We stopped by to shop for furniture after visiting the Pottery Barn outlet in Alameda. Compared to Pottery Barn, this warehouse was well organized and the furniture was in much better condition. There was a wide selection of beautiful sofas, desks, chairs, rugs and artwork. We found a fun framed canvas art of San Francisco (previously displayed in a Hilton ballroom) to take home. They also had lovely framed photographs of Berkeley. DJ was very helpful throughout the shopping process and knowledgeable about the pieces. Quick Summary: I found Reliable Liquidation & Installation (RL) while looking for other used/consignment/outlet/new furniture stores and it's no exaggeration for me to say that they're by FAR the best I've seen in terms of pricing, customer service, and selection. Most of the furniture ranges from lightly used to moderately used, but the prices more than compensate. DJ offered fantastic service and knowledge. PRICING & SELECTION: RL has multiples of many items and a good variety of styles to choose from, as they source their furniture from 5 star hotels in SF. On our visit today, they had a lot of traditional and mid century modern styles. They carry every piece of furniture you would find in a hotel room - sofas, tables, desks, chairs, nightstands, TV stands, mirrors, lamps, frames, rugs, mini fridges, etc. for a fraction of retail price, although most show very light to moderate wear and tear. We bought a dresser with minor imperfections today for $180 (discounted for July 4) which retails for $850-$1000, and a rug that looks nearly brand new for $150, retailing for around $550. We were offered lightly damaged night stands for $50 each, retailing for $350 each. DJ is also willing to work with you on pricing. Compared to Pottery Barn Outlet and Bay Home Consignment, prices are far better, and you're more likely to find pairs or sets of many items. We were told that Bay Home Consignment actually buys from Reliable Liquidation and marks up the prices. Handy tip - if you bring cash, they'll waive sales tax. CUSTOMER SERVICE: I can't say enough good things about DJ. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and not pushy at all. He was instantly able to tell us where pieces we were interested in came from, and how much they were listed for at retail price and where. He gave us tips on cleaning the tassled rug, furniture shopping in general, ideas on what might look good together, and he was happy to let us unwrap pieces to take a better look. Once we made our purchase, he told us he was going to help us load the items into the car, which was very helpful. THE WAREHOUSE: Enormous, well-organized, easy to browse. DJ seems to know every piece of furniture that's in stock and is sure to know where you might find a piece you have in mind. The parking lot is plenty big. I'll be back without a doubt and have already recommended RL to friends after our visit today! read more

I moved to the East Bay from out of state a few months ago and brought virtually no furniture. I'm shopping on a budget as I'm a recent college grad, but really didn't want to go the Walmart/IKEA/Amazon route. I probably went to ten different used furniture stores and found very little that I liked that wasn't too expensive for me. I found RL&I and now that's where I get all of my furniture. It's perfect for what I need; the furniture is in nearly perfect condition and there are many options as this is a large warehouse. I have purchased a living room chair, nightstand, standing lamp, and a coffee table, none of which were over $100. My only complaint is that it's almost impossible to tell that the place sells furniture from the street. It's a large blue warehouse with a fence running along the front with openings for the parking lot. Super confusing but glad I checked it out. read more
