BEWARE - The owner, Marcus, is incredibly unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful. We had a second appointment for a pickup, and he arrives demanding the check from the first pickup a couple weeks prior. I informed him that we mailed the check to his office the week prior. He said, while wearing glasses indoors, avoiding eye contact, and speaking sternly, and "I ain't picking up anything until I get payment from the first time." I said, "Are you sure you haven't received it, or can you check to see? We always mail them directly to vendors." He said "I wouldn't be asking if I did." If that was the case, he could have mentioned that he hasn't received payment and can't schedule a pickup until he does. Easy fix. Instead, he wasted both our time. Do yourself a favor - look up another company to call. P.S. I found out that he was in communication with our office a couple days prior to this interaction - where he admitted to moving their office address! So the address they provided (for mailing the check), was wrong! If he knew of this predicament - I'm even more confused why he came in so upset/rude. read more

4th time I've used them. They've moved my business twice (split move to 2 different locations), my entire home of furniture once (in the rain), and now 3 rooms of furniture from Carmel to Napa Valley. Marcus and his team are fantastic. They are always on time. They text and call with updates. They are fast, courteous, professional and everything arrives in perfect condition. 4 times now they've done a great job! Their prices are super fair too. Highly recommended. read more

If I could give more stars I would. When I moved to the area and found a place they helped me move all of my stuff from my storage unit into my apartment. They showed up on time, were friendly and went right to work. I also loved that these guys were so quick. They'll definitely be getting my business again the next time I move. read more

THEY STOOD ME UP! I guess providing the address and setting a pickup time window isn't enough for these movers. You have to be at the wrong phone number to deserve their services. HE HUNG UP ON ME! He called the wrong number and cancelled my move because I didn't answer. I called at the end of the pickup time window to see what their eta was and he told me NEVER because I didn't answer my phone. I guess sitting patiently at the pickup address waiting for them to finish their morning move wasn't good enough. Too bad because I had just withdrawn $100 to tip him for taking my appointment the prior day. This was an easy local move of furniture only. They would have been paid 2 hours work for maybe 1 hour tops. A new name for this moving service is A FINAL END. read more

We used this company 5 months ago. I have not had time to write this review but every time I see my scratched wall I am upset and finally decided to write this review. We had moved from the Bay Area and had used a great moving company when we had packed our things up. When we got here my husband booked New Beginnings to help us unpack. First off- they did not come on the scheduled time- when I phoned 15min after they had not pitched up yet, I asked if they where still coming. The man on the phone told me they will, but one of their movers did not show up for work and they are behind on their scheduled times because of that. They will be there within the next 2-3 hours. (I get that people get sick and it throws things off- but why did they not phone me to let me know that they will be late?!) When they movers finally showed up they moved fast enough and got everything where it needs to be and it was fine. Then, when they where gone- I noticed that they had scratched up our wall and light switch cover and our couch when they had moved the couch in! I phoned the company again and they guy said he will send some one to come fix it later that week. It is 5 months later and no one ever came or contacted us again! I even tried to phone them again in that week but no one answered, so guess we have to fix the wall ourselves... If we need to move again I will try some one else and recommend the same to everyone else. read more

I received a quote from Marcus, and he told me that he would need some additional information to schedule me. I called and left a voicemail at 3 pm because I had a couple of questions about what the price included. I didn't hear back so I called again the next day at 1ish and left another voicemail. I didn't hear back and called a few hours later. I then sent him a message on yelp and got a rude and dismissive response (picture included). I will gladly be taking my business to Power Moves where they value customer service, and are polite to other people. read more

A New Beginning Monterey - Movers Near Me

Marcus and Dexter provided a very friendly and efficient moving service. Showed up right on time and competed the job in the time estimated. Have to thank them for making a stressful day as relaxed as possible. I would recommend these guys to anyone in this area needing a moving service. read more

So beyond pleased with this company! Unfortunately I don't remember the names of the 2 guys who unloaded my apartment and loaded up my uhaul, but wow that were amazing. Right on time, eager to get to work. I was nervous all of my furniture and boxes wouldn't fit, but once they finished, there was extra room on the uhaul! Amazing! They carefully wrapped all of my furniture and handled everything with care. It was a bit pricy, but well worth every penny for the wonderful job they did. Thanks so much! read more

Marcus and his crew were very professional, fast, and most of all, careful. I recommend these guys if you have to move on a budget. read more

I have over 10 years experience in the customer service industry who understands how business works. This company, specifically it's owner is not the caliber these ratings give them. Read the responses from the owner of some of the negative reviews and it'll tell you all you need to know about this company. Argumentative, delusional, disrespectful, and lack of ownership are the key words you should take away from any of these reviews. You pay good money building a home and everything that furnishes it, you should invest your money in a company who appreciates the responsibility you are hiring them to do when they get a job opportunity. And that's exactly what it is...an OPPORTUNITY...lots of competitors out there, make sure the company you choose understands and appreciates that FACT!!! Comment to Management/Owner: These are YOUR customer's and their belongings they are PAYING you to move and take care of. If you can't do the basic fundamental duties of that specific contract you shouldn't be in business. Take ownership for your company, your actions, and the men/women you hire. read more

I searched Yelp to find a moving company with good reviews, and this company came up. I called and scheduled a move date and they had great availability. They called to follow up a few days before the move and everything seemed to be going great. One hour before the scheduled move, they called to say they could no longer move me, and had no alternative to offer. When you are moving you make plans and many of them are dependent on when you can actually move. They really put me in a difficult position, with not much time to make alternate plans. I'm sure the reason they had to cancel was valid, but when it happens to you the reason is not so important. read more

***WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER*** We hired this moving company to move my grandmother from her home of over 30 years to a retirement home. Rosie sounded awesome on the phone and after reading great YELP reviews, I picked them. I am an active duty service member who has done 6 moves in the last 6 years, and this was the worst experience I have ever had. These are all the things that went wrong: -Movers arrived late -Movers had barely any supplies; no pens, one roll of tape, no scissors, barely any packing material. -They set a blanket filled with glass shelves on the new stove in the new place and it caught on fire. They then proceeded to lay the smoking blankets on my grandma's Persian rug. I had to yell at them to take it outside and not catch more things on fire. This was a brand new stove in her new retirement home, never been used. When we showed Marcus the damaged stove top pictures, he called us liars and said it was from using the stove top. Yet, we had just moved into this home. -One of the movers was facetiming his wife and crying baby during the move. -They went two hours over the estimated moving hours. -They continued to put the weight of heavy dressers through the legs, bending them and almost snapping them off. On the buffet, they broke off one of the legs when they should have screwed it off. -My grandmother had lladro's that were supposed to be packed, there was no way we trusted them to pack them. -They packed up china from the kitchen with no packing material. -They damaged multiple pieces of furniture with gouges and scratches. THE WORST PART: I contacted the owner, Marcus about how bad the move was. On the phone he was very kind and said he would make things right. When we sent him the pictures for the claims, he called us liars. He has not returned any of my calls or emails. The worst part is that when I was paying his movers, they forgot to charge us $200 for the piano and I reminded them to charge me for that. I was honest with them, and they have been dishonest and haven't even returned my calls. NO FOLLOW THROUGH. NO COURAGE. NO INTEGRITY! ***ZERO INTEGRITY- DO NOT HIRE THIS MOVING COMPANY!!!!!*** read more

I do not recommend this company. Very stressful experience. Slow and didn't really know what they were doing. They moved a friend and I was there the whole time. The two men came unorganized (no pens, scissors, not enough bubble wrap) and damaged furniture. read more

Marcus and his worker bee Chaka were magicians. My help had fallen through at the last moment and I went to find new movers. Didn't need a truck but laborers. I called 3 days before our move which was on a SUNDAY. They gave a great quote and came on time. Our rented truck was smaller than anticipated but they got everything in. Our new place 2nd floor but with an elevator. They were professional, kind, followed directions well..asked great questions. From start to finish done in 2 hours as quoted. I so appreciated their hard work!!! In this day and age you don't see all young people with a great work ethic. Marcus and his team have that!! Would use them again in a heart beat!! read more

We used A New Beginnings to help us unload a rental truck when we moved to the area. We definitely recommend them, they were great. They showed up on time, worked really hard and were fast. They even stayed a few minutes extra to finish up. read more

Very happy with Dexter, Odell and Keith. I hope this big Thank You reaches them. On-time, and prepared with plastic wrap, packing blankets, and tools. They were careful with our belongings. God bless you. read more

The guy on the phone was very short and difficult and is argumentative. I would not recommend this place at all.

A dear friend of mine selected this company to help move her grandmother out of the house she had lived in for 30 years. As you could imagine, this was a very emotional day for her grandmother. The house was filled with sentimental belongings that could never be replaced. The manner in which A New Beginning's employees treated the belongings they were hired to move was unfortunate for my friend's family and embarrassing for this company. Irreplaceable objects were scratched, dinged, and damaged past the point of repair. An object was even caught on fire by being carelessly placed on a stove top. The company is not allowing my friend's family to make a claim for the damages. This lack of integrity is disappointing to see from a company that claims to be built on such a positive cause. My friend selected this company based off positive Yelp reviews, and so I felt compelled to help make sure other potential customers do not make the same mistake. read more

Paul and another guy were professional and punctual! I had a few items to move to a new place and they did the job well. One little surprise i did not expect was an extra charge for having to carry the furniture to a second floor (stairs) and I was not aware of the charge when I was given an estimate. But all in all, they were good and their prices are affordable. read more

I was very pleased with A New Beginning. They were professional and efficient. Their rates are the best in town.

Originally was going to hire guys from Craigslist, but everyone was really sketchy. I didn't have that much stuff so I didn't want to hire professionals because it was too expensive. Came across this company and I don't know why, but they are SUPER affordable!! The guys were really nice (I fed them egg rolls when they came over. Haha) and very professional. They called when they were on the way and they were prompt. They did an amazing job moving my stuff. This is a great company, and I will definitely use them again. Prices are super reasonable. The other companies wanted a 3 hour minimum, these guys had no minimum. I reccomend them to everyone! Michael and Paul were amazing. Thank you guys SO much for helping me! read more

Best customer service. Best packing job. Nothing in the truck moved for 400 miles. They packed a 20 foot truck professionally in 2 hours.

WOW!!! These guys are thee best EVER!! Very fast extremely professional and I am left kind of awe struck at how smooth it all went. It was a split decision move and they were right on top of it!! Best prices and best service, you cannot beat it! Forget the others and use this amazing company read more

Needed to move a yahama u1 piano from Pebble beach to Monterey. Other movers cancelled on us due to a flat tire and these guys came the same day to move the piano. Also, was very impressed with the protection/cushioning they put around the piano as well as being careful with the floors of the homes they were moving from and to. Highly Recommend. read more

My wife and I needed to move everything from our rental house to a storage unit. Dexter and Robbie gave us a courtesy call to let us know they would be early. They were friendly, extremely efficient and packed everything with care. I was surprised how easily they were able to fit all our furniture, appliances and boxes into such a small space. They were accommodating enough to come back the next morning to take care of a garage full of empty cardboard boxes and garbage that needed to be dumped prior to the final inspection by our property manager. We highly recommend this company and will definitely use them again for our next move. read more

OUTSTANDING. There's not much more that you can say. My girlfriend and I just moved to the area, consolidating two apartments during our move to Monterey. The first time, we got a hold of them on very short notice and they came right over. They are fast, efficient, friendly, and willing to go the extra mile. We used them for the second move in as well. Great workers at an extremely low rate. I've moved a lot, and hired movers before, and these guys exceed expectations. By far, money well spent! read more

I didn't use ANBM for moving exactly, more as skilled heavy labor. Dexter and Chas picked up some used furniture I'd bought in Carmel, wrapped and secured it safely, and drove it to my house in Pacific Grove. Then they carefully shuffled half a dozen heavy pieces up and down my 3 story+basement house (I don't know how many flights of stairs they went up and down) so we could get the arrangement we wanted. The even managed to get my ridiculously heavy steel-frame pull-out bed through the tiny door to the basement. Then they delivered the furniture we had left over to some friends in Seaside. Pricing was very reasonable and these guys were friendly and worked hard! I definitely recommend them. read more

Dexter and Dexter jr. did a great job moving my furniture today. I moved a few blocks over and needed help moving the bigger items. They were very professional, showed up on time, and wrapped everything up quickly and safely. They took really good care of my belongings (better than I would!) I will definitely be using them again and would recommend them to all of my family and friends. read more

I had searched for some movers to move the furniture from my old upstairs apartment to my new upstairs apartment and at a decent price. And these guys were it! Shaka and Paul arrived and started working right away. These dudes knew what they were doing. They did things fast, neat, and with a smile! Not only were they fast and effecient they were so kind and patient to my mom who was asking them to take this and that too. Kindness is something you don't see too often and is so refreshing to see in guys who are sweating and tired. I will defiantly use them in the future and refer them to others to as well! Thank you Shaka and Paul for you hard work, patience, kindness, and smiles :) read more

Great company! Contacted Marcus about a move that I needed rather quickly. Marcus assured me he and his team could handle the move without issue. They did! I was called prior to their arrival with a show up time...they were two minutes early. They assessed the move, wrapped our furniture and helped with the disconnection of my washer. Moving quickly, proficiently and at all times very professional. The majority of the heavy items were upstairs through a tiny very vertical stairwell. No scratches, no dings and to be honest I anticipated all of the former. We requested they take a break, have a sandwich or at least have a glass of water and breathe. They wanted to complete the work and ensure we were satisfied. We were and will contact them on our next move or suggest them to friends. Marcus and Mike thanks for all of your help. read more

Okay, if I could give Marcus and Shaka more stars I really would! The are so professional and careful, they moved all of my belongings from Monterey to Manteca without a single bump or scratch on anything, and the cost was nearly $300.00 less than the original estimate based on time and travel. They had done a similar short distance move for me early last year, and that move was excellent as well. I will recommend them to everyone without hesitation. read more

AWESOME!!!! Marcus and Michael were fantastic!! They wrapped the furniture in blankets and plastic wrap. They really took care in moving our items. Highly recommend......reasonable too.....VERY REASONABLE!!! If you need movers give Marcus a call and he will treat you right!!! read more

My husband and I like to think we're pretty good "do it yourselfers" but in moving a rather heavy chest of drawers up a stairway, you probably already guessed we got it stuck and couldn't make the turn at the top of the stairway ok, we need a professional so we consult "yelp" and find "A New Begining" got all 5 stars so we call and get a very reasonable estimate. Marcus and Chaz come and in a couple of minutes the chest was in its rightful place in the bedroom. A couple of very courteous guys who truly are professionals. The only negative I have to report is it was a small job and it took them awhile to work us in which I can understand. read more

Just moved here from Seattle with a commercial truck full of my things. I needed a couple of guys who could unload and efficiently store my things in limited garage space. A New Beginning was great! I received prompt information by phone, a confirmation when the guys were on their way, and once on the job they were professional, polite, fun, and extremely efficient with space. I highly recommend this company and would use them again in a flash. read more

We recently moved from Seaside to Carmel in August 2018. The move had to be made quickly as we only had one week to plan everything after our new home was purchased. We called five companies and three of them came to the house to give us a quote. Not only was Marcus Chubb the most pleasant to work with from the get go, his quote was also the most competitive. He and his crew of three people brought their two trucks and moved everything without much fanfare. Marcus runs a tight ship and is a consummate professional. What they charged us was very reasonable and it was more than fair. Marcus is flexible, friendly, pleasant and takes his work seriously. We highly recommend his services and you will not be disappointed. Not one item was damaged and we thoroughly enjoyed working with him. read more
