Sometimes, you don't need all of the bells and whistles when it comes to an eye exam. That's not to say the optometrists at Target Optical aren't thorough -- they are. They're just efficient, and for a lady like me who likes efficiency in general and needed to get in and out specifically on the day that I visited, Target Optical fit my needs. I knew my prescription had not changed since the last time I got my eyes checked 12 months ago, so I just needed a doctor to check my eyes and confirm my suspicions by writing me a prescription. I was able to get my eye exam and prescription in hand in about 30 minutes. Also, my appointment started on time, and they didn't pressure me to order glasses or contacts from them. I told them that I just wanted my prescription because I wanted to buy a specific style of glasses elsewhere, and they were basically like, "Good, thanks for visiting, have a wonderful day," etc. I came back on a different day because I needed them to take my optical measurements for some glasses that I was buying somewhere else, and they didn't even blink as they measured my eyes and wrote down the measurements to give to a different optometrist. They didn't even charge me, either. Dang. All of this just endears me to Target Optical for my basic optometry needs. read more

This morning, I took my glasses with a badly bent frame due to accidently sitting on them to the Carmel Target Optical location. With very quick service, Tiffany Squires spent about 20 minutes returning the frame back to near perfect shape, all at no charge. I also have my eye exams at the Michigan Rd. Carmel location and highly recommend them. read more

First of all, Dr. Hall=wonderful! The staff = not so much. They didn't listen to me from the start; I bought glasses from them 3 years ago and needed adjustments - it took me 3 times to tell them to finally fix my old glasses. There is an older employee who told me she was not sure if my glasses could be adjusted without even looking at them - I have never been told (in my 30 years of wearing glasses) by the place I bought the frames from, that they "will have to see" if the glasses could be adjusted - they would simply adjust without question. Also she never even looked at my glasses to see what the problem was in the first place.. After my awesome appointment with Dr. Hall, the older employee had a very rough demeanor and treated me very condescendingly when I told her I did not want more expensive lenses she was recommending. She was getting frustrated not only by me, but also a glitch on her computer and then yelled over to a younger employee - she was talking to the younger employee condescendingly from the start, telling her to fix something on her computer. She abruptly left the desk without notice and the younger employee sat down and told me I needed lenses that were way too expensive. I wear my glasses about 10-20 minutes a few times a week. They kept pressuring me to get the expensive lenses - Im assuming at the behest of their superiors. The younger employee then rolled her eyes at the older employee about me - - the attitude is what really bothered me between these 2. I literally had to stand up and leave the premise before I was going to have my choice of words with them. Thankfully, they fixed my old glasses (which aren't fixed all the way - will need to get a glasses repair kit), and I will cross my fingers when my new glasses come in and hopefully they will not give me attitude by not picking the polycarbonate and going for the standard lenses. I am literally dreading that day when I have to face them again. read more

I get my eye exams done at a smaller practice, and usually wear contacts, but when it was time for me to get a new backup pair of glasses, my eye doctor advised me to find somewhere else in network with my insurance to buy a pair for much less than I'd be charged at her office (even though her practice is in network as well). So....off to Target! On arrival a staff member was quickly able to confirm that they were indeed in network with my insurance and that they'd be able to fill my glasses prescription with no problem. I brought my old pair of glasses in the hopes that this would help them point me toward appropriately sized frames quickly and I was steered to the children's section...huh? I've been wearing glasses for over 25 years and have always bought adult frames with no problem...but...I figured maybe this was something quirky about the brands Target carries...I managed to find frames that didn't have anything sparkly on them, and while they are lavender on the inside of the frame, the color on the outside is fairly neutral so I shouldn't get laughed at if I have to wear them to work. Funny thing was...when I checked the frame size later, these are actually BIGGER than my old pair...oh well...they are fine...and I accomplished my goal of getting a cheapo pair of backup glasses that I will only wear on days that my eyes are super irritated from a bad cold or allergies. My cost out of pocket after insurance was $64 vs. the $350 or so I was paying elsewhere (even with insurance). Staff members were polite, and when my glasses came in they adjusted them and they seemed fine, but after I got home and tried wearing them again, they slid down my nose, I went back the next week to get them re-adjusted and they now fit perfectly. So....in my opinion this is a great place to go for what I went here for; in expensive backup glasses if Target is in your insurance network. If you want a wide selection of frames, it might not be the best option, particularly if you are a small-ish woman, unless you are into sparkly pink glasses. read more

I can say this very succinctly coach eyeglasses at my doctors office $675. The exact same glasses at target $429 with the added bonus of a second pair "all in" for $89. This to me is a no brainier! In addition, they worked diligently with my insurance provider to make sure I was getting the full benefit of my insurance coverage. Target carries many designer brands, the opticians were professional and once my glasses arrived worked patiently with me the ensure the fit. read more

This was my first time going to an new eye doctor in about 20 years. Everyone here is so nice! The doctor who I saw, I wasn't sure if she was the regular doctor but she was beyond nice! You get what you pay for. I bought two frames this year. the first set I got already had scratches all over lenses before i even put them on. they have limited selection of shapes/frames/designers. i have a petite face so i was limited to a handful that even fit. but i keep going back bc of customer service and the effort they put in to help...sometimes... i never got scratches fixed... read more

This review is for the eye exam we received. I went there cause this is closest in-network provider with our new insurance. It was simple for me. At my age, I know what I need and do not expect much change, just need to have a new prescription to order the contacts. The staff did the tests with machine and the doctor check my eyes after. Got my prescription, 1 for glasses and 2 for contacts. Things went totally wrong when I brought my 13 yo son in for his eye exam. The doctor's office is quite small and there is no room for me to be in there with him. I had to wait outside. I expected her to explain the results and recommendation when she is done. But when she was done, my son came out with some contact lenses samples and the doctor was ready to send us off. She gave him the prescription is exact the same power he has. I asked her ," so there is no change to his eye sight?" She said , No it is up from -4.75 to -5.50., but my son told her he sees fine and she tested it's 2020 Blurred. so she think it is ok to let him keep at - 4.75. That just doesn't make sense to me. We have eye exam to make sure our school age child can see clear at school, definitely not "2020 Blurred". She also gave him contact lenses samples cause she has extra on that brand, not cause she think it's good for him. Over all very disappointed. Do not take your kids here if you want them to see " 2020 clear" at school.!! read more

This review is for the Target Optical on Michigan Road in Carmel, specifically for the customer service I have received there from one of the associates, Kyle, whom I believe is a manager. His professionalism and etiquette are quite lacking. First, he was not welcoming or friendly when I arrived for my appointment. Secondly, he had left me a voicemail on the 21st after my appointment on the 17th wherein he was not professional or clear in what he needed to speak with me about other than he "had some questions about my insurance." When I called back, I learned that another optometrist's office had run my insurance when I scheduled an appointment with them which I had subsequently cancelled prior to the one with Dr. Hall. I called him back and he said I needed to call my vision insurance and ask that they release my benefits with the other provider so they could run my insurance through them. This was fine and I did so. I called Kyle back to let him know that I had spoken to my insurance company and they were going to release the benefits. He did not thank me for getting back with him which I wasn't asked to do but thought it was a nice courtesy. During the call, I also inquired to see if my trial contact lenses had come in. He put me on hold to look for them and came back to say "I'm not seeing them." He then paused. I had to ask if he would be calling me when they came in. He did not offer to call the company to see about when tbey might arrive. He also did not say goodbye when the call was over. I would recommend that he receive additional training on customer service. It has made for an overall unpleasant experience. read more

I've been coming to Target Optical in Carmel for years. Dr. Hall is the BEST! She is super sweet and efficient. The office staff is nice and helpful. The glasses selection is usually pretty decent and affordable. A great thing about this office is the availability of appointments, which you can schedule online. They are open evenings and weekends, which helps people with busy schedules. I won't be changing providers anytime soon! read more

I can not express enough about never using this place again. I was in desperate need of glasses and was told about a "special" they had. After paying all my money for an exam, I was told contacts were my better option. Also I was given a referral to go to a vision therapist. And by given a referral he took down my information and said he would call. I went back a week later after not receiving a referral and unable to use the contacts. When I went to purchase the glasses I was told the "special" did not apply to the over $100 I spent on the eye exam. I then requested my script and my records and as I watched the doctor in the back room and didn't even bother to come out, I was told he released my script but he doesn't think it will really work. It was overall a waste of money and it is not a place that I would ever go back to. I highly suggest you never go there nor take your children. read more
