Ate here at least 1/2 dozen times since my first review. Always had enjoyed the food. This recent time I learned of a new ownership. 1st thing I noticed the place is a lot cleaner, even though it wasn't bad before. The new owner, a pleasant lady, is very attentive and served w/ a smile. The food is just as fresh as previous and has more of a "home cooked" feel to it. Also the price is very reasonable and affordable, compared to today's prices of eating out. We ordered a birria (beef soup) and chimichanga. Both are large portion and delicious. I saw she made some flan but I was too full to eat more, so ordered it take out. Overall very please, and will certainly return many more times. Highly recommended! read more

We've been going here off and on for a few years. The last couple of meals have been excellent. They are updating their menu. We asked for enchiladas and even though they aren't currently on the menu, they made them for us. Worth a short drive from Eureka to Humboldt Hill. read more

Easter Sunday and I worked up an appetite working around the house. Wasn't expecting to find many options and I was right. Struck out twice. I turned on Humboldt Hill to turn around and remembered the taqueria right off the exit. Amazingly they were open. First thing I noticed is how clean the restaurant is. A brief look at the menu and I decided on the Super Steak Ranchero burrito. While I waited, I was generously offered some chips and salsa from who I assume is the owner. Very nice person. Got my burrito and went home. The burrito came with chips and 3 small containers (2 different salsas and one with pickled carrots and onion). The burrito was as tasty as it was fresh and I loved the heat from the red salsa. Will definitely go back. read more

Highly recommend, very very freshly made, the tinga meat and al pastor are absolutely delicious and so, so fresh with so much flavor. They do not cut corners here. I've tried a few things and can't stop recommending the Al Pastor basic burrito to everyone. The owners are so nice and are working every day they are open. I really hope everyone gives this new restaurant a try with the new owners and recipes. If you tried this location prior to February 2025 and weren't satisfied- try it again! I've eaten a dozen different Carne Asada fries and by far they have the worst. Tacos were bland and just contained meat and shell.

Small portions- so so flavor, thimble-sized salsa juice, a few chips...Expensive! Won't go twice!

Oooh-kay. So yesterday as I was headed up Humboldt Hill I took a peek in the restaurant and was overjoyed to see that everybody - save for two seated diners - was wearing masks. Sweet, I can finally try some of their food! Last night my partner and I decided to have dinner there. I ordered a mulita al pastor (choice of protein, whole beans, cheese, onions, cilantro and salsa grilled in between two larger corn tortillas). It was delicious, the pork al pastor was tasty and juicy. My partner had the super burrito al pastor, and it seemed a bit heavy on the rice and beans, which were refried. Not her favorite but she wasn't given the choice of having it with whole beans. On the whole, not disappointed but not knock our socks off impressed either. Today we thought that to get a true read on the quality, we should get some tacos. And we did, six al pastor. They came super quick and were served with a bit of grilled onions and the obligatory piece of piña. This time, I have to say that while it isn't quite as perfect as what you'd get at places like 'Ta Contento in Mexico City, for a taco spot on Humboldt Hill, they definitely have my business! Multiple times, the man would bring me something I did not order. We used to like eating here, it's still one of my daughter's favorite places. I began liking it less and less each time he would serve me extra items I did not order. I began noticing that it wasn't as reasonably priced as it used to be when we first patronized and I was driving my old 2006 Kia. Then, more recently, after he began offering receipts and I accepted the last few times, I noticed his prices were not consistent. It seems as if he would charge what he felt like charging, depending on the day or his mood! Of course, it would've been good foresight to save my receipts to post to this review. Some days he would charge for chips and salsa, other days he wouldn't- I realized after briefly scanning the receipt a few times. It was a little suspicious he commented on my new car. Maybe he thought I could afford the extra??? I know the pandemic dealt a rough blow to the food service industry, but c'mon! Be consistent and fair! read more

While visiting our friends on Humboldt Hill, we passed a bright and colorful restaurant that really drew our attention. One side of the building presents a beautifully painted mural. We decided to pop in on a Saturday evening to check it out. The restaurant itself was small and quiet. We were the only people in the restaurant, and only one patron entered to pick up a to-go order during our time there. Our gentleman server greeted us with chips, salsa, and small ramekins of some kind of noodle soup to start. The walls were covered in large colorful photos of their various dishes, which I find incredibly helpful when trying to decide what to order. Our friends got burritos, I got the Huarache with carne asada, and my husband got a torta. The food came out quick and was absolutely delicious. A cold case held a variety of drink options. My husband had a Mexican Coke and I had a Gatorade light. There was also some pre-made desserts you could grab and go, so we nabbed a rice pudding, which was also good. There was too many delicious items to choose from on the menu, so I definitely plan on returning! read more

We spoke about the Al Pastor and how thrilled I was to see it on the menu and authentically prepared. Didn't taste a bit of it in my burrito. Asked about whole black beans -he said no but we have a mix of black & pinto, cool for me. Not what I got, at all. Soooo I ordered a whole bean Al pastor super burrito with jalapeños and what I got was a LOADED vegetarian with HUGE plops of refried beans and rice with smidge of meat pebbles. Its a refreshing change to have something authentic and cooked with love. Being from a large hispanic population in southern california i know you cant get much authentic mexican cooking around here, this place has everything you could want and more.
