New location: between Burlington and Carters. I mostly shop here around the holidays. Perfect for cheap gifts, candy, games, wrapping paper, and stocking stuffers. Selection is okay. I wasn't as excited as I used to be when they were at their other location. This store isn't very big. There isn't any staff around the help you find items. You can find a lot of cute items for a low price. They have a great gift bag, tissue, and balloon section too for parties.

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to learn tufting for the first time!! For those new to tufting,…read moretufting is essentially a texture manufacturing process where you insert yarn into a base fabric to create rugs. The lesson first starts off with choosing a simple base design. Our instructor specifically recommended a design with simple lines and colors to make it easier for our first ever rug, which was around $70. Using a projector, you will trace your image onto the fabric as a template for the rest for your work. Before starting with tufting, we then moved onto a mini tutorial on the ins and outs of using a tufting gun, from yarn insertion to how to create straight versus curved lines. Keep in mind you have to put a lot of pressure on the canvas to ensure that your yarn is being threaded correctly. Going through several practice sessions definitely made the transition to the entire tufting process easier. Starting our rug, we soon recognized how difficult and time consuming the rug tufting process was. Even simple design like ours (a cartoon dog) was a long lengthy process than anticipated and we ended up spending 3-4 hours for completion for one of the smaller size rugs. We were recommended to start from the inside out and using one color at a time, inserting lines of yearn about a fingers width to ensure completion of our rug. Though we initially struggled with creating finer lines, we eventually got the hang of it and were able to successfully complete our rug. Our instructor transitioned us into the final process, teaching us how to trim our rug and prepare it to take home. Personally based on the instructor teaching and supplies available, this class was well worth its price point. Overall, I would say tufting is an impressive skill that I learned for the first time and hope to come again to create more designs!

Just the right amount of help for every level…read more I brought in my special needs child and the staff was flexible and patient with helping all levels and abilities. The shop before hand did a great job with transparency and answering questions. It took longer than I thought to finish the project , but the music , staff and experience was overall fabulous!!!

This year was the first time I was a panelist, so I got to go for free! -The best of the best cosplayers come out! It's spring so the weather is a lot cooler and easier to cosplay. -Lots of vendors, artists, and B/C list celebrities. -Lots of panels to learn and entertain yourself at. -Lots of nearby hotel options that are reasonable priced. -Lots of great meetups. -Easy to buy a ticket.

This is his favorite convention between the 3. He's not into comic books per se, he's not into TCG's Trading Card Games and "Gaming", he's not into Cosplay ('tho doesn't mind dressing up or people watching), he's not into Artist's Alley nor Celebrities, and generally likes Lego, some video games and Star Wars. So for children 7-14, this is a good convention for many interests. The Lego they have here is primarily 2 main vendors and a few smaller ones who sell unlicensed brick (Lego styled designer imposter) "Mini-Figures" that has many characters that Lego never built, so are "custom" probably mass produced in China, accessible probably at Alibaba or Temu for cheap in bulk. They're usually $5 each or 5 for $20 at Wondercon. The Star Wars stuff is sparce, and they used to have a vendor who sold high end inspired (not licensed) Light Sabers. This convention has a really good representation of vintage to modern comic book back-issues in a focused area of the convention hall. If you collect comics this is equal in many ways to SDCC. The "Artists Alley" pales in comparison to what their creator area used to be with top names of writers, penciling artists and inker artists who appeared representing Marvel, DC and Indie (Dark Horse, Image, etc.) comic publishers who were top named talent. These days they have maybe a half dozen to dozen at best recognizable (mainly local talent) major names. This year (2026) there was Ron Lim, Don Ho, Jimmy Cheung, Norm Rapmund, Joel Gomez, David Mack and a few others. So, the comic book creator guest list continues to shrink (although this year Wondercon competed the same weekend as the C2E2 show, Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo. Parking was $25 on-site, but there's FREE parking about 0.5 to a 1.5 miles away walking distance in residential areas. Overall the show has become more of a "Pop Culture Expo" than a comic book convention, lacking presence by any of the big publishers with corporate booths (again, maybe C2E2 is a bigger show than Wondercon and that's where everyone went in '26). I see rooms of improvement revolving around revisiting the glory days of yore, and looking back at what once made Wondercon the 2nd biggest show on the West Coast behind San Diego Comic Con (and this is a SDCC sister show too, by the same organizers). As many have noted in the past decade, Wondercon was a better show when it was held in San Francisco. It's still a good show worth attending no matter what.
