After my insurance changed, I looked for a new eye doctor on Yelp and this appeared to be a top choice. Located by the Palladium in Carmel, this place is in a nice brick building that has a private parking lot out front. I walked in, had to fill out paperwork and then was called back for my appointment. They did all of the normal tests and the girl who was getting basic info from me before the doctor came in was incredibly friendly and easygoing. The doctor was very personable and helpful as well, and even showed me the photos of my eyes and described every little part of them and what to look for. He also went beyond prescribing a prescription and gave me intelligent information on new 'anti fatigue' glasses that are supposed to help the eye strain most people are now experiencing after looking at computers all day and let me know my Lasik options. Tip: He said that Indy has one of the best Lasik surgeons in the entire country, so be sure to go to him if you get it done and not some place that is cheap (he said each eye should be about $2000 and if it's less than that, you should be concerned). Good to know! The icing on the cake was the woman who checked me out and ran through my insurance afterwards. Not only was she able to tell me exactly what my insurance covers in terms of contacts/glasses, but she also had my year-long contact order in stock and brought them out to me in a cute bag. So happy I don't have to make a trip back! Also, with the $200 rebate they came with, I'll be getting contacts for the cheapest I've ever gotten them which is awesome. read more

I just had my first eye exam at Loman Eye Care, and the scheduling process as well as their procedures for COVID all were clear and well executed. Everyone was extremely friendly and made me feel comfortable, and there were a lot of tests conducted and I never felt like they were trying to push me to buy anything extra or get something I didn't need. They gave me a free sample of eye drops and also in the eye exam found an issue with my eye that I've never even been aware of and recommended how to treat it so I'm really happy. The doctor was very knowledgeable, friendly and answered all of my questions and didn't make me feel like he was rushing through anything. I highly recommend! read more

I scheduled my son for a contact exam. After seeing the doctor he was asked to sit and wait for training on how to put in the contacts. The receptionist came to us to collect payment and advised nobody would be available to give him the "required" training as everyone was at lunch. Not happy that I was offered this time of day for an appointment when not everyone would be available to assist and it would require an additional appointment. I asked if we could schedule something prior to school starting as contacts were needed for school. They offered me one time slot 2 days later. 30 minutes before that appointment I received a call that they were short staffed and he was unable to be seen. The next available time is 2 days after school starts. Zero empathy or compassion for the situation. While the doctor was great the front staff ruins my appreciation for this location. read more

Dr. Berghoff is wonderful! I had an unfortunate incident with lash glue and my contact on a Friday afternoon. She was able to see me right away and resolved my issue. The staff is friendly an efficient. PS. EVERYONE was wearing masks and measures to protect the staff and clients were fully in place. read more

I had my first visit to Lohman yesterday, after neglecting my eyes for two years. The ladies up front were very pleasant and got me right in for my pre-exams. I only waited about ten minutes after that for Dr. Berghoff. She was very nice, professional and fast. Within another ten minutes, she figured out my prescription had changed fairly drastically. They have a nice selection of designer frames and were happy to work with my insurance and financial situation. Coming from Target Optical, Lohman was a breath of fresh air. They're fast, professional and very nice. Highly recommenced. Can't wait to pick up my new frames! read more

Dr. Berghoff is a really great doctor. She takes the time to do a thorough exam and asks lots of questions to make sure you are comfortable with your prescription. I followed her from another location and couldn't be happier. I've had experience in the past with some places that don't give your eyes the attention they need and it is a refreshing feeling when someone takes your eye health seriously. She noticed a small dot on my retina a few years ago and each year she tracks it to make sure it hasn't grown or moved. She called it a freckle. :) My prescriptions have always been dead on and this office has a large selection of frames. I recommend Dr. Berghoff to people all the time and they always thank me. I had Dr. Berghoff squeeze me in for an appointment on the same day my husband was having his appointment. I was able to get pictures taken of my eyes for a small upcharge that helps check how my eyes change for the next times I come back. Dr. Berghoff checked my eyes for contacts, since Wal-Mart had screwed them up and I couldn't see. I was so excited to be able to see with the trial pair she gave me. I had crisp, clear, and perfect vision with the prescription she gave me, which is REALLY hard to get with my high level of astigmatism. I read far away signs to my husband on our way home since I was so excited I could finally see. I am going back again for their blowout sale. That's another thing...they have great sales, so if you time your appointment around a sale, you can save quite a bit. I will be using this newly found gem of a place from now on and will be sticking with Dr. Berghoff. 5 stars! read more

My husband and I have needed to get our yearly vision checked and this spot was conveniently located. Now, we don't have any vision needs (glasses or contacts) but the doctors were very friendly, quick, and professional. Not to mention the desk manager who set our appointments is just delightful. Came in for my first appointment. All of the staff from the tech, to Dr. Berghoff to the optician were FANTASTIC. My last eye doctor told me I was going to have to bite the bullet and get bifocals. They get you scheduled quickly (with staggered hours to accommodate any schedule), appointment times are kept on track so as not to waste your time (which is a nice change of pace), and they are incredibly helpful and patient while you pick out frames! The superior customer service doesn't end there. If you have any problems afterward (for instance, a rambunctious toddler who likes to grab your glasses), they go above and beyond to help you resolve the problem and get you back in working order! I scheduled an appointment here a couple years ago thinking I was scheduling with Dr. Loman. When I arrived, however, I was sent to a woman (whose name escapes me now) that I hadn't heard of. I have pretty much had the same prescription since childhood with glasses prescription being slightly different than the contacts. I was here for a contact lens examination, however, and the woman tried to give me a lesser prescription for contacts, fitted them in my eyes, and barely looked at my eyes after that. I told her that I didn't think the prescription was right as I was seeing blurry out of my contacts. She tried to convince me I was wrong until I insisted that I wasn't, and that I knew whether I could see out of my own eyes! I had to insist that she fix the problem, and she would have just as soon let me walk out of there with the wrong prescription. I felt as if she was rushing through and could not have cared less that I was there. This place is expensive, and I expected the service and expertise to match the price. However, I've had more thorough exams, more knowledgeable professionals, and friendlier service at Walmart Vision Center and Lenscrafters. read more
