Years ago, I had…read morethe best beef noodle soup of my life at a noodle house in Shanghai, and I've been craving that same authentic flavor ever since. When I heard this place served authentic Chinese beef noodle soup, I knew we had to try it. And we were not disappointed! The beef noodle soup was absolutely delicious, but what really stood out to me was the quality of the noodles. They had the perfect texture, just the right amount of bounce, and incredible flavor. You can really tell the difference when noodles are made right! I also loved the self-serve sauce and spice bar, where you could customize your soup exactly how you like it. Such a nice touch! We ordered a few side dishes too, including the rice cakes and pumpkin sesame balls, and both were amazing. Everything was packed with flavor. My wife loved it, my kids loved it, and I loved it. We all had a fantastic time, and it made my 50th birthday celebration even more special. If you're looking for authentic Chinese food, especially a really good bowl of beef noodle soup, definitely check this place out. Highly recommended!

The food quickly comes out piping hot and there is an unlimited condiment and topping bar that you can use to customize your bowl to your heart's content. The price is also very fair and they don't accept/require any tip so the price you see is the price you pay (with tax added on top). It also seems to be within a little Chinese/Asian plaza/shopping center so you can browse around after your meal too. The area seemed a little bit sketchy so I would be careful of your cars and don't leave any valuables in sight.

The broth is flavorful and satisfying without being too heavy. The white tonkotsu is also very good if you're in the mood for something richer and creamier. Definitely don't skip the geso either! It's delicious and one of our favorite things to order alongside the ramen. Alternatively, if you're not in the mood for noodles, they have an excellent Tonkatsu Donburi. Ryujin can get pretty crowded around dinner, especially on colder nights when everyone seems to have the same idea, so I'd recommend planning accordingly and being prepared for a possible wait. It's worth it, though! Great ramen, authentic flavors, and a spot we're always happy to come back to.

There were not many people eating a late lunch. The place is clean and wall kept with plenty of seating. We opted for the black garlic Ramen and the spicy tonkatsu Ramen. Both were flavorful just not the best we've ever had. The black garlic Ramen was flavorful enough, and the portion was good to fill me up. The spicy tongue Katsu was not spicy at all and they didn't bring or offer any additional condiments like chili oil. We waited for someone to come back, but by that time we had already eaten half of our bowls. It wouldn't be my go to Ramen place in Sacramento as I would like to try other places before coming back. But if you're looking for a hearty bowl of soup that is fairly priced and decent, this is a good option.

My husband loves their XLB and shumai and I always order their garlic green beans. It's always better in person, but we have ordered take-out many times. They get very busy at peak hours, so make sure to use Yelp Waitlist so you don't have to wait as long. We've also visited during off-peak hours and have gotten a table right away. Their staff is very friendly and their servers are always really attentive. I love their metal water cups that keep things nice and cold. Somehow water is even more refreshing from these cups. The best way to experience Journey is family style. We love ordering a variety of dishes and enjoying them together. We always enjoy our time here, and we tend to purposely over order so we have leftovers.
