Because of the annual Zucchini Festival, my wife and I went here yesterday instead of the one on Hesperian (we couldn't find any parking there). I'm glad, as I was curious about this location.
+The store is very large and clean.
+There's a lot of room by the doors (this isn't common at Target locations). You can expect some congestion near the carts, but that's really it.
+All of the sections are solid. I'm even fairly pleased with the selection of beef jerky (this store passes my litmus test).
-The CD's are all in red cases (they must be worried about shoplifting here- I almost feel bad now about the pepper and mayo packets that I took from the Café). This makes it a little hard to read the track listings.
Even worse, the CD's are $13.99-$18.99 each. I'm not surprised, but if you can wait, I encourage you to buy your music online (I always order through Amazon).
-Bayfair Center is known to be ghetto (I gave it 3 stars because there are some stores and restaurants worth going to), and that's reflected in many of the shoppers here (I'm sorry, but it's true).
-The store is spacious overall, but there are some narrow walkways and highly condensed sections (a ton of items are sold here). I'm glad that I don't suffer from claustrophobia.
-The parking lot can be a pain to deal with.
The main security guard made me smile. The guy looks like a clean-cut and slightly younger version of Billie Joe from Green Day.
They could be cleaner, but the restrooms are quite big.
We bought some grapes and strawberries.
All the fruit looked good except the raspberries (they were all on the way "out").
I'm a gentleman, and so I let this hot woman walk in front of me (thank you for wearing those shorts). I met up with my wife a few minutes later (I had to wait for someone to get out of my way before I could grab a copy of "NOW 39" for my wife).
My wife and I laughed at some of the exercise T-shirts for women. You should only look at them while wearing sunglasses.
"Some of these shoppers are getting on my fucking nerves."
I expected the store to be busy, but a number of shoppers were "lost," inconsiderate, or just plain stupid.
The woman in front of us in line insisted on telling me who she was buying her items for (really lady, you're nice, but I don't need to know).
The cashier we had is friendly, but a poor bagger.
For example, she bagged my wife's bra with some bottles of vitaminwater.
Note: All prices include tax.
The Café:
Coffee isn't actually served here (there's a Starbucks kiosk at the Hesperian location), but I was quite impressed yesterday.
There were 5 employees around, and the area was only a little messy.
There's a fair amount of room by the register, and the seating capacity is 47.
The condiment area is good, but it could be organized better.
A creepy woman came by, but she didn't stay long (she greeted another woman who barely acknowledged her, and I was waiting to see if she was going to ask us for some change).
Archer Farms natural Spring Water ($1.04): 8/10.
My wife is a fan.
Pizza Hut Pepperoni Pizza ($4.35): 8.75/10.
I was happy.
The pizza at the Hesperian location is good, but it's better here.
My pizza was only a tad greasy, and the cheese and pepperoni were delicious (the pizza was cooked very well).
My wife liked her Cheese pizza and gives it an 8 (they're also $4.35).
Hot Dog Combo ($3.26): 8.5/10.
I had some Mountain Dew and Tropicana Fruit Punch, and my hot dog was good and juicy.
There are 8 ice cream choices here (ex: Strawberry Bar; Nestlé Drumstick; Nestlé Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwich- they're $3.04 here, and I think they're sold at A's games for $4.25 now).
Häagen-Dazs vanilla milk chocolate almond bar ($3.04): 9/10.
I'm glad that my friend Cuc Crystal told me about them.
My ice cream bar was great, and it made my teeth cold.
I discovered a few minutes later that you can buy a box of 3 here for only $3.49 (the label incorrectly says $3.79).
For an even better deal, the hand dipped ice cream bars at Costco are only $1.50 each (they're big and loaded with nuts, but you can have one without nuts if you want).
Popcorn Combo (with an ICEE): $2.28.
Score: 8/10.
My wife enjoyed her popcorn and Blue Raspberry ICEE (the other flavor is Cherry Frost- some more was being made at the time we were around).
The woman sitting at the table behind us looked like Goldie Hawn, but more goofy looking (her son looks goofy too).
"I can't take you anywhere."
My wife is such a kidder.
I wasn't coughing and throwing up that much.
Although the one on Hesperian is a bit better, most or all of your shopping needs will be satisfied if you go here.
