NOT PART OF MY JOB!!! I have never ever been treated so rudely as I have been by Laura, cashier at the Manteca Target store at 1:48pm on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. I purchased 16-12 oz carbonated drinks because it was on sale 4 for $9.00 instead of $2.99 each or 4 for $10.99. She asked if I wanted a bag and I said "no" because I brought my own bag. As she was ringing up the 16 - 12 oz cans, she DID NOT put them in my bag nor did she ask for my bag so she could put them in as she rang them up. As I watched her place them back on another part of the check-out stand, I repeatedly (3x's) asked her to please place the cans in the bag for me. Her response? "THAT IS NOT PART OF HER JOB"!!!!!! I was so affronted by her attitude, especially to a senior with arthritic thumbs. I might as well have gone to Food Maxx or Food For Less or even Winco!!! Needless to say, she didn't help me bag the 16 cans. Later, around 4:00 pm, I called the Manteca Target store and asked for the Manager. I spoke with Mayra, who identified herself as the manager. She sounded appalled at what happened. She promised me she would take care of the rude service from Laura. Let's see if she does take care of what happened or she was just placating me. I'm going back as a secret shopper and see if Laura does it again! Maybe she should get a job at these stores where you're NOT REQUIRED to bag the items purchased! As someone who has shopped Target since the 1970s, it's important to note how bad this Target district is. I know how Target stores should be and none in the district are like that. Also, given that I worked for this location for over six years, I have too much insight into behind-the-scenes matters. There are still a number of people who have been at this location for 15 years or more. They still care. Theft is a huge problem. Watching customers consume drinks or food that they didn't purchase is annoying. Team Members are not allowed to say anything. That also goes for the pets that don't belong. Do people realize that people are allergic? The store does quite a lot of business, partly because it's on the way to Yosemite National Park. It's pretty much halfway between there and San Francisco. Many tourists stop. The shelves and racks are stocked, but customers often put things in other places, rather than put them where they got them. Occasionally, people will load a cart with frozen food and leave the store. Most of the deals are now on the app. The deals are not as good as before the pandemic but are recovering. Want to make sure you get the deal? Scan the item to see if it's included in the deal. At checkout, scan your barcode in the app. The lines are long all year, and customers are impatient. The cashiers are human. They have to eat and go to the restroom, just like you. Cashiers have to check inside boxes. It isn't an insult to you. Just like the cart full of frozen food, people love to have fun putting stuff inside other items, and leaving. If you have a question about a price, photograph the price and if it is the same product, they will fix it. If you have a price match, tell them. It's interesting that they removed cash transactions at self-checkout after I left the company. They wanted to make cash register 1 at self-checkout lane. Imagine standing there, like a cashier, scanning your own products. The drive-up team does its best to get everything to the customer as quickly and smoothly as is possible. Occasionally, a customer in the store will get to the item before the person filling the order does, and the item has to be canceled in a drive-up order. Generally, the staff goes to great lengths to help customers. They aren't rude, but occasionally, when you poke the bear, you will not like the response. read more

I came in store today to ask for a price adjustment on clothing I purchased within the 14 day window. The items purchased are now on sale for Memorial Day weekend. KLARA who was assisting me declined to honor the price adjustment even though I had my receipt via the target app stating that I would have to have all the items present with me. I shared with her that the target policy online does not state that and in fact I had already spoke with Target customer service this morning who already validated my items were in fact eligible for the price adjustment. I chose not to proceed with the return over the phone at the time since it was to be returned via gift card that would take 3-5 business days. I figured it would be simpler to process it in store and use the money on our in store trip today. I told Klara that I had already removed tags from the clothes. She said she would still need the items because without them, there's no way of determining if I go to a different target store and confirm that I received a price adjustment there. I thought that sounded ridiculous and shared that sentiment. She told me it's not ridiculous.... (I'm not a Target employee, but receipts are tracked on the Target app. I think if there was a price adjustment to that receipt it would show the reimbursement?) Who knows. Bottom line, posting this here because KLARA does not in fact know her own target policies and neither is she fit to work in customer service. You do NOT need the items in store to do a price adjustment. This was one of the most disappointing experiences we've had at a Target. Often, employees appeared disinterested and pretended to be busy rather than assisting customers. We went shopping for clothes, but the experience quickly turned humiliating. While browsing in the clothing section, a Target employee approached me and began pushing me instead of offering help to find the right size. A Target employee shoving me aside, forcing me to walk away instead of helping me locate my size, and making it impossible for me to stay in that area. I continued struggling to find the correct size on my own. When I raised the issue with the store manager, who was also caucasian defended the employee's behavior without listening to my concern. I asked if he could review the security footage to understand what had happened, but he responded aggressively and told me to leave the store. Due to urgency, I still made a purchase. As I left, the manager said, We need your business, which felt hollow. Sadly, this experience also made it clear that skin color matters in how we get treated and humiliated by Target. read more

Disclaimer: I used to work at this Target and have seen the best and worst of this store from a consumer standpoint. My review is based off my recent experiences in the last year and a half as a customer (guest). I have been really dissapointed with the Manteca Target for quite some time now. Since this is my closest Target, I am often purchasing from here whether through drive up or visiting the store inside. I am sad to say that I don't think I have received any of my drive up orders in the last year and a half in a timely manner. I am always waiting for a long time and the team members have never once come to my car to apologize for the wait or to acknowledge that I am there. Being that I work in customer service, this is something that is important to me. When I am inside for an order pick up I experience the same thing. It is even worst inside, though, because there are usually team members that are standing at guest service doing anything but helping the line which is frusterating as a guest. Additionally, the inside of the store is usually quite chaotic right when you walk in with long lines at the check lanes. It is sometimes hard to get by as there is no organization to the lines. *During Christmas time they do a great job structuring the lines for a quicker checkout. I just wish this could be the case all year round since it always seems to be busy when I go in.* On a positive note, the selection is usually good as the shelves are stocked well. I don't typically ask for help as I used to work at Target; however, I do usually see the team members assisting guests inside the store which is great and not always the case in other stores. Lastly, the Starbucks crew is ALWAYS amazing providing great customer service and value to all guests! Overall, I still love Target and will continue to visit this location; however, I hope that the experience gets better in the future. read more

We went to self checkout and were scanning our items with the gun, I let my 4 year old son scan the cookies that he picked out when it came time to it. He accidentally scanned them twice so I called the lady over to delete one of them and her comment walking over was "this is why we don't let kids scan things". The whole Target vs Walmart thing has become a meme nowadays. We often joke about how even though we pay more than we would at walmart, we choose to shop at Target to avoid the methheads and overall unruly crowds and environment in favor of a smoother, cleaner, more easy-going shopping experience. With all that being said, this location drops the ball as far as target's standards go.. I understand you can't control how people conduct themselves outside of your facilities but for the love of God, stop allowing people to bring their dirty, aggressive pets into the stores... These are not service animals because they were literally barking at anyone who got within 5 feet and I see this everytime I come to this location, among other things. Just moved to town and this was our closest Target. No issues but be aware of when they're busy. Because of all the sickness happening this fall/winter a lot of the baby medicine was out the other day but fortunately they restocked. The store is pretty clean, there's always an employee usually no father than a few rows away. Parking does get bad during the evenings on occasion but nothing to the point that you can't find a spot. Getting out the parking lot is probably the worst part but only if you're turning left with on coming traffic. read more

This TARGET location has some issues. I assume the following complaints are all related to being a very busy and high trafficked store. 1. It's always messy. 2. Many items are constantly "out of stock". 3. Lackluster customer service. 4. Guaranteed to go well beyond two hour promised time for online orders. I would say their in-store Starbucks is the silver lining to my review! LOL. The Starbucks crew is always very friendly, fast, and makes my drinks perfectly each time. Recently moved from the Bay Area to Central Valley. This is one of the most CLEANEST Targets I've been to! All the staff are friendly and helpful. It's Target, so I normally come here for great deals/promotions on products (spend X amount and get a gift card). I love how there are EV chargers; however, they're at the back of the parking lot. The selection is fair, yet affordable. This is my go to Target, which is much better than the one in Lathrop. read more

Tried to tell me there was no manager when I asked since she was not allowing me to use the express lane cause I had over 10 item. Mind you, my mother and I were doing two separate check outs (we just used the same basket) My mom had less than 10 items, I had about 20 (mainly candy bars for boo baskets I need to make) but It was also right at CLOSING TIME. I frequently visit this Target since it is right down the street from my job. I am highly disappointed. The last several months they have had low stock on almost everything. I went this morning to pick up a few things and again out of everything. To be more specific they seem to be very Low in the grocery isles. This has been happening since last year. When I asked them a month ago why they were out of milk, ice cream, chips, fruit snacks etc ..they said it was because there refrigerators went out and they needed to get them fixed. Okay, a month later still no stock. I went by there outdoor home decor section and again out of everything. Not sure what is going on at this location but it is highly disappointing. read more

Terrible service. I felt like being humiliated by not one but two staff when I asked for Veterans discount that they promoted online. All they have to do is to tell me (not rudely) that you have to have online account. It's embarrassing that as a Vet getting treated rudely for the discount. Store is nice, usually don't have a lot of things though. Had an issue with a blonde girl at customer service, tried to exchange a Barbie that my daughter got as a gift, didn't know where the person got it from because I wasn't given a gift receipt. Chick looked at me like I was returning a stolen object. Said that "we either don't have it or you've reached your max of $100" I was like ???? Odds are y'all don't even have it. She was extremely rude. I've returned a few things here and there but not consistently where it would "reach $100" it's been months really for the same situation, was given it and didn't have the gift receipt with no issues. Staff always running around frantic and unable to assist because the Store seems to always be short staffed. Very hard to ever find an associate when you really need assistance.. Fitting rooms rarely opened so you can't try on clothes.. I've been to this target 9 times in the last 3 weeks to try on clothes and the fitting rooms have been closed everytime! the store never answers the phone no matter what department you try to reach.. seems to be managed poorly. read more

I drive to a different town to visit a different target because of how rude the workers are. Not a single worker said excuse me when walking by me and almost bumping into me repeatedly at different times throughout my visit. If I can acknowledge you and be polite I fully expect that out of the customer service employees. Not to mention the cleanliness of the store and the disarray of a lot of product is beyond me.
