Disappointed. I've used this company in the past for some electrical projects and all was fine but I recently used them to install a ceiling fan that did not go well. Two months after the fan was installed (with little to no use) it started to fall through my ceiling. Now, I'll preface this by saying I understand things happen but the response from Mike was unacceptable. I had a different company come out and fix the fan because this of course happened on a weekend and they're not open on weekends. The other electrician informed me that only one thread bolt was installed on the fan box causing it to drop. One thread bolt is fine for lighting fixtures but not fans because of the torque. When I informed Mike of the situation he denied any responsibility and told me that it probably just came loose since it had been TWO months. Is a ceiling fan supposed to come loose after two months?! He then mentioned it looked like the box came loose and that's not his responsibility. Okay, but had your electrician informed me that I needed a new box or additional items, I would have gladly purchased them. I would think if you're installing anything, you would ensure all needed items are compliant and if not, you would notify the customer. Regardless of the fan breaking through my ceiling, the fact that there was zero accountability and zero remorse is enough for me to never use Raceway electric again. read more

I requested a home call based on Eddie's write-up thinking they would be perfect for my Craftsman North Park home now and in the future. I had an outage in my kitchen involving 3 outlets and 2 overhead lights. I had already checked the outlets, pressing the red and black buttons alternately, checked the trip box and tripped the switches, and had no luck. When the technician arrived, his first act was to try the red and black buttons, and everything came on. Of course I was shocked, thinking I had already done that. Come to find out my 87-year-old, arthritic fingers hadn't done their job. I thought for sure the business would do the right thing and at least offer to split the $185.00 home visit fee. No deal. I initially hired Raceway Electric to install a transfer switch for my generator, and the installation went smoothly with no issues. However, I made the mistake of not testing it right after the installation, so I wasn't familiar with how to use it when a power outage actually occurred. Recently, when SDGE shut off the power in Ramona, I pulled out my generator and flipped everything on, but there was no power. I was panicking, because the outage was scheduled for at least three days. I decided to call Raceway Electric, hoping they could help--even though it had been over six months since the installation. To my surprise, they sent Mike to check it out. Mike drove from La Mesa to Ramona. Mike discovered that the switch was set to 120V instead of 240V, which was the issue. I felt a little embarrassed, but I was so grateful he came out to help. Thanks to him, I had power during the outage, avoided spoiled food, and made it through the next few days comfortably. They did do the work quickly, about 20 minutes. As requested , I sent photos the day before to make sure they had the proper replacement breaker. When the tech showed up, he did not have the correct breaker. We were told that he had two on his truck that would work. They did work but appear to be used, old or? They told me they were just dusty, see for yourself. I'm including a photo, they are the two smaller breakers. They charged me $165 for parts that appear used. Steer clear. Ripped me off of a $350 deposit to add a new service panel. Nothing was done and they drug it out for months. While I was waiting for the panel upgrade, I foolishly allowed them to do some work in the meantime that I paid for. Some of the work was shoddy but I still paid them even though they charge $120 per hour plus a 30% markup on any supplies they use. They later tried to charge me a 2nd time for the same shoddy work. We had Raceway do complete wiring and installation for three new 52-inch ceiling fans in our condo (with no existing wiring), a pretty big job. Quite a lot of work, especially running the new wiring to a plug in a room with high ceilings. It was a full day's work, and Mike (Dombo) and Billy did a great job. Such great work that we also had them run a dedicated circuit to our 3rd floor balcony for an outdoor electric grill. One hour or so, and it was done. They worked fast, left the areas spotless, and the prices were exactly as agreed. They did not do the replacement of the drywall "holes" for running wire, but recommended a guy that also did superb patching and painting, and were available the next day. I'll try to post a couple photos to better explaining what I'm talking about here. Two days start to finish, the fans look like they've always been here, and we can see no trace anywhere of the 50+ holes cut, patched and painted. Raceway has subsequently done work for several of our neighbors as well. Really great work, reasonably priced, and left everything spotless. We could not be happier with the work. My Realtor recommended Raceway Electric for an initial inspection before I purchased my home back in April 2014. On short notice, Eddie was able to come out and identify costs so I could negotiate price concessions before closing. After I bought they home, I ended up having them come back to do the updates to bring several items up to code. Since then I have had them come back to do work 3-4 times more this year - from adding electric in my garage so I could install my new garage door, to installing recessed lighting throughout my kitchen and living room. I had a handful of projects that needed to get done but the electrician I had used in the past who had worked on getting our home and garage electrical system up to date stopped responding to calls and emails. I called Raceway and Mike came out really quickly, walked through each project with me and helped figure out where the last electrician had left off so we could finish the work. He also pointed out other things he noticed that weren't up to code so we could put that on our longer term list of fixes for our 1960's house. His bid was very fair and after I accepted it online, someone from the office called me the next day to schedule the work. The day of, two electricians showed up and divvied up the work so they could get it done in a few hours. They were great at communicating as they went about progress and any issues they encountered and did a nice job cleaning up after themselves. At the end of the day, I had the sub panel in my garage fixed, and exterior switch and outlet brought up to code, 4 exterior lights installed, a ceiling fan installed, and a broken GFCI outlet replaced for a very reasonable price. Raceway completed one-part of a two-part project. I paid them (cashier's check) for the first part of the project on the day they completed the first part. Shortly thereafter I became seriosly ill with an infection in both lungs. When I was well, approx 90 days later, they were "much too busy with big projects" to complete the second part of the work. This was a small project related to a dishwasher and hot water heater installation. The quality of their work was excellent. But they only completed one part of a two-part project. Very disappointed. I had three fans that needed to be looked at as they weren't working as they should, and my house was in escrow. Two fans, they fixed. One fan they ruined. The light would spontaneously turn on and off - this was the only thing wrong with it. He explained it was the coding in the remote, and the neighbor might have the same code, thus spontaneously turning it on and off. He said he could fix it. He adjusted the code, then took down the fan/light to work on it. Now, it the fan doesn't work at all, either by using the remote or the switch. The light only works with the switch. It is MUCH worse than before they came. To close escrow, I now need to get a new fan, and have another electrician come out (I don't dare have them come back). A job that should have cost about $550 is now at least $1,000. We called the owner to complain, he denied the fan worked before he came, even though he tested it. Bad integrity of this company, I am more than disappointed. read more
