Five stars across the board for this establishment. We had no idea this place existed in our backyard. This is now been added to our top five list of Mexican restaurants in Atlanta. Their service was phenomenal, super friendly. The food was exceptional, including the the margarita; highly recommend the house. When I wouldn't recommend are the churros, a little mediocre. Can't wait to come back again with friends!

We went early on a Saturday after an art event. Sat at the bar with Davod. He was awesome. Knew everything about the menu and ingredients. My friends can't have gluten. The chips are the big ones you break and they were really good and the restaurant was not stingy with them like Bar Taco. The cheese dip with jalapeño's served in a skillet was amazing. You can chose between chips and. Or the tortillas. We got both. We also got a side of beans rice and mushrooms. We mixed these all up and put in the tortillas. I love mushrooms and these were great. The frozen margarita was good. Not amazing. My friends got the margarita on the rocks with the mezcal tequila. She loved it. It wasn't all ice like some bars serve up. Would go again. Also loved the atmosphere.

Skirt steak bone marrow tacos

Atmosphere was bumping, but the food and service weren't. It was very busy from about 6pm-8pm (when we left). Bar was packed, and there were crowds of people crammed together waiting for tables, which definitely added to the energy. Still a good vibe though! Overall, the food was good, just not great. Something felt a little "off" across most of the dishes. And if I'm comparing it to a similar local spot like Casi Cielo, Oaxaca really pales in comparison. What we ordered: * Herb guacamole - beautiful presentation, but way too much lime. * Ceviche de camarón - honestly didn't like this. We ate it only because it was $20 and we were hungry. Extremely acidic, zero balance, and the components didn't marry well. * Ensalada César - the dressing had dairy, so I had to sub a creamy avocado salsa, which they charged $4 for without saying. Salad itself was extremely basic--literally chopped romaine and breadcrumbs. * Menu issues - the online menu isn't updated. We went hoping for the tuna ceviche, but they only had a second shrimp ceviche option. It was better (serrano tomatillo + soy lime juice), but the weird ice-cream-scoop-style chunks of rock-hard avocado on top were... odd. It needed balance, but hard avocado scoops weren't it. * Skirt steak tacos with bone marrow - disappointing. Flavor was good, but the minced meat texture was weird and kept falling out of the tortillas. Service was slow slow slow, and I was really taken aback by the server trying to sneak in extra charges--especially for the only dairy-free dressing option.

Same country, totally different flavor story. Oaxacan food is like Mexico's deep, smoky, soulful cousin -- and once you've tried it, there's no going back. I was recently invited to @oaxacaatl Oaxaca, Chamblee to try their new menu additions -- and it was nothing short of a flavor fiesta! Bringing the authentic taste of Oaxacan cuisine to Atlanta, they use a mix of locally grown and imported ingredients that make every dish burst with freshness and depth. We started with some stunning appetizers -- equal parts gorgeous and delicious -- and the outdoor seating made it all even more perfect. Sampled - 1- Elote OR Esquite 2- Herb Guacamole ( gorgeous presentation and tasted great) 3- Queso Fundido ( best I've tried ) 4- Ceviche de Tuna ( was really appreciated) Their cocktails deserve their own spotlight -- the Condesa and OG Margarita were instant favorites The Taco Portobello ( was a unique presentation) The Pollo A la Lena The Grilled Truffle Salmon was a big hit!! The Bonemarrow With so many bold and vibrant flavors across their entrees, Oaxaca Chamblee is definitely one of those spots you'll want to go back to again and again.

So this is a really nice spot. If you wanted to have a little duck off and maybe have a small group or a date. It's also a pretty nice spot if you want to have a larger group that could sit outside. Not too large though. But this is a really good spot all together. It's Latin food so keep that in mind when you order, some of it may be topless other ones, maybe full entrees, but you can get the full Gambit of things that you're looking for here. When you come in, you'll be able to do free parking on the street. And there is a structure across the street as well. The bar area is really nice and everything is clean and the aesthetic looks very tropical. We came in for a drink because we had already eaten across the street and been meeting to try it. I had the OG margarita, which if your tequila fan, this will definitely be in your bag. They have a lot of mescal so if you want some smoke they can do that as well. They actually gave us a complimentary Margarita, but I'm not quite sure what it was necessarily, because it's not on the menu. But the fact that you gave me complimentary drinks was a big plus. The Bartender was super cool about it, he tried to explain it, but it overall a good experience.

Corn off the cob

There was some street construction the day we visited, so finding the right turn for the restaurant and parking garage was a bit tricky. Luckily, when you exit the parking garage, there are small signs that help guide you toward the hotel entrance. We had a reservation, but since it was early dinner time on a weekday, there were plenty of seats available both indoors and outdoors. The decor is really nice, stylish but comfortable. I do wish they had some backup seat cushions for customers who might need them since all the seats are hard, though that seems to be a common design choice in many restaurants nowadays. The servers were friendly, but they didn't seem too familiar with the menu. Once our food arrived, it was a little hard to get our server's attention, but any passing staff member was happy to help when we needed something. We ordered: - Ceviche de Camarón (shrimp ceviche): Fresh shrimp with a nicely balanced dressing, really good! - Esquite (corn off the cob with black garlic aioli, cotija cheese, and tajin): Flavorful and delicious. - Deep-Fried Shrimp Tacos (3 pcs): Super tasty and a favorite at our table. - Pollo a la Leña (half grilled chicken): We had the sauce on the side, but even after adding it, the chicken was still quite dry. The staff offered to add oil and regrill, but it didn't help much since the meat was already overcooked, the only disappointing dish of the night. We also had an octopus dish that I couldn't find on their online menu (forgot the name), but it was very good! It was my parents' anniversary, and they had a great time. We were too full for dessert, but we'll definitely come back the next time we're in the area.

Mushroom (sautéed with onions)

A restaurant on my list for over a year. Finally I was able to give it a try during the fall break! And it did not let me down! Location is Chamblee dt, about 600m from Chamblee station, and it takes ~30min to get there by train. The restaurant had a huge (shaded) patio and a high-ceiling, spacious dining room. Unlike many Mexican restaurants in Atlanta, this one is decorated modernly and I like it. For food, I got the Gringuitas and side mushroom. While their Gringuitas had been triangle-shaped, what I ordered was more like folded taco -- or unclosed quesadilla. Anyway, it is a Mexican street food featuring meat and melted cheese. They put finely diced al pastor, oaxaca cheese and pineapples in it, and served with cilantro, onions, and avocado and tomatillo sauces. Everything was packed with flavor. I especially liked the al pastor -- it was rich, meaty, spicy, and the pineapple added just right amount of freshness and sweetness to it. The two dressings were also a bit spicy. The side mushroom dish was basically mushrooms sautéed with onions. A little bit too oilly to me, but luckily not very salty. The total price was $26. In short, you deserve trying this restaurant if you like Mexican food. Way better than many around Midtown, and meanwhile quite affordable. I may consider taking my friends there next time to try e.g. ceviche, bone marrow tacos, etc.

Came here for a date and had a really great experience! I honestly had no idea there were restaurants hidden inside this apartment community--it was a cool surprise. The staff was super friendly, and the vibe of the restaurant was calm and relaxing. The food felt thoughtfully made--you can tell they care about presentation and use really fresh ingredients. I went for brunch, so I can't speak to lunch or dinner, but brunch was definitely a win! I especially liked the Queso Dip. Loved that they offered both pita chips and traditional chips--both were served in a fresh and creative way. Just a heads-up: based on other reviews (and my own take), this place seems to be part of a trend with Mexican restaurants in the city trying to elevate the dining experience. So depending on your expectations, it might be a hit or miss. If you're used to more traditional Mexican food and pricing, it might feel a little different. Still, I think it's worth checking out for yourself! I'd definitely come back and try more.

Hamachi crudo
Amanda C.

Was excited to try this cute restaurant and because I hadn't had Oaxacan food for about a year since I last went to Mexico! Love the decor - great for a date or a cute girls brunch or dinner. Service was fine - not great but not bad, wished our waitress was a bit more attentive bc there were times where we wanted to catch her but she was nowhere to be found. Went during Saturday lunch and it was about 75% full. We didn't have reservations and were seated promptly. We ordered the hamachi crudo, steak sandwich, pork belly memela, and churros. The hamachi crudo was very fresh & tasty with thick pieces of tender fish. Quite acidic so fyi if you don't like that flavor! Husband was disappointed at how thin the pieces of steak were & how little meat was in the sandwich but enjoyed the potatoes on the side. My pork belly itself was flavorful and tender but the memela was a bit thick, dry, and not as flavorful as expected compared to what I had in Oaxaca, Mexico. Churros were good and not too sweet!! Loved the chocolate dip.

Coffee flavored Tres Leches cake

Look at this cake. And yes--it really was as good as it looks, which only makes it more unfortunate that I won't be returning to this establishment. A close friend and I met for lunch at Oaxaca Chamblee, a setting I had hoped would complement what is usually a great dining experience between us. The food itself did not disappoint; however, the service did--consistently and significantly. Our server, Eric, was noticeably inattentive throughout our visit. I had to flag him down on multiple occasions just to receive basic service. At least three separate times, we had to notify him that our food was sitting in the window waiting to be served. Had we not spoken up, it's unclear how long it would have remained there. I had intended to order another cocktail but abandoned the idea altogether due to how infrequently Eric visited our table. The lack of attentiveness became increasingly frustrating. Despite my growing dissatisfaction, I decided to order dessert--because I am, unapologetically, a dessert girl. I asked about the dessert menu and chose the Tres Leches cake, specifically because it was already prepared and should have required nothing more than slicing and serving. My friend ordered churros, which also seemed like a reasonable and simple request. Unfortunately, even dessert became an ordeal. The churros arrived after approximately 15 minutes, but the Tres Leches cake took well over 20 minutes--long enough for us to finish the churros entirely before the cake ever appeared. At that point, I wanted to cancel the dessert altogether but could not get the attention of either the server or a manager. Eventually, I made eye contact with the manager, Luis, but Eric intercepted me before Luis could approach. I made it clear that I was attempting to speak with management. When Luis finally came to the table, I expressed my concerns: the food was good, but the service had been disorganized, slow, and inattentive, making the experience unpleasant. Rather than offering an apology, Luis immediately began justifying the delays, which was disappointing. I provided specific examples of the inattentiveness and extended wait times. He responded by explaining that desserts typically take 8-10 minutes to prepare--an explanation that did not align with our experience, as the cake arrived only after we had already finished the churros that came out much earlier. When the Tres Leches cake was finally placed on the table, I stated plainly that I had waited more than 20 minutes for it. Luis then clarified that he wasn't disputing my experience, but by that point, the damage was done. The cake arrived looking beautiful--but my frustration had already overshadowed the moment. I chose not to eat it there. As we left, my friend summed it up perfectly: "That cake looks good--but too bad I'll never be eating here again." Good food cannot compensate for consistently poor service, and unfortunately, this experience ensured that Oaxaca Chamblee will not be on my list of places to revisit.

If you are in Atlanta and want to experience Oaxaca cuisine, this is the place to be. Please advise that construction is being conducted on their street, and it's hard to get through. Service is incredible, multiple staff were very attentive The food selection was great. I had guacamole with their homemade chips (see the picture), and I had Carne asada tostadas, which had good flavors. Again, there is some renovation going on next to them, but the ambiance looks great.

Came here to try the sqash blossom quesadilla. I added steak because I'm not vegetarian. I steak saved this meal. The french toast had a good cream on it and was a bug portion. I would come back but I would get something else.

Food, service, ambiance... everything was superb. I would definitely come back again to try other things. I

Casi Cielo

Fives across the board…read more Casi Cielo is incredible. The space is warm and beautiful without trying too hard, and the crowd was hip and well dressed. Definitely a place to be seen and eat well. There's a parking garage but it was full when we got there, so we did valet, which was surprisingly affordable. Service was wonderful. Our server was attentive, helpful, and super knowledgeable about the menu. As for the food, we got: Aguachile de Pescado, which was insane. Super fresh, bright, citrusy, ceviche-like with perfect texture. I would go back just for that. The Hamachi was clean and bright. That avocado sauce tied everything together and gave it some depth without overpowering the fish. The Pork Belly Tostadas were crispy and rich with that smooth avocado mousse and sweet mango salsa balancing it out perfectly. Finally, the bone marrow with steak... so good. I had seen pictures of it before I came and it did not disappoint. The steak was incredibly tender. They bring blue corn tortillas and suggest making a taco with the marrow, steak, and avocado. It's great that way. But honestly, the marrow and steak stand perfectly on their own. Whole experience was excellent. Easily one of my favorite spots in the city now.

Wanted to love it…read more The vibes are there, the staff is genuinely lovely, and there's real potential here, we just had a bit of an adventure getting through the meal. We had someone in our party with a gluten allergy, and our sweet server was doing his absolute best, bless. We were steered away from the tostadas as a starter due to gluten concerns, so we pivoted to guac...which then arrived with a gluten-free tostada. So the tostadas would have been totally fine! Then a good while after we'd all ordered, she was told her entrée had gluten and needed to be changed. She reordered, and almost immediately, the rest of the table's food came out. So we were left choosing between eating without her or letting everything go cold. And the plantains she'd reordered around, because she'd been told they couldn't be made gluten-free? Turns out they absolutely can be. Just miss after miss there. The spicy margarita was more of a margarita that once passed a jalapeño on the street. I asked for extra jalapeño juice and they were happy to help, but without the seeds and ribs it just couldn't deliver on the heat. I'd skip the margs next visit. This just wasn't quite the relaxed easy dinner we'd hoped for, and the price point feels like it's a step ahead of where the experience currently lands. But I'm rooting for them to get there!
