You will not be going to this place for the ambiance. It's a very casual spot, but we were surprisingly impressed by how good the food was. We each tried the fried catfish and shrimp basket and dined there. It came with fries, too. Each protein batter was different: cornmeal on the fish and a light flour batter on the shrimp and both were very good. The coatings stayed on and neither was thick or clumpy. The real surprise came later that night when I pulled out my leftover food from the fridge and ate it cold because there was no microwave in our hotel room. I couldn't believe that cold, fried food didn't taste greasy or leave that "oil slick taste" on the roof of our mouths! The portions were big, so that meant I still had fries leftover. I took them home and I anted to see how they fared 2 days later after hearing in a skillet. Mannn; those were some good fries as they tasted almost as good as they did on day 1! I ordered a three piece whiting dinner tonight since I had a taste for some fish. It took a while for my food to be prepared so the guy who took my order gave me a free drink. When I finally received my order I asked for tarter sauce and mustard in case I didn't like the tarter sauce. The pieces of fish were huge. I could only eat 1 piece. The fries were really crispy just like I like them. I was very disappointed with the tarter sauce, but I had already been warned by a previous review. I was passing by this place on the way to my hotel so I decided to stop and give them a shot. I ordered the 3 piece whiting dinner, that comes with fries, cole slaw and white bread. The fish had some bones in it but it was good and seasoned well. The fish is a nice size for the price you pay. The tarter sauce was good and they give you some ketchup but if I would've been home I would've been able to doctor that fish up the way I really like with some hot sauce or mustard or malt vinegar. Depends on what u like to do. Next time I'm staying in this area I would give them another shot. They also have sushi, they are actually connected to the sushi restaurant next door they have a breezeway where you can walk between both places. read more

This was my third visit and this place is always thriving with take out orders, so I have been trying to see what the hype is about and I have been disappointed on every visit. On my first visit, I ordered the chicken and shrimp hibachi, and I must say that it was OK, we also ordered fried rice which was a little bit challenged, it seemed old with a funny taste. The second time we ordered fish and I am no stranger to seafood, so I know exactly what ocean perch fish should look and taste like, and it definitely was not ocean perched fish that was served.. I did not have the energy to drive back up there, so make sure you know your fish and check it before you leave. The third time we ordered the 10 piece whole fried wings and shrimp fried rice, the chicken was fried in burned grease that smelled up my entire house and the shrimp fried rice was not good at all. The chicken wings were probably my favorite our of the meal. Full wing and seasoned. The catfish came in easily at 2nd place (maybe even a tie for 1st) as it was also flavorful and cooked just right. The shrimp and scallop get no place. They are both breaded but to me sense neither the breading nor the seafood have seasoning what's the point in the breading? Don't go looking for bright lights and a cozy atmosphere but you'll be in and out really fast. It isn't a soulful Sunday recipe so expect a slightly different taste than what your momma tosses in the oil. However, it's good enough to go back. I used to have wait until I went on a road trip out of town to get my fried chicken gizzard fix at some interstate road stop in a rural location. Then I discovered SC Fried Seafood in Smyrna less than 5 miles from home (half a mile from Braves Stadium/Truist Park)! The wait is short for take out orders. The fried gizzard (seasoned with lemon pepper) meal comes with french fries. The last time I went there, I was extra hungry and also ordered the beef teriyaki (with noodles) and 1/2 lb. seafood boil (shrimp with heads on, comes with potato and corn). The place I normally go to is a little further away so I decided to give this place a try. It did not disappoint! SC fried food didn't really have a seating area I'm assuming because of Covid most of the booths and tables are pushed up against the wall. I did notice most people ordered ahead and came to pick up their food. My only con was the tartar sauce. For me eating fish with hot sauce and tartar sauce is of a part of the experience. This is my new favorite place! I've been searching for somewhere to get fried chicken gizzards that didn't look like they came from a parakeet.
