Chupito's is a place I will visit if I'm craving a very specific thing, and I typically will only visit when I want said thing. I'm talking about a good plate of arroz con pollo, or rice with chicken. Do I really enjoy their ACP? Yes. Do I believe that there are much better Mexican options in the area? Also yes. The convenience and location of Chupito's is its big advantage. I'm typically in on a Sunday afternoon and around that time, the dining room is always fairly empty. There is typically always one gentleman that's in at this time and he always does a great job, he comes to take my order quickly, is eager to refill my cup or chips and is attentive. Given that I'm usually the only one in, I'd certainly expect that! The food is fairly mediocre and nothing to write home about, although their ACP is certainly strong enough to warrant a repeat visit. Their version of ACP is called the Pollo Loco and it quite literally is rice, chicken and queso. Despite being a combination that you cannot possibly mess up, I'd say that Chupito's does a relatively good job with this dish. The chicken is tender and smokey, and the rice has a slight kick to it. There's definitely flavor! It is a quite expensive dish though. I've had the opportunity to try their combination plates as well. On paper, it looks super enticing, lots of food for super cheap...and that's how they get you! I've fallen for this trap a few times and each time I feel a bit underwhelmed. Whether it's a taco or a burrito or enchilada, I can always look forward to some dry chicken or an item that is way too dense with oily ground beef. Not to mention, the rice always feels kind of like it's bottom of the barrel. This is why I stick to the ACP! Overall, I'd describe Chupito's as your neighborhood Mexican restaurant. This place is legit and what I've been looking for. I've tried most Mexican restaurants in Dunwoody, Sandy Springs and Peachtree Corners. NONE compare. Started with a pitcher of skinny margaritas and chunky guacamole- both were hand made and awesome. The chicken chimichangas were terrific and I swear the tamale combo plate came from someone's home kitchen. Very authentic and very good. Highly recommend this place if you want food that's more like Houston or Dallas. read more

So this Mexican restaurant is in an area that's pretty dense with a lot of other things so you have to know what you're looking at if you're looking for it. The bar is a full bar and it has a lot of tequila options. I feel like that should be obvious lol. As soon as I walked in the door I will serve so the service was good. They were very attentive. The place is a lot bigger than what you would think. It has indoor and outdoor city. It's about to be nice outside so you really want to make sure you get there and get a good seat. All of there really isn't very much to look at except a parking lot but at least you can be outside instead of stuck inside of the building. The chicken tacos and a chicken nachos is what I went with. It was a solid choice. Nachos came out with the cheese super melted, and it wasn't no kfradr cheese sauce either. You can order extras (like lettuce and sour cream) but each have a small charge associated with them. Came with some Verde salsa. Thoroughly enjoyed them. Tacos came out good too, the meat was not as tender as I liked, but it was still good. Like, you don't think it JUST came off the grill, but that wasn't a deal breaker at all... Chupitos is one of Dunwoody's choices for Mexican food and they do a great job. The owner is very proactive and hustles to make sure food is served hot and everyone is happy. My favorite is the Carnitas with black beans, never disappoints. The shrimp quesadillas are always a hit. A new menu item is Tres Leches. This dessert is a standard for most Mexican restaurants and most Mexican restaurants doing an OK job with it. Chupitos has the best Tres Leches I have ever had because it was authentic and served with a flair. Excellent choice if you want to stay and Dunwoody and see your neighbors, friends, etc. read more

Used to come here pre-Covid all the time, then had a couple of bad experiences after ownership changed. We decided to try it again - wow. We ordered tea, which tasted like water, and never got our order taken even though the place was basically empty. Very disappointing, we hoped it would be good again. We walked out! read more

I ordered through yelp and it took a very long time and I never did get confirmation that the order was being made. When I arrived to pick up the order, there was some confusion and I was almost given the wrong order. I can't believe I'm just now writing this, but I'm on a Yelp kick during a long car ride to the mountains. Darren has made this restaurant fantastic. The food is REALLY good - we took some of our neighbors there who were breaking up with their old Mexican spot (due to a rude server making their son cry) and they now can't wait to go back to CHUPITOS - where everyone is not only friendly but the food is "legit" as my neighbor said. We eat here as often as we can and it's one of the very few restaurants my husband feels ok taking our daugther (who is basically feral) to. All the food is good but stand outs are the brisket and the any of the "locos" which are just rice, meat and cheese dip but you can add veggies and it's so good. Catering with Darren and team are also a standout. We had a taco bar for my daugther's birthday, and we sent her teachers home with enough food for a week as it was so plentiful. We also did a taco bar for my kids' school's teacher appreciation week and they LOVED it. Their only complaint is we couldn't include the margs that we had at my daugther's bday (oh did I mention you can have these delivered when catering?). Anyway, go to Chupitos. The staff is really lovely, the bartender that someone else made some comments about is hilarious and fun and makes a mean drink, and the food is hot, fresh and really good. read more

I've been to this restaurant many times over the decades I've lived in the neighborhood, through several changes in ownership/management. However, tonight was my last time. The food was decent, noting too special, but good for the usual mom & pop Tex-Mex. My issues were with the service. It started off good, but then our waitress disappeared after a bit. The bartender somewhat took over, but as we were finishing the meal, I was finally asked if I wanted another drink. At that point, I said no, since we were done. He proceeded to bring me another beer, despite the fact I said no, and, of course, charged me for it. While delivering it, with me repeating that I did not want it, he made several snarky comments such as it would take my wife "45 minutes to finish" the two sips remaining of her margarita. When she held up her glass and said she was almost done, he again made a smart-ass comment asking if she "spoke English". He quickly said he was joking, probably as he saw the look on my face, but this was completely out of line. Finally, as he delivered the check, still with the extra beer on it, my wife handed him a credit card and he made yet another comment about her "being the boss". I remained calm, instead of responding in an infuriated manner, but I can tell you they will never get any business from me ever again. There are several other Mexican restaurants in the immediate area. Do yourself a favor and pick one of the others and avoid this mediocre establishment with an exceptionally inappropriate attitude. read more

Overall the dinner was average. I'm giving it 3 stars over 2 in light of the pandemic and that they are fairly new but it really is more like 3 stars. The guy at the hostess stand sat us down at a table with not enough chairs, so one of us had to pull our own chair up. Then, we were only handed 2 menus for the 6 of us, with one being dirty. We had to repeatedly ask for more menus, and were finally handed 2 more. One of us asked for the different types of margaritas they had (no drinks menu available), since they were not an avid drinker and the server would just keep repeating "I don't know we have all of them" until they were so frustrated they just ended up getting water. I got the fajitas. They were decent. Not as flavorful as other places. I had to add salt and pepper and still wished it had a bit more. The food all came out at different times. One person at the table finished their quesadilla before I even got my fajitas. I did enjoy the grilled pineapple. The queso was good!
