I can't believe I haven't visited this restaurant before! It's less than 10 minutes from me and maybe some of the best Tex-Mex I've ever had! We got the family style meal to split between five of us and it was a perfect amount. It filled us up and we still had leftovers for the road. The food was amazing and perfectly seasoned. This salsa and chips were the perfect side and I couldn't go wrong with my sweet tea to drink. The service was incredible with our waitress coming to check on us every few minutes to make sure we were doing OK. Overall, I will be recommending to all my local friends! It really saddens me to leave this review because Pappasito's has always been one of our absolute favorite places to eat whenever my husband and I are in Atlanta. We've had great experiences here in the past, which is exactly why our visit on Sunday was so disappointing. We arrived around 4 PM and were seated almost immediately. The young man who seated us let us know that our waiter would be with us shortly. He didn't give us menus, so I asked if our waiter would be bringing them. He initially said yes, then said he could get me one if I wanted one. Yes, please! About 10 minutes passed, and we watched several tables around us get seated and waited on while no one had come to our table. My husband finally went to the front desk to let them know. He was told that the young man serving the table next to us would be with us shortly, but a few minutes later a young lady named Tatiana came over and became our server. We ordered a strawberry lemonade and a soda, queso, and shared the Pappasito's Grill. We requested the steak medium-well and also ordered an extra side of beans and rice. We also had to ask for the tortillas that should have accompanied our meal. Since we were sharing the entrée, we were given only three tortillas between the two of us. We asked for additional tortillas, but unfortunately, those never came either. When our food arrived, there were several problems. The steak was closer to medium-rare than medium-well, the carrots and peppers were still basically raw, and even the bacon wrapped around the shrimp was undercooked. The chicken was really the only part of the meal that seemed properly cooked. We sent the meal back, and our waitress apologized and told us they would get us another one along with fresh, properly cooked vegetables. After waiting approximately another 30 minutes, what came back was even more disappointing. Instead of receiving what appeared to be a freshly prepared meal, it seemed that the food we had sent back had simply been cooked further. The steak that was initially undercooked was now well-done, the vegetables had been removed completely, and no replacement vegetables were brought out. By this point, the extra beans and rice sitting at our table were cold. Two different managers came by on separate occasions to apologize, which we appreciated. One of them asked if we needed anything while we waited, and my husband asked for a refill on his drink. Unfortunately, the refill never came--just like the additional tortillas we had requested earlier. To management's credit, they ultimately comped our meal, and we did appreciate them doing that. However, the food that was brought back out was left sitting on the table untouched. At that point, after the long wait, receiving undercooked food, having it returned overcooked and incomplete, and repeatedly asking for things that never arrived, we had simply lost our appetite. What makes this so disappointing is that this has NEVER been our experience at Pappasito's before. We didn't come looking for a free meal--we came because this is one of the places we genuinely look forward to eating whenever we're in Atlanta. Unfortunately, after this experience, we'll be taking a break from Pappasito's for a while. I truly hope this was just an unusually bad day because this was nowhere near the food or service we've come to know and enjoy over the years. read more

Pappasitos Cantina on Windy Hill, 9/18/26. Pretty flowers, fancy decor, professional bar. Reservations recommended. There were 9 of us in our party. We all placed our orders, and waited and waited. The place was terribly noisy, difficult for conversation. The mariachi band was very talented, but added to the cacophony of noise. There was a balloon artist for kids. When the food finally came, it was brought to us two plates at a time, and looked wonderful. Each person was asked if everything seemed okay, and each said okay. I waited for mine to be brought, but when we noticed our waitress chatting with a coworker, my friend got up and asked her about my plate. The waitress had not even noticed that I had no food, no plate, nothing. After coming to the table to verify that I had no food, the waitress said she would go get it. Then she came back to tell me that it was being prepared. By the time my food came, the 8 other guests had finished eating. They chatted politely while I ate. The food was good, but not worth the $40 per person cost. (No alcohol was served, but we did have an appetizer of guacamole dip.) The complementary chips were delightfully thin and not too salty, the salsa was just a little spicy and nicely flavored. Would I ever eat here again? No. I will just drive 10 minutes north on I-75 up to Barrett Parkway to eat at El Nopalito. The food is just as good and half the price. And the service is much better. read more

Came here for a work dinner...I think there was ten of us...we were seated at a large round table which was perfect. Our server Ralph came over right away and took drink orders...got the mango margarita...it was very good! He handled our large table very well and was very attentive during our dining experience...so shout out to Ralph! Pappasito's Cantina is a festive, tex-mex chain restaurant. There are none where we live, so we when we travel to the Atlanta area, we always make sure Pappasito's is on our list. The menu is huge, and everything is so flavorful. My husband and I shared the fajitas for two (the Wednesday special) and enjoyed every bite. The tortillas are made fresh and are so fluffy and delicious. The steak and chicken were cooked perfectly...not overdone or dry. The sides of veggies, rice and beans were perfect. Pappasito's It was my first time there, and it was very busy. Not sure if it's always like that or if it was just because of the holiday weekend, but the wait was about an hour. Virgin Miami Vice - It was really good, but it was blended a little thick, so it was hard to drink through the straw. I was also unaware it came topped with whipped cream. That's just a personal preference, and it's an easy fix to remove. Smoked Árbol Ribs - These were the star of the meal for me, which was surprising because when I think Mexican food, ribs aren't the first thing that come to mind. The árbol chili glaze sauce was excellent and really made the dish. Family Platter #2 (Grilled Quail, Beef Fajita, Grilled Chicken & Diablo Shrimp) We had some issues with the platter, but the manager addressed everything without us even having to ask. Because of the mix-up, we ended up getting lamb chops as well, which was a nice surprise. And for the record, this time I didn't request a manager or make a complaint! I don't get the bad reviews. I don't even really like Tex Mex and I genuinely like this place. I always order the Pappasito's Grill and it never misses. The steak is cooked perfectly, super tender, and the bacon wrapped shrimp is outstanding. You can actually taste the grill. The Island Time drink is delicious and perfectly strong.The table side chips and salsa are also really good. Fresh, warm, and just enough heat. The parking lot is always packed, but I've never had an issue finding a spot, even if it's toward the back. Service has been incredible every time. Incredibly busy and we couldn't get in the night before, so on this Saturday in late February we made reservations for our second attempt. I've eaten here before and the crowded restaurant and music make for a party atmosphere and we heard several birthday songs during our meal. But unfortunately, the service and food isn't as good as it used to be. I ordered the Shrimp Brochette and it didn't have any jalapeno and the shrimp were smaller and the bacon flavorless and they appear to be cutting costs by going with cheaper ingredients. Also they've added big chucks of vegetables as filler to disguise the smaller portions. The charro beans were okay, but the rice on the side was disappointing. The complimentary tortilla chips were very good and fresh with a flavorful (although watery) salsa. Service was abysmal and we couldn't get drink refills, get our check, or get the payment processed. They charge a premium but the service and food don't represent the expense, and it's too easy to find a small family owned Mexican restaurant that is priced better, can serve better, and taste better. read more

Happy to find the one outpost of Pappasito's beyond the Republic of Texas. Packed with happy diners on an early Sunday evening, it had exactly the atmosphere, decor, vibe, you'd expect from a Pappasito's, or if you're not familiar, a place to give you a strong tex-mex vibe from the second you enter. Roving band of mariachi's. Where they might have been a touch weak in talent, they certainly made up with volume and enthusiasm. Salsa, queso, chips. The medium queso was plenty for two, you'll stuff your face with chips salsa and queso and then wonder how to handle the enormous dinner plate quickly placed in front of you. Number one lesson in Pappasito's, the dishes are massive. I ordered two cheese enchiladas with a crispy beef taco and the plate was only slightly smaller than my coffee table at home. Wife's tortilla soup was the same way; a bowl so big and full there was no possibility of finishing. The food is a bit short of tex-mex perfection. It's certainly as good and authentic as I'd ever expect to find outside of Texas, so we still left happy. Service was friendly and very attentive. They started apologizing for being slow about 5 minutes after we ordered dinner, so expect a pretty quick pace, they want to move the crowds through. read more

Those people were finished eating before any other food hit the table. 2 more entrees came out 20 minutes later and finally the last one about 10 minutes later. The last 3 people just boxed up their food up without eating. Luckily they gave us some appetizers in-between so we had something to eat. I tried my boxed up food when I got home. After tasting it they could have saved the box and just put it directly in the trash. I'm not convinced it is even the right item. Was supposed to be steak fajita quesadilla and pretty it is just a steak quesadilla. Either way it was over done chewy steak and very burnt. Overall absolutely horrible experience and horrible food. They comped the entire meal and apologized but when less then half the people actually get to eat, it is the least they can do. This was a first, last, and only visit here for me. Love Pappasitos! My favorite thing here is the quail, it's truly delicious with excellent flavor. The flavors in all of the food here is very authentic-- everything is well seasoned and the portions are great. Living in Memphis, we do not have a restaurant like this, so we try to plan our trips through Atlanta so that we can eat at this yummy establishment. The steak fajitas with that yummy Mexican butter are to die for. We absolutely love them. The flavor of the steak is so tasty and the Mexican butter just puts it over the top. You want to just keep eating it even though you know you have already had enough. We got the large which says that it feeds 2-3 and it was plenty for the two of us with leftovers to take home. The service is always really fast and the restaurant is ALWAYS packed, so definitely make reservations ahead of time online to avoid that long wait. The restaurant is festive and pretty loud, but that is to be expected at a Mexican restaurant with a bar. The complimentary chips are super thin and salty, THE BEST! The salsa is served warm which is unique, but I really like it. The white queso is a little different than other casual Mexican restaurants as it is a little thicker and definitely has a kick from the jalapeños. We love this place! This was my first time here. They served us chips and salsa which the chips were really good but the salsa was too spicy! We ordered the cheese dip and it was way over the top spicy! I ordered the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp on the side as well as the dressing. Salad looked great and big, but it was spicy! Who puts cayenne pepper on a Caesar salad? I know the food is supposed to be spicy but not so spicy you can't taste the food! Very disappointing especially when you are hungry. John was our server and he did an excellent job.
