The food was seasoned well, great portion size, good customer service. Ordered take out ,but there's space in the restaurant to eat in.

Grilled salmon platter with mac & cheese and collard greens

Taste This is definitely one of my favorite carry outs in the city. I've been coming here since they first opened at this location and the food is always excellent! The salmon is usually my go to. I love both the grilled and the stuffed option. The BBQ ribs and Taste This Hennessey ribs are good too. They have great sides too. The mac and cheese is my favorite. The collard greens are delicious also. The Taste This Harbor East Baked potato was my absolute favorite thing to get but it got a little too pricey. Overall, I believe that anything you order from here is a solid choice.

    Same fair, smaller portion.

This is good old Down home cooking, even though I'm up from from up north. I know good soul food when I have it. The fish was fried to perfection, everything was tasty, and the portions were generous. The food was delivered to a retreat I attended, so I can't comment on the ambience, but I will definitely go there myself.!

This review is for the honey old bay wings! GLOWS: - These are some of my favorite wings!! - They are battered and not flash fried (makes them super crispy when they are fresh, but not that great for reheating) - The prices used to be VERY GOOD, but even with an increase, they are still fair for the market - Calling in a pick-up order ahead of time is easy/ they also have ordering online GROWS: -Not sure how to put in a larger order that makes it easier to order in advance without ordering multiple single orders. I'm often ordering wings for a large group

Build Your Own Mac and Cheese with broccoli and crab dip. INCREDIBLE.

GREAT food! Beautiful presentation, seasoned well, Salmon (Platter) grilled PERFECTLY. Top 5 Mac and Cheese ever (both the entree Build Your Own Mac & Cheese and the side), and the Collard greens are Top 3. Will *definitely* be ordering from here again. Maybe tomorrow lol We Doordashed this so don't know what the service and atmosphere are like in the restaurant but judging by the care that they put into their take out orders, I would bet it's awesome.

Order ahead. The wait takes a bit since they are constantly busy! Was able to try two items and was pretty good... But man this is overly heavy. The rice is not that good but the proteins are done significantly well. I will come back but i don't think I can finish one on my own again. The bread pudding though. . Can I have this forever? It was an absolute gem hot or even cold as left overs

Smothered Pork Chops Platter, String Beans, Mac and Cheese

I've had Taste This a few times and each time was good! I would recommend placing the order an hour beforehand as they are usually busy. The portions are amazing in the platter, usually I finish half and save the rest as leftovers. The yellow rice is good, well-seasoned especially if you order something with sauce. My partner loved the fried catfish and thought it was well-seasoned and crispy. My favorite would be the smothered pork chop! There was a good amount of gravy, though I would say that the pork was a little dry. I also like the spiced chicken because of the sauce, which was creamy and delicious, but the chicken itself was more tough and dry. The sides on the other hand are AMAZING! My favorites are the string beans, collard greens, and garlic mashed potatoes. My partner loved the yams, which were sweet and spiced well. I would probably skip the Mac and cheese, it's really cheesy but wasn't as seasoned as I would have liked. Most of the food was on the saltier side for me personally.

When it comes to Soul Food joints, this spot is average. However, the location is excellent, on the corner of E 25th and St. Paul St. The dining room was clean. Restrooms were available for customers; the establishment has a great face. On the food side, the shining light starts to dim. I started with the basics, fried chicken dinner with macaroni and yams. I made a special request to have my wings fried hard. When it comes to fried chicken, I prefer fried hard. It is all about texture. There is nothing worse than crispy skin with pink chicken beneath. Or worse yet, chicken cannot reach the "done" point. Instead, Taste This poultry is slightly slippery and juicy, with a rubber-like rebound on each bite. The chicken did not reach the "done" point. It was apparent in the way the drum separated from the flat. It was also noticeable how the skin was so crisp and the meat so tight. There should be harmony between the two. The skin on the drum should break with the drum and stay with the drum. Something is wrong if I bite and skin shatters, but the meat stays on the bone. The yams were confusing. There were tasteless chunks amid gravy-like portions. The cheese in the macaroni was faint. I did not finish either. The solution is at a lower temperature with a slightly longer cook time. This balance would produce better-fried chicken. There would be time for the chicken to absorb the seasoning while "cooking" thoroughly. In the current state, the flash-frying will have crispy skin with bland tough poultry waiting. Unfortunately, I am allergic to fish; I would love to sample the fish dinners. So that's where the stars appear. When it comes to Fried Chicken, here are your options. You can risk insisting on having your chicken fried hard beyond the point of a standard request. Or you can avoid it entirely, saving yourself the foodie remorse of disappointingly weak chicken that's fried.

My first time eating at this restaurant and it def won't be the last. This location is a carry out as well as a restaurant. You have the option to take your food to go or dine in. Staff is friendly and efficient. It can get busy in the evenings so it's best to order ahead. Everything was amazing. This is like homemade Sunday night dinner food. The green beans were my favorite (not pictured). The portions were so large you can get two meals out of each. I found out you can order just a sides platter which I will likely get next time as they were THAT GOOD I could have them as a meal by themselves. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and the amount of food you get. If you have not tried this restaurant it is a MUST.

I lived in Boston previously and Thames's lobster roll is BETTER than any I had there. It's my default order, but explore their specials when they catch my eye. I'm not an oyster guy, but they also have the best raw bar in town, and they have an in house dedicated pastry chef who makes desserts which are to die for if you save room.

So it cost me $10-15 to for a plastic takeout container. Had I not looked at the customer copy of the bill I would have not only not known but I would have tipped based on the total which already included the additional gratuity charge (which was not disclosed on the merchant copy). This is so unnecessary and ruined what would have been a good experience. They said it was a "sharing charge" which I have experienced and applies when u have another diner with you and u decide to split an entree. Had they disclosed I would at least had the option to finish the meal. The saying "stepping over dollars to pick up pennies " seems to apply as this left such a bad taste I doubt I will return despite the fact the crab cake was delicious and the loaded baked potato was average (hardly loaded) Beware of the hidden gratuity for take home leftovers!!! Update to above: I did follow up with Angie this morning and she was very kind and offered to credit back my card for the extra gratuity. She also explained that I was misled about the "sharing charge" but they do automatically add 15% gratuity regardless of party size or quality of service. So I would give 4 stars for the food quality and 1 star for the way in which they present and charge gratuity. Tipping should remain at the discretion of the diner based on service and food quality otherwise just get rid of tipping and raise your prices

The crab cakes were accompanied by a handful of greens, and heaping portions of the sides. The soup came with a handful of wrapped crackers - more than we knew what to do with! I preferred the lump crab cake, the sides were all good with the crisp cucumber salad and Cole slaw being pleasantly refreshing. The potato salad was the creamy sort. The shreds of crab was visibly evident in the veggie filled minestrone type soup, but not as evident in taste. It is always tough to get your fix of veggies on vacation, so I'd probably get the lump crab cake with cucumber salad and Cole slaw on another visit, or try one of their seasonal items.

We didnt end up ordering brunch since items on the other menus won us over very quixkly: the crab cake eggrolls (appetizer) and the crab grilled cheese (lunch). Being ambitious, we did ask the server to leave the menu behind, just in case. There was so much deliciousness to choose from But alas, we were satiated. To drink, we skipped the bottomless Mimosa and Bloody Mary and opted instead for a Blood Orange Margarita (which was more berry-like in color) and a Passion Fruit Mezcal Sour.
