It's clean store front. Had previously a beef teriyaki bowl that was tasty. So tried again with chicken teriyaki. It's ok. A lot of rice. Chicken was ok and not as flavorful as beef. There was no veggies (broccoli) like the beef bowl had. Seating inside or take out.

Hair in the food

Beware!! they have hair in the food and then treat you as if you're lying about it. They did give a refund only after I told them I would be posting my review. He says "I don't know if it's yours or mine" So I showed them it was a black hair and I'm a blond. Stop treating and making the customer feel like it's their fault when it's not! That's disgusting. I pay for my meals! I don't go around saying I have hair in my food for the heck of it! Do better CJ'S

Teri chicken plate

So got some takeout here for lunch today, just my usual chicken teri plate. Not only is this restaurant just down the street from my house but it's as good as any teriyaki joint I've tried around Sac. As is typical here, it's run by Korean people, who I've noticed tend to make really good teriyaki. Anyway the lady that works there is nice and the food is fresh, hot, tasty with generous portions. No complaints from me....

The Chicken Teriyaki Bowl. Dry as the mojave...

No. No and No. I don't usually write reviews, but every once in awhile there comes along a place that just gets to me; good or bad - and I have to say something. Today it was all BAD....there has to be something better in the area than this. I ordered a regular, chicken teriyaki bowl. Simple enough, but it was probably the worst teriyaki bowl I've had - EVER!!! There was maybe 1/2 of what may have been a boneless chicken thigh but it was pounded super thin and then cut into the skinniest strips ever and laid on top of the rice as if to look like it was taking up more real estate in the bowl than it really was. More than 2/3 of the bowl was rice + some wilted cabbage and a small amount of teriyaki sauce. I asked for a small container of extra sauce and some Siracha and the gentleman at the counter looked at me as I were robbing the place. He said, "there's sauce on there already," and I said, "well, I need more" and he just looked so annoyed. Instead of putting it in a container, he opened my bowl and squirted more on top of my chicken. By the time I got back to work, it had all but disappeared into the mountain of rice they had given me. Oh, and do not ask for a cup for ice. Now you're just doing too much. How do you mess up a bowl of rice and grilled chicken?

Came here for dinner a couple of times, the first time I ordered the rainbow roll ($15) which is my barometer for sushi at restaurants. Decently sized, the fish was fresh and the roll was filling. Daughter ordered the ramen ($18) with the red option, which she enjoyed with the plethora of toppings. Dinner the second time, I got the teishoku set with salmon ($21). Two decently filets of salmon came with rice, miso soup, salad, deep fried egg roll and salad. You also get a choice of either croquette or chawanmushi. The chawanmushi was a highlight for me! I missed eating this savory custard when I used to live in Japan. Their version did not disappoint! This has spot has become a rotating staple for me and am looking forward to trying out more of their sushi rolls.

We ordered: Appetizers: Mixed Tempura 8/10 - wish it was a smidge flakier Grilled Squid 1000/10 - might just come back alone for this. Absolute perfection, no notes Mains: 18 piece Sashimi 10/10 - large slices, scallops were definitely the start- tho no higher rating due to no description on what was being served and slightly inconvenient design even though the presentation was pretty. Double Toro roll 8/10 - my date loved it, I'm just not a big roll fan Spicy scallop hand roll 9/10 - super delicious, scallops were fresh Unagi hand roll - 10/10 - I didn't even get to try it, my date loved it Tuna maki roll - 10/10 - simple, delicious We will definitely be coming back. I will say my only note is that we ordered the appetizers first and actually waited to order our mains in hopes that the appetizers would come out first. Instead my mains came out before the appetizers and then my dates came after the appetizers came out. Everything was delicious but I hope that isn't a common habit as it made the meal feel a bit rushed and the waitresses were commenting about how much we ordered and if we could eat it all... everyone was very nice though. A little cold in the actual restaurant but makes sense to keep the fish cold.

It didn't take long for a wait list to accumulate so it is def a popular spot. The service was a little slow but the place was packed. The food was 5/5: - Poke Salad: 4/5. So spicy my husband had to give me his sea steak and finish it for me. - Sea Steak Salad: 4/5. The steak was perfectly grilled but most of the sauce was under a huge amount of unnecessary lettuce. - Broadway Roll: 5/5. So good. (The rolls come in 10 pieces but the cuts are smaller in size and easier to eat. We all finished our rolls. ) -Sunshine Roll: 4/5. This wasn't marked as "hot" but it was very spicy and I had to wipe some of the siracha sauce off to eat it. The lemon slices on top were delicious. - Messi Roll: 5/5. Hubby would get it again. - Firecracker Roll: 5/5. Son in law ate every bit!

*** Vegetarian Review ***…read more Would I come back? Yes, friendly service. They can accommodate their broths for vegetarians. If you can handle it, always ask for a medium spice level. Tips for first-timers: 1) Plenty of free parking 2) They accept reservations The Food: Vegetable Tempura ($18.95, Grade A): I like how they cut the vegetables--not too chunky. There is nothing worse than a chunky carrot that isn't cooked to its core. The tempura batter doesn't pull off when you bite into it, and it isn't oily at all. Yasai Ramen ($17.95, Grade A): Asked for a water broth to make this safe and vegetarian-friendly. You would think it would be tasteless, but it was surprisingly packed with flavor. The medium spice level definitely helped, but even for people sensitive to heat, this would be a tasty dish. It says water-based, but it still has a deep, eye-appealing dark color. The noodles have a great bite. Not overly mushy. And they stay that way for the entire meal. Broccoli, zucchini, bean sprouts, wood ear mushrooms, and cabbage. The cubed tofu is fresh and wasn't spoiled which often happens with tofu in restaurants that a lot of people don't order daily. Jungle Roll ($14.95, Grade A): Avocado and cucumber, topped with a seaweed salad. Most Japanese restaurants fail to understand that vegetarians also want a fun roll! We asked if they could include a vegetable tempura inside the roll so there would be a good textural component, and added a drizzle of teriyaki and spicy mayo. Good news--they were able to do it, though having to check with the sushi bar is always an adventure ($1 extra for each request). Sidenote: Why do all Japanese restaurants need to ask the sushi bar? One-hundred percent of the time, we eagerly have to wait for the sushi police to give a rolling. The rolls are made fresh and many meat-based rolls include a tempura element rolled inside. I could understand if we're asking to deep fry the roll, but just adding a tempura and a drizzled sauce? Ok, hopping off my soapbox. Bottom Line We've been coming to this place on and off for over ten years. It's been at least 2 years since our last visit, and there are some noticeable changes. Portions are smaller; the ramen bowls used to be the size of a food challenge. The restaurant itself is looking older and not quite as cared for, but the flavors remain excellent and the friendly, attentive service is completely unchanged.

My friend watched the waitress stack the 5 trays and left to process payment. Waitress returned and told them she was missing one payment. The party insisted that they all paid. The manager came to the table and told them they had to pay before they leave. Again, the party insisted they all paid. One of the ladies asked,"Are you saying that we're lying? There's security cameras in this room. Go review the footage and you can see the proof that we all paid and the waitress took the trays." Apparently the security cameras weren't functioning as he wouldn't look at the footage. The manager wanted to charge the missing payment to the person who used a charge card for her payment and the group told him that was not acceptable. The dispute went on for 30 minutes and customers at a near by table kept turning around and looking at us. The manager stepped away again and returned shortly with the missing payment saying that he found it under the cash register! There was no true apology, no effort to compensate the group for the embarrassing behavior and accusations. Clearly it was the waitress' mistake and she didn't apologize to the group. This is unacceptable behavior from the manager. Knowing this happened yesterday, I will no longer dine at Akebono. Very poor customer service.

The restaurant is super cute and has indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is covered and shaded which is perfect for warmer Sacramento months. They have a variety of menu items including a build your own bowl opton, tacos, nachos, sandwiches, loaded fries, musubi and an udon special. I ended up ordering the Umami Udon with special chicken as my protein ($13.50), a Build Your Own Bowl with fried rice, katsu chicken, the triple katsu sauce, and stir fried veggies with "The Works" ($16.50), and Musubi ($8.75). The staff was super friendly and helped me make some decisions for my order and recommended the umami udon special, which I'm so happy about. The food was made fresh and took a little bit, but was packed with care and was nice and hot. I took it home to enjoy and the food was still hot and the portion sizes were really generous. The Umami Udon was amazing, it had perfectly cooked udon noodles that had a great chew in a creamy teriyaki sauce with smokey bacon, mushrooms, onions and garlic. It was a great mix of sweet and savory and lived up to it's umami name. I would order this again and again, it was so good. The Build Your Own bowl was also delicious and I can see why the chicken katsu is a customer favorite. The veggies were fresh and the fried rice was really flavorful. The Spam Musubi had thick slices of spam with a nice marinade and came with sauces for dipping. I'll definitely be back again soon, and while I want to explore more of the menu the umami udon is happening again!

Kado Asian Fusion is located on Broadway and cater to the lunch/dinner crowds. They are open from 12-8pm every day except Sundays. The inside was clean and had a decent amount of tables. We ordered at the counter and then sat at a table while we waited for our food to go. They offer bowls, tacos, nachos, rolls and sandwiches! I don't always know what to order at new places - so I liked that they had signs for specials as well as "favorites." We ordered the Rice with Teriyaki Chicken, Oliver's Favorite which was Spam Musubi and Spam and Bacon Fried Rice and Mom and Dad's Forbidden Feast. Everything looked and tasted really good! Obviously, it would have been much better had we actually eaten in the restaurant, but still no complaints once we got it home. Spam Musubi is one of my favorite things to eat so I could have downed like 5 of them! Portions were huge too - they even have a 100 year old teriyaki recipe! Overall, I would definitely come back and try other items! Staff were also very friendly, personable and gave great recommendations! Check them out!
