By far gross Mexican food, how can you even call this authentic? Pastor is dry and has no flavor, carnitas was mostly fat, horchata tasted like water and the asada was the only thing barley edible. Love the nachos but there have been several time I have tried to call in an order and the phone just rings and rings. I've called 12 times today and there's no answer. I always have to drive there to place an order and it doesn't seem to be too busy to justify not answering the phone. Could be due to the lack of staff but hopefully they get it figured out because it's annoying and makes me not want to continue to go there. read more

I came here with Christine G. after visiting the shooting range. We decided to split a burrito, as we were both not TOO hungry. me: "What should we get?" her: "Burrito?" me: "I was just thinking that too!" her: "Can we get no beans?" me: "YESSSSS!" It's so rare to have a perfect burrito companion like her! Anyways, the girl at the register was really friendly. She let us know that her favorite was carne asada, so carne asada we had! We proceeded to sit outside in front of the restaurant. What a perfect afternoon, people watching and eating lunch in a cute downtown area. Chips light and crunchy..they have several types of salsas -excellent Pico de Gallo, and I also tried their dark red salsa..which was good. I had a horrible experience tonight. I called in an order at 7:00. The women says 10 min it will be ready. At 7:15 I get to the restaurant and pay and they say a few minutes still. At 7:30 I get my food and drive home only to find 2 burritos we're missing so I had to drive back and pick them up. It's now 8:00 and I can eat my dinner- except that the burrito I ordered is all wrong and I am too upset too eat. Very disappointed. While I was waiting for my food someone else came with a taco salad with sour cream and cheese that was on a vegan order. Also while I was waiting the lady at the register would pull out her large iPhone and hold it to eye level and text..... this is the Central Valley- I'll find another mexican restaraunt to spend $40 on 3 items next time. read more

Probably the cleanest taqueria I have been to in a while. The tables were cleaned immediately as people left and I saw someone frantically whipping down windows and salsa counter. The food was mediocre nothing I can really say was worthy of mentioning. Although if you do get something wrapped in aluminum foil be aware they wrap first cut later so watch out for aluminum shreads. Ambiance is nicely done and the service is good. Whenever I am in the mood for tacos, I go to Taqueria Ripon. They make the best carnitas tacos in Ripon and have a great sauce bar. The food: Like I said, definitely try the carnitas tacos. Also, know that these are not mini tacos that will fit in the palm of your hand. I think my friend once made that mistake and got three huge tacos and was very shocked. You'll probably only want 3 tops. The drinks: The jarritos sodas are plentiful here. Their horchata isn't my favorite from Ripon, though. The atmosphere: This restaurant can get really busy during the school year at lunch time when Ripon High School students are allowed to roam freely. Around dinner time, though, it is not usually as packed. If you're in Ripon and looking for tacos and good salsa, come here! read more

We were recently in Ripon doing some shopping and decided to pop into this taqueria. The place was completely empty, but the service was excellent. The enchiladas verde and chile rellanos were both good, however the standout point was how clean and well decorated the restaurant was. We will definitely be back if in the area. read more

I took my friend for a belated Birthday lunch. It was about 12:00 on a Saturday. A lady at front took us right in and sat us in a comfortable booth. Catherine had lots of questions and I had a few. They brought warm refried beans and hot salsa with chips. They no longer have Menudo, but said it's Available Manteca. We had gentlemen taking our orders and answering our questions. We also had a man bring us our food. My friend had a beer, but they didn't have the beer she asked for. I had water. But she was pleased with the on tap beer she had. We had the 6 garlic shrimp as an appetizer and it was cooked just right with 2 slices of avocado and tomato on top of shredded lettuce. I had "G", which was chicken,bell peppers, and onions.with choice of flour or corn tortillas. With Mexican rice and beans. No complaints at this place and the food is fresh. Amazing! We've been twice since moving into Ripon and I can't wait to go again. Everything tasted and screams authentic! Rice and beans are close to what my mom's taste like. Taquiria Ripon is probably one of my favorite places to get Mexican food around. My family's order is usually 2 bean rice and cheese burritos, one super nachos with shredded chicken, and 2 fish tacos with a shrimp super burrito. I think that usually pans out to be about 30 dollars. I love that you can call your food in and pick it up in the amount of wait time. My only suggestion is that at the sauce bar, the lids to the sauces should be there for us to take. I feel as though it is awkward that anyone has to ask for a cetain amount of sauce lids every time we go. Overall i love taqueria ripon and i probably go there monthly read more

For this price just go somewhere else. My husband and I ordered our family dinner and everyone food except my mother in law burrito(she was missing her sour cream) was no good. The asada tacos wasn't flavorful,just to have cheese, cilantro and verde salsa. My husband and I burrito had a whole can of beans, zero sour cream. Highly disappointed. read more

Best Mexican food I've had in a longgggg time! So many salsas and extras in the cooler to choose from, super fresh food, AND it was reasonably priced!! That's rare! I had the shrimp super burrito and it was delicious, my son had a simple quesadilla and it was crispy and gooey with really good cheese, and my husband had a taco combo and enjoyed his as well. Found this place on Google Maps as a recommendation. Our family of 5 were hungry and needed something tasty and fast. This place did not disappoint. Fast service and delicious food. Great spot off the freeway. Carnitas was crispy and not too salty. Tamales were nice and tender. Sopes was huge and fresh. Torts was well made and a good size. Salsa bar was such a great treat. My coworkers and I call this the place "The Giant Rooster", simply because there are huge metal roosters on the wall inside. Now for my review...This place is awesome!! We typically eat here once a week for lunch and could probably eat here 3-4 times a week and not get sick of it. I have had the burrito with just about every type of meat (no lengua or cabeza though) and the nachos too. I LOVE the nachos. They are huge and fabulous tasting. The only probem is that I feel guilty eating chips and salsa when I order nachos, but the chips and salsa are so good I eat them anyway. There salsa bar has 3 types of salsa, a guacamole, and some sort of slaw. All are great. Okay, here is a secret for nacho lovers. I have never finished the full size nachos. It is really a TON of food. You have to trust me on this one. Order the half nachos. They are exactly the same, but come on a smaller plate. They are not really on the menu. The secret is that you are actually ordering the childrens nachos. If you can get over your ego, you'll find that you get plenty of food for like $4. read more

Stop here for a quick lunch and why was I surprised. It was amazing. I had a carnitas plate which came with rice, beans, and lettuce with sour cream and guacamole. After a lovely fun time at Barnwood Arms, my friend and I wanted some grub, so we asked the folks at the range what was the best place to eat. Someone said that the Mexican place two doors down was the bomb, so we took his word and headed down the street. The burrito we shared was the perfect size. It was full of meat, rice, and cheese, and the salsa from the salsa bar was super tasty with the chips and on the burrito. They have a ton of choices, but we decided to stick with the good ol' burrito. And the outdoor seating was perfect for the sunny afternoon. Next time I'm passing by Ripon, I'll definitely stop by and try out more of their menu! read more

Typical taqueria food. I love the lime-aid juice. Very tart and sweet. I ordered the tilapia fish tacos. I thought it would be pan fried, but actually it was breaded and fried. Didn't really like it. It was fishy. My husband ordered the quesadilla with ham. It was ginormous. I shared a slice of his and left my tacos on the plate. He comes here on a weekly basis since he works close by. First time here...totally not what I expected. Everything we ordered tasted fabulous and it was fresh. We started with the super nachos (carne asada), they were cheesy and the meat was chopped perfectly and was not over cooked (hard/crispy). Then we got a shredded chicken quesadilla. The shredded chicken was very, very flavorful and quite large. The next plate was a crispy taco (shredded chicken), although I liked it, next time I would like it a tad bit softer on the crunch. I also got a Chile relleno...omg super cheesy! It was lightly battered and the sauce tasted great. The last item was a carnitas plate... the pork was tender and flavorful. It also wasn't overly crispy at the edges. Overall, it was a great meal experience and will definitely be coming back! read more

Their slogan is experience the difference...... lowest prices, highest quality in food &service. I think they have it backwards, highest prices, lowest quality explains it more accurately. For a super burrito, a super quesadilla, and a horchata I spent $17.28. A popular taqueria near my house would have been just under $16 for the same. The burrito was a very greasy, as was the quesadilla. The meat was fattier than I would have liked, and the horchata had Waaaay too much cinnamon. I nearly choked it was so strong. Had a quick bite here with 6 people in our group. Did not encounter any issues with service, course it helps that I can speak Spanish for dish/ingredient clarification and I'm not impatient. Restaurant is very nice with some of the coolest decor I've seen anywhere, including Mexico. Clean open kitchen, love to see how they cook and clean their work space. Restrooms are clean but need a little fixing up, no biggie. La Comida: 1. Tacos de Lengua: Tasty and tender, just the way they should be. 2. Carnitas: As they did not have Cabeza(Big Bummer), carnitas worked and were tasty as well. 3. Frijoles: As an app with chips, their's are damn near correct. Lard is a must for good refried beans. No Lard, no joy. 4. Chimichanga: Two people ordered this monster of a burrito and were both quite happy with themselves. 5. Coctel de Camaron: My Dad's hopelessly addicted to Campechana (A mixed seafood cocktail/soup) and while their Coctel is NOT Campechana, it is still a solid Shrimp Cocktail. 6. Tostada de Camaron: Wanted to try it just to see, not too shabby. Tostadas are not my thing but I am glad I ordered it nonetheless. 7. Kids had Burritos: They were happy with them and the burritos certainly looked nice. SALSA BAR: I really enjoy salsa bars and when I see one I pay close attention to the offerings. I especially look for cut and freshness of ingredients as these items have to be prepped ahead of time. Their citrus looked fresh and clean as well as their herbs, onions, and salsas. The one thing I always look for are the Jalapenos. While there are a couple of styles to choose from, I really liked the fire roasted penos. I have had these in several eateries but TR adds beef bullion to the bowl which makes for some damn tasty eating. Some of the best I have EVER had. Would not hesitate to go to this place. My only complaints: No Bohemia Beer, my favorite Mexican beer all time hands down... No Campechana: Expensive, but worth every peso when done correctly No Cabeza: Did not find out if they offer it period, or were just out at the time. I've been going to this taqueria on and off for many years and this last time I finally felt like they did me wrong. I ordered the super nachos with half asada and half chorizo, and was told there was an upcharge for the substitution. That was new to me, but I know some places do it so whatever. I decided I'd just have a water, which was listed at $1.50 instead of the soda for $3. Less about the money, more about not wanting soda. For $1.50 I figured it would be some brand of bottled water. Likely kirlkland. A sizeable markup, sure, but common and that's fine. What did I get? A plastic cup. For $1.50, I was given a clear plastic cup to use for the water dispenser on the lemonade at the soda machine. My bill for nachos and a cup of literal tap water was over $13. I think thats the last time. The nachos were fine, chorizo a little soft, but overall the food was good, I just can't abide a $1.50 tap water. Everything is costing more lately, so I'm okay with the food going up, but $13+ for nachos and self serve tap water is pushing it. Oh and don't forget the tip option when you pay read more
