We stopped here for lunch and was greeted by great service. Our waitress was extremely attentive and friendly. Very accommodating for vegetarians! They had wide menu selection. We ordered the veggie quesadilla with broccoli and cauliflower, veggie burrito with peppers, mushrooms, and onions, and the cheese enchiladas with broccoli and cauliflower. Food was flavorful and hot. Margarita was medium size (20oz) and strong. Only complaint was that the chips were hard and tasted little stale. But the salsa was good. I have been dining here for about two years, and I have never experienced service like I did today. Unfortunately, the service was very disappointing. Our server did not introduce herself and gave the impression that she was uninterested in providing service. Once our food was delivered, she never returned to check on us or ask if we needed anything else. As we were finishing up and needed to-go boxes and the check, I had to call the restaurant to request assistance. The individual who answered the phone also lacked professionalism and responded in a very nonchalant manner when I asked for our server to come outside. It was not busy at the time, which made the experience even more confusing, as we appeared to be the only guests seated outside not receiving the same level of service as others. La Botana looks like it's been in the same location for awhile. I was looking forward to coming here for dinner tonight after reading the more recent Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, I came away from the restaurant with just an average dining experience. Parking is free and ample in the parking lot that wraps around the restaurant. I was able to get a parking spot not too far from the front door of the restaurant. As we walked closer to the restaurant, which has lots of glass so that we could see inside, we were able to observe that, at least along the glass windows, there was no social distancing to speak of. We walked in and were greeted immediately by a masked employee. We told her that we'd like a table for two, and pointed out an empty table that was away from just about everyone else. The employee told us that we could sit anywhere we wanted, so we went to the table we had already picked out, and we were about 8 feet away from other customers. We were given menus and glasses of water. The menu is rather extensive. So extensive that when our server came to the table to take our order, we weren't ready because we hadn't read everything on the menu yet. When the server came back about five minutes later, we were ready; R ordered the carne asada tacos and I ordered the chile Colorado. Chips and salsa were brought to our table soon after. Although the chips were warm, they seemed a little stale, and the salsa wasn't the least bit spicy - it was kind of bland, actually. Looking around, I noticed there is a bar area, but I don't know if they're actively using it because no one was sitting in that area of the restaurant. I thought that the two TV monitors hanging on opposite sides of the restaurant was different, since this place doesn't tout itself as a sports bar, nor is it a fast food place. Within 15 minutes, our food was served at our table. My entire meal was hot (in temperature): chunks of tender beef in dark red, slightly spicy chile Colorado sauce, with a side of delicious refried beans topped with cheese, a side of bland Spanish rice and three small flour tortillas that were wrapped in aluminum foil. R's sides of refried beans topped with cheese and the Spanish were hot, but his three large carne asada tacos were served warm. I sampled half of one of the tacos, and thought the meat lacked flavor. My chile Colorado was a lot more flavorful than the tacos. During the time we were in the restaurant, I could hear someone periodically coughing at a table on the other side of the restaurant. Who goes to a restaurant nowadays with a cough? Needless to say, I ate my meal quickly and then put my mask back on. Food is priced very reasonably, and they provided portions that are on the large side for the price points. Service was good. The server was polite, patient to us first timers, and very accommodating to our questions. The regular margaritas were fantastic! They were not watered down and had an excellent blend of liquor to juice. This small place doesn't look like it will transport you straight to Mexico but the food does. We come here all the time and out favorite meal is the Texas quesadilla!!! They load it up with steak, chicken, and shrimp with bell peppers and onions. We also get the la botana grill which is rice , veggies steak and chicken smoothed in cheese dip. ( we ask for the sauce on the side because if can be too much at times) The chicken rice soup is the best during the winter. I was in the area on Friday so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to drop in for lunch since it had been years since I last ate there. It looked exactly the same as I remembered. I placed my to go order with the Owner who was very friendly and welcoming. I originally was going to order the shrimp quesadilla, but he suggested the seafood quesadilla which had more seafood and other veggies for the same price. My husband and I love La Botana. We come here almost every week. We usually order the Enchiladas Rancheros, La Botana Grill (with chicken and refried beans instead of rice), or the Birria tacos. We also order the Jamaica (pronounced hu-my-kuh) to drink which is a beverage made from hibiscus flowers. They make it better than any other place I've been. La Botana is my local neighborhood Tex-Mex restaurant. Literally down the street from my apartment complex. Atmosphere: I would highly suggest sitting outside if the weather is nice. Not much of a view, but it usually feels good outside, as long as it's not the winter or raining. Parking: Decent sized parking lot. You won't have trouble finding a spot unless it's Cinco de Mayo. Food: I've been here several times and have usually had the quesadillas, fajita skillet, and many of the combination specials. La Botana has really low prices, which is one of the main reasons I like coming here. This go around, I had the Fajitas Tacos ($8.25), which comes with rice, beans, lettuce, guacamole, sour cream (hold that), & pico de gallo. As I've had the fajita skillet before, it tasted the same. Really good! Customer Service: It's pretty fair. Our waiter was attentive and checked on us until after he check came. I'm not sure if he forgot, but 15 minutes went by and he never came back to take the card, so I took it inside to him.
