I had literally been going to this Walmart for DECADES. My family and I went to this Walmart when I was a kid. This Walmart did not always used to be a Supercenter. It expanded in size. It changed substantially over the years. The store has a good location. They had a wide selection and variety. They had almost anything that I could think of that I wanted to buy. It was nice having a store that I thought I could count on for stuff I wanted at a good price. I got food from this store that I enjoyed multiple times. I liked that I could get cheap prices on goods that I desired. I appreciated that the store had long hours, which was convenient for me. So I've been shopping at this location on and off for several years and never understood why this store location got such a bad rap. Well I found out this morning exactly why that is. I special ordered a tire for my suv a week earlier and it arrived at this store and I had a scheduled appointment for 7:00am and yes I was on time. The young lady at the service desk checked me in and she did state that there was only 1 service technician available at the time so it might take slightly longer. Let's fast forward 90 minutes. After wandering around the store for an hour and a half I still have not received any text updates regarding the progress on my vehicle. I take a walk back to the service department and there is different young lady standing there with her face planted in her cell phone and she barely acknowledges me. I look through the glass windows to the service bay and see my replacement tire just standing on the service bay floor but my vehicle is still in the parking lot (IT HASN'T MOVED IN OVER AN HOUR AND A HALF!) At this point I'm pretty upset, as much as I like shopping at Walmart, I do have better things to do with my time. I walk back into the service department and ask the young lady if she knows anything regarding the status of my vehicle. She seems quite oblivious and only says that they only 1 technician and she isn't sure what time another one will be coming in. After that non productive exchange, I decided to go to the customer service desk and ask for the store manager. I'm waited on promptly but told that there is no store manager available at the time however they do have a stand in manager that can help me. He arrives several minutes later and asks how he can help me. I tell him that I apologize for bringing him out to customer service as I'm sure he is also busy with other duties but I need voice my concern about the current situation regarding my vehicle and why it has not been pulled into the service bay. I explain to him that punctuality is crucial and that it makes absolutely zero sense for them to schedule me for a 7:00am appointment and have me waiting for over 90 minutes and not have anyone update me on the status of my vehicle. He tells me that he isn't sure why but goes back to the automotive department to investigate. After several minutes speaking with a few people in person and on the phone he approaches me and says that unfortunately there was some miscommunication among the staff and that one of the technicians had called off earlier that morning. I stood there a bit confused, I'm thinking okay that's fine but you still have a service technician in the bay not doing ANYTHING. He then proceeds to tell me that Walmart policy states that there shall be a minimum of 2 technicians in the service bay anytime work is being performed on a customer's vehicle. That information would have been nice to know AN HOUR AND FOURTY FIVE MINUTES AGO! Seriously, I felt like I was being punked by Ashton Kutcher. WTF kind of circus are they running here anyway? At this point I'm seriously pissed off so I ask him when another service technician will arrive. He tells me in about half an hour they are expecting one to arrive. I'm stuck, I need my tire replaced so I have to just wait some more time. By this time I'm tired of walking around the store wasting time so I order a Lyft ride to go get breakfast and lo and behold, I get not only a text but an actual phone call from the Walmart Automotive Department that my vehicle is ready for pickup. Of course this happens while I'm enjoying my breakfast. I finally head back to the store and it is 9:45am at this point. The automotive department seriously needs to post these policies for the customer to see because if you don't tell us then we simply won't know. Now I'm not telling you to not shop here or do business here but if you are in need of tires or any type of automotive maintenance, you may want to reconsider even thinking of this place. I visited this Walmart Supercenter location to check out what kettlebell selection it has in stock. Prior to visiting, I found that Walmart in general carries the Weider Cast Iron Kettlebell which happened to be my preferred style of a kettlebell to purchase. The location itself sits conveniently along Roosevelt Ave, right down the street from where I work, I add. And there is plenty of parking, as most Walmart's have. I am glad that I chose to visit this location and the time of the day I chose to visit because it was not crowded at all. I could have waited until my day off from work, then drove up to the location in either Skokie or Niles and encountered a much larger crowd of customers, but I gave this location a chance. Months ago, I visited this location and purchased a pair of unisex scrub top & bottoms by Scrubstar. In my opinion, Scrubstar is one of the more underrated and affordable brands I have encountered while shopping for hospital scrubs. And Walmart carries a variety of colors to choose from for mostly women. In order to beat the heavy evening traffic along Roosevelt Avenue, I kept this visit brief and only looked at items I encountered as I looked for the Kettlebells or while headed to the register. If someone would have told me two decades ago that Paris Hilton, who I used to watch on 'The Simple Life' would have cookware, ceramic bowl sets, mugs, and mini beauty fridges I would have laughed, literally! During this visit, it was one of the displays that grabbed my attention along with the cutest pair of glittery gold crocs in the women's section. At some point I would love to own a pair of crocs to wear as comfort footwear. As far as my kettlebell search, I would have preferred either a 15lb, 20lb or 25lb Weider Cast Iron Kettlebell but had to settle for a CAP, 15lb Neoprene Coated Kettlebell because I had no interest visiting another location in search for a Weider Cast Iron Kettlebell. There was a very limited selection of kettlebells shelved at this Walmart, and some of the prices were why I settled for the Neoprene Coated Kettlebell. I guess I can always upgrade as the time goes by. And besides! I can certainly handle working out in style, swinging around a sexy purple kettlebell at the park. Being that I had a good experience, I would gladly re-visit this Walmart Supercenter location again when in the area in need of anything particular to Walmart. Went back again for an oil change recently. Third attempt to get an oil change. Bottom line: they simply don't care to provide good customer service. Make an appointment; doesn't mean a thing. I was told to learn to speak English when asking a simple question about valve stems at the tire department. All employees back there continued to make comments about "people coming to this country and not speaking the language:" I hold two degrees and speak fluently. I had gotten my tires replaced back in December, since then they drove great until my tire pressure continuously kept getting low. I took it to my local tire shop and they told me that who ever put my tires on did a horrible job. My tires were leaking air from the seams, no punctures! You can't get through to anyone at the auto department to even asked for assistance. Save your money. read more

I wouldn't recommend this Wal-Mart to my enemy. The employees are unprofessional and poorly managed. There's always lines even with the self checkout added. The cashiers act like you are an inconvenience to them and they'd rather be in aisle 4 on their phones. Wal-Mart is literally down the street from me. But, I go 5 miles out the way to a Jewel's or Pete's to get better service, professional employees and managers who care. The shelves aren't stocked, but there's dolly's with food ALWAYS sitting in the isles. I went on Friday and you would have thought we were in the middle of the pandemic again. No eggs, or milk. He is not supposed to entertaine customers because he was too rude in conversation and does not know what he was typing in the computer giving all wrong information. I told him you are not polite to talk. He said I DONT GIVE A F***. I looked for store manager George but not able to meet him. I left my number with his assistant. George never called . I purchased a 75inch onn tv 4/21 and the box was torn, I waited 1 hour and 30 mins to speak with a coach or team lead (name was O) he inspected the tv and advised that it was ok , I asked him to plug it in and he stated it was ok. Got the tv home and the tv was shattered, I took the tv back to Walmart and I grabbed another tv and they expected me to pay a difference of $43 after I paid to have the the mounted ($120) then paid someone to bring the tv back to the store. They forgot to take Down a sign for a TLC television that had a sign for $148, box said $198, I asked the sales associate according to her manager of area, and she said it was $148, got to the counter with her and it wrang up.$198, everything on the sign matched the box, 1st she said it's not for a 4K tv, sign said 4K, then she said it was for a different Series, both box and sign said series 4, even read off the sku number and both matched and she wouldn't honor it, asked for store Manager (said they weren't there 3pm), asked for Assistant manager also said they weren't there, as a retail manager myself, I know there has to be a Manager on staff. This place is always dirty, always with boxes full of merchandise everywhere. The toilets are horrifying- PEE AND POO EVERYWHERE on the floors, toilets and the sinks are dirty and the floor is dirty with over flowing garbage. Ordered three times off the internet for grocery delivery- three times 2 of the items are always "out of stock" even though it's marked as available on the website. Three times now the drivers just dumped my food on the sidewalk outside of my apartment- food crushed and damaged and spilled. This Walmart is terrible. I purchased AirPods when they were on sale for $69. A month later they started acting up so I try and do an exchange. Customer Service told me they couldn't exchange them because they don't do exchanges anymore but they can only give me a refund. I tell them that wouldn't work because the AirPods are now $99 and that I would be have to pay more money. They said there is nothing they can do. What I got was them messing with my brakes to the point that they were suddenly loud and damaged. I am handicap and on oxygen and use a cane so I use the electric carts. since they installed all those self check outs there are hardly any cashier registered open. Today there were none. But is extremely hard for me to do the self check out and find this exasperating. I usually go to the outside pick up order but you have to spend $35 or more to use it. I seriously hate this store. I need to buy a lot of soil, like 20 bags of it, and the garden center is not open despite it being over 60° today. The people at the cash register cannot use the picture I took of the soil that I want to ring me up. They also don't have a way to look up the barcode like they would for something like a vegetable, so in order for me to get the soil, I have to put 20 bags in the cart and bring it into the store. Home Depot has a much better system. I'm so angry. Beyond that? Captain Marvel was the highest grossing film so far this year, and there's not a single Captain Marvel toy in the toy section. I see avengers Xfinity war. I even see toys for the avengers movie that hasn't even come out yet. But for the female superhero? No toys! It's so sexist and it makes me angry. Let's start by saying this place is never not crowded. There are always a ton of people there and NEVER enough lines open. So after fighting through a poorly designed store, you then get then luxury to wait in line. Last night on 11/27/18, there were 2 lines open and 2 out of 8 self service lines open. It's brutal. Haven't had a good experience here yet. Last time I was here, they were out of shopping carts so I pushed some back and told one of the employees. That employee, instead of letting someone know, told me to go find a guy in a yellow vest. I had multiple customers ask me if I work there. On top of that, someone even asked my 16 year old kid if they worked there. This time around, someone yelled "suck ass" over the speakers. Meanwhile they were sold out of ties and only had about ten dress shirts. Turns out the changing rooms were closed so couldn't even test/buy slacks. None of the computers had prices on them either. Meanwhile I'm waiting in one of about six lines with twenty people in each, which is why I have time to type this review. Store review: This place makes me want to lobotomize myself before going in. I have no choice but to stop by here to buy cheap vitamins etc. The parking lot is designed in a weird way that you can only enter through the middle section. I guess this is to funnel traffic. When you park you have to be careful of people scratching your cars. The store is relatively well stocked. You can speed up the checkout process by using self checkout. The staff is two thumbs down. I once checked out and forgot one of my bags. The cashier did not say anything, nor did she yell for me to come back. After walking a few steps away I realize that I left a bag behind and she had already placed the bag under her counter. I guess she wanted to take home what I forgot. Seriously why do you have to be so lazy? I can't believe I've never commented on this Wal-Mart. However, must be my day for being around rude people. This is my second Wal-Mart in one day! This Wal-Mart is one of three I frequent. Number one Wal-Mart is on route 83 near Oak Brook. This particular Wal-Mart vies for number two and three with the one out on North Ave. in Northlake. I live in the middle between the two, so it depends if I have to shop at the River Forest Jewel. Today, I was south, so Forest Park won... Now I can compare Forest Park Wal-Mart to the one way out in Glenwood. The chads are in and really they are about the same as far as service. No one went out of their way to be helpful or offer assistance. No one smiled. I had the same lovely cashiers that work the auto cash register that I've had before. They seem to hate their jobs. The only plus, is that they don't give me grief for checking out in the auto section, without having my car serviced, (you know, where you pay if you got the oil changed or tires rotated - did you know you can check out there? I don't check out a cart full, usually what I can carry, but you can check out there too - saves time). Still, they aren't ever happy. As for the store - once you learn the layout you can navigate pretty well, however the customers aren't very nice either. Why are the customers so unhappy? Maybe it's because the workers are so unhappy and don't spread a bit of joy around - I know I'm making you sick. But, my case in point - I went to the River Forest Jewel for my hubby's chips. The cashier was pleasant, friendly even; wasn't short with me when I made a mistake; and wished me a happy day - AND SHE SMILED!!! Maybe, I should just shop at K-Mart? read more

Normally I wouldn't be so harsh on a Walmart, it's not a place I go to quality or good service. I generally know what I get with a Walmart. This Walmart is another story. WOW this place sucks. Nobody here cares. The employees don't care and clearly their bosses don't care because nothing ever seems to change. Multiple times I have seen employees making calls and on FaceTime while working and even swearing loudly while making these calls. This is incredibly inappropriate, especially in a place where lots of people bring kids. Most of the employees seem very disinterested and I rarely experience polite interactions here. The only reason I go to this Walmart I is proximity, sometimes I go a few extra miles to the nearest Target because this Walmart is just so awful. read more
