 but not a solid 5, yet better than a 4. Here goes: So my girl and I went in yesterday. The service couldn't be friendlier. Everyone. So nice. We went for Happy Hour and got: Lobster lettuce wraps (so good, clean tasting, not overly sauced, nice seasoning), curry meatballs (great), salmon bruschetta (surprisingly good), crab cakes (tasted like a mix between crab cake and a falafel and it worked perfectly), and it happened to be half price bottle of wine. C'mon. We scored big time. So why not the 5? This is tough because I want this place to be more like a tavern, but it has the look of an upscale sports bar. I wish the lights weren't so damn bright, I wish they played more taverny kind of music (Dylan, Van Morrison, Louis Armstrong, you get the picture), and I wish they rusted it up a bit. That's the only thing stopping it from a perfect 5. But I'm so happy I'm staying up the street. This will be a local haunt for me. read more

Really enjoyed our experience. Very interesting menu with many different dishes I wanted to try. Loved that fact that they have brunch all day. We had the charcuterie board with cheese selection and the bacon dip. Both were excellent. Our children both had a Belgian waffle with fresh fruit and we were really surprised in the quality of their meals. Great atmosphere and attentive staff. Very varied draft beer selection. I'm so excited to have a great new resturant near the beaches! We had a drink at the bar while we waited (the wait was reasonable as we did not have a reservation)I had the scallops...the portion was very generous, the parmesan cauliflower was yummy and there was no problem with my having carrots instead of rice. My husband had the fish and chips...he is picky and was VERY pleased! The staff was very friendly and accommodating and on the ride home we put it on our list of "must go again" south county resturants. read more

This was our first time eating here - we had been looking forward to the opening considering the previous establishment left a little to be desired. We started off with two orders of boneless wings - the ginger beer BBQ and the Buffalo; great portions and plenty to go around for 5 people. They were delicious. We also ordered the parmesan truffle fries which were good, but not great - they lacked seasoning. They do not put salt and pepper shakers on the table here which usually indicates that the food is seasoned so well that you don't need them; however, we had to ask for them to season the fries. As far as dinner goes, we had mixed reviews. I had the baked stuffed shrimp (a crabmeat stuffing) which came with broccolini and saffron rice. It was a good portion (4 huge shrimp) but absolutely everything on the plate was bland. The stuffing had no flavor at all - the shrimp was overcooked, the broccoli tasted like oil, and the saffron rice was flavorless. I ate 1 shrimp and gave the other 3 away. Everyone agreed that the shrimp had no taste. I tried a taste of my husband's fish and chips and the fish was moist and the coating crunchy; however, it needed seasoning as well. It is supposed to be an herb crust but I couldn't taste the herbs. I was also surprised that neither the fish nor the shrimp came with a lemon garnish. I had asked for lemon and our waiter brought sliced lemons from the bar which are nearly impossible to squeeze over your food. The other meals ordered were the steak w/ a blue cheese crumble, the gnocchi pesto and the burger - all received good reviews and were gobbled up. Considering I didn't eat dinner I couldn't resist ordering dessert especially considering they had one of my favorite desserts on the menu, a chocolate chip brioche pudding. We ordered two for the table - it was absolutely delicious. We will go back and give it another try but I definitely won't be ordering the shrimp. read more

This doesn't really even deserve one star. To start off,I was served cranberry juice in a tiny glass while my younger brother got his Shirley temple glass medium-sized. Then, the chicken Parmesan I got was shaped like a thick rock and was scalding hot. In fact, the pasta was so scalding hot I didn't even notice how the tomato sauce didn't even taste like tomato sauce, rather like if they figured someone would be allergic to tomato sauce and made it with fake crap from Walmart or something. My brother ordered chicken fingers that came in the shape of round balls smaller than the palm of his hand, so it was more like infant-sized, if you ask me. His fries were fine, but the ketchup tasted like counterfeit ketchup. Where do you even get your sauce? And my father's chicken pesto sandwich was the worst item. He told me he thought he was unable to cut it, and at first I thought because he was old he was just having a hard time as usual. Then I tried to cut it myself, but I could not get through the rubbery plastic of a chicken. Also, he only was able to take one bite. And the pesto was all on the top bun, not on the chicken. And his mashed potatoes were in smaller portion than one piece of my brother's chicken "fingers," and we're as dry as chalk dust. Also, as a side note, why are your water glasses like shot glasses? They are so tiny. Very weird. I really wish the Saltwater Tavern was there again. At least they had REAL food. read more
