I was so very impressed with his professionalism and warm friendly attitude from the minute he stepped foot in our place to give us a very reasonable estimate to the hand shake and smile when the move was all completed. This is t the 5th or 6th time I have used Tavares Packing and Loading and I have never been disappointed. ...as others have posted Eddie, Kevin, and this time I met, Steve another son of Eddies! They work as a team, always professional, AND quick but they take care with all of your things, wrapping things I did not think needed to be wrapped. They are the best deal in town. This move was due to my losing my lease on the office I currently was occupying. Eddie came with a smile on his face and when I asked if he could store my office furniture for a couple of weeks he replied "of course". The crew of workers were respectful, hard working, good guys, that did the job in a timely fashion and also with care and courtesy towards our possesions. They didn't rush the job but were quick at it. The rates that were charged were competitive an very reasonable. The minimum 2 hour charge is perfect in my opinion, as another moving business wanted a minimum of 3 hours for instance. And on top of everything after we had given one of the workers our TV stand, we in the rush of moving forgot we had all of our remotes and he brought them back for us. These guys are the REAL DEAL!! I had Eddie and his crew move us from Salinas to Monterey yesterday and they are fast, efficient, and professional. Even though we were on the fence about moving, Eddie still took the time to come out and give us a moving quote. He promised that his crew was like a big family and they really enjoy what they do. I can tell you that he was 100% correct. We are so happy that we used them. All of his team wore a Tavares T-Shirt and greeted me, my wife, and our baby. They really did seem to enjoy what they were doing and worked together like a well-oiled machine. Eddie stuck to the quoted price except a minor charge for some extra things he took which I added at the last minute, but he was more than willing to take them and I was happy to pay the extra price since it was my mistake. During our move a few years ago from Carmel Valley to Pacific Grove, we ended up putting a bunch of our belonging into storage. In early 2017 we got a notice that our storage fees were going to increase astronomically. In a panic to get out by the end of the month, we managed to get everything out except for a giant 60" stove range that we could not move. I called Eddie and he got the stove out that day!! I highly recommend Tavares moving. These guys provide excellent service for a very reasonable cost. Here is the story: I asked for several quotes to move a 1 bedroom condo from Monterey to Salinas (long story) and they provided a very reasonable price and were available to do it the very next day! They were on time, courteous and careful with my stuff (including an extremely heavy 8 person solid marble dinning table and some valuable art work) from a second story location. As they were finishing I remembered that I hadn't asked at all about the garage which was 3/4 full of stuff including industrial shelving and a large workbench...it was so much stuff that it required a second trip to Salinas as I had to rent a storage unit. Yet, they refused to increase their quoted price!!! (I tipped them $20 each as that's all the cash I had on me but feel guilty and will send them a little extra to buy them lunch). In any case I was surprised they had a bad review here...seems like that person didn't like something Eddie said...I thought he was great but to each their own. Dave and Matthew were professional but funny with great personalities all while being super efficient, they just didn't stop. Please do not use Tavares to pack or load. I've never left a bad review on Yelp before but this was such a horrible experience. They packed and loaded our house in Santa Cruz on 4/22/17 onto a moving truck that we rented for a cross country move. They showed up a man short and little to no packing materials (which they guaranteed they would have). The crew seemed very inexperienced in preparing and protecting furniture properly for a move. We had to hurry and go to Home Depot and buy our own packing blankets, boxes, etc. They did not properly wrap or pack our furniture so everything including our rugs, sofa, and recliner was black and dirty by the time it reached its destination. The worst was that they taped pieces of paper to my daughter's brand new white bedroom furniture which left huge marks of brown tape that won't come off, and they dented this same furniture. Spare yourself the time and money spent on trying to repair and clean your furniture and use another moving company. read more

Eddie impressed at the onsite estimate. He was professional and knowledgeable and explained how the move would work as we walked through my house. I created a Yelp account specifically so that I could share my extremely positive experiences with Tavares Packing and Loading. I received prompt attention as soon as I called and the company had a representative come out the next day for an estimate. I had to move a fully-loaded four-bedroom house with a garage packed full of stuff on short notice due to owners moving back into the home. With previous moves, my experience has been that it takes packers two days to pack out and one day to load out for a home this size. It only took Tavares one day to pack out and the quality of the pack out was superb. They used all new packing materials and enough paper to protect all valuables properly. Packers were professional, in-house employees, extremely friendly and experienced. The load out and move day went smoothly as well. A larger team was used, and once again, all employees were dressed professionally, extremely polite, and very experienced. We moved from Seaside to Marina and the move went very quickly. All items were properly placed in the house, beds rebuilt, couches put back together. There was no damage to any furniture, to the house we moved out of, or the house we moved into; they wrapped everything properly. Tavares came back a week later to remove packing materials for recycling. I did three estimates for this move and the Tavares estimate was the most competitive (by far). If you're considering a move, I strongly recommend calling Tavares and getting an estimate. They have the best pricing, but you'll pick them because their warm professionalism makes it feel like your family is helping you move. I've done eleven moves in my career and Tavares is the best company that I've ever used. I bought a baby grand piano on Sunday and after reading Eddie's stellar reviews gave him a call. He was answering phone Sunday (I expected to just leave a message) and we set up a date for Tuesday morning to pick it up and bring it to my house. He brought 4 guys and they arrived 10 minutes early. It took an hour to disassemble and wrap the piano, then after 30 minute drive to my house about 45 minutes to reassemble. They were meticulous and careful, and didn't even leave finger prints on the finish. Note: Moving a big piano is a lot of work and $expensive$. It was about $500. I've moved big pianos in the past and this is a pretty fair rate. They were worth every penny. Now to let it acclimate for a couple of weeks and then get it tuned... read more

Eddie and his guys showed up at my house on moving day with a 17' U-Haul truck to move an 800 square foot apartment. He gave me an hourly rate over the phone and said he couldn't estimate how many hours until seeing the job. He looked over the items to be moved and informed me that the hourly rate would now be 35% higher than quoted. I told him to leave and found another mover. Now if he had told me on the phone he thought it would take 10 hours and then after seeing the job thought it would take 20, I wouldn't have a gripe. My issue is why did the hourly rate go up 35% on the morning of the move? These guys are mickey mouse, I wouldn't trust them to haul my garbage to the dump. read more

Tip: *be sure to discuss in advance what you/they are providing for packing materials* (bubble wrap, moving blankets, ropes etc). We provided our own and wouldn't have expected them to provide - but I could see it being confusing if someone assumed they would automatically provide those. Eddie came to our old place and gave us a quote for about a week before the actual move. He was professional and his quote was extremely reasonable, especially considering the fact that we lived in a 2-story apartment and you had to take an elevator to get to it. On the day of the move, Eddie and his 2 sons arrived on time and got started right away. They were fast, efficient, and listened to everything we asked of them. Our new place is significantly smaller and not particularly easy to get furniture into, but they moved everything over and into the new house within 4 hours. We were thrilled with how fast, professional, and nice they all were, as well as with how affordable their services were. They saved us a lot of time, money, and stress. Simply the best movers in town! Every single step of the process was accurate. I needed to move a " Pool Table " which was very heavy ( 8 people minimum required ) to move and also my Piano. They arrived on time, took 6 of them to move the pool table but did it professionally and safely. Then they went to get the Piano and deliver it the same day in less than 2 hours. They work fast and efficient, very nice people. Eddie was updating me with everything and he was fairly reasonable for the price of the move. Everything was perfect, nothing was damaged or missing and they treated my property as if it was their own. I phoned Tavares moving this morning after another 5 star mover on Yelp texted me this morning that he was on his way to Fresno for another job instead of meeting me for MY move. What? Ugh. I dreaded making phone calls again because no one ever answers the phone. But I got lucky and Tavares actually answered! Not only did they answer but the gentleman was very funny and helpful and easy to talk to. To my pleasant surprise he was able to do my move today, which was fantastic because I had already set the day aside for the flaky mover. They met me at storage, and as other reviewers have mentioned, were even EARLY! I love that. They did the job very quickly and efficiently and were very patient while I tried to figure out where to put things. They made the move fun and hey, that's saying a lot right? I have had to move 4 times in the last year and a half, and have used about 8 different moving companies in this area, some off Yelp and some off CL, and they have ALL been either flaky, unprofessional, incompetent and/or slow. Thank goodness I found Tavares Moving...they know what they are doing and I finally have my go-to mover here in the Monterey Peninsula.
