And once again we're in another Target. Once again we stopped in to pick up some food and went exploring a bit in the store. We found some interesting items and toys and managed to find foods we've never seen before. I would say it turned out to be a successful shopping trip. We actually stopped in this location several times during our stay here and found much of what we needed. Lots of other good stores and restaurants in the same plaza they are in.

Organic meats, cheaper than Whole Foods!

Whoa. At several points in my trip to this Target today I forgot that I was at a Target, as there are aisles and aisles of poshly stocked shelves- loads of organic items and brands I typically have to visit Whole Foods to get, like the nitrite-free organic meats in the deli- and at a much better price. Noosa yogurts, too. A good quarter per item cheaper than my usual Jewel. There were staffers everywhere, stocking and restocking, very nice and helpful, asked if I needed anything. Friendly checker, too. Every thing that I needed was in stock as well as a boatload of Halloween decorations that I didn't truly need, but there you go. It's Target. It's hard to get out without dropping extra cash on cute/spooky stuff you really don't need. Great store. I'll come here more often.

Huge Target right around the corner from our hotel. Very big location. Clean and open aisles. Was not busy when I came at 9 pm on a weekday. Large parking lot. Needed last minutes milk, was in and out within a few minutes.

Empty....

This is about my third time going in this Target. I think it's too big... Perhaps this is why the cashier spoke so loudly to her fellow cashiers and other customers, (they all seemed to be having a grand time). However, her entire demeanor changed when it was my turn for service. She was curt and just on the edge of rude. I smiled. She did not. I greeted her, she barely responded. Perhaps, she thought I was someone else that she didn't like, but really; since when did recognition become a criteria for good, poor or bad service. Additionally, when did dressing modestly become optional? And showing off ones tattoo become acceptable - no matter where it is on ones chest? My friends and children have said I can not hide my thoughts, because I am expressive. Hence, I do not play poker. So, maybe it was my raised brow and pursed lips that was a dead give away for my shock at the behavior and appearance of this brusque, hefty and well endowed cashier. Respect was lacking for me and for her, because how can one give respect, when it seems apparent that you're lacking it for yourself. It's sad. I'm beginning to think I should settle myself down at my art table and just work on that metal series that I've had in the back of my head, (I've been painting on found metal)... Is the store clean. Yes. Are the prices ok. Yes. Can you find what you're looking for? Kind of - The layout is not like the other Target stores I've been to, (because it's too big) and there doesn't seem to be much in the way of customers - which is nice if you don't like crowds, however, probably not too good for profits. However, if your representatives are unhappy people who are loud and dressed inappropriately, however, in red... how are you going to get customers to return? Maybe I'm just too old...

Pokémon

I was just there and it was amazing. Everything was in order and it was perfect. Since I like Pokémon there was a big Pokémon section. It was a great price for it. They upped there prices a little bit but it's fine I understand.

They're always fully stocked! Too bad they don't have any workers. No one to answer questions, no one to help, no cashiers.

You've got to be quick in the outlet if you like something! We found a couch that we liked reasonably well (it wouldn't have been my ideal color but for such a hefty discount from list price we would accent it with colorful pillows and deal), but we wanted to check one other place and also grabbed lunch, which all told took about an hour. Came back and the only couch that was gone was...that one! It wasn't meant to be, obviously, but I couldn't believe how fast that moved. They have lots of options for living room, dining, bedroom and outdoor furniture with a modern aesthetic. Not as big a showroom as the one in Chicago, but the addition of the outlet is a bonus here.

This experience really changed how I feel about shopping with Room & Board…read more I understand the outlet model. I understand inventory turns over quickly. I understand that outlet purchases have to be made in person and that items can't be held. What bothered me was the refusal to answer a very basic question: "Is the item still there?" I live downtown Chicago. After renting a car, I had driven out to the outlet and found several pieces I liked, but couldn't immediately make another trip. I called because I didn't want to drive all the way back out there for nothing. I was told they don't provide outlet inventory information because it could create a "domino effect" with people calling about items that may sell before they arrive. I understand that inventory isn't guaranteed. But I'm not asking for a guarantee. I'm asking for information. "It's currently here, but it may sell before you arrive" would be completely reasonable. Instead, the answer was essentially that they simply won't tell you. I even tried going to the Room & Board location near me to see if someone there could call the outlet and check. I was told no five different ways, each response becoming more and more unacceptable. And that's when I thought: This isn't really about inventory anymore. This is about customer service. I was already a potential buyer. I was willing to make the trip. I was trying to figure out whether it was worth making the trip. Instead, I went home and started looking elsewhere -- and found comparable pieces online that were easier to purchase and had more flexible return options. So yes, maybe this is simply Room & Board's business model for its outlet. But customers are also allowed to decide that the experience isn't worth it. I'm perfectly willing to accept "We can't hold it." I'm perfectly willing to accept "It may be gone by the time you arrive." What I don't understand is "We won't even tell you whether it's there." That's not a great customer experience, and it's enough to make me take my money somewhere else. And maybe that's the point but that's another issue I don't care to tackle here.

The solarium atmosphere is stunning, the fountain is charming, and the greenery is lush and thoughtfully curated. From a design and aesthetic standpoint, it's incredible -- easily one of the most visually appealing dining spaces I've been in. The food was... good, but uneven. We started with the cheese and fruit platter, which was delicious and well done. The Caesar salad, however, missed the mark for me. And not because of the dressing -- it actually seemed like the lettuce had been freshly washed (which I appreciate), but it was still holding a lot of residual moisture. Unfortunately, that excess water diluted the Caesar dressing and left the salad soggy. That said, the croutons were to die for -- and that's saying something, because I usually hate croutons. For entrées, my husband ordered the salmon and I had the lobster roll. The lobster roll was excellent -- fresh, flavorful, and adding the caviar was the perfect touch. The salmon was cooked perfectly and tasted good, but it was nothing memorable. To be completely honest, it felt like something I could (and likely have) made at home. Well executed, just not special. Where the experience really fell apart for us was the service. Our server was absent for much of the meal and rarely checked back in. After we finished our entrées, he returned to clear the plates and apologized, explaining that he had been speaking with his manager. While that could be true, I spent many years working in the food service industry, and it's hard for me to understand why a manager would pull a server away from an active table for a prolonged conversation. Maybe that's what happened -- but regardless, it was a significant miss. Between the soggy salad, the standard salmon, and the spotty table service, I don't think we'll be returning. There are simply too many other places where a $200+ dinner feels more justified and better executed. I truly wanted to love this place -- the setting alone almost won me over -- but unfortunately, the overall experience didn't live up to the atmosphere.

If you're in love with the MCM design trend, this is the place to go! I found out about this shop…read morevia Etsy. It's essentially a huge warehouse in the Chicago suburbs that specializes in vintage mid century modern furniture. They have anything and everything that you could imagine, from super rare to more common pieces. Sofas, chairs, tables, room dividers, hutches, credenzas, lamps, decor....you name it and they'll very likely have it. Are you looking for something in particular? Let them know and they'll put out (nationwide) feelers out to locate it for you! I visited the store with a room divider in mind but once I saw it, I realized it was too small for the space intended. I found instead a Hansen sideboard and hutch that was perfect! John and Barry were very helpful in explaining the details...once you buy an item, it is then refinished to like new condition. You can also choose to purchase in original condition for a lesser price. For a surcharge they will do their best to recolor/match wood tones to a sample, if you desire. I had my teak piece lightened to match a walnut wood table. Tina was very helpful and communicative during this process. Although it wasn't an exact match, the overall tone blends and coordinates very well overall. That process took ~a month, then I was contacted by Andy the delivery driver. He actually wraps the items himself, and does an amazing job of delivery and set-up. I was quite impressed with how nicely the item looked in my space. I'll definitely shop here again; I only wish my house was larger!
