I called Kennedy electric looking to see if Charles could come to my area (Charles was my electrician from his previous company) and luckily Tom the owner picked up. Tom was very cordial and patient with me spending 15 mins on the phone with me as I discussed my issues and he calmed me down and walked me through what I should do- walk around checking smaller appliances 110/120 volts see if they still work. I have had a lot of problems in the past with electricians, especially on the issue of pricing. I called Kennedy Electric after conducting research on Yelp to hang a new chandelier in my dining room. The woman on the phone was very helpful and efficient, and within a few days a man came to the house and hung the chandelier perfectly. I had some issues with insufficient chain for the suspension from the ceiling, but the installer worked it out and the chandelier is at the exact height I wanted above my table. A few months later, I needed a new front porch lantern installed which had some issues with the back plate and the narrowness of the available mounting space, but again, the installer was able to work out the details to my satisfaction. He also came inside and moved a light switch and mounted lighting sconce a foot to the right of their original positions to allow for a new closet to be installed, and everything was performed with efficiency and care. And to top it all off, the pricing for the work is fair and reasonable. I highly recommend Kennedy Electric. read more

It is not surprising to me that Anna is not truthful about this situation. First of all, the wall switches were removed and replaced 7 years ago when I had the house remodeled, a subpanel installed, and the main panel upgraded. If this wall switch or any other wall switch looked this bad, you can bet that I would not have overlooked it. The tech's claim that it was originally installed incorrectly is just not true. It appears that the tech has a problem with the truth. Anna claims that "the tech thought he was working with Yung K all along." When he called to let me know that he was on his way for the very first appointment, I explained to him that I had a work emergency but I made arrangements for someone to be present at my residence. Also, while he was there, the original ceiling box had to be swapped out and he asked my friend to contact me for approval to pay the $37.37 (a 800% to 2000% markup from Home Depot, btw), for a ceiling fan box enclosure. So saying he thought he was "working with Yung K" is another lie on his part. In regards to the follow-up appointment, the tech apparently told Anna that he contacted me to let me know he was running late at 4:30pm. This was another flat out lie and I took a snapshot of my call log and emailed it back to Anna showing her that he called me at 4:58pm, 2 minutes before the window was up. Anna even thanked me for bringing this to her attention and that she was "absolutely misinformed by my tech and that will be dealt with." No apologies were offered. Only then after that email did she offer to send the owner or another technician to come out again. I waited after the initial install to post this review. I do understand that companies do not have control over their employees, and in this case, Gustavo's "workmanship" or lies. However, what they do have control over is how an unhappy customer's concerns are handled. In this case, it went from charging an additional $170 to swap out 1 wall switch, to suggesting caulk be generously applied to give it a flushed look, to suggesting that I "had no idea that the box was installed incorrectly" (because my lack of expertise can not distinguish when a switch is sticking out of the wall and not flushed), and finally to a follow-up appointment that wasted more of my time which I offered up for an amicable resolution. Should I give Kennedy Electric yet another chance to come out again after two failed appointments? I probably would have had Anna been a little more apologetic and a lot less accusatory and defensive. You can see it in her Yelp response. The bottom line for you Yelpers out there is that you can roll the dice with Kennedy Electric and hope you get a good end product. But if you are unhappy or if there are questionable workmanship issues, things you can expect are additional costs and a defensive and unapologetic response. There are way too many other better options out there than to take your chances with this company. Also FYI, I called Zapp Electric, Ideal Electric, Point Loma Electric, and Alvarado Electric to ask how much replacing one existing wall fiber box to accommodate a new switch would cost. The price quotes I received ranged from $60-$90. Kennedy Electric quoted $170 for the exact same work. I have emails to back up all my exchanges with Anna in regards to how this unpleasant situation transpired. It has been an unfortunate waste of my time dealing with Kennedy Electric and I hope I can save others from this grief. read more

I hired Kennedy Electric when I received a coupon in the mail. The lady who made my appointment was kind and courteous. I got an appointment the next day. Gus came over to remove a ceiling fan and hang a new light fixture. He was professional and efficient. He helped me figure out how long the chain should be and gave me a piece of chain he had in his truck. Upon completion of the job, he asked if there was anything else. I asked him to help me remove a bulb that I couldn't get out. He removed the bulb and tightened the base for me. Price for the small job was well below what I would have expected. I was referred to Kennedy Electric through my home warranty company. They had previously assigned another company to my claim and after close to a month of them not contacting me to setup an appointment my warranty company assigned my claim to Kennedy Electric. Kennedy Electric called me that SAME day to setup an appointment and they offered to come out the next day. AWESOME!!! Anna is very was very polite. The tech that came out I believe was MIKE... and he went above and beyond expectations. My appointment window was between 3-5 pm and he was there by 3. Thats always a plus. Its annoying when they give you a window period and dont get there 5 minutes close to the end of the window period. And it beats those 4-5 hour window periods. Anyhow, back to Mike..... He provided information that was extremly helpful and was definetly knowledable about his line of work. He did some troublshooting, he completed some repairs in my electrical wiring and replaced some outlet covers etc. I would definetly look at doing business with Kennedy Electric in the future. I wish my home warranty company would had assigned them to me in the first place, but either way I'm glad Kennedy was able to come out and take care of the issues for me. I was recently battling rats in my attic, and I was afraid the little rascals had done some damage to wiring above one of the rooms. After getting the rodent problem under control (thanks, Total Control Pest Management!), I had Kennedy Electric come out to take a look at things. The phone conversation I had setting up the inspection was a textbook example of stellar customer service. So friendly and knowledgeable! I had a good feeling about Kennedy from the get-go. The electrician who did the inspection, Mike, was a total pro. Not only did he arrive a little early, but he got right to work, checked everything out, and gave me a clear explanation of what he saw. Thankfully, the rats hadn't done chewing as I had suspected, and Mike did a couple precautionary things for me to make sure we were safe in the future. He was very honest and didn't try to upsell me on anything. I'm definitely going to keep Kennedy in mind for any future electrical work I need done in my home. The apartments I live in had this company work on our electric. The man they sent to change the lights around our building was having a personally phone call/conversation on a latter feet from my open window. I had to leave my zoom call (I go to college on line due to COVID) because this man during his phone called decided to use words like, "retard" and made comments about the residents in the building he was servicing... he then proceeded to tell me, after I enquired about the company he worked for, "you should have told me to shut up," as if it was my job to tell a grown ass ma. AMAZING. Mike identified why almost all lights and outlets went out (burned circuit breaker) within 2 minutes of walking in the door. Then rewired/fixed both fans in bathrooms so fans worked on one switch and lights on another. (I had installed a light and fan to replace a sun lamp) Lights and fan in main bath have not worked for a year- reason... the wire was loose/not connected at the light switch. Checked out both fans in bedrooms and said not wired to light switch. Identified 2 large 30 amp breakers connected to nothing (1 for washer / dryer outlet never used and another for jacuzzi never installed). Total cost $109. read more

What a rip-off! They charged over $400 to install a ceiling fan and an outlet. They were here for 2 hours (why it took even that long is another mystery since there were THREE guys here working) and 6 mins. but charged for full 3 hours. When I called them to inquire about the charges, they were flippant and uncooperative. Today was the third time I have had Kennedy Electric do work at my home. As always, excellent work, customer service and fair pricing. The first time was to replace the out of code breaker box on my home and add space for central air hookup. Excellent job! Second time was to trouble shoot outdoor lighting issue and give estimate on installing some additional outdoor lights for some dark areas of the yard. Again, excellent job and fair pricing on the estimate. Today was to find out what made an outlet spark and trip the circuit breaker when I plugged in an appliance. This happened on a Sunday and I called and left a message. Anna called me Monday morning and Mike was here by 1:15 Monday afternoon. Once again, excellent work and fair price. Excellent experience. Task: Remove and rewire 240VAC pool timer junction box and clean up some "dubious" 40 year old wiring associated with the old pool timer. Got great price on replacement 20 AMP breakers (already on the truck!). In and out in one hour after showing up exactly at promised time. Nothing negative (no pun intended). All positive, including Anna who took the phone order as well as Mike, the electrician, who could not have been nicer, neat and professional (and quick!). Cost: Total bill including material (20 AMP breaker) was less than other quotes just to show up. My bill represented exactly what Anna quoted for labor. Received one quote from another electrician who want $40 more than my bill just to show up. Who knows how much longer they would have taken and how much they would have charged for the breaker (and would they have had on truck?). Look no further. Go with Kennedy. I had Kennedy Electric come out to put in a new junction box in our kitchen ceiling. On my initial call with them, I was still weighing several different lighting options; they spent at least 15 minutes on the phone with me discussing the advantages and disadvantages of what I was considering. This was all free consulting, as I made it clear I would be installing the light fixtures myself. They were very informative and answered all my questions and then some, and I was extremely grateful for their advice. When they actually came out to do the work, the electrician arrived promptly (in the first ~20 minutes of the 2h window they had given me), was extremely pleasant, and completed the job so quickly/efficiently that the charge was actually less than the estimate. I had a whole lot of work that needed to be done on my new downtown condo. Previous owner had run cables of every description (except the one I need - Ethernet) through walls, through metal casings, under ceramic tile, and much more. Mike came out and cleaned up all of that, including burying a coax cable in the wall (Cox could only find 2 of 4 working coax cables after this schmuck was done playing around with his wires). He also added an outlet over the mantle behind the TV and a box for my Ethernet run. His work and attitude were just outstanding and professional to the max. When I asked him about a track bullet the owner promised to get working and didn't, Mike just pushed the bulb in tighter and didn't even give me as much as a smirk for not trying it myself.
