Its a really decent hotpot place, for the quality of food. ( My scale is a bit less lenient than other people) but my main gripe about it is the blatant price increase without any changes to the dishes. I think they just recently changed prices, because I do relatively regularly, and with this new menu I see new prices and theyve definitely upped prices. This place is a bit pricy as it is, but I understand businesses have the right to do that. Other than that, service is very good, you just have to grab their attention sometimes. Anecdote: one time i spilled water and one of thr waitresses came and practically cleaned it up herself. She didnt need to do that and Im grateful that she did, since it was my mistake. Shes the reason why this place has 4 stars not 3. read more

Bravo for decent service at a hot pot restaurant! The waiters were very attentive, not to mention fluent in English, which was a bonus. They were also kind enough to constantly check on whether we needed soup refills or the temperature of the fire. Good selection of individual mini hot pots and good portion sizes for one person. There's also a nice drink menu of milk teas and desserts (brick's macaron ice cream sandwiches and waffle sandwiches). Great addition to the Berkeley neighborhood/campus! read more

Forgot to take a proper picture of my food, because I was too excited. I went yesterday during the second day of the soft opening. It was really good. There were plenty of veggies and seafood in my Seafood Fillet Hot Pot. I got a medium level and it was perfect for a spicy food lover, like myself. The service could be a bit awkward at times, but it's understandable as a new restaurant. The servers were very nice and they constantly checked that my friend and I were doing okay. The only thing criticism I have is that they offered soup refills towards the end of my meal. I would have preferred this sooner than later. I'll definitely be back! read more

I actually love Tasty Pot and I would give a 4.5 if possible. As a UC Berkeley student, Tasty Pot is definitely one of my go-to restaurants. While it is not a traditional hot pot place (with a la carte dishes and a shared pot), I often find myself drawn to the convenience of having my own dish with set ingredients. I always order the Taiwanese Hot Pot in Flaming Spicy, as I am a spicy food lover. The Taiwanese dish only comes in a larger size, but that is fine with me as I usually take it home for leftovers. I used to enjoy Boiling Point's flavors more, but Tasty Pot has slowly but surely secured its place as my favorite. I also do eat a lot of homemade hot pot, but something about Tasty Pot's flavors keep me coming back! Tasty Pot's peanut sauce complements its dishes well, and my only complaint is that they don't allow you to take any to-go. Tip: During typical busy hours such as dinner on the weekends, try not to come with a party larger than 4! There is usually a wait and parties with two get seated easily! read more

Tasty Pot was great when it first came out--the sauce was great, the soup base was legit, the ingredients were fresh--the whole pot just felt so right. It was better than Peak Point. Fast forward to half a year later--everything just sort of downgraded a bit. Leftover are stuck to the pot, the sauce is old, and the ingredients are shrunken and dry. The food quality could no longer match its price, which is around $15 per pot. It is still a place that's worth a visit, but right now, it's just decent. One other complaint is that, during a certain time, the restaurant staff would start to blast extremely loud metal and rock music at you to the point that you couldn't hear what the person sitting across from you is saying. I think that's a common restaurant strategy to ensure that a customer wouldn't linger too long. Complaints aside, here are some good choices: Taiwanese hotpot( really spicy), Milk Pot (creamy and sweeter), Sea Food pot (rich soup base). read more

Decent flavor and many options to choose from. Very conveniently located in downtown Berkeley. The pot is a little smaller than other hotpot places. Friendly service. My wifes pot came much latter and they admitted it was lost in the system. Several waiters came and check it on us. And they offered us a free ice cream for the inconvenience. We felt they did a great job in making it right. read more

Tasty Pot - Yummy. - Taiwanese Near Me - Berkeley, California

I ordered the lamb on the in-store app and they brought the vegetarian instead. I tell them on the spot that it was the wrong dish and they insisted that its what I ordered. I went back into the app to try to confirm and the order was no longer viewable. They wouldn't do anything to correct the issue and insisted that it was what I ordered. I didnt even look at the vegetarian dish! After asking for a second time, they gave me a side of lamb in a water broth for an addition $3. The vegetarian tasted like boiled vegetables in a salty water broth. Definitely not worth $17. My total came out to $20 for a not enjoyable meal or experience. I've been a huge fan of Tasty Pot, but this was my first time at the Berkeley location. There was a lot left to be desired in the dining experience. I definitely will not be back. Very disappointed. read more

The waiter accidentally spilled chili oil on my white shoes and pants. While this cannot be helped, the restaurant's response to the incident was terrible: the waiter never apologized to me and simply threw a couple napkins on the table. Only after i left to the bathroom to clean up, the manager approached my party to offer a measly 10% off. No one apologized to me and just tried to brush it off it by talking to my party. I would have passed this by if they had at least offered a sincere apology to my face or tried to help me clean. The red stain was so bad that i could not get it off in the bathroom and had to leave early in order to buy bleach and scrub it off myself before the stain set. read more

If you are looking for authentic hot pot place and you don't want to drive all the way to Fremont, tasty pot is the one! It has variety of flavors for hot pots, as well as the drinks. Waiters & waitresses are really nice too:) I just like this place in general, and you can tell that it's legit by the long wait line during dinners read more

My partner and i loved going to the fremont location as we felt it was the best spot for this style of personal hot pot we've had with a lot of things going on and i'm not talking about the overabundance of cabbage as filler in most hotpot places so, you can guess that we were ecstatic about the opening of the Berkeley location earlier this year. The style and taste are pretty much the same as their main location and located next to the California Theater. You guys should come here while it's raining as this place becomes more intimate and homey due to their smaller sized establishment and windows (if you'r sitting on the first floor) eating hot pot to warm your insides. From their opening to their first closing you can get the lunch special (choices of hot pot and tea) but they do not have that same option for the dinner where you just get the hot pot and have to order a milk tea or beverage separately. The staff are friendly, attentive and you can just about find a server anywhere and call them over. The day we went the kpop that was blasting through the speaks was a little too loud which led to one of our beverage order being wrong but, it wasn't a big deal and stuck with it. Our meal was very satisfying and filled us up, spiraling us down into food coma status. The meats they gives us were plenty, the veggies were part of the meal and not over shadowed the rest of the ingredients and their beef balls and fish balls are to die for. They are not your typical balls but stuffed with minced meat or fish eggs! As fall and winter approaches; waiting for the temperature drops a bit stop by this place for your hot pot fixin' read more

Individual hot pot. Tasty as the name states. Broths were good. Just be aware spicy is SPICY. It is real here. My sister got mild and it was more like medium. My brother got medium and it was hot. Better than Boiling Pot in Fremont. read more

The "contains nuts" needs to be clearer on the menu. Red text on a dark image in a not very brightly lit restaurant = 0/6 people in my family saw the peanut note. Luckily what used to be a serious allergy now just makes my throat scratchy and my stomach want to invert itself. Peanuts aside, food was just okay. Friendly service, but the peanut thing put an end to my day :/ read more

Overall a nice, warm meal especially now that it's getting colder but I was a little disappointed with the meat -- very tough. Large portions though. read more

Bro, food here was horrible. My mom ordered a beef pot and only got about 2 pieces of meat. The noodle or rice choice was such a small amount it was literally a bite portion. Nothing in that pot was filling at all. There was only a lot of veggies in it so I should've just ordered a vegetable pot instead huh....paid like $46 to get this horrible quality food...ridiculous! read more

I love the atmosphere of young students, loud music, and the portion sizes! The bowl itself is the coolest part. It's an individual hot pot with plenty of ingredients, and they refill broth if needed! You'll need it. I love the warm soup on chilly days. read more

After talking about coming here to eat for over a month, I finally got to try Tasty Pot with a few friends. The food and taste were pretty good. I got the lamb hot pot (medium flame) which wasn't too spicy. Only complaint is that there were more Nappa cabbage at the bottom of the pot that any of the other ingredients. The server also made an error when placing our orders. Somehow only three (out of 6) orders were processed through and the rest of us waited an additional 20+ minutes...however we all got a free scoop of ice cream :-) The condiments on the table are pretty spicy and dont get ultimate flame unless you can handle the heat! Wouldn't mind coming back again. read more

Nasty! I love almost all Asian food (Chinese. Vietnamese, Cambodian, Korean, Japanese...) but this place sucks! No soy sauce, no crab cracker (had to crack with my teeth), seafood was of poor quality, tasted fishy. I'll give Taiwanese one more try, but if this is it, it sucks! read more

This place is always crowded and I've had to wait 20-45 min for a table every time I've gone. However, even with the wait, I find myself coming back due to the great service and food. Something new they've started is an order form for people who are waiting for a table. This way, you can get your food as soon as you are seated - how efficient! I always get the same thing: beef hot pot. And it is SO good. I love all the good stuff they put in the pot and they really don't skimp out on quantity. The broth is flavorful and they come around with extra broth for whoever needs it. The sauces are always stocked and ready to go! I also really appreciate the great service here. I've seen the staff patiently explain how hot pot works to people who have never tried it before. A girl next to me accidentally touched the HOT pot with her elbow and spilled her rice everywhere. The staff asked if she was okay (major brownie points!) and then asked if she wanted a rice refill. The people working there are so nice - this great of service is hard to come by. All in all, you definitely get your money's worth at this place. read more

I would definitely come back again. I've been here twice, one at lunch and another at dinner. There was no wait at lunch time, but can be a long wait at dinner time if you come after 6pm. Both dinning experience were good. Servers were nice and frequently checked on us. Food is good, I like that the soup base is not bland or watery, and there is a lot of ingredients in a pot. It is comparable to Boiling Point and it's much closer to my home. The only complaint I can think of is that my complementary drink at lunch time is only half full compare to the others :-/ read more

Tasty Pot - Many food in a pot. It's #1 on the menu - the beef pot - Taiwanese Near Me - Berkeley, California

The experience was bad. We always go to the Dublin location at least one a week. Everyone is so nice there and the customer service is excellent. We love Tasty Pot and wanted to find one close to our home. We finished work later that day and came to the Berkeley location around 8:30pm. When we just sat down, the person told us, "just to let you know, we close at 9:30pm". The whole dining time we just hear over and over again that they close at 9:30pm. I ordered the Taiwanese pot "spicy". Their soup came with the sauce paste not mixed into the soup. At all the other locations, the soup comes ready to drink. When I thought the flavor was too mild for the spicy pot, I requested for it to be spicier, but our server said we'd have to pay an additional $2. During the entire dining experience no one asked if we wanted to have our soup or out water refilled. Before 9:00, they came to take our sauces and said that they need to clean the containers, something that the other locations don't do, even when we sit all the way to closing time. Then they gave us the check when we weren't finished and it wasn't even close to closing. Their reasoning was they needed to close out the register, "but we could continue eating". The table next to us must have been getting the same experience. They were irate and voiced their frustration calling the entire night BS. It felt like this franchise was only trying to collect money without providing any sort of service, except pouring the initial glass of water. Overall, terrible customer service. read more

I like these type of places because it allows you to eat a "soup stew" ($12-15 during dinner) at your own pace, while enjoying a lengthy conversation with the person you're dining with. Plus, who doesn't like to have a pot of yumminess all to themselves? I like that they offer choices - rice or noodles with your soup stew and how spicy you want the broth to be. I would recommend rice, esp if your choice of soup stew already comes with noodles. Also, don't go any higher than a medium on the spice scale or you won't be able to enjoy your meal without huffing and puffing every minute. Trust me, I've made that mistake one too many times! read more

Tasty Pot - The one with the beef! - Taiwanese Near Me - Berkeley, California

super hole in the wall so get there early expecting maybe a 15 min max wait. it's nice that they'll take your order ahead of time so that when you sit down your food will be done. huge portions for what you get too! went for both lunch and dinner, and for lunch you get a complimentary iced green tea! it was refreshing. I've only had the beef hot soup and the curry flavor hot soup.. both really good and real filling. after awhile I just gave up and still had tons left in the pot. nice how you can take it togo, and they have the sauces to go too! friendly staff, nice vibe in there. definitely going back! read more

Tasty Pot - beef hot pot, and curry flavor hot pot - Taiwanese Near Me - Berkeley, California

WAY better than Boiling Point. Whereas Boiling Point's soup is bland and spiceless, Tasty Pot's is super flavorful and actually decently spicy. I also feel like Tasty Pot gives more meat/things other than cabbage in their pots. I usually get the Beef Hot Pot extra spicy and I can never finish it; there's a lot of meatballs/tofu/mushrooms and stuff that go in it. It also helps that the price is a little bit cheaper than Boiling Pot too I think (by one or two dollars maybe?) Be prepared to wait if you come at a peak hour though! The restaurant itself is not very big and it usually takes people pretty long to eat their pot. read more

My family went to have lunch last Friday and spend $91 dollars and when I told the waiter about adding my points for Five Star. The waiter say that they don't have their machine and they will put it on manually during the evening. WELL!!it is Sunday morning and my points still have not show up!!! Why applying for Five Star program is you guys don't even bother adding the points for the customer who spends lots of money!!!! read more

Went here with a big group of friends on a Saturday evening. I would suggest getting there toward the beginning of the opening time because later on, we saw there was a line growing outside the restaurant. Here, each person gets their own individual hot pot, which you can order from various menu options. If you are a vegetarian or vegan, I would not advise you come here, because there's only one really vegetarian option; I wanted to get a creamy milk hot pot, but apparently the broth for that is made with pork. You can choose your spiciness level, so if you're not good with spicy food, you can have it with no spiciness. I felt that the portion size wasn't overly huge since I don't eat much and I still managed to finish all of mine. If you're not good with hot food, you can just flick a tab toward the bottom of your hot pot and it'll put out the fire, so it'll cool down faster. They also have macaron ice cream as dessert, which I didn't get to try but looks like it'd be pretty yummy. read more

I have actually gone back to Berkeley mostly just to get Tasty Pot. The wait times can get quite long (over 30-40 minutes) but it's usually worth the wait. If you want to try this place out, come during lunch time and you get free iced tea with your meal too! The portion sizes are very generous. I usually don't manage to completely finish one of the standard options, let alone the larger sized ones. A lot of hot pot places tend to have less meat and more vegetables to make the dish seem to have a lot of substance but you actually do get A LOT of meat and seafood in each pot. Each dish also comes with a choice of vermicelli or rice too. Also one thing some people might not know is that you can actually order take out from here as well. read more

Before visiting this restaurant, my friend has talked several times about how popular this restaurant has been after opening. Four of us finally got a chance to taste it for lunch. I was first not happy with the price. I thought it was a little overpriced for a lunch combo at 14.99+tax, if I remembered correctly. But later the portion of food is somewhat compensatory. The pot is good though: it not only has enough food materials but also different kinds, including some rare finds like pork intestines and blood cakes. My favorite part is that their 'spicy' means it. I had a "extremely spicy" level hotpot and it did actually burn my tongue. I would come back to just retry the spiciness, but not for the daily visits due to its price, let alone sometimes it needs very long time to get a seat. read more

First time trying hot pot in general and, although pricey, this place is definitely worth it. Probably my favorite place in Berkeley so far. It was so good that I cried.. really though. I actually did cry. I ordered #9, which was already called Spicy Soup (I probably got the name wrong here). Despite the waitress's warning, I ended up getting it "flaming spicy", totally overestimating my spicy tolerance. I spent the next two hours struggling to finish the bowl which consisted of me repeatedly drinking water, blowing my nose, controlling my tears and struggling to talk to my friend. I probably brought dishonor to my ancestors because I definitely could not tolerate that spiciness. Honestly though, this place is amazing as can be said by the long line outside and the crowded setting. I will definitely get mild next time and it was amazing how various ingredients- beef, clam, tempura, fish ball, clam and other veggies- were well put together in my order. It also comes with a side dish- white rice or noodles. I recommend getting rice because #9 already had noodles in it. Props to the workers, too, for their amazing service. Their constant alertness in serving me water enable me to defeat the flaming spiciness. I will be back. read more

Imagine my face when I found out from FiveStars that there's a Berkeley location for this! I didn't believe it at first until I searched them up on yelp and indeed, they are open in Berkeley. They are doing soft opening at the moment so their hours may change. However, I think they are opened mostly from 11am to 930pm. I went here around 730pm and boy, they were packed! Waiting took a bit, but what I noticed is that.. The servers would call the next group in line to take their orders and seat them when the next vailable table is cleared. That was something I didn't see before, though I think it was pretty efficient for food wait time. Once you get seated, you already ordered from before and it's on the way! First impression is that this place seemed cozy and there's an upstair to it. It felt weird to have an upstairs and the stairs is right in the middle where people walk up and down with food orders. I'm just worried that they will fall. Yikes. The food didn't take so long to arrive, but they seem to have forgotten my quail eggs. No biggie. I didn't mind waiting, cause they were pretty friendly. I liked their service. Overall, I would come here if I don't want to adventure out to Newark for some tasty pots. read more

I really like this tasty pot! It's one of my favorite stops whenever I come up to Berkeley since there are no decent hot pot places in or near Napa. They get the food out to you quickly and the servers are nice! The boba I ordered was good and so was my curry hot pot! I'll be back again! I just wish the beef option didn't have nuts in it since the larger bowls are really big! read more

For a $40 meal for two I was seriously underwhelmed. The meat is pre-cooked before it arrives at your table so you don't get to cook to preference. The servers seemed annoyed to have to accommodate my boyfriend's life-threatening peanut allergy. Came here with my family, and we LOVED the lunch here. I got the beef pot (#1), and the flavor was super good. The tasty pot is like a kitchen sink- they give a lot of food too and you can get refills with more soup! Fishballs meatballs, noodles, cabbage, corn! It's all in there! I'm not a spicy person, but got mild. It was tolerable, and made the flavor better! It was spicy though for me. The waiters were a little all over the place, and one of the men gave my mom attitude when she asked him to re-light to hotpot (she likes her food blazing hot temperature-wise), but everything else was really good! The tea was good to! Would definitely come back for lunch! read more

Tasty Pot - Beer hot pot!!! Super yummy!!! - Taiwanese Near Me - Berkeley, California

Pre-made hotpot! Be sure to know that before you walk in. I was expecting a typical broth and ingredients on the side but it wasn't like that for this place. You have different meats/soups to choose from, and it comes out already made. That was a little bummer but soup was good so won't complain. Their service was nice. It seems like they don't usually have peanut butter-based sauce so know that before you walk in. Overall clean and good food. Didn't have to wait when I went around 6:30 read more

I absolutely love coming here with my friends. The food is not as great as boiling point, but it does the job. I especially love their beef pot - the meat is very soft. The price does tend to be little high - after tip, each person pays around 14 - 16 for dinner. The line is little long if you come during typical dinner time, and they don't take reservations. The food does come out relatively fast though, so that's a good plus. The tables are arranged for parties of 2 - 4, so anything more could be troublesome. The service was very fast and nice. read more

My review doesn't matter, cause you gon' come eat here anyway! Best thing about this place: variety of choices, completeness of dishes, every person gets their own boiling plate! Food is bomb. Spicy here means spicy, so don't get too cute or you'll be sweating and in pain. Medium spicy clears my sinuses and gets me to my happy place. =D This place is stellar, and always crowded. Wait time from sitting to getting your food is about 15- 30 min. Drinks are mediocre and like, 4 dollars- but if you wanna treat yo self, go for it gur!
