My intentions were to come get a refreshing drink, but when I got there, I remembered how much I loved the Karate Chicken here. I think it's a clever name for popcorn chicken. It comes in different spice levels so I went with the highest level which prompted them to ask me if I was sure. When they ask that, I typically dial it down a notch which I am glad I did, because the second to last level packed some heat. It was that good heat that you realize when you start sweating, but not the kind that burns in your mouth, The flavor was great and I love that they fry it with little bits of basil to give it some freshness to contrast the richness of the fry. For my drink I went with one of their seasonal drinks which was the Blueberry Blush. This drink was outstanding. It was an earl grey tea tea with diced white peaches. I also added mango popping boba in it because why not. I also asked for 50 percent sweetness level which was the right call. This drink was perfect for a hot day like it was. It was refreshing and the diced peaches reminded me of summer. The earl grey tea and the choice of anything blueberry was out of my ordinary but I am glad I was talked into this drink. I love this place because they have every type of boba drink you can think of from teas, milk teas, energy drinks, coffee, smoothies, slushes and hot drinks. Parking is easy up front but can get crowded on busy times of the day. There are only two small tables to enjoy tea and snacks inside but the atmosphere is modern and welcoming. Their menu consists of many great drink options, anywhere from milk teas (with or without boba) to fruit teas and smoothies to coffee, and energy drinks to slushy freezes. I love that they let you do a top off with no extra charge as I tend to order my drinks with less ice. They also offer a handful of snack options like fried shrimp or calamari, funnel cake sticks, popcorn chicken, and even rice bowls. The service is fast and friendly and the teas I've tried were all refreshing and tasty. However, I do notice that some of the teas are more sweet than others even at my go-to percentage for sweetness, which is almost always at thirty percent. Absolutely yummy!! I stumbled across this place on TikTok after I saw someone posted about their new pandan milk tea and I just had to go since my absolute favorite flavor is pandan. Ordering online was easy, but I wish I didn't have to create an account in order to checkout and wish I could've checked out as a guest but no biggie. The order was ready in about 5-10 min which was super quick! The shop itself is in a corner of a plaza but very easy to find due to their bright lights! Plenty of parking outside and inside is very cute and quaint! I think it's a good spot to just grab your drink and go, but there are a few seats so you can rest or study. This pandan milk tea is probably one of my favorite drinks ever, especially if I'm craving something sweet + non-fruity + no caffeine! The pandan flavor was perfect and had a nice coconut flavor as well that made the pandan stand out. The grass jelly was perfect too. The whole drink itself tasted very nostalgic and perfect. I was excited to check out Tastea since Bellaire has so many teahouses and more on the way. On my first visit, I got the Strawberry Ecsteasy, which is made with black tea and black jelly, but I substituted lychee jelly--my favorite. The drink was okay, but it didn't stand out compared to other places. I went again a few days ago and tried the Strawberry Ecsteasy with green tea and lychee jelly instead, and it was pretty good--definitely better than my first experience. What I was really looking forward to was the popcorn chicken, which they call "Karate Chicken." Unfortunately, it was disappointing. The portion size was too small for the price, and it was a bit too salty. I still prefer the popcorn chicken from Kim's Cafe--it remains my favorite. Overall, Tastea was decent, but not enough to pull me away from my regular spots. I had to come back and check this place out for their lunch options as it's only 14-15 minutes from my job! The food did not disappoint! They offered fried shrimp and fries, both of which can be ordered separately. The shrimp can be ordered in two sizes, a medium or large size. I got the medium which was more than enough, it came with about 8 pieces of juicy fried shrimp and I was able to select my heat level from 0-10 and my dipping sauce which was a honey siracha. The fries come in one size, cut from the cud and crunchy, comes with the same heat level options as the shrimp and a dipping sauce. They were amazing!! I'm still impressed with the vibrant basil mixed with spice of the shrimp, the honey siracha offered a nice cool down from the heat. I got my shrimp on level 8 and it was well worth it! I went based off the staff's recommendation. I ordered their Earl Grey Peach tea that was slightly sweet, very fragrance with chopped crisp beaches throughout. They also have a rewards program where when you purchase enough, you gain enough points to get freebies like the fried shrimp or teas. They also give service member discounts of 10% off the total spend making this place one of the most desired in the plaza. Plenty of free and open lot parking, right off a main road, Staff was absolutely amazing with amazing suggestions. Maybe it's the nostalgia or maybe it's the incredibly large sweet tooth we all have as a kid. The general consensus after trying this place in Houston was the memories of getting Tastea on the family trip to California as a kid was much more pleasant. At 50% sweetness the Unknown was incredibly sweet and overpowered with what tasted like the sweetened juice you get from canned lychee fruit. I'm 80% sure the "Longan bits" were lychee fruit and my friend who got the lychee peaches had a drink that tasted and almost looked the exact same as my "unknown". Ordered lite sweetness, less ice, and top off with tea. The Wintermelon milk Tea with honey boba was one of the sweetest drinks I've ever had at less sugar level. I let three friends all try it and it was ridiculously sweet to the point of saying we're basically drinking cream with sugar. The boba tasted like drinking condensed corn syrup. If I ever got dragged back here, I'd definitely order a drink at "None" sugar level. For $8 (with $1 tip) on a smaller drink, I definitely won't be back. Tastea has been one of my favorite boba places for years, and I previously could only get them whenever I was in California. I was ecstatic when I heard news of Tastea opening in Houston, and I've been going every weekend since their soft opening here. This Tastea location is small, bright, and clean. There is only enough room inside the store to order and wait for the drinks because of the small location. The drinks are so good, just like the other Tasteas I've had in California. I've ordered multiple different drinks so far, and they've all been delicious and flavorful. There are 2 sizes to choose from (20 oz and 32 oz), and you can customize the sweetness, ice level, dairy, and toppings. My absolute favorites are the Tiger Milk Tea, the Ooh La La, and the Horchata Crunch. I've also had the Mango All the Way, the Unknown, and the Taro Fantasy, and they were all really good too. Most of the teas are not too sweet even at the full sweetness level, but for drinks like the Ooh La La, you'll want to ask for medium sweet if you don't like it too sweet. The Tiger Milk Tea here is at the top of my list for brown sugar milk tea out of ALL the boba places I've been to anywhere; it comes with just the right amount of brown sugar as well as creme brulee.
