For the most part this is a pretty solid target store. They do have a limited stock of stuff and when I've place orders here things seem to be sold out. My frustration is that I've decided to come in several times and have found the same items they claimed were not in stock. I occasionally rather take the trip to drive down to the target in watsonville. It's much larger and has a larger selection. I have not used their drive up service there so I cannot comment on that read more

This is possibly the WORST Target I've ever shopped in. The staff are extremely rude and unhelpful, the store itself is so messy and disorganized that it's hardly shoppable. Horrible customer service. Drove here from San Jose to buy my son a game he wanted because it was the only one we can find that had it. Guy working said they had one in stock and told my husband to look for it in another spot then said "well then we don't have it." Then when charging out for our other items they messed up on my payment and I asked if my cartwheel discounts were applied and the guy said yes even though it wasn't. read more

This review is for the pharmacy located inside the Target store on 41st Ave. Capitola. The Pharmacist is wonderful, helpful, smart and kind. Her staff is the best, all have positive attitudes. They are obviously happy to be working for a knowledgeable, nice boss. If you currently have your prescriptions called to the CVS across 41st by McDonald's, do your self a favor and have them called to the CVS inside Target. read more

Target lost a sale because they are more concerned with profits than serving their customers. Let's say you need an item that is in a locked case and you wait twenty minutes for someone to come and unlock the case. Then they are new and don't know how and don't have the key. My husband and I are older people who I would say appear honest. Why would I wait that long to steal a twenty four dollar item when there are more expensive items (a great brand as well) right next to the case? Instead they take the item up to check stand for me to pick up when I finish my shopping. Well I go to check out and all the lines are a mile long, four being the longest. So I forget to purchase said item. Went across the street to CVS and bought it there. read more

I visited the new Capitola Target store on its first full day of operation (July 25) & let's just say maybe they should have waited until July 29, as the sign on the front of the store proclaims. I walked through every single aisle of the store, but it was 40 MINUTES before I was greeted or acknowledged by a staff member. This, even though several times I was standing within a couple feet of people who were greeted or asked if they needed assistance. The store is beautiful, clean & well-organized, FOR NOW. Given the poor state of staff training & involvement, I do not expect this to remain unless changes are made. NB: I did not visit the restrooms. Items are over-priced. Naturally, there are specials & competitive items. For example, Target will certainly give Safeway a run for its money in the grocery department. And basic back-to-school shoppers should be happy. But if you are looking for cosmetics, office supplies, housewares or anything else that brings you to a discount store, be prepared to pay extra for shopping local. And by local, I mean one block in either direction. As a person whose entire professional life has been spent in some form of HR, it really surprised me to see how unprepared Target was for this day. There were no cart wipes in any of the dispensers. All of the carts stuck together. Many of the displays were completely empty. I visited early in the morning, a time when seniors & parents w/ younger children might naturally be expected. Wouldn't it be a good idea to station someone near the front door ON YOUR FIRST DAY TO GREET PEOPLE & GIVE THEM A HAND? But when I came in, there was a mini-mtg near the front door. They were discussing customers, but didn't greet any or assist any! I helped 2 seniors get their carts, then got mine. It took several minutes. When I checked out, I saw something horrible. A woman was struggling to get guess what? A cart! Imagine that! She pulled & pulled, to no avail. Finally, she gave up. Of course, as soon as she quit, the cart came flying out & knocked her over! She fell down face first & her Starbucks drink went flying everywhere. Target staff members just stood there & looked at her. She finally went to a checkstand, TOLD someone she fell, & let them know about the spill. As if they didn't know, since they all had been staring at her, some of them laughing!! IMHO, these may be inexperienced employees who haven't received any/enough training. It may be that they are just nervous & worried about doing well & keeping their jobs. But w/o customers, THERE ARE NO JOBS. Management, you have a beautiful store. This is Capitola. People here are laid back, happy & friendly. Your staff should be too. They should be helpful and knowledgeable. People should enjoy their experience in your store, not just w/ the products & the atmosphere/ambiance, but the people. Get on the stick!!! read more

This store makes me sad. We were so excited about our brand-spanking new super Target store coming to town. We waited with eager anticipation as they worked and worked for months and months to get ready. Well, calling our first visit disappointing is an understatement. Our Target seems so much smaller than the Gottschalks that once occupied its space or the other Targets we've shopped. It's bright enough with many categories of items, but with precious little stock and miniscule selection-variety within them. We exited the store with our shoulders slumped, all excitement sucked from our souls. This store makes me sad. read more

I went in to get a cheap hula-hoop for my dog to do tricks with. There were only these 6 dollar ones, so I asked an associate, Christian, if there were any normal hoops. He said no, but actually the hoop I had picked up was in the wrong section, and was actually 8 dollars. When I pointed out that there was no 8 dollar hula hoop sign, he told me to tell the cashier that "Christian" had said to lower the price since the improper tag was there. I went to the cashier, Christina I think (lots of tattoos, fat chick with a totally sucky attitude). I told her Christian said to lower the price for improper tagging, and Christina said quote "Who the hell is Christian?!" I was so shocked I said um, the guy over there who is in the sporting goods section? She sighed at me as if I was troubling her and I told her I wanted it for less because of improper signage. She called over Christian who explained the exact same thing to her, and she blew in my face with a huff as she lowered the price. I'm sorry to bother you Christina, but you do work here, and jeez it's only 2 dollars, and it's for a freakin hula hoop. For that ridiculous interaction I would rather have just paid the additional 2 dollars. I know it's Target but jeez, a little customer service and polite-ness would be a good thing to teach employees. read more

This is more of a review for their online baby registry and online ordering opposed to store. I will say that the store does suck. There is very limited stock; it's always a mess; and it is expensive in my opinion. I registered for my baby shower on the Target site. Let's just say, skip it and register with Amazon. Thank goodness I was registered with Amazon too because multiple (10 or more) Target items "went out of stock" between the time I registered and the time of my shower (1.5 months). You constantly have to check the site to make sure your desired products are in stock otherwise your guests are out of luck and can't purchase you anything. Most items on my registry were very basic from receiving blankets to baby creams. Of course, hardly anything can be found in the store, so gift givers must get the items shipped and can't use the convenience of purchasing at the store. When doing personal online shopping, you will notice that most items "can't be shipped." Okay, they aren't sold in the store, and they can't be shipped; where are they then? I'm over this place on all fronts. Go somewhere else! read more

I'm not a regular Target customer, in fact I've only purchased from them a few times. I went last night to return two items. The process was not going well because Target seems to have company policy not as customer friendly as most stores I shop at. After talking with two Target representatives and trying to call their toll free number while waiting (offshore call center), I was asked to wait for a Supervisor. I spoke to the Supervisor, Davina-she appropriately informed me of the company policy but went the extra mile and worked with me to process my return. I hope Target reads this review and sees my 5 stars, which is only because of the patience and professionalism demonstrated by Davina, an excellent employee. I am extremely disappointed by the snobby and obviously over exaggerated reviews but it's Santa Cruz so I can't say i'm not surprised. It's a small store, yes, but it has most of the essentials of a regular target. All the employees I encountered both days going there were nice and friendly. The store is very clean and faced unlike some other targets I have been to. Will it satisfy my target needs till I make a trip over the hill? Yes, definitely. EDIT: This is for the cashier Kathleen (Who wears glasses). She is so flipping rude, and nasty. She was rude one day, then I went a couple days later with my dad and even HE noticed how rude she was. I'll make sure to avoid this person from now on. She'll ruin your whole day. I am a very loyal Target shopper, for many years I have been driving to San Jose just to go to Target. The Capitola Target is convenient, there is a lot of parking, it's easy to get to; Those are the positives. IF I ask for help, most of the employees are friendly. It's a different story once you hit the registers...Very rude, and could care less about you. I needed an essential product I regularly get (shampoo), and it was a good $4 more at the Capitola Target than at the one in San Jose! Now, my BIGGEST complaint is that Starbuck's in there. AWFUL! I've never had worse service in my life. They eff up my drinks, then forget to make my drink while I'm sitting there waiting. The first day of the opening (secret opening actually, before the REAL open date), I got a drink, was VERY specific, the girl actually WROTE OUT what I wanted on the cup (not just abbreviated), the guy making it screwed it up. I asked for COCONUT flakes, he gives me cookie crumbs?! Then I tell him it literally says "COCONUT FLAKES" on the cup, and he says "That's not what you asked for, but whatever." I haven't been that angry at a Starbuck's before. Yesterday, this girl asks me if I'm ready to order, I say "Yes..I will have..." to which she yawns in my face, and is looking elsewhere. So I give her the "I'm waiting" look, and she finally goes, "Oh sorry" and then leans her head against a wall while I'm making my order. I then go to sit down for 10 minutes, another employee sees me, and asks the girl "What's that lady waiting for?" So she forgot to even bother putting a cup out for my drink. Awful, awful Starbuck's. Stopped in here to grab some leggings and everything was disorganized. All the clothes were all over the place and it was impossible to find the right sizes. When I finally found my size, the dressing room attendant didn't even acknowledge my existence. I told her how I was going to try on 2 pants and expected to receive a number, but she just looked at me...so I just helped myself to a room. When I left, I thanked her and she didn't say anything. This Target has never been the best ever since they opened. After the initial few weeks it has never been very clean and is always extremely disorganized. No matter what time of day I shop, the aisles are crowded with shopping carts full of products to organize and shelve. My most recent visit was during "senior and vulnerable hour." Inventory was low because of the pandemic, but still carts of goods blocking aisles everywhere. The worst part was that only one worker that I saw had on a mask, even though it is company policy that all employees wear masks and gloves. When I called the manager he acknowledged that indeed it was company policy, but he couldn't make his employees "put on masks against their own free will." Went home and reported to corporate, and I'll never shop there again. read more

Yeah, 4 stars feels about right. Staff are friendly and prices are consistent with other stores but this target is smaller so the selection isn't as good as other stores. Still, for the convenience and location, I have to give them props... My only real complaint would be to parking garage and how it can fill up quick on holidays. I really enjoy shopping at Target. I've been waiting for one to open in Capitola for the 4 years I've lived here. I've read many reviews saying that the staff seemed rude or unhelpful, but to my knowledge, every time I've been shopping, at least 2 people have asked if they could help me find something. The employees are really nice, the store is always kept looking very professional and clean, and I love the grocery selection. I also got a redcard-which every cashier asks about at checkout. Most people don't realize you can get a debit card that ISN'T a credit card and it still saves you the 5% on what you buy and it's fabulous. From what I've seen, this target is a great place to work-they do many community service projects and employees have a great deal of fun working there. You go, Capitola Target! read more

I love shopping at Target, I'm a regular at a few stores. I go to school in Rohnert Park, and live in Santa Cruz; so I usually shop at the Santa Rosa Target, Rohnert Park, and now, the Capitola one. I had to give this Target a review for their act of kindness today. I bought my boyfriend his after shave balm in the Rohnert Park store yesterday. When I made it back home, I noticed the plastic cap was broken (we're traveling - and a broken cap is not ideal!) so today, I took it back to the Capitola Target to exchange it. When I got to the register, they could not find this product on my receipt or by using my Red Card... odd, because I bought it yesterday... I guess in Rohnert Park it didn't get scanned, just made it from the basket to bag. I offered to pay for it multiple times today because I would never want to intentionally cheat a business (no matter how big). The ladies upstairs would not let me pay for it because they said it was Target's mistake first, but gladly exchanged me for a non-broken cap one. I wish I had gotten the names of the two ladies that helped me, but every employee I have talked to has always been great help. Not sure what all the other grumbling is about from other reviews, but hello? You have to give kindness to get it, so maybe the other shoppers just didn't come off as being very friendly either? So thank you ladies, and Target, for being kind and really making it right for a loyal customer. If you're in the Santa Cruz area, it's certainly nice to have a Target nearby. This is one of the main anchors at the Capitola Mall and it is two levels, with mostly the groceries, household, office and health supplies on the lower level. Not too bad a place! read more

I was in today and purchased nursing creme which somehow didn't make it out my car. We checked the ground at cart many times before I went back in. The cashier who rang us up told me to grab another and she would approve the purchase. I went up stairs to grab it and they were all out. I found a sales associate and asked if there were any in the back she said no and said she had to check another place. They reviewed the security footage and said I put it in my cart therefore there was nothing they could do. The girl was very snippity. Now I'm out 13 dollars and was made feel like a thief I will never shop here again!! read more

Attention Target corporate: this store needs help with inventory management. Things usually aren't in stock when it says they are online. It frustrates your customers. I ordered something online today and got an email shortly after saying my order was ready for pickup. I got there and was told that I had cancelled the order on my end, which I had not. Riddle me this Target: why would I try to pick up an order I had cancelled? After asking the woman working the counter to look further into the matter, it turns out the item wasn't even in stock and they had cancelled my order without even attempting to notify me. There was no apology or any sort attempt to help me on the sales associates part and the manager was busy, so I walked out. Target, you've got some D-league customer service here to go with your poor inventory control. Also, things are consistently a mess. Stuff in carts blocking aisles and bare shelves doesn't make for a great shopping experience. Figure it out already! read more

Be sure and check your receipts. Despite Target being on the losing end of a class action suit regarding this very matter, I've been over charged several times. It's not the fault of the checker, but the software isn't picking up the sale price when scanned. read more
