Came here to pick up a couple things to wash my truck. Had a homeless guy come in and get aggressive with me. Had a supervisor named Ralph come up to me as I'm calling the cops asking me to leave! I told him "what did I do?" He said it doesn't matter I need to leave. I then proceeded to tell him I haven't done anything wrong I'm trying to give you business. I was told to write this in regards to a tool box hutch that was pre ordered. The manager was extremely rude in regard to picking it up. I guess she was to call when arrived and did not and when she was called about it she said it was there. She I guess lied and said she did not have a forklift driver and it could not be picked up that day. It was the only day he could pick it up with help and when he arrived with help to get it ..there was a forklift driver and he was very nice helpful when picked up: I guess the female manager was rude as hell over phone and in person ...tbh you would think it would be the opposite way . He is very happy with the product and will continue business with Harbor Freight Tools ...but I guess that female manager has a very hard time with customer service and I was told to also write corporate because there was a truck there delivering and the forklift driver had no problem helping them. Hung a 70 inch LG . Came with a selection of bolts and washers, they all were the right thread and size. PS I put larger higher grade washers on almost all the screws, because I was not confident they were big enough for the 70 inch. This is a well built tv hanger that I would recommend to anyone. read more

Back around 2001, I remember that they put advertising flyers in the Orlando Sentinel. It always looked like the cheapest junk possible. I didn't have a need, so I never bothered to go. Yesterday, I needed some machine screws for a folding door pull and, since they were close to home, I went to see what they had. There are a number of products and it looked organized. Getting help didn't seem likely, since they didn't seem interested. I found the section with bolts and screws and they didn't have what I wanted, and if I needed to match what I had, they didn't have a panel like what The Home Depot and Lowe's have. I might as well have gone to Walmart or Target for what I needed. In the end, I had to go to The Home Depot and got precisely what I needed. However, if you're looking for mixed hardware in a package or tools, you can see for yourself, if they've got what you want. Do your research before you arrive. read more

I've been shopping at Harbor Freight for a few years and stores located in different areas of California. One area I appreciate from this chain store, is that if you leave your coupon at home and or can't bring an electronic version up on your cellphone they usually have the coupon book on hand or go online for the coupon and will scan it so that you can receive your discount (20-30% sometimes even more). This store is one of the locations that will do this. Modesto not so much; go figure. I have found some amazingly great deals and money savings here. Some of their items are really built to last while others not so much. One area that me and my Mom shop in is the solar powered outdoors lighting items. Also, the solar powered staked lights. They sell very affordable extended warranties for pennies on the dollar and they honor them as well. Be sure to create an account so that in the event you need to exchange or return an item and don't have your receipt; they will be able to locate the item by way of your account. They have an online area where you can locate and use electronic coupons right on your phone. In regards to the solar lights they have about a 60% chance of going the distance. This is where the super low cost warranty serves you. The cashiers are always helpful and the employees who are out in the store; equally as helpful. It's a good store as far as my experiences here and their coupon books received by mail have much to offer such as miniature flashlights for free and other stuff for free. We are giving them one star for the service that was given. I called them and asked them to put two of these on hold. This was our first time going to the store and we didn't have much time to try to find them. Therefore I requested the guy on the phone who was not wanting to give me his name finally he gave me the name Art. After trying to explain to him why we needed it to be put upfront and also thanking him for doing this. He left this snarky comment on the box for us to read. Harbor Freight Tools - Horrible service - Hardware Stores Near Me - Manteca, California

An inexpensive tool store is what this town has needed for years. Driving to Tracy, Modesto or Stockton takes about half an hour of driving time which translates to one hour plus of wasted commuting time that could be used to complete a project. For me I'm often in the town of Manteca because of the lower crime rate and the convenience of picking up the products I need in one place (Manteca). So having a place I can pickup a tool I need in Manteca is wonderful. Anyway the harbor freight store is obviously clean and roomy, I'm guessing much more product is yet to be on display. One of the best features is the lack of the strong carcinogenic fumes that I would smell at other HF locations. As for the location, HF is conveniently located at Yosemite and Union road next to rite aide pharmacy. The people are nice but I think they are still in training so checking out takes a minute longer. read more

OKAY!!! I call this truth, against the grain of some in society. I went here to purchase my son double AA batteries, for his gaming controllers, I was speaking with the female employee at the register, I asked her if the packs of battery had a shelf life expiration date, She called over a young man named Brandon, He said, "You know, those will only last about three days in the controllers." Now, I know that most of you might not see this as an amazing thing, but I do!! I mean wow, this young man told me the truth, and, because of his honesty, I feel the need to keep on shopping here. I dropped into Harbor Freight last week and had the pleasure of meeting Mina and Art! My key fob for my car needed a new battery and I thought I would dop in there to see if they had one. Mina and Art were both more than happy to help me. They googled to see how to get my fob apart (it's a different type) Then they found me the battery and helped me put it back together! They truly were SUPER helpful and didn't act like I was bothering them. I haven't had such GREAT customer service in YEARS!!! Thank you both sooooo much for your help! Don't understand negative reviews. I have had quite the opposite experiences. I shop there often every 2-3 weeks. For a variety of products for my shop. Yes there are times that the clerks may not know everything but who does? Can't fault someone for that. By in large the staff does the very best to genuinely help u either in finding something, checking , stock or more detail technical questions. Having been there 17 times this year I am quite satisfied. The product selection, overall good products and reasonable service. I give them 2 thumbs up. I can't help but wonder if the negative comments are from people wanting something for nothing, wanting to return a tool they used once / sorta of a free rental or needed instructions on how to use a tie wrap. This was my first time in this particular harbor freight I got in line at one of the registers when I hear someone yelling from across the store I look over and see it's one of the cashiers yelling to me to line up in aisle 6 I've never been told this at other harbor freights theres no signs and no lines painted anywhere. Went to the Florence Al. store today and I thought the cashier was rude. It all started when I bought a tool box for over $200 a few days ago and well I just got around to putting it all together recently and the last thing to go on was the box/lid. I spent 2 hours putting this together when the last thing was the lid and it was bent and would not close properly. Asked if I could return for another one and that was no problem but the problem was if they were going to put the new one together and that was when I got and unpolite NO. Well they had a display put together so when I asked if I could exchange for the display I got my second unpolite NO. Guess if I want a decent box I will spend 2 hours traveling back and forth to store, unpack in back of truck before leaving store to make sure it is not bent and possibly deal with more rudeness. read more

My first time here at this harbor freight and customer service was horrible the cashier that I was standing in line was ringing a customer and we didn't realize that we were waiting in the wrong line up until the cashier says he couldn't help us and made us wait in another line because he needed to help another customer.. like why not finish two more people then help your customer or since you made eye contact you can at least tell us that you are closed..... pfft read more

New store location is clean and well stocked, very affordable tools for home use. Would not recommend using their tools for commercial use. Check online and newspaper inserts for free items, extra savings and BOGO coupons, along with weekly deals. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THESE JACK AZZES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was in the need for a transfer pump, and at such an attractive price I decided to buy a predator 2 inch pump from this Manteca harbor freight, so I take it home and prep it (fuel & oil), prime it with water and the whole nine yards to get it fired up.the pump fired up like a champ but wouldn't pump and discharge at all... after clearing out fuel and cleaning it back up I headed back to the store to exchange. I was helped by Michelle (supervisor) whom noticed there was an efen drop of fuel still in it which I had to blow dry literally because it had to be completely dry or she could not exchange, after I was done she pokes at her computer register and tells me that she cannot exchange because of a new policy on gas engines where now you have to call a 1888 number to customer service and returns...omg was I freakin lit. I felt like someone kicked me on the balls!. I found my inner patience before opening my mouth and then explained to Michelle, that I had just a couple hours earlier bought the pump and a 1 year replacement plan and to top it off even bought a membership from them because the girl whom helped me said the membership would save me money, never did they explain this policy when I bought it...so I said "Michelle then what is the point of me buying the replacement plan from harbor freight if i have to call somewhere for help with a purchased item that didn't work right out of the box?. so then I kindly told Michelle that I would not leave until I either got a working pump or my $ back, after about 30 minutes of going back and forth with this stubborn woman she finally saw the light and eventually gave me my $ back because they didn't even have another in stock... so to you the reader I say stay away from these clowns their tools are of bad quality and their return policy is even worse when it comes to gas equipment. If you absolutely need something and you are on a tight budget fu*k it! Go in there a get what you need, sometimes you have no choice and it is what it is, however.... ask that they explain their return policy on what you buy. No one should have to go return / exchange something and then have to justify that it didn't work right out of the box, and explain it for 30 minutes, when you are already frustrated with the fact that you coughed up $200 + and wasted time trying to get it running and then drive back to exchange and then go through everything I explained above. Freakin fuc*in ey man! Wow, I went to the new harbor freight in Manteca and the Store manager was really nice and helpful she helped me get the right grinder for my husband. Yes they had a long line but it goes fast they are very nice and helpful.... People are so impatient and rude... i herd another customer yelling at her but she was really nice and tried to help him... some jerks cant be helped! Awesome service, clean, friendly staff!! Came Here all the way from Sacramento to get something that I was told that they had and barely made it in the nick of time. When i got Here they first said that they didn't have it but the manager nick took the time to go to the back and double checked. Thank goodness that our trip out here was not in vain bc they had them!! Super happy and will definitely be coming back again in the future!! Now that is what you call customer service!! read more

Two stars for this location. I've been here 3 times. Twice they posted a hand written "Closed for Maintenance" sign on the door during business hours. The latest was on 12/28 at 7:35pm. I hope this isn't a trend. Go to the Tracy store. At least they're open during their posted hours. read more
