One of our family favorite spots! I've never had anything there I didn't like. Great service and food!

I learned something today apparently when you order 12oz of chicken you only get 5.25. I called and they informed me that they weigh the chicken when it is raw and then as it cooks it loses weight. But 50% of its weight? The container was half full. When I have ordered this same item in the past the container is usually full. I don't know what is going on with their kitchen lately but the quality and serving sizes have significantly reduced. I would appreciate transparently with the price. If you're only going to give me 5.25 oz then say it's that not 12oz. read more

This is a great Mexican grocery and meat market. The store is literally packed with everything you would want if you're craving good Mexican food. The front and middle of the store boasts all of the grocery items, including piñatas hanging from the ceiling for purchase. The rear of the store is their fresh meat market and behind the register are hot plate items you can order and take to go. The staff are always very nice and helpful. My experience here is specific to ordering hot food items. I highly recommend their chicken, which has to be some of the best tasting I have had from a business. The business is reasonably priced. I can order 32 ounces of chicken, 16 ounces of rice and beans for about $38. All of that is plenty to feed four people. WOW FACTOR? Yes. Nice Mexican grocery, meat market and take-out restaurant. Excellent and friendly service. HAVE AGAIN: The al pastor taco was really good. Guacamole was a bit spicy but actually just right (odd it had two avocado pits inside the guac. Super burrito with carnitas was also good (definitely needed the guac). Very disappointed. Have not been here in a few years until now. The price to food quality and quantity does not work. Ordered one regular burrito and four tacos. The burrito was definitely on the small side and the tacos were like children size tortillas for over $28.00. Asada was very salty and the chicken was seasoned fine. read more

We just had a huge carnitas super burrito. It was outrageously excellent. As always, perfect. It's big enough to share. We order medium heat. Terrific. We also had 6 grilled chicken tacos which we will eat later for dinner. We order medium heat. Delicious. Our grandchildren love Theresa's Mexican rice. It's their favorite. Theresa is typically at the counter when we pick up. She's a wonderful person. In the 10 plus years we've been eating food from La Mexicana de Ripon, it's always been great. I love this little market!! Family owned and ran . And the family that runs it are super nice!! Business is very clean and well stocked!! I love to buy my meats here for my BBQ. I picked up last night some asada and chicken for tacos. I love how they marinate their asada. It's like this place in the bay I used to get my asada from. With beer & orange juice . Love!! They have a hot food counter where you can order food. I bought a tamale to try and they gave me 2. Very nice of the lady. It was a pork and chicken tamale. Was good . I love this place. It's just so reliable and fairly priced. You can tell it's run with love. Everyone who works there is helpful and patient. I've gone in and it's been so busy, but they are still so pleasant and helpful. Whatever I have ordered (and we've ordered everything from the potato tacos to combo plates to burritos) has been great. It all tastes homemade. It is our go to when work goes overtime and I still gotta get the family dinner. We've also had them cater for us and everything came out seamlessly and delicious. Authentic taqueria. My family and I have had several items off the menu and we have loved them all. The food taste great and the salsa bar is always fresh. I can't speak for the rice (not a fan of most rice) but everything else has a full flavor. The portions are big. You won't leave hungry. it has gotten a little pricy, but everything has. I did a tour of the super burritos on Main Street in Ripon this week while visiting from Texas. 5/17/22 Taqueria Ripon was $14 and was the smallest of the 4 I tried. The taste was fine but nothing impressive. I'd give it a pass. NOT RECOMMEND ** 5/18/22 La Casuela Mexican Restaurant was $12.50. It was huge and tasted great. The cheese wasn't fully melted. So, I liked it better once I warmed it up but the flavor and size were great for the price. It had more Avacodo than what I normally see in a super burrito but mostly delivered the expected super burrito experience. RECOMMENDED but may need warming. Also try La Mexicana De Ripon to see which flavor you prefer (see below). **** 5/19/22 LA Mexicana De Ripon This burrito was a bit smaller than the normal super burrito but was cheaper at $8.50 and had a fantastic flavor. I followed the Yelp reviews and glad I did. This market is impeccable with neatly stacked shelves full of interesting good products from tortilla chips to canned goods The meat counter was stocked with plenty to choose from. The shortbread cookies really are delicious as the reviews said. The food is so good and fresh and reasonably priced I will be going back. Give this place a try you won't regret it. Today was my first visit to the market. I was impressed with the items that they have their shelves stocked with. I had already had dinner but thought maybe I could buy something for tomorrow. I noticed their menu had tamales. They didn't have pork so I ordered 6 chicken & 6 beef. I should have just ordered one of each and I wouldn't have felt bad about not consuming the other 4. I don't know how long the tamales had been sitting in the chaffing dish but they were not moist, flavourful, or steaming with aroma. Maybe it was late in the day? Maybe I should arrive in the morning when their fresh out of the pot? I would recommend having the tamales wrapped in plastic to keep them from drying out. I'll try again read more

Hidden in the corner of La Mexicana de Ripon is a little taco-making gem!!!! I came here for a small snack to tie myself over 'til dinner. And what's the perfect snack? Well tacos of course!! It was a quick in and out. I got two beef tacos which came to shocking $4.50!!!! I don't know where else you can get two tacos and pay such a low price. It's honestly a steal! AND they were so good! Great flavours, great spice level and the beef was actually tender (not chewy like some places)! Outside there were two round stainless steel tables to eat at. This was very convenient as it was a beautiful night. I enjoyed my tacos there and was back on the road within 15 minutes. This is a place you have to experience for yourself. There was no one in the kitchen the people at the front didn't ask if there was something they could help me with and it took for me to have to find them for them to take my order.
