We ordered 10 Tiegan plates as a gift for our son stuck in DC during the pandemic. We ordered 6 for us. His arrived SHATTERED in tiny pieces - unprotected in the box. Ours arrived also unprotected - two were completely destroyed. Ours were ordered before the pandemic, so this is not about all that. In fact, when I called the store, I was told this is common with Target shipping and plates - they are quite aware. We used to shop at Target weekly as it's next door to our grocery store. We have spent oodles of dollars there over the years, but after this insulting experience, we will no longer shop at the store. What a horrible ridiculous way to treat customers who trust you. Just throwing plates into a box without protecting them? Also, the reviews on the website are being policed. After one person complained about the negligent shipping, no more reviews are being put up. At this point, it's simply a con. I used to love Target. Sad. read more

Whomever your vendor is has never carried their groceries for blocks in those bags like I have, and felt the straps tearing into my hands. They are not conducive for carrying anything heavy. This Target is right in the new, remodeled Metreon Complex. If you haven't been here in years, the original Sony store is long gone. Now this complex is dominated by 3 things: AMC movie theaters, a multi-ethnic Food Court, and Target. The Starbucks on the corner of Mission and 4th as the cornerstone of the Metreon, is actually a Target concession, and the employees are Target employees, so you can't even tip them. Step through the glass door from the Starbucks, or Mission, and you have to ride up a story on the escalator to get to the main floor of Target. The layout is more long and narrower than most Targets, which tend to be wide and shallow in suburban malls. But they have most of the main departments here. I like Target. It is good to see that all the high-paid geeks that work for the dot coms in this area of town and pay astronomical rents in the high-rises around here can now go buy cheap clothes they can afford at their neighborhood Target, just like their Moms used to do in Peoria, Palmdale, Poughkeepsie, Pune and Pudong. read more

Having a Target located in the city is clutch - I've only lived in San Francisco for 5 days now, but I've already made the short trek over on 3 separate occasions. I now have a new kitchen trash can, loads of hangers, a shower liner, bath mat and countless other home goodies that I didn't want to transport 1700+ miles in a smallish car. Sexy, right? Though this location is smaller than a typical suburban Target outpost, it's well-curated with beauty products, electronics, clothing, housewares, food/beverages and other essentials. There are lanes aplenty to make checkout as speedy as possible, but if you go immediately after work as I tend to do, the queues can get quite long (though they still move fairly quickly depending on the cashier). If you're fiending for some caffeine to complement the rush of shopping at Target, there's a Starbucks located on the ground level. As always, it's near impossible to visit Target without dropping a Benjamin... and it's even easier to accomplish the overspend here since the prices are higher. read more

I'm totally a fan of having a nearly full size Target in the city close by in the financial district. The prices are the same as other Targets which makes for an affordable shopping trip when you need something. Don't get me wrong. I HATE shopping! But the City Target is providing some necessary service to this part of town. Here are the four stars: 1. Clean (trying the best they can against impossible odds). 2. Fair prices on a wide selection. 3. They let your dog in. 4. They are going to upgrade the look of all the homeless carts downtown. Incompetent employees. Not helpful. Especially in the fitting rooms. There is a 6 item limit. I had 8. So I gave the employee my extra 2. I went ahead and tried my other 6. I walked out to trade and get the other items and there were no where to be found. The employee put them back. Okay..... Hire people with some knowledge of customer service please. City Target means not your average fully equip Target. Chances are you will not find what you need/want. BUYER BEWARE!!! These people practice FALSE ADVERTISING!!!! I wanted to purchase a set of 2 Reebok 25lb Rubber Hex weights from their east bay store but they only had 1 in stock. I wanted to buy 2 because it was on sale for $28.00 instead of $39.00 Since I stopped by City Target before going to their east bay store, I thought to myself: OK no problem, I can just head out to the City and get the 2nd one before the promotion ends. I got there I was shocked!! THEY REFUSED to match the price as advertised on their website, and on every TARGET Stores I've been to, they say Price MATCH GUARANTEE!! I like the convenience of having a Target in the city. My complaint is this, while I have no problem bringing my own bags (I think it's a good idea), I find it absolutely absurd that they almost never will bag your items for you? Yesterday, I had not even closed my wallet yet and the cashier was already onto the next customer. And while I'm at it, "Here you go." is NOT the same as "Thank you." Conveniently located by my house yet dangerous to my wallet because....well, we all know how it goes. You always walk in with the intent that you're going to get ONE item that you NEED, yet leave there with a basket full of items that you suddenly "needed". I love Target. Today I had a terrible experience with one of their security guards. I went shopping at Target San Francisco Central today at 1PM. After purchasing a bowl on the 2nd floor, I saw a security guard--she was female, thirty-something, and having long straight black hair. I was gazing at her unique uniform out of curiosity--for just a second or two. She noticed it and looked at my eyes. I thought she might be suspecting that I was a shoplifter. I thought it could be misleading if I turn my eyes away from her, so we looked at each other for a second. I kept walking down to the first floor and looked back; she was still looking at me. I waited in front of the door for just in case; I took my receipt to prove that I was not a shoplifter. As I expected she talked to me. "WHY ARE YOU STARING AT ME?!" That's what she said at first. Apparently, she seemed very angry. I was taken aback but said very politely, "Wait, here's my receipt." She said "I know you've made payment. But YOU ARE STARING AT ME! DON'T DO THAT! I DON'T LIKE IT!" She shouted at me and came back to the store. People around us were looking at us. (And there might be shoplifting on the 2nd floor in the meantime.) I felt offended and sad very much. Overall, I am deeply disappointed in this store as well as the Target Corporation's HR and security management. read more

The only good thing about this location is...the location. No one likes driving all the way to Daly City, or worse, taking public transportation. You can forget doing major shopping if you're going to BART or SamTrans it back home. The not so great parts: -The parking garage is across the street. If you're buying furniture or bulk toilet paper, you're going to have to schlep it across the street -The parking garage isn't free -The prices aren't that much cheaper than the surrounding stores. You might as well go to Daly City to get a better deal -It's kinda small I think it's a good step forward to finally have a Target in the city. I was ecstatic that Target finally opened in San Francisco! I was disappointed however that the prices arent nearly as low as the other Targets I've been to(primarily Daly City). Be aware that this Target is very small and it won't have a huge variety of things. I was a little upset by the fact that each section: Food, School Supplies, Sports, etc were so small. Usually Target is like a great big planet with a gravitational pull that attracts all the things that you can imagine needing. This Target, while still a moderately sized planet with considerable things in its orbit, repeatedly does not have all the things. While it's very convenient, clean, with nice staff, (thank you!) there have been probably 5 occasions where I'll go looking for a specific thing that they just don't have. These attempts have lowered my expectations a bit. (Snow chains (double parenthesis, I kind of get this one), disposable table cloths, disposable serving utensils, decent holiday decorations etc). However! I did buy a pretty excellent bathing suit top for a small amount of dollars. The hygiene section is pretty darned impressive as well; I jam out every morning on the hair dryer I bought here and the jams are highly satisfactory and drying. Other noteworthy highlights: - Lightsaber selection - Nice men's underwear selection (Ahem. Christmas gift) - Decent $5 DVD section! After many trips here, I pretty much know what I can get at this location, and where I should try elsewhere for other stuff. read more

Finally a (City) Target that is actually IN San Francisco in the heart of downtown, located inside the Metreon! There's nothing really special to say about this Target--it pretty much offers the same sort of items at any ol' Target BUT in less quantities or none at all. Was pretty bummed they didn't have shoes there. However, this Target is stocked full of candy (possibly because of Halloween coming up in a few days) and food/groceries! So if you need a cheap, quick bite to eat while shopping downtown or some snacks, this is the place to be. This is a very nice store, everything seems very neat and clean. And I went at 5 PM on a weekday it was strangely uncrowded. The employees I encountered were helpful and friendly. For this, they get 5 stars. That being said, I bought a spiral notebook and a bottle of water. When I got home, I found out that the spiral notebook had been USED!! Located super central in the Meteron centre and opening its doors at 7:30am, this Target is clearly designed for the urban jungle dwellers and their ranging needs from souvenirs, grocery items, reasonably priced clothes, toys, cosmetics and more. I can't tell you how many times I visited this store while I was recently in San Francisco and purchases ranged from a simple black pencil skirt, underwear, mascara, costume accessories for a work party, cold and flu tablets, mental purchases of home wares I had no way of carrying back to Australia, super cute socks and more. They took the best of the best of Target and put it in the best of the best of cities! I'm ECSTATIC!! I have been living in SF since 2001. I have been waiting for a Target in the City for just as long. I was always either going with a friend or getting a Zipcar for Target and because I went so rarely, it was a HUGE stock-up spree when I went. Now that Target is in the City, I'm relieved. I can go when I want, for as long as I want. I can meander around and think about this or that. No one is waiting for me to finish. No more nightmares of being 18 hours late returning my Zipcar because I lost track of time shopping. Never ever late returning a Zipcar, but the nightmares are real. LOL I don't mind about the lack of parking because I won't be taking a car there. I'm perfectly happy shopping for amounts I can carry on the bus or walking. The prices at this Target are TARGET prices, not San Francisco prices. Very relieved about this. As for the reviewers who say "It's JUST Target...", clearly they live outside of the City and/or have a car and have no issues or time constraints in their shopping. For true City Dwellers with no car, this City Target is a dream come true!! read more

Let me start by saying I LOVE TARGET. I was so excited to find out that CityTarget was coming to San Francisco. I love the convenience of stopping in on my way home from work, and filling up my shopping bag with as much as I can carry home on Muni. Now that the initial excitement has worn off, I have to say I'm disappointed with this store. I won't complain about the prices or the parking, because this was to be expected. It simply costs more to operate a Target in downtown SF. I also have to note that the staff is really nice. Some of the cashiers are the friendliest I've ever encountered at any Target store. The thing that annoys me the most when shopping at CityTarget is that on almost every visit, they don't have everything I wanted. And what's really frustrating is that I KNOW that all the other Targets have it. It makes for an incomplete shopping experience on almost every visit. I would understand if it was a tiny store, but it's actually not. The problem is that it's laid out in a way that overemphasizes clothing and worthless knickknacks. I do buy clothing at Target sometimes, but I really think the clothing space in the center of the store is unnecessarily big, at the expense of the health & beauty, household, and grocery sections. It's obvious that there's an imbalance because the latter aisles are always overcrowded, while the rest of the store is usually sparsely populated. I feel like I'm wasting my time and getting frustrated on multiple visits to the CityTarget, when I could just drive to the Colma store every once in a while and knock it all out at once. read more

Having City Target makes life so much easier, especially due to the inconsistency at ALL Walgreens that exist in SF. This store carries most things I need, and it's awesome for a one stop shop. I'm not going to hate on all the employees because some are really outstanding, and some require L.E. (Lowered Expectations). I usually end my day spent downtown by strolling through Target to (1) Shopkick and (2) take a gander at all the things. Iono about you but Target is one of my favorite places. And having one downtown was super convenient when I used to work in FiDi. Especially since it's close to BART too. It's small. At least compared to the Colma Target I usually go to. Actually, it's smaller than the City Target on Masonic too but it's okay. Size doesn't matter. Much. Don't expect the more unique finds at this location though. It's only one floor (C9 stuff downstairs) so there's less space to work with. Can't say the prices are more or less than other stores though because it varies by item. I've bought Noxema that was cheapest here but Sensodyne toothpaste was on the higher side. read more

Good advice for travelers: Triple check the weather of where you're going. Then check it again. Keep doing it. This way you will not end up like me, with no jacket in a very chilly city, searching for warmth with an hour until the stores close. Trust me, I didn't want to end up at Target. Not because I'm against them for any reason, but because they're eventually opening in Nova Scotia. I wanted to shop somewhere special while I'm here, all the way across North America, but that isn't always possible in a time crunch. I searched high and low here for a jacket or a snuggly hoodie, but the pickings were pretty damn slim. I know, it's August, but seriously? All the clothes seemed to be the same thickness of paper towel, so I decided that layering was the way to go. I really liked that they offer a produce and meats department. I really disliked buying a pack of individually packed sliced apples only to get home and the best by date was today, aka same day as purchased. It would have been nice if it were at least a marked down item but it wasn't. Then i could say, "I guess that's why it was on sale." It's safe to say that I have an affinity with Target, the brand. I appreciate the aesthetic, the savings, their mission. The Target on Mission however, is not a friend of mine. Why? Because it's disorderly, if not chaotic. If you're looking for NYX in cosmetics, it's always out of stock. Items are priced randomly, ringing up differently at the register than displayed on the shelf. The little price-check scanners around the store are unnecessarily complicated and most often out-of-order anyway. They don't have hard liquor (like they do on Masonic) and checkout can be a long, long wait. Today it wasn't! I piled my prospective purchases on the belt, fluffed out my reusable bag, and placed it right on top. The clerk begins scanning, placing items to her right. "Do you need a bag?" she asks. I motion to the bright magenta flip and tumble that she has pushed to the side and confirm that I already have one, thanks. She then stops scanning, gives me a surly look and spits, "You want ME to bag this for you?" I'm not sure how to respond. I mean, between the two of us, she's the one getting paid... But I'm not a person that doesn't bag their own groceries, I'm a person that happily heads to self-checkout, any time it is available. SELF-CHECKOUT, PLEASE. I know this location is high-traffic and that must blow for the employees. One of the employees at Geary Target told me that an urban adventurer overdosed in Mission Target's bathroom on opening day... But if I can avoid interacting with some chick whose lids are spackled with lilac eye shadow, who is going to harsh my mellow in the middle of the day when I'm grabbing groceries before work, I WILL. In the mean time, I'm probably going to succumb to grocery delivery. Not having to step foot in this store would be worth paying the tips and surcharge.
