Richard, the owner of Oz Electric, replaced our main electrical panel and did an amazing job. It was a several month process because of all of the red tape, delays, and stipulations made by SDG&E. Per SDG&E a 45 foot trench had to be dug and they kept changing the specifications of how deep and how far the trench was supposed to be. Richard kept in constant contact with them and the trench company to ensure the project kept moving forward as fast as possible. On three different occasions he came out on a Saturday or Sunday at no extra charge to make sure everything was correct for Monday inspections by SDG&E. Along the way Richard also installed/replaced some exterior lights and did a fantastic job. I can't say enough about Richard's integrity, professionalism, and dedication to doing an excellent job. I was referred to OZ by a neighbor who had nothing but great things to say. I'm echoing those sentiments. Richard, the owner, came out on the same day as I called and gave me a competitive estimate. He is communicative and approachable. I'm putting in PV solar, so he had to coordinate with my solar installer. I listened to one conversation and it was clear they spoke the same (technical) language. This was the company to choose. On the day they did the install the crew, Roberto and Xavier including Richard, all rolled up to my house at the same time & on time! They got to work right away. Eight hours later the place was cleaned up and my service panel was upgraded to 300 amps. The install is clean, level, and caulked. Breakers are labeled and in the same locations as before. I wanted to give an update now that I've had a chance to put some stress on the new fuse box. We've had the AC running non-stop the last few weeks because of the heat/ humidity, in additions we've been running the washer and dryer, TV, fans, lights, and probably even the dishwasher once or twice all at the same time. With all those things active we have not lost power or tripped a fuse like we were constantly doing before when only turning on a light. Rich told us we would be good with 125 amp (which SDG&E later confirmed) even though he would have made more money if we went to 200 amps. Rich knows what he's doing. read more

Was referred to Oz Electric by Fan Diego, where we bought some ceiling fans for our home. We needed one installed in our living room where it was 20 ft high so I was not gonna do that myself. Called their secretary over the phone and she was very polite and friendly. And Richard who came for a quote and installed the fan was very friendly and courteous. Took the time to set up tarps on the floor and plastics over furniture where he was gonna work and walk; even though i doubt there was much debris from installing a ceiling fan. Plus, he even helped put back my couch in the living room and offered to move some other furniture back when he was done. From the first phone call to schedule the worm, this place won my vote. Patty was super nice on the phone and very professional and worked with to find an apt time. Oz recently installed an electric fan to our roof to help extract heat from the attic. Calling them for this was one of the best things we've done in the three years we've owned our home. It works very well and doesn't take a lot of power. The guys who installed it were extremely professional and quick with the job. Having your water heater break down in mid-December can be a bit stress-inducing. Our gas water heater started leaking on Saturday, 12/15. I had long been planning to replace this fourteen year-old unit with a more environmentally friendly option--an energy sipping hybrid heat pump water heater, which runs on electricity, not gas. This option made sense for us because we have solar panels on our roof. Early last year I had gotten estimates from our plumber and electrician in anticipation of the inevitable breakdown. When the gas unit finally broke down, I wanted to put in place the long-desired water heater switch-out plan, but had concerns because it was the third week of December, the hot water had run out, we had guests coming for Christmas, and there was water leaking out on our garage floor. During the next week, we were able to get our plumber over to remove the old leaker and install the new unit, ordered through Lowe's. To switch it on and get hot water, however, we needed an electrician to set up a circuit, run a line from our panel to the new unit and make the connections. We knew about Oz Electric from a friend who had done a similar water heater switch-out project. A day or two after the gas unit broke down, I contacted Patty at Oz and she said that Richard's next available appointment wasn't until January. Once he understood our hot waterless situation, however, Richard, even though he generally does not work on Saturdays, offered to do the work on Saturday, 12/22 (three days before Christmas!). He arrived on time, then expertly assessed our situation and explained what needed to be done. After picking up parts, he got to work, consulted with us when necessary, always in a friendly and professional manner, and did not leave until he was assured the unit was on and running. Such excellent service doesn't come cheap, but Richard said that it would be fine if we wanted to make payment through Patty at the office on Monday, 12/24. Overall, we were very impressed with Oz Electric, plan to hire them for future needs and strongly recommend them to anyone in need of an electrician in the San Diego area. read more

My experience with this company was excellent! I contacted them to install a ceiling fan/light and address a few other electrical concerns. A very nice woman scheduled the appt. for me. The technician was there at exactly the time she said he would be! He was extremely knowledgeable, professional and friendly. He put the fan in and resolved all the other problems. One of the things he did was replace a screw in a porch light. He actually painted the screw so it would match the rest of the light. His attention to detail was remarkable. Oh, and the price was very reasonable. So good in fact, I wanted to make sure they hadn't made a mistake - they hadn't! I contacted OZ (Richard the owner) for couple tasks at my place: 1) adding an outlet in the attic 2) replace the motion sensor fog lights 3) adding an outlet outdoor in the yard They came highly recommended by my colleagues at Qualcomm. They arrived on-time, did a clean job, professional. I was happy with items 2 & 3. However, item 1 was not done properly. There is no electricity on the outlet that was added in the attic. I contacted Rich on his official business phone, his cellphone, and explained. He made an appointment to come over and fix it. He came back with a text message later that day that his son is sick and cannot make it. That was the last time I heard from him despite multiple voice mails, emails, and text messages. I hope everything is good with his son. But I must say I am deeply disappointed by his lack of customer service in this case. We contacted OZ Electric, for an estimate last month, and the owner Richard Osborn came out. My husband and I, had just purchased a new home in Mission Hills (1918 era), and our home inspector suggested that we have our wiring inspected immediately. The inspector suggested that we update with grounded romex wiring, and update our electrical panel box, because it has original fuses. We received Three estimates, and OZ Electric's estimate was a little higher than the others, but much more detailed. When Richard, walked the project with us, he gave us a ton of suggestions that none of the other contractor's gave (they only listened, no suggestions). He knew exactly how to install my ceiling fans and was able to troubleshoot and get everything done in a timely fashion.
