I've been to the Tacos El Gordo truck a half a dozen times or more. It's close to work, and I've enjoyed everything I've had. They have all the popular Mexican street foods. I'm really hooked on the tacos El Pastor. At first I was only getting three tacos at a time and it was filling... But recently I bumped up my game to four! It hits the spot, and it's totally legit amazing. Savory with a hint of caramelization and there's the signature smoky sauteed onions they put on the side. Total fire! And the price i$ right. Today I went with the El Pastor burrito again and this time asked for light rice to cut down on the carbs and as always they nailed it again. Total fire! My co-workers got my hooked on this place when they got me some Asada Fries and they were also totally epic. I was in a food coma the rest of the day - LOL, but what a way to go... Amazing! The people at Tacos El Gordo are friendly and you get your food fast. They take debit cards too, and don't charge extra for using them. Another plus is they use little buzzer-pagers like restaurants so you can hang in your car if the weather isn't ideal. To be honest, I must go at the right times because I never have to wait long at all to get my food. Maybe, it's just my charm, and good looks. But seriously if you find yourself on 9th street, downtown Modesto by the Double Tree hotel, and you're hungry, or even if you're not that hungry. Head North next to Ralphs Transmission shop, and stop by Tacos El Gordo's green and red truck and have some authentic street food, that's legit fire! read more

I tried them when I was in the area. The flavor is not as good as my favorite taco truck in Riverbank, but not bad either. The burrito got the job done when I was nearby and hungry read more

Here's the thing. I don't eat out very often. So I'm not a massive connoisseur. But I was trying tacos and asada fries elsewhere when they were on their traditional Christmas break, and NOTHING. CAME. CLOSE. NOTHING. I just didn't know how good I had it! The meat is flavorful, the asada fries are nice and crispy, the Pastor is properly seared a bit to caramelize the sugars and crisp up the pork, the tacos are juicy and flavorful, the price is right...dude, this place is amazing. This week, no one knows where Gordos is, and they are DESPERATELY missed. Nothing can hold a candle to your food. A co-worker and I went somewhere else today because Gordos is still gone, and this new place is rated 4.4/5 on the Goog. Solid meh. We need to protect Gordos at all costs...they are precious to the downtown! read more

I've had the tacos very good and the flautas everything was made fresh , my fave spot so far for tacos.

Everything I've had from here is great. Nachos, burrito, tacos. Fast and friendly and I usually don't give 5 stars but they're very consistent read more

When you go to food truck row at lunch time and only one of the 8 trucks has a long line of people, you know which truck to try! I stopped here for a quick snack in between appointments Friday... A tostada for $3? Yes, please. But everything looked so yummy I had to try more. We also got sopes, two tacos and a hot dog and it was all less than $15! The sopes was so cheesy and delicious and the tostada is an amazing value! The food was all yummy ...it took longer than expected but they had a lot of customers, so I totally understood. Cash only, and I usually don't carry much, but I will be back when I am in the area for sure! read more

I moved to the valley recently I've tried many tacos here in the area some good some not so good. These are the best tacos up and down the 99 and I come from Sacramento California where it's hard to find a good taco nowadays on Franklin Boulevard. I came to this establishment three days in a row from the moment I found it. I usually like to leave a long review of the quality of the food and it's qualities however when I come across such a place like this, I find it unnecessary. It's just that Good. read more

Place is just ok, I got 3 regular tacos and one birria taco and it was all lacking flavor. Not a truck I would go to again.

One of my coworkers found a piece of glass in they're burrito. They need to pay better attention to when prepping their food for the customers. read more

Incredible service. And amazing food. Fast in getting orders out. The grilled onions are amazing. Truly a great spot.

Food is really good here. Tacos are so delicious- make sure to order in Alahmbre style tacos- pork and chicken are both good. Location is okay... but the food is so good you want to go back. read more

This is the BEST taco truck in Modesto. I've ordered everything from a simple carne asada taco to buche, lengua, tripas, birria to ceviche tostadas and even a healthy bowl. Let me tell y'all, I've NEVER been disappointed. Not in taste, flavor, presentation nor value. They're located a short drive from my office so I'm here often. My only complaint is that they're not open past 6pm other than that, give these guys a try asap. read more

Customer service is great, food is made fast and accurately however the quality has declined. The meat is not as tender and clean as it used to be. The prices are a bit high for a taco truck. Overall good but definitely not the best. read more
