Steve did a great job. We had 2 fluorescent fixtures with 4 tubes in each and he did a bypass to use LED tubes. He was a joy to work with. He bought the LED tubes for us and asked which color temperature we wanted. He also took the old ballasts and tubes with him after the job was finished so we don't need to take them to Kearney Mesa as hazardous waste. read more

I live "off the grid" so 100% of my electricity is from solar panels and battery storage. Recently my 21 year old system was starting to fail forcing me to continually run my generator. After researching and spending a large amount of time reading reviews online I contacted TARGET ELECTRIC & SOLAR for a quote. The next day they sent out an ELECTRICIAN to assess my needs and requirements. The following day I had a formal written quote. I had a few minor changes so they revised the quote. I told them I had an upcoming surgery scheduled so the timing was critical. I had just gone to Costco and loaded my freezer with over $300 in frozen food and that was going to melt down. The owner of Target Electric offered to let me put my food in his church/community centers freezers. I used my own church's freezers. Who does that? Target Electric laid out a three tier payment schedule and we got the project started. The components were shipped directly to my home and within a day or two the crew showed up and installed a complete solar system in one day. The owner followed up by phone checking in over the next two weeks to make certain the system was functioning properly which it was. The owner himself came made the long drive out to my house a week or two later to make certain everything was perfect. He even contacted me after my surgery to see how the surgery went. These are caring people. Target Electric is not only a solar installer but also a 25 plus year electrical company. They can install electrical panels and rewire your entire home if necessary. My dad had already recommended Target Electric that redid his light sockets in his home. We sent a request on the portal and I got a quick response and follow up. Pricing was clear for the service visit and they came out within HOURS! James came out and found the root cause of our light flickering and some opportunities to optimize our EV charging. I used Target Electric in the past to have all of the outlets changed out in my home in 2016. It was a good experience, however this last visit was less than satisfactory. The job was to install a can light and 3-way switch in the hallway. I had a preferred place of where I wanted the switch since there was an existing unused/covered outlet near newly installed cabinetry in the hall. I was advised the proposed location could not be utilized due to the outlet already being full of previous wiring (this outlet had previously powered the HVAC unit which was moved to the attic years ago, and new hall cabinets installed). We agreed that the preferred location was unviable and agreed on moving the location to the other side of the door at the SAME level as the "unusable" outlet. Here are the facts that cannot be disputed... I was NOT contacted to be advised the newly proposed switch placement would not work. Had I been advised that switch placement was not viable I would have gone without a 3-way switch. The worker moved the switch on his own accord 2-3" to the left of the botched location and installed it. The switch is NOT even with the other "unusable " switch cover. It sits 1/4" higher which is quite noticeable to the eye. The Target Electric installed switch housing is crooked. This is also quite noticeable. Upon speaking with Sean I was repeatedly told this is "par for the course" and that it isn't a big deal because I have a drywall crew coming in to do work in a completely different area of my home. Sean's solution was "well they can just go over it when they do the other drywall" and "well yeah the switch isn't straight, but they can fix that when they do your other drywall". I'm unsure when fixing drywall damage and straightening switches became another contractors responsibility and a cost I would have to incur... but to Sean apparently its "par for the course". The pictures don't lie. Sean however seems to be bending the truth quite a bit in his rebuttal. So just to be clear here, when I called Sean 5/14 to discuss the drywall damage and crooked light switch I did not ask for anything. I was calling to let him know I was not happy with the work his company had provided. I was calm, polite, and reasonable. Sean offered a refund of 1-hours labor which was $125. I accepted the proposed "refund" and thanked him for addressing the concern. Fast forward to 5/17, I have received no refund and no further communication which led to my wife calling Sean to express her concerns. Sean refused to take accountability for the work provided. So for any of you reading this review and considering giving Target Electric your business, look at my pictures and keep in mind that leaving a job site like this is "par for the course" as Sean so eloquently put it. As of 5/21, no refund of $125. As of 5/23, no refund of $125 has been received and we've been told via private message no refund will be issued unless we "take down the review". read more

I called Sean for a second opinion on a panel upgrade project that took an unexpected turn. TLDR; after prep work and on upgrade day SDGE came out and said they shouldn't run the new 200A wires without re-trenching and putting in new conduit. I called Sean for advice on whether or not the costs were reasonable and whether my original electrical hire was doing a good job. Sean patiently listened while I explained that I needed a second opinion and what had happened. We were on the phone for over 12 minutes and I never felt rushed by him. He patiently explained his thought process to me and he sounded experienced and trustworthy. He ended up saying that the original electrical hire had ballpark reasonable prices and what happened was unfortunate but not their fault. Sometimes you learn a lot about a person after just minutes. I would recommend Sean and Target Electric to anyone looking for quality electrical work at a reasonable price. I will think of them for my future projects. read more

It really was a pleasure working with the Target Electric team. Great communication, competitive pricing, and quality engineering. They helped us with two challenging projects, both involving running wire up three stories from a crawlspace in an old house. We were pressed for time and Sean worked within our schedule and budget. Steve did an amazing job. The route from the crawlspace to the top floor is really challenging. On the first project, he found a really clean way to get wire where we needed it with shockingly minimal damage to the walls given how brittle our plaster on lathe walls are. The second project required an exterior conduit, and he was able to find a well-hidden spot that didn't require scaffolding for installing (the house is on a steep hillside). Steve and Sean are absolutely wonderful to work with. We had gotten a few bids, and while they weren't the least expensive, they absolutely gave me the care and attention our house deserved. Here is the work they performed for us: 1. Install floor boxes into our concrete slab. After working with us about the outlet placement and an additional box for speaker wire they rented a concrete cutter and cut the channel from the wall to the two areas where we had specified for the boxes. Installed the conduit and boxes and re-poured the concrete to finish off the work. They also hauled the old concrete away for me. 2. We had a lot of old square style can lights that Steve replaced with small, modern, 3" LED downlights. We also added lights in the bedrooms as they had no built in overhead lighting. He worked with me at length to make sure the placement of the cans were exactly where I wanted them, as well making sure they were all even and equa-distant from each other and the walls. 3. He also replaced the fluorescent fixtures in my garage with LED shop lights, and again, made sure they were evenly spaced and exactly where we wanted them. The care that Steve puts into making sure that I was happy with the work is what I was missing about all the other people I got bids from. He talks to you like a normal person, not just someone who he's bidding to. My one and only small criticism is that Steve can be a little messy, but was absolutely not worth reducing to 4 stars over. read more

Time for a new ceiling fixture in the dining room. Needed to have the fan/light taken down, new fixture installed with dimmer switch. I've never given a Yelp or any review but this company definitely deserves 5 stars...If I could give them 10+ I would.. I needed a 50-year-old electrical panel relocated due to new codes in order to get Insurance for a condo. Found Target on Angis List. I called a couple of companies and was very impressed that 1st of all, Sean (I believe the owner) answered and he gave me a 'guesstimate' over the phone. The others wanted to come out. I didn't have the time. This was on a Friday and I needed it done by the following Tuesday. Sean had his people there on Monday am. Took all Monday and 1/2 day Tuesday. It was a bigger job than he thought because of it having to be relocated out of a closet into the hallway. It was more than the estimate, but not ridiculous. His price was definitely fair and reasonable for the amount of time. He kept me in the loop as to everything that was happening. I own a small business with large kilns. I have found that not just anyone can or will work on our equipment. Half our unit's electricity went out, while we were open one morning. SDGE came out twice and couldn't help. I called Target Electric and within three hours they had arrived. I received good, clear communication, so my expectations were set appropriately. The amount billed was reasonable, but not cheap. If you want cheap you will get cheap. If you want a licensed electrician who is a member of the BBB, explains pricing, shows up on time, does excellent work & completely cleans up behind themselves, you can call this business & pay them a fair rate. I can't believe how helpful Sean was! I called with an issue I was having with a gfci outlet. I tried some basic steps and replaced the outlet, but I reached the limits of my knowledge...so I called to schedule an appointment that would no doubt cost a bit to even get a person to come to my house. Sean listened to my issue and what I did so far. He then suggested I go to a gfci outlet in the adjacent room and try resetting those.. Boom that fixed it! He could have remained silent and charged me a few hundred to come and press a button, but he didn't. Seriously, this is now my go to for all future electrical issues! Update 10-22-18: I called Sean to come look at some things because my circuits kept tripping and I noticed some sparks when turning on certain switches. Anyways, I was very happy with his service! He got everything fixed and discovered a huge hazard in my attic... Apparently there was a loose hot wire that was just lying on the insulation. I saw it and no joke, just exposed wiring with electricity running through it lying there!! Not only did he fix my initial problem but he found a huge hazard that could have led to something very very very bad, like a burned down house. read more

We just purchased a new hot tub and needed an adjustment to our outside outlet to accommodate it. I reached out to Target Electric to help. We already had the hot-tub filled with water so we needed quick work. Initially Sean reached out to me to set up the appointment and give me an estimate. Luckily they were able to come out within a couple of days. James was my technician and called when he was on his way. He arrived in a timely manner and had everything he needed for the job. Target charged me $3000 for 1 partial day, 5 hours of work for 2 electricians, cash up front before starting work (against the law). No written quote or contract (unethical). They refused to return for 1 hour work to complete final connections in a timely manner and scheduled to come back 2 months later. Of course I could not wait 2 months for bedroom and bathroom lights and power outlets, so I had to hire another electrician to complete the work. I requested refund of $1200 and was denied. I have filed a complaint with Contractors State License Board. This was a bad rip off experience and will go to court if necessary. read more

Sean of Target Electric did a great job for us upgrading our panel and installing a 240v car charger outlet about six years ago. We haven't needed him since, but when a circuit went out yesterday and all our breakers were still on I called him. He answered immediately, saying we could set up a service visit, but that there were a couple of things I should try first. I'd tested and reset the GFIs that were near the outage, but this didn't help. Sean surprised me when he said I should try them all over the house. Sure enough, a GFI much farther from the dead outlet had tripped. All's well now, and we were saved the cost of service! We will absolutely stick with Target for any future work. read more

After doing a considerable amount of research and feeling very let down and somewhat uncomfortable with the "professionals" out there in the local market, I finally found Target Electric, and more specifically, the company's owner, Sean. From the moment I spoke with Sean, he made me feel confident, not only in his technical ability, but also in his ability to provide the highest quality of service for a very reasonable price. Sean was polite, professional and courteous on the phone and went out of his way to squeeze us into his schedule on very short notice. He arrived on time and went to work immediately to ensure that we were not overcharged for any additional time on the job. I was actually away from my home when he was working (my wife and 2 year old were home at the time) and Sean called me throughout the job to give me status updates which I greatly appreciated. When the job was complete, he called to let me know exactly what he had done and ensured that when I arrived home, I would be satisfied. I arrived home about an hour later and found that our old chandelier had been removed and the new one had been installed and the work area was spotless. The job required a fair amount of invasive work but there was no sign of drywall debris and no mess at all to speak of. Sean made quick work of the situation (a fair amount of rewiring) which several others quoted at multiple hours. Sean and Target Electric are polite, professional, affordable and beyond all else, TRUSTWORTHY. I walked away getting exactly what I had hoped for and more. Ben came out to my house the last couple of days and I am happy to say that he did an awesome job! My project: mount not only the speakers for my tv in the living room but also hide all the wires behind the wall. Now, from what I understand, this is usually an "easy" task, but the wall that I wanted the speakers to be mounted on had very thick beams with nails everywhere and on top of that very thick insulation so that made it hard to drill in the wall to create the pathway for the speakers to go to. So it was not one of those walk in the park kind of job as I and these guys had initially anticipated.... The thing is that I am one of those "anal" people that wants things as perfectly done as much as possible. I also did not want any huge walls on my living room wall. Ben was all about that as well. First day/night Ben came out, he actually didn't have proper equipment since he was in an impression that it was an easy job. Because I didn't want any big holes on my wall, and he understood that, he really did this the hard way in my opinion because he didn't have everything he needed this night. Despite that fact, he went at it for about 4-5 hours and into about 10pm. After finding that he just needs better equipment (he did everything he possibly can to work with what he had to finish the job on the same day for my convenience) we have decided to call it a night and have him come back the next day to finish. Next night, I didn't get off work until 6pm-ish so he came out there at 7pm to accommodate my schedule and worked on it until almost midnight! He was very determined to make sure that things were done right. Long story short, he brought all the necessary equipment this time around, and even though it took much longer time than anticipated, all I cared about the whole thing was the finished product and Ben did a GREAT JOB minimizing the sizes of the holes he put on my living room wall and hiding all wires behind the wall. Ben really is a cool dude and he really takes great pride with his work. No matter how hard the drilling was inside my wall or how difficult it was to get the wires in position where it needs to be, the most important thing is that he got it done in the end. Sean is A+! He and James hung 3 light fixtures in my home and they did a fantastic job. Beyond what I could have hoped for. No holes in the drywall and they took the time to do the job 'right' they were artists when it came to hanging the fixtures so they matched the photo on the brochure. There were a few scuffs on the fixture from the manufacturer and Sean got out a Sharpie to cover them up! They even took the time to wipe down the fixture and the glass bulbs to make sure there were no fingerprints or dust. I'm telling you... I was blown away. Not only was the workmanship above par, the service was also exceptional. Sean is very professional and customer service oriented.
