I'm a fan of this location. But - this place can get real crowded when you come at the wrong time. Parking - There are several parking lots. You can even park near Wholefoods and walk on over. Taking a few extra steps won't kill ya! Space - I'd say Medium to Big. When there are tons of people around, you may have to wait a little but if it's not a massive crowd, you'll be able to find a table fairly quickly. There's indoor/outdoor seating + bar area. Pretty cool. Only real bad part: 1 register. I mean... there's always a line. It sucks. Service - Food comes out fast. I honesty would come here if you're in a pinch & no line & you can eat quickly Food: Salsa Trio: Worth getting! You get 3 different types of salsa & massive amount of chips. Chip & salsa are both solid here & great for an appetizer among 3-4 people. Tacos: My favorites are Fried Chicken, Beef, Carnita Tacos. The beef taco is a special and comes in a hard corn taco. I liked it. Probably like it better if was a normal soft taco. The Fried Chicken & Carnita are above average. Not the best, but gets the job done. They are normal size tacos. This place is DA BOMB. Seriously, my boyfriend and I have tried to eat at this place a failed miserably because we always forget about the siesta time but we finally made it this week. Let me tell you, we loved everything!!! First things first, you are definitely going to have to wait. If you don't have patience, don't come here lol the wait isn't bad because this restaurant has the flow down to a science. We made it through the line, we're seated, and had our food within 20 minutes. We started with the salsa trio and ALL THREE are bursting with flavor. My friend has been talking about this new location for a while so while I was back in town, we ventured over and must have hit it at the right time. No line with quick, friendly service. At his recommendation, I had the chicken taco and a small cup of shrimp corn chowder. Also tried the brisket taco because, well, brisket!! Everything was warm and delicious. Be sure to arrive early because there will be a line. The parking is difficult because of the construction going on in the area, but it's worth braving to get Taqueria Del Sol. I met up with some friends here for a going away party last Friday, and we had a great time. We stood in line for about 20 minutes, but once you order, the food comes out pretty quickly. I ordered a margarita with two tacos: Memphis and Fish. Both of the tacos were excellent. The Memphis taco had more of a kick than I was expecting. The margarita was good too! Not a huge selection of tacos, in particular since I was comparing it to Verde Taqueria, which is a few miles away. I think I got the brisket both times, along with something else. It was fine. I wasn't blown away, by any means. The service, meh. They invite you to fill your own sweet tea. It doesn't take too long to get your stuff, but they don't bring it out to you. It's about $1 less per taco than my preferred fusion taqueria, so that's something - but it alternates between overcrowded and empty. If you see that it's empty, and you'd rather go here than Chipotle, or than driving anywhere else, it's fine. They have a sign that essentially says: You must order before sitting down at a table. I get it. The rule helps ensure those taking up seats are customers. What I can't understand is their militant enforcement of the rule. They don't care if you are elderly, injured, or a mother with 4 young children. This weekend, we were waiting in the long line and our 4 year old was crying and making a scene. We had already ordered $60 worth of margaritas while we were waiting. There were many open tables, so my wife took the kids to a table on the patio, out of the way, while continued waiting in line. The manager proceeded to come up to me and say "I'm sorry you have kids, but you can't sit down until you order. You are taking seats from other customers and it's not fair." There were many open tables, so I asked if he could overlook this rule for the sake of my tired wife and children. We had already ordered drinks, and were about to order food as well. When we got to the register to place the order, the manager came up and said, "I'm sorry, we will not serve you tonight. You didn't follow the rule so we won't serve you." I was flabbergasted. We had waited 45 minutes in line. There were many open tables, so my tired wife and children were not keeping anyone else from a table. I have never been treated so poorly, anywhere. I am in the restaurant business. The utter lack of empathy and care will ensure that I will never eat there again. Their mediocre food is just not worth it. Came through Taqueria Del Sol with a few coworkers for dinner. I was sure to ask them, "Is this a legit Mexican place or is this an American Mexican place?" It helps to know what you're getting into before you actually start judging it. Given what it is, it's pretty good. They have both traditional and non-traditional taco meats with some flair to the flavor. I ordered four tacos: carnitas, fish, Memphis (smoked pork), and brisket. He said, "No, we are closed." We had just left our table there were others in the Restaurant. We were not asking for anything that needed to be prepared. Great food, but absolutely awful customer service. I'm not sure if I would even call it customer service- it is more like complete hostility the second you walk in the door. Unfortunately, this is the second time I've personally had a terrible experience with the staff (my mom has had several- and refuses to come back to this location) here which is why I felt compelled to actually right a review this time. I'm giving it two stars bc the food is good but I really want to give it 1 star because of the rude staff. 1st terrible experience- I ordered to go food worth about $100 for my family of 6, drove from Norcross to pick it up, was rudely confronted upon arrival saying I needed to wait outside and not check to see if my order was ready at the bar (weird but forgivable) only to find out it was ready... so I pick it up after 10 mins of pointlessly waiting, tip 20% even though the guy was rude, drove all the way home to find out they gave me about 4000 chips and zero tacos. I was pretty upset given the fact the greeter was hostile from the get go. I drove all the way back only to be told that I should have verified that everything was in my order and that it was my responsibility to do so. What? The guy who handed me my food read off my entire order on the bag that was stapled shut- I was assuming he had verified it? Also the assumption is they wouldn't forget all 12 tacos and only give us guac chips and queso ha. Second experience- I walked up to pick up my order with my dog I just picked up from daycare down the road. I was happy to hand someone my card and wait outside (I figured that would be fine seeing there is no Indoor dining right now and there's a "greeter" standing in the doorway) ... oh no! They acted like it was the most inconvenient and draining task I could have ever asked of them.... what? Lots of grunting and side comments about my dog. Two people waiting for their food offered to help me- way kinder than anyone who worked there. I think it was pretty obvious they were purposefully making it difficult for me... but for what? I worked in the service industry for 10 years- I get that people can be difficult and staff can be overwhelmed but this is NOT what this is. This is purposefully rude behavior. Life is not that hard guys, and with numerous poor reviews regarding management and the wait staffs inability to be nice... doubt you'll make it post pandemic! Big changes need to be made! If just here to get the food review... it's very good! The chicken enchilada in lemon cream sauce, is really yummy as is the beef enchilada w chili. It's all the other "stuff" that is weird. 1) rude staff as others have noted. 2) you have to spray down your own tables. Usually when I dine out, my table is clean when I'm seated. Not here. If you want a clean table, they leave spray and paper towels out fir you. 3) no clear explanation of how to secure a table. Tip- it's a different line than the food line. 4) expect to wait 35-45 minutes for your food. 5) you don't get your chips/salsa ($4) first. If you order them they come out with all the food. Being new to the process we didn't know you had to wait in line and then get a seat. I had my service dog with me and proceeded to sit outside, away from everyone. Chris the "manager" came up to me and rudely said there is a line and I can sit after I order. Ok, sorry I didn't know and my fiancé was in line for me. Next, he told me dog were not allowed on their patio. I asked, " Do you not allow service dogs?" Chris said he needed paper work and documents and asked where his vest was. I told Chris that these items are not required per the ADA. However, my dog was in a down stay in the forever with a "DO NOT PET" badge on. Chris did not understand and walked away. Let's start with the positive.. I found an awesome dive taqueria because of this place and it was not Taqueria Del Sol. Take some advice and go to one of the other Mexican places around this area. I walked up to the bar to order some Margaritas and tacos. I had two other coworkers with me at the time. At the bar we're four open seats with a guy sitting in the middle. I approached the gentleman at the bar and politely asked him if he would mind scooting one seat over in either direction so my two friends could sit down as well. He looked at me and before he could say anything to me the bartender girl says to me in the absolute rudest tone possible. "We don't ask people to move here." I said ok thanks and my party left the establishment. As we are walking out getting in our car to go somewhere else the guy from the bar left the restaurant as well. My friends and I were flabbergasted at the situation. Not only was the bartender a phenomenal b*tch about the situation both to us and the poor guy at the bar but she knew damn well that he was about to get up and leave at any moment. She could have told us in a much nicer tone or even said hey it is up the patron to decide. Needless to say she lost three customers (and probably 4) for life. It really makes me sad to do this, but I was very disappointed tonight when we received a piece of glass in our chips. We were munching away and were shocked to come across it. I have been eating at TDS for years and since this location opened I have been coming 1-2 times weekly. When we walked in tonight, my friend and I were talking about why we loved TDS, and it's because it is always consistent. The quality is always on point. Well not tonight. When we asked to talk to the manager he gave us $5 and apologized and told us a story about how this happened to him one time at Taco Bell and this was a one in a million chance. Personally, I used to hold this place to a much higher standard than your average Taco Bell but apparently the manager felt compelled to draw that comparison. I always order their queso and guacamole because the cheese is mild and smooth, and the guac is fresh and zesty! I also always order one of the tacos, you really can't go wrong with any of the taco choices. Another one of my favorite items of Tacqueria Del Sol is their shrimp corn chowder, which is another item to enjoy your chips with since their chips are always crunchy and fresh! SERVICE: 5+ The reason for this location being my favorite one is due to the staff's efficiency. I came on a Thursday night during dinner rush hour, and yes, we had to wait in line to order, but no, we did not have to wait for our food! I want to say our food came in less than 2 minutes of sitting down?! It was too pleasant not to acknowledge, because I feel that getting customers their orders in time one of the biggest struggles of restaurants in big cities such as Atlanta! Love that there's a TDS near my work. There's always a line during the lunch rush but the staff here is super efficient so you won't have to wait long. This location is in the Whole Foods shopping center off of Peachtree Blvd. I'm always pleased with every visit here and again, huge shout out to the friendly, courteous and helpful staff here. Huge fan of their tacos and during my last visit, I discovered their shrimp and corn chowder. It's my new favorite soup and will definitely return and continue to order that because it's creamy, perfect amount of corn and shrimp and just flat out delicious! I adore TDS. I'm a regular at Cheshire Bridge for lunch; have been for years. Because I'm a TDS aficionado, I know "the rules" very well. Most rules aren't posted; when they are, they're super small and easy to miss. So, permit me to set your expectations for having amazing cheese dip, tacos, and enchiladas (and let's not forget one of the best margaritas ever) at the Chamblee TDS: -- yes, you wait in line and order at the counter. The line can move kinda slow but once you order, you receive your food super fast. Do everyone behind you in line a favor and look at the menu so you can order quickly at the counter. -- nope, you can't sit at a table until you order. It's part of how they get the food out so very fast; it's easy to spot exactly who needs chips and dip if only a couple tables have nothing in front of them. There are benches inside and out to wait if you've gotta sit. Just be warned you will be told you can't save a table. Don't panic -if you're in a large group, you can alert the staff and they will happily pull together a table for you. Do NOT do it yourself. Ask for help. -- nope, no high chairs here. It's not that Taqueria doesn't love kiddos (check out the most amazing changing table in their bathroom!); they just don't have high chairs or booster seats. I've been warmly welcomed with my baby in her car seat+stroller, my baby in her own strap-on high chair, and my baby making an enormous mess sitting in a chair. I've even been helped with drink refills while nursing inside TDS (so nice!). Yes, waiting in line with kids is tough but it also teaches them patience and manners. TDS is kid friendly - you just have to manage expectations. -- you can order 4 items to go at the bar at any time. A cheese dip, a blue plate, and 2 tacos is plenty for two to share. Just a tip. Go where the bar rails are and order (you'll see a small sign). -- you can't call and place a take out order. Sorry. -- if you have more than 4 items to carry out, you have to wait in line. -- there is a secret kids menu at the counter. Mostly naked tacos but oh golly gosh the brisket with cheese is heaven! -- if you order a guac or cheese dip, you can order just ONE salsa rather than the entire salsa trio. -- You can customize tacos - just ask! Whether it's extra jalapeños or sauce on the side, or even adding cole slaw to your brisket taco (which you should do, BTW), they are happy to work with you! -- the side salad is giant. Overall great value for tasty a la carte Mexican fare. Salsa trio, cheese dip and guacamole are all great starters. The weekly specials are hit or miss. I enjoyed the nutty shrimp taco twice this week. The tacos in general are rather small, but most of them do have enough protein for the price. Just order an extra one to make sure you're satisfied. On the other hand, the enchiladas are sizable and a great value with lots of options for mixing and matching fillings and toppings. I prefer the brisket or cheese enchilada with the beef red chili sauce. The pork green chili sauce is also great but a notch higher on the spice level. The shrimp corn chowder is a good choice as well. Head on up to the bar and grab a tasty margarita if the food line is long or just wait in line and grab one when you order. The counter service model allows the kitchen to keep up with the orders and serve your food shortly after you order and find a table. I'm not crazy about this model when the line is long, but it seems to work for them. Unfortunately, if your children aren't old enough to stand in line patiently and sit in a standard seat, I wouldn't recommend dining here if it's busy or if you need a high chair. We didn't see any. Parking can be a challenge at times because the entire development lacks sufficient parking and the vehicular circulation through the lot and walkways on this end of the development are poorly designed. read more

Great food!! I have been to the location in Midtown and it was excellent and so is this location in Chamblee! There is plenty of parking, also very affordable and the best feature is the lovely covered patio. We shared the delicious salsa trio and the queso! I also had the delicious brisket, portobello mushroom and fish tacos !! A great place to eat with friends or your family. The reason why I didn't give it a 5 star rating is due to the wait. If you do not get there when they open you may wait a while to order and be seated. That also may be considered a good problem to have! Lol! Good place to dine over all! read more

Came to this place for lunch with other coworkers. Location is ideal and in a shopping plaza with a Whole Foods plus other business. Ample parking for all. I was under the impression this was a sit down and a waiter/waitress takes your order but it is not. No Biggie. Upon entering you stand in line to place your food order. There is no menu listed on a bored so you must pick up a paper menu located in front of the register. The location of menu is not ideal if there is a long line. A menu should be available at the entrance. Placing the order was no issue and you are assigned a number to place on your table. Food does get served to you once the waiter/waitress located your number. In regards to food it was ok. Out table had different types of tacos and enchiladas. All was ok but not something to rave over. Once we were ready to leave we needed to place a to go order which can only be done back at the register. At that point in time the line was long. There is a bar seating area where you can place to go orders but the bar can only handle 1 to go order at a time. I have never heard of that before but I did fine it odd.
