Really cool, lowkey spot for drinks! I came after a Padres game for their late happy hour, per a friends recc, and loved it. Super affordable spot, with fun music and a great crowd. I had the topo chico seltzer & sampler platter, exactly what I needed after the Padres loss. Service was fast and friendly. Perfect pregame spot for nightlife, or a lowkey place to go and drink with friends:)

I really like this spot. Staff has always been nice in the times I've come here. They have such good happy hour!. Their tacos are so good! Hands down some of the best tacos I've had in San Diego. This place is a fun vibe. Place is clean. Drinks are good to! $5 dollar margarita in gaslamp on Happy hour you can't beat that. If your in the area I highly recommend stopping in here. You won't be disappionted.

Great sports bar! Fun place to come before a game. Servers are great and all super friendly and attentive. This is the place the Dodger fans come hangout before a game! I loved it. The food is good bar food and the drinks are good. I enjoyed my time here before I headed to the dodgers/padres game. I ordered the carne asada fries and buffalo chicken sliders and both were great! They also have happy hour with half off drinks and $3 off beers! So that was great too.

Best best best Bloody Mary ever. And Nicole is an ACE!!!!! Celebrated my birthday here for lunch. Place and restroom was clean. Nicole had an overall amazing attitude. I had a great time here and it was just 5 people here during this time. We ordered 4 Gummy Bear 2 Bloody Mary Day 1 SD Club and Added Cheese with a Side Fries Price was beyond doable. The view was cool. We got to watch people from a rehab and make up stories for them lol.

What a happy hour! 3-8pm is insane but I would only go if your looking for drinks because the discount on food is minor. Service was good, what you'd expect for a bar and the ambiance was typical sports bar. Taco Tuesday is not bad there but I'm sure there are better options here in San Diego.

My favorite bar in the Gaslamp. Love coming here for the atmosphere and you legit can't beat the happy hour 3-8pm 50% off drinks and food specials then a late night happy hour with yummy drinks. I love this place so much and how welcoming everyone is. Definitely is a go to bar, order the TNT strips those are the best!!

It was my first time here and I was impressed for it being a bar and all. A great place to come watch the games and a cool little bar with food. Service was fast and friendly. I took away one star cause the chicken was a little chewy but the tatter tots was sooo good!

My wife and I were in the area for a musical at SD Broadway, and as is the norm, headed over to The Local to catch a bite. Turns out that they were opening late this particular day, so we went wandering around the area to see what's open. We stumbled across Taste & Thirst, perused the menu, and decided to have a seat. We were greeted immediately by the waitress/hostess/bar keep (all the same person), who gave us menus and took our drink orders. A few minutes later, she stopped by to take our order - my wife ordered the chicken strips w/fries, and I ordered a small plate of boneless chicken wings w/teriyaki sriracha. While we waited, we checked out the place - DEFINITELY a Cheers kinda place - everyone seemed to know everyone.....at least 5-6 TVs scattered throughout, with various sporting events playing. And the ceiling decor was awesome - rows and rows of old beer pulls. Clever idea! We got our order, and were pleasantly surprised. The chicken strips were sliced chicken breast - and the boneless chicken wings were cubed chicken breast - both cooked to perfection. In fact, the ONLY downside was that the place was extremely understaffed (pretty much the norm these days, it seems). Bottom line, great food (and while we didn't partake, a HUGE line of beer pulls behind the counter!) - definitely recommended.

I've had my eye on this place for its excellent Happy Hour! Taste and Thirst is a great local bar with multiple widescreen TVs and an amazing Happy Hour. The vibe is definitely a dive bar with several cocktail, beers and food offerings. Definitely a chill place to watch a game or two. Daily Happy Hour 3-8pm 50% all drinks! $1 Dollar off Boneless wings $2 Dollars off Quesadillas $2 Dollars off Carnitas plate $4 Dollar Chicharrones $5 Dollar Lemon Pepper Fries Recommendations: Peach Palmer - This came in a mini pitcher ya'll! This tasted like a peach iced tea and it was delicious but it's a lot to drink Trashcan - This literally had like 5 different types of alcohol. This hits you hard quick so be careful! Love the HH hour offerings! I got Lemon Pepper Fries - Crispy Boneless Lemon Pepper Wings - Good balance of breading and chicken. Chicharrones - You get quite a bit for this order! Goes well with all the drinks! Definitely recommend checking out this place for happy hour!

0/5 in my honest opinion . We came here June 5, 2025 around 10:45pm. We saw this place on Yelp few days prior to our trip to SD and decided to get some food before heading back to our hotel after our concert . We were greatly kindly by the bouncer/security that also served as a hostess . He told us we can sit anywhere by the bar and the waitress will come shortly . As we looked through the menu and blonde lady passed by us and slammed a sign on our table that said "order at the bar" . It would've been no issue for us to order at the bar but we didn't know. The bar had an off vibe that I even picked up on. The waitress/bartender was only rude to my husband . He went to the bar to order another beer because she wouldn't come to our table but went to the other tables with female customers we're at. As soon as he left the table she asked if I wanted anything so I ordered his beer for him . She went out of the way to ignore our table with him there and even when we were going to pay only tried to deal with me . This place seems like a local watering hole and If any outsiders come in you get treated differently. The food was okay . But there was no hospitality.

    Quesadilla and jalepeno margarita.

One drink had a girl feeling tipsy. We ordered from the late-night "midnight Bites" menu, which was the only thing we could choose from at the hour of our visit. Everything we selected was really good. Wed got the Frito Pie ($12), Chicken thigh tenders ($7), and Tots ($7). The frito pie presentation was my second favorite part (after the bear glass drink), It came in a all-clad style bowl with the chip bag cut open inside, loaded with Texas-style chilli, melted nacho cheese, and shredded cheese. It was so good I even started adding tots in there too. The tots and Thigh tenders had the perfect crisp! They have sweet and sour chili sauce for dipping with the chicken which was fab! The retro decor made the place even better. I loved seeing the old Blockbuster VHS tapes and music cassettes displayed around the bar. My little eye also spot the Dallas Cowboys flag! Texas energy is definitely in the house. There's also a small arcade area in the back, and my eyes instantly lit up seeing PAC-Man. We didn't get to fully explore the game room because we were trying to make it to Ghirardelli Ice cream & Chocolate shop for dessert before they closed at midnight too. Thankfully everything worked out perfectly since our car was parked right in front of Ghirardelli. NO military discount was honored here even though the owner is a veteran, but overall I still had a really good experience and would definitely come back whenever I'm in the Gaslamp district in SD, Cali. I'm not sure if it's buy 5 get 5 free or half off wings, but they're pretty much the same thing. When I entered the restaurant around 7:00 PM, I was stopped and questioned extensively by security regarding my service animal. Rather than being asked the limited ADA-compliant questions permitted by law, the interaction became prolonged and uncomfortable while staff repeatedly attempted to determine whether my dog was a "real" service animal or simply an emotional support animal. I remained waiting at the entrance while this was repeatedly discussed back and forth. What made the situation especially humiliating was that another patron openly laughed at me during the interaction while walking outside for a cigarette. I later realized this same patron had her own dog inside the establishment in a stroller the entire time. Staff members appeared very familiar and comfortable with her, and multiple employees, including my waitress- referred to her as a "regular." Although her dog was eventually moved to the patio area, the contrast in how the situations were handled made me feel singled out, embarrassed, and unfairly scrutinized. I later spoke with management in hopes of resolving the matter respectfully. During that conversation, I was surprised and concerned to hear that neither management nor staff were familiar with psychiatric service animals or their protections under the ADA. Psychiatric service animals are legally recognized service animals when trained to perform disability-related tasks, and this lack of awareness was deeply concerning, especially in a city like San Diego with a large disabled and veteran community. I fully understand that businesses are allowed to ask limited ADA-compliant questions regarding service animals, and I also understand that many establishments have dealt with individuals falsely claiming pets as service animals. However, there is a significant difference between appropriately verifying a service animal and making a disabled customer feel publicly interrogated and humiliated. The overall handling of this interaction lacked professionalism, sensitivity, and basic understanding of ADA service animal protections. No customer should feel mocked, scrutinized, or publicly embarrassed simply for entering a restaurant with a legitimate service animal. I sincerely hope this situation can serve as an opportunity for additional ADA education and proper service animal training for staff moving forward so that other disabled guests do not experience similar treatment. I would appreciate being informed of any steps the restaurant intends to take regarding ADA compliance and staff training before I determine how I would like to proceed further. Thank you for your time and attention.

The amazing views of the bay were nothing short of spectacular, bringing a serene beauty that rivals the finest star systems. Over the years, my wife, her girlfriend, and I have become frequent travelers to this culinary haven, beaming back for nearly 15 years--a testament to its enduring allure. The selection of IPAs and mixed drinks is impressive, catering to even the most discerning palates in the galaxy. The choices are vast enough to satisfy anyone embarking on this flavor exploration, whether you prefer a refreshing drink to toast a successful mission or something bolder, like a phaser on stun! The menu features a delightful array of options, including fresh salads, tantalizing finger foods, and, of course, their famed burgers. My wife's enthusiasm for the offerings has always been infectious, and during this visit, she and her girlfriend were on a culinary adventure of their own, indulging in the flavors that have made Nicky Rottens a local favorite. Apparently, it prides itself as being an original coronado spot, but I didn't get that kinda vibe here. I don't know.

Thank you, Jesse; we truly appreciate how wonderful you are. The cleanliness of this bar is impressive. Watching sports here feels just like home, yet uniquely exciting--big screens, great food and drinks, and even better company. It's truly a priceless experience. Free and convenient parking.

Plenty of street parking even for a 1pm game start! Unlike places like Gaslamp, PB, Hillcrest I was pleasantly surprised! ADD 1 STAR Great outdoor seating area both covered and also out in the sun. Huge outdoor screen for the game too. Plenty of other tvs around the bar! ADD 1 STAR Plenty of water stations to help keep you hydrated! Even dog bowls for your 4 legged friends! ADD 1 STAR Staff were friendly and welcoming and always came around to clear our table. My only issue was the food. I was so disappointed in the smash burger. What's up with smashing the bun into a hard pancake both top and bottom bun? I've had better tasting smash burgers but I can get a better one at Jack in the Box and for $10 cheaper. It was so underwhelming I didn't even want to take a picture. The tator tots were awesome! Perfect crunch and spice....so flavorful! The women's bathroom is a little strange and quite frankly a waste. Two toilets set up side by side like how urinals are. This only works if 2 close friends are in there. They could easily make this 2 stalls and keep lines to a minimum. So 2 toilets but really just 1 women's bathroom.

Whether I'm popping into the Golden Hill spot or making a stop while visiting friends in IB, the result is always the same: consistently great pizza and zero regrets. There's something about walking in, scanning the case, and immediately deciding you need at least two slices--ideally completely different, because why limit yourself? Our go-tos? The White Girl and the OG Crime Scene. Both are standouts for very different reasons, and we somehow convince ourselves every time that adding a "new slice for research purposes" is the right move. It always is. The crust hits that perfect balance--crispy, chewy, and sturdy enough to handle all the goodness on top without falling apart mid-bite (a true art form). One of the few crust I eat from end to end. It's casual, it's reliable, and it delivers every single time. We've been loyal to the slices so far, but the rolls and other menu items are calling our name--so safe to say, we'll be back soon with more "research" and another review.
