They have joined the likes of Chicago Costco poor quality. Once your tires are over 5 years old !(though u have trend left and half of the miles warranty ) they will sell you all new tires. The prices for items here are lower than the city Costco that we shop at. Plus to buy drinks is cheaper than the city. It's crowded on the weekends as all Costcos are. But the people seem to be more friendly and respectful as to not block the aisles. But since gas prices are lower the wait is ridiculously long. The way it was designed made it hard to just get out of the Costco parking lot. Nevertheless I'll still come out here to buy pop, water and ice tea. That's worth the trip in itself. Bought these water balloons in the city last year for $20. This year they are selling for $22. Found them here for $19. Didn't know all Costco's set their own price. People are fu$£ing obsessed with Costco and I kind of get it. They sell everything now and are getting into the home and car industries. Costco is slowly taking over the world. Would recommend for anyone who is looking for a car, has a big family, or likes free samples and hot dogs. We've been looking for a new car the past couple months. Places offered $4k over msrp to a haggled $1k over. We heard about car deals through Costco, stole my mother in law's card to look at deals and found it was $500 under msrp with a membership. So we immediately bought a $60 annual membership and went to the partner dealership to buy the car.  Most things food is in bulk so unless you can eat a $10 pound bag of onions, Costco groceries that can be used before it expires is just random items and frozen food. We got mussels there, a bunch of clementines, lobster pasta, tons of lettuce, and some other big items. Got enough toothpaste and shampoo to last us the year. Tries some free samples - pizza, dips, and  quesadillas. The food area is also nice, $1.50 for a hot dog and drink. Around $4 for a massive cheesy chicken bake thing that was disgusting and delicious.  We spent $60 and saved $1500 so that is obviously fantastic. Definitely look at Costco auto deals if you are looking for a car and a strange big, grocery/ department/ carnival for everyone else. read more

I have been a Costco member for 7-8 years now. I've been understanding about the recent changes to prevent the misuse/abuse if memberships and, up to now, have not had any negative experiences. This evening I was left disgusted and appalled and feeling extremely disrespected. I went to the North Riverside location with another person who has a separate membership, and we shared a cart for our items. When we were finished, we went to the self checkout and waited in line. Two adjacent registers opened and we each approached one to pay for our items. I was purchasing 2 large bags of dog food, so I asked the young man at the self checkout to scan them for me. He seemed confused and asked which register we were at and I pointed out that I was at the front and my companion at the middle. He then refused to allow me to use a separate register because we had shared a cart. I explained again that our transactions were completely separate and he replied "Yeah, but we're going to let other people use one register and you can use this one..." Once again, we have *separate memberships*. We were both shocked and upset by this treatment. I had 4 items and intended to go to the food court to make a purchase after checking out, but instead had to wait for my companion to finish before I could check out. I decided against spending more money in your store because of this, and, if I hadn't been so thrown off by the shock, I probably would have put everything back and taken my business to another location. I definitely will not be returning to this Costco location and I'm contemplating switching my dogs' food before December so that I don't have a reason to renew this membership. I guess Costco staff is so unhappy about having to police memberships that they feel they need to treat everyone like they are doing something wrong. This is the worst customer service I've received at Costco. The younger staff member who was working self checkout at 6:30pm, 10/11/24 needs to be retrained or taken out of public facing duties. read more

I don't recall which Costco I stopped at but I'll link them all in this review. The Chinatown one is very busy and sometimes carries more Asian inspired products first but very understandable. They're very helpful here and I didn't have trouble navigating the store. My main Costco is in Glenview since I know where to get most items, they just can't keep apple juices in stock, the gallon version. I am not a fan of the Costco in Chicago on Fullerton store. It's always a mad house and it's smaller and no place for gasoline. It's very crowded and I don't feel comfortable there. I've only been to the Mettawa Costco a few times but it's always clean. I haven't been there since Covid started though. There's always good prices but you still have to be aware of the cost per unit because other stores like Walgreens or Wal-mart accept coupons and sometimes the smaller units costs less than the bulk sizes. read more

I would probably try going to another Costco since I literally live between two of them. For the first time I was asked to go to the cashier instead of self check out. There was only one person checking out on the self check while there was a long line at the cashier. I did not want to wait langer than I had to. I resisted and told the young lady I would still like to do the self check out after all I'm basically doing their job. The young lady said that No and her manager Ricky did not want us do the self check out. I did not want to argue and proceeded to wait in the long line but I will most likely not come here again. My husband pushed the cart while I led him to the location of the equipment. He will be the one to grab the equipment and put it in the cart. After that we went to the organic section to buy organic earthworm castings. It is very important on our farm. We also bought seed and fertilizer for our rice plant. Some staff help us to put the organic and feltzer in our car. Well they have a great service. We spend a lot of money on buying those. I'm glad that we bought everything we need here. read more

I have a love-hate relationship with Costco. I can't be in here more than a half hour without experiencing rage at the size of the carts and seemingly lack of speed of my fellow shoppers but alas, I can't stay away from the cheap(er) gas, tasty samples and solid deals. The rotisserie chickens, food court pizzas, $5 massive croissants and Kirkland brand champagne are enough to offset the cost and annoyance of being a member. Also, Costco travel is 100% where it's at. We have taken several trips via this service and have had zero issues. There's nothing like arriving in Cancun and waltzing past the massive shuttle line for CheapCarribbean and going straight over to the Costco Travel line. But for the love of all things unholy please fix this parking lot. I do not have the skills or mental fortitude to navigate it on a Saturday with any kind of reliability. Also, I miss the food court chicken ceasar salad. We never knew how good we had it until it disappeared during the pandemic, never to return. read more

Their brand of eyeglasses are really BAD. Yes, they are a good price for sure. But you get what you pay for the Kirkland brand is very bad. Costco is one of the best large corporation in terms of social responsibility and customer service. They have a lenient return policy and nice food court. The items selected are usually of very good quality. This store is average in terms of time selection. Some Costco stores in richer areas have more nicer items. This one is moderate in terms of item quality. While the immediate area is lower ties, I'm surprised as it draws from all over Chicago. Costco is always a good choice! Have to admit the quality of their products is really great. The only problem is the packages are big and are convenient for a big families or businesses. Whenever I buy something I waste half of it, since the family of 2 (like ours) simply can't use the products before expiration date (the products are big). The gas is always of good quality and inexpensive. I also like the taste tests and road shows. The only thing missing is that they need to accept all credit cards like they claim, not just Visa debt and credit cards! That's very inconvenient! read more

After buying a 65" tv and sound bar at Costco and having it delivered I have learned that Costco is not as good or even close to being anywhere as good as Best Buy when it comes to major electronic. I tried posting the below review for the tv that I did buy and returned but Costco seems to not like bad reviews of them on their site. If your going to get anything other then toilet paper at Costco good luck. Below is my review of their tv buying experience. While the TV might have loot great inside I took this TV back the same day!!! The box looked like it fell off the truck and was dragged for a couple If blocks before getting to my house. I purchased an item from Costco.com. The item did not meet my needs, so I checked the return policy for online purchases. When I attempted to print the return shipping label, I received a message stating that I had to contact Customer Service (CS). I contacted them via online chat. The agent advised me to take the return to my local warehouse. I explained that the purchase was made with my Discover card, which is not accepted for I store purchases. The chat agent, initials MG, said that would not be a problem and they would credit my card. The store, however, said they could not credit my Discover, only Visa or issue a store credit. Not satisfactory! The clerk at the counter called CS, who told me all she could do was e mail me a return label (which would arrive in 5" to 24 hours). Then I could drop item at a UPS outlet , and when Costco was informed that the item was received and in transit, they'd issue the refund. She said that would take a few more days. My advice is don't expect accurate info from Costco online chat, and don't use Discover for online purchases! read more

I transferred all my prescriptions here because of its proximity and how kind everyone I had talked to had previously been. I come pick up my prescriptions and Alexis couldn't hold back her attitude with my questions or requests. I explained the usual questions you would at a pharmacy: My insurance didn't cover one med. I have two insurances. I asked about filling OTC products. She does not like her job. I'm transferring my meds out. Every time I come, I'll dread having to talk to her. Really bummed because I was so excited to have a nice pharmacy. As a pharmacy tech to pharmacy tech, Alexis, get a new job if you don't like this one. This Costco will always be my favorite one. I drive 30 miles from Naperville to come to this Costco because it's just such a better experience than the Naperville location. First, this is the only Costco that has my Cabot Habanero cheese. Seems like a silly reason, right? Wrong! This cheese is off the hook and eveytime I come to Costco I stock up because it's such a steal of a deal. Secondly, their tire center is so much nicer than Naperville. They're quick, courteous, and efficient. I always have a good experience when I come here. It's never been a 3 hour wait for something silly like a tire rotation. Even at their busiest, they turn cars around quickly. All of the staff at this location seem happy much happier than at other locations I've visited. It's always a pleasure coming into this location because only on the weekends is it crazy busy. This is my fourth time coming to Costco Tire warehouse. I purchased my tires for my Toyota van and steering has been shaking when I get the up above 40 miles an hour. Manager had me get suspension checked. After 2k in suspension work. I still have a vibrating car. Now the manger wants to rebalance the tires. This is the worst service from Costco tire shop ever. Why did he not check and balance the tires the first time. This has cost me time and money. After being a customer for 14 years. That's it for me!! Company can't handle growth. I have been a customer at Costco for a short time , I was just in the store a few days ago with my family and we stopped at the food court to get a quick pizza for dinner. The food court was extremely busy and I was worried I had to wait a long time. I asked if it would be a long wait and the young ladies at the counter greeted me with a smile and said, "they would get my order out as quickly as possible" . This was my first visit to Costco. While the store was clean, laid out conveniently, had service clerks that smiled and were helpful; it still reminded of Sam's Club. There was the LARGE quantity packages and floor to near ceiling product, and the warehouse/factory atmosphere... just like Sam's Club... So what's the difference? Costco offers payback rewards for shopping at their store. With the rewards you can renew your membership; unlike Sam's Club where you have to "pay" to shop at their "club", (I guess you have to initially pay for you membership at Costco, but after you shop there you are rewarded with payback. That's pretty neat. So, if you shop a lot you can get money off your purchases, a.k.a. saving money. The only downside of my visit to Costco was the "mocha freeze" I purchased. It tasted bad - too much "mocha". I added about 1/4c cream, when I got home which improved the taste dramatically. read more

I started coming here when the Bedford park location changed and started catering to restaurants and stores. Its an ok store they really need to work on their customer service. We ordered a pizza at the register when checking out and let them know at the pick up window. After waiting about 30 minutes and seeing everyone else get their pizza, we asked what happened to ours. Turns out they never made it...the problem is the person in charge there seemed to blame us for not waiting in line to let them know?? We let the pick up window know... what is the point of ordering when we are checking out if I still have to wait in line at the register to let you know I ordered a pizza and already paid for it?? At the parking lot a car hit my drivers side door left red marks and a dent, I called Costco and informed them. The Costco associate said they have no cameras in their parking lot it is just not in their budget, and that I should feel free to file a police report. The way he said it sounded so condescending and rude. I know its not Costco's fault, the jerk who hit my car is at fault. Even Sam's Club has cameras in their parking lot, maybe Costco should invest in some. read more

Nick (on tag, member since 2016), made our Costco experience here at North Riverside very smooth and easygoing. We had a lot of difficulty finding a particular pair of shoes in the clothing section and he not only helped us find the pair of shoes we were looking for, but also helped point us to other types of similar shoes that we may like and we ended leaving with not just pair of shoes but four in total. - He was very helpful, informative, and further asked my family if there is anything else that he can help us with. - He later put back all of the shoes we were trying on and told us not to worry that he can clean up from here and he had made us feel very welcome and he seemed genuinely happy that we have found comfortable shoes with his help! - I then saw him put all of the boxes of shoes that we had tried on. - Here at the North Riverside- Costco, if all employees are like Nick, then I'm sure continuous good experiences shopping here will pursue for everyone. They're not enforcing masks for the staff or customers. Had a run in with a customer who wasn't wearing a mask and she kept getting closer calling me scared. They also aren't handing out wipes for carts nor did I see staff wiping down carts. read more

What can I say about a store that has everything and tons of it? They're great, the store is close by, the gas is cheapest usually by 25 cents or more and the staff is really helpful. Not a bad store, but they don't give a lot of thought to how they restrict movement. If you have a shopping cart with items in it, there is no way to get to the bathrooms unless you abandon the cart on one side of the checkout registers. All paths between the store area and the bathrooms are blocked. Odds are, by the time you get back from the bathroom, some over-zealous employee has taken your cart and is reshelving your items. Similarly, if you pay for some items at the Pharmacy while picking up a prescription, there's no way to get a cart out of the store without standing in a checkout line (the second time). If you are lucky enough to find an open route through the checkout line, some store employee will stop you and try to 'correct' your 'mistake.' One other thought . . . Sam's Club is much better about ordering items online for store pickup. Most of Costco's inventory is NOT available for online ordering with a store pickup. If you know what you want, it just adds a lot of time to your trip. read more
