Just received the worst service! Here is the breakdown:
1) waited in line to purchase party items and 6 $100 visa gift cards for raffle prizes for my company.
2) when the cashier started ringing me up, she picked up the phone and said a few things in Spanish, then continued to ring me up. After she got to the 5th gift card, she started telling me " wait, no more than two, no can ring, supervisor coming." I then asked her if they have a policy on gift cards. She said," no. No. Supervisor coming". She proceeded to speak Spanish to another cashier, and they exchanged a few more words in Spanish, but neither was able to shed some light in English. They just avoided making eye contact with me.
3) supervisor came, and started scolding the cashier about how she should NOT have activated the Visa gift cards over $100 on her own. Meanwhile, I am still standing there waiting, not sure what was going on. Finally, the supervisor turned to me and said, " you are really suppose to only buy 5. It is the maximum." So I asked if I can just buy another one separately. She said" yes".
4) waited in another line, since the supervisor shut down the line I was in so she could "coach" the cashier some more.
5) by the time it was my turn, the supervisor walked up," ma'am, you are maxed for the day. I cannot sell you another card." I said," I have been waiting in line for this, this is another transaction. I need to get these cards for today's business event." Supervisor said," well, there are lots of gift card frauds out there, people using stolen credit cards to buy gift cards and we have set the policy to address the issue, so 5 is the maximum." I, tried to be solution driven, asked," what if I just pay with cash?" She said," No! I already know you bought 5, so I cannot in good conscious let you buy another...you can send someone else to buy the 6th one." OMG!!!! I just couldn't believe this is happening!!!
6) I said, "fine, what if I buy 2 $50 ones? I don't have time to go back and forth and send people back to do this.".... She said" yes, we don't have a policy on the $50 ones."
Guys, they charge $5 per $50 Visa card and only $6 for $100 card. So I just paid an extra $4 because of the ridiculous policy. If the policy is to prevent fraud, you really think the criminal is going to care if he breaks it up in $50 increments and get charged additional fees? NO, he won't! So, this is really just another way to charge more money to the honest consumers!
Bottom line, poor policy, horrible communication ( you cannot have someone working at the front that can't even communicate basic English!), and today's experience is NOT customer centric at all!!!!
With Holiday right around the corner, this policy needs to be modified! read more
