We have been visiting Autlan since it was Taqueria Carnitas, and the interior, service & food have only improved with time. We stopped in on a weeknight and had the place pretty much to ourselves, including their incredibly generous salsa bar with fresh, house-made salsas. The chips & tortillas are made fresh in house and are so good we took our leftovers with us. The chile relleno was the best one I've had so far in Concord - meaty poblano chile with the stem still attached, stuffed with cheese, lightly battered & fried. It wasn't soggy or wet, which I've experienced at a few other places in town. These folks know what they're doing. The interior offers a classic taqueria experience - we were in & out in about 30 minutes at a relaxed pace - which is perfectly designed for lunch breaks and quick stops. The super burrito also looked great - we'll definitely be back! read more

Service/Ambiance: I went here for a quick late night dinner and was craving some Mexican food. The place inside is quite small with only 3 tables. Service was quick and got my food shortly after ordering. They also gave out free chips and salsa for ordering anything on the menu. Food: Chips and Salsa 5/5 - who doesn't like free chips? Their chips were homemade and super crunchy. You can tell they made it from scratch just from the texture if the chips. The taste was perfect with the right amount of salted added. Quesabirria 2.5/5 The pork was a bit too dry and I felt the soup was a bit lackluster in flavor. I have had better quesabirria before and its the souo that makes the quesabirria very good Overall I would say they have room for improvement. It did come with 3 quesabirria for a price of 13$ but I felt they could have added more ingredients to spice up the taco and soup Burrito 5/5 - The super burrito was delicious and hit the spot. It wasnt dry at all and had the perfect proportion of beans rice and meat. I ordered the EL PASTOR meat. It tasted perfect and fatty and more importantly it was not dry at all. I really enjoy their super burrito. If i were to come here again I would definitely order the super burrito. The price is $12.50 which is pretty decent for a S tier burrito. read more

While waiting for some tire work to be done on my car, I had the opportunity to enjoy a couple tacos at a small family restaurant that I have been driving past for years. I ordered a carne asada and al pastor taco a la carte. They were prepared promptly and delivered with a small bag of chips and two salsas. The carne asada was very good but the al pastor was exceptional. The sauce that the pork was marinated and cooked in was incredibly flavorful. Both were "street-sized" tacos but they were loaded with meat. I would definitely like to come back and try the other items on their menu. They deserved their spot on the Concord Taco Trail. read more

I ordered tacos with pastor (spicy pork). The tacos were piled high with meat and it was tasty! They have 5 salsas to choose from, I tried all 5. Hands down best salsa was the red spicy blend, it goes in with an explosion of different peppers the flavors were so good eating it made me dance in my seat. The server was polite and friendly, made me feel at home. Highly recommended if you're in Concord. read more

Service: 10/10. Family owned, super friendly and welcoming. Best Mexican food I have tried in awhile. We ordered homemade tortilla tacos: carne asada and carnitas; carnitas nacho plate. Salsa choices were so good. His wife makes the orange salsa which was very tasty. Everything was delicious. Can't wait to go back and try out other items on the menu. At this Taqueria, I enjoy the Tacos Al Pastor. They are dense with meat portion, have the right toppings and comes with a small bag of chips. Salsas are available at the salsa bar- I. found that I like their in-house salsa the best that they also sell in bottle form. This place is really convenient for me. The overall flavor of the tacos are good; I've had better tacos Al Pastor where the flavor profile was greater and there were better distinctions of sweet that should be coming from the pineapple bits. I'll plan to re-review as I try other options in the near future. The service is great and the turnaround time to get your order is quick. It's a great spot if you're in a pinch and in the area. read more

I am so sad about the ownership change with this Taqueria. The service was lacking tremendously. I'm used to the smiles from the cooks and the person behind the counter. It was so dead inside, no one else to be found on a weekend. I've been going to this Taqueria for years before it changed over. I've brought many friends here as a place that is welcoming, good food, and great prices. Now it is none of those things. It is no longer warm and welcoming, the quality of food has gone down, and the prices have gone up. I'm sad to say that I will no longer be a regular here unless things change. Truly this makes me very sad. It is so hard to find a good Taqueria and this was my favorite in Concord. Time to look elsewhere. read more

Sadly, I have to downgrade this place to 3 stars. Recently, I received a tip from a Yelp buddy of mine regarding the quality of food here. He told me the food just wasn't as good as it used to be. Since I hadn't eaten here in a while, I decided to do some investigation of my own to find out what's going on. Last Sunday, after a gun range outing with my niece and her boyfriend, we came here for a late lunch. Upon entering, I noticed their menu has changed a bit and they are now called "Taqueria Autlan" (although they didn't change their exterior signage). Also, their signature giant costume pig's head was removed from premise. I ordered a wet burrito with half carnitas and half costilla (rib tip) while my niece and her boyfriend each got a California Burrito. My niece and I got our food first but her boyfriend's burrito was MIA. After 10 minutes or so, he decided to check and found out they had totally forgotten about his burrito. They quickly made him one and apologized for the delay. Food wise, the complementary chips were stale and the spicy salsa wasn't spicy at all. My wet burrito was a disappointment. The carnitas wasn't as succulent as it used to be and the rib tip was inexplicably replaced by strips of pig skin. The one thing that did not change here was the friendliness of the staff. They were just as nice as the last owner and his crew. I hate doing this, but due to the fact that their food has deteriorated noticeably, I am downgrading this place to 3 stars. It will be a while, if ever, before I come back. read more

I have couple of issues with that restaurant through the Yelp order. 1. They charged me for soup that was in the menu but they didn't have any on the kitchen. 2. They ignored my mark "no spicy please" for whole order. 3. They didn't provide any receipt which is against Regulation 1686. Receipts for Tax Paid to Retailers. Reference: Section 6202, Revenue and Taxation Code. ...Each retailer required to collect use tax from purchasers (including lessees) must give a receipt to each purchaser (or lessee) for the amount of the tax collected... Meat is alittle Dry. I'd suggest not to water down all your sauce to save money. You're losing customer by doing that. The sauce is what makes Mexican food great. read more

Today I ordered 3 burritos, two carne asada with no onions or sour cream and one shrimp. It was 6:20pm, I ordered through the website. It said my order would be ready at 6:45pm. Parked and walked up and the door was locked. A lady was mopping inside and said "sorry we're closed" I explained to her (through the door) that I just spent $50 ordering on the website that didn't say they were closed! She told me to cancel the order. I couldn't cancel it because the website didn't have that option. She then told me "when we don't have customers we just close early" ??????? Seriously???? Needless to say she made my food and while I waited outside, multiple people came and they were turned away. I think that was my last order at this place. Oh, my burritos had sour cream and onions on them as well. FAIL. Do better people. read more

Ordered two chicken burritos tonight. One regular and one super. They weren't wrapped properly and tasted like someone spilled the salt shaker on the food. It's super unfortunate because they had decent ratings. I tried to call back in at 7:40pm, but they wouldn't answer the phone. They close at 8pm. $30.00 with tax and tip. Extremely disappointed. Okay, it isn't often that I wish there were more stars, but I just had beans flavored with crispy pork fat, and a tamale that was metes and bounds beyond any tamale I've ever had! My mothers "regular" burrito was good sized, and crammed full of big chunks of pork. This was my first time here, and the staff was very friendly and attentive, and the price was very reasonable. The fish tacos were really good. I love the flavor of the sauce they put on it. The hand made tortillas were a nice touch too I wasn't expecting handmade tortillas. SUMMARY: Ownership change, new brand, slightly expensive prices this go around. Food quality is still as good as the old Taqueria Carnitas Tijuana. FOOD Read my prior reviews of TCT and you'll understand that this is one of our go to restaurants in Concord. Good home style, non Americanized Mex food. This time around I wanted some soup and I especially wanted some menudo. How was it? Not bad but not as good I've had at other places in East LA and downtown LA. Good enough for Concord! The wife had al pastor, carnitas, and buche tacos. As they were with the previous place, the tacos were really good. RECOMMENDATION FOR FIRST TIMERS If you go to this place for the first time, stick with the tacos and go beyond the usual carne Assad's and (gasp!) chicken. read more

I stumbled upon this place while running an errand in Concord. I ordered the food over the phone and the attendant who took my order was very friendly. I was told it would be less than 10 minutes. I arrived paid for my food I got my shredded chicken super burrito and vegetarian super burrito along with a Horchata and a melon Agua Fresca. Carlos was the gentleman handling the cash register, orders and telephone calls. He was extremely friendly with a genuine smile. The food was excellent we sat in a nearby park and enjoyed our lunch. I highly recommend this Taqueria. read more

Things I ate: refried beans, rice, chicken enchilada, hand made tortilla ground beef taco, chips, and salsa bar Pros: -The owner: top notch customer service -refried beans that actually taste like beans. (You know what I mean) -Rice: simple, not oily, but good. -Taco: I will never order ground beef again, I don't know what I was thinking, this isn't Taco Bell. Should have done carnitas or something like that Chips: house made, crispy, free (I ate inside, not sure if free fire take out) -Menu variety: beans, Pinto beans, and black beans. Lots of meats etc. -salsa bar: I only tried the pico de Gayo, and the mild salsa because I'm a sissy lala. I came in and placed an order on Cinco de mayo and was told 20 min. I waited an hour total and my order was wrong. I confirmed with the lady my order before leaving and she promised it was correct. I ordered, a VEGGIE BOWL, CHICKEN EHCHILADA, ceviche, steak & chicken quesadilla. I was given, a CHICKEN BOWL, barely any ceviche and the two quesadillas. I never received the chicken enchilada and I am unable to eat the veggie bowl as it has meat. I need to get my family dinner and do not have time to go back tonight. Stopped here as part of the Concord Taco Trail. Got 3 tacos - asada, pollo, and pastor. The tacos are street tacos sized so topped with onion and cilantro. Limes were included in my box. I asked for chips and salsa when I ordered and the gal said they were included. My tacos were all good - flavor and moisture. I got 3 types of salsa and were all good. read more

Great Fresh Juice, mediocre burritos. I came here after my day shift to get a burrito for dinner and a drink. I purchased a Carnitas Burrito and a Watermelon Juice. The Watermelon Juice was really good but the burrito was lackluster. For the price around $14 theres much better options out there locally for a delicious burrito read more

So I would love to love this place. The staff are really sweet, the food is good BUT it's always a surprise what you'll end up getting. I don't think I've had a single order from this place that have ended up being what I ordered. Tonight was no exception. 3 burritos - 1 with chicken rice beans, 1 with chicken rice and salsa and 1 with rice beans and veggies And a side of guacamole. I even asked the guy to repeat the order back to me, mentioning that we never get what we order. Simple enough? Get home with: 1 steak rice and beans, 1 chicken rice and veggies and 1 with rice and beans. And no guacamole (I did check the bag first and asked where the guacamole was, and then was handed a small salsa sized container with guacamole, enough for like.. 2 chips.) If it wasn't for the fact that the place is walking distance from our house I would stop coming because it's pretty frustrating. You should be able to make a 3 ingredient burrito right. read more

I love everything about Taqueria Autlan. It feels super casual when you come in, and I always get talked to like I'm a friend or family. They have a large selection of items to choose from, and I'm still working my way through all of it, but I can definitely attest to their tacos. I've had the asada, fish and chicken tacos. All three are some of the best I've had in my life. The price is super cheap, meaning I can keep ordering (including a la cart), and it doesn't kill my wallet. On top of that, they have amazing nachos, asada fries, and they do popusas as well. You can order carnitas by the half pound if you want, and it's STILL super cheap. But I do have to say, while the food is what brought me in, the staff is what keeps me and my wife coming back. The first time we came in, we had no idea why to order, so we were helped by a super nice lady on what people tend to order here. We also asked about catering for an event, which she very quickly helped us out with planning! On my current trip (the one right now, while I'm even writing this), the dude who took my order was super chill and was talking with his customers and laughing. Like I said, I always feel like I'm at a close friend's or family members when I come in. Worth every dollar, will be back soon and often. read more

My son and I came for late lunch/early dinner: we had a cheese quesadilla and Chile verde "super" burrito with a coke and large agua de Jamaica for $19 total with tax. Delicious! Had much left over, as they serve generously. We could of easily split an order. I didn't take a picture prior to devouring it. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is chill. read more

It's one of those rare spots that stays consistently delicious no matter how many times you go, which is why I've happily supported them for so long. Their rotisserie chicken is out-of-this-world good--super juicy, perfectly seasoned, and roasted so the skin has that irresistible golden flavor. Every time I pick one up, I'm reminded why I've been coming here for so long. And the sides? Honestly, they're just as crave-worthy. The rice and beans are the ultimate comfort combo--flavorful, warm, and exactly what you want next to that chicken. The fresh tortillas are a game-changer: soft, warm, and perfect for making little tacos on the spot. And their salsa? Bright, fresh, and packed with just enough heat to make everything pop. I can't forget the carnitas either. There's a ton of seating inside, and everything is very spacious. Though, I do have to say it always feels incredibly empty for some reason and there's never anybody actually inside outside of a few tables, but they do have tons of takeout so perhaps that's the tradeoff. However, don't let the lack of eating patrons inside the place put you off. This taqueria offers a good variety of different options as any taqueria would offer, and many of the options have pictures and stuff with it. The service here is, kind of hit or miss. The people in the front usually aren't overly friendly, and will sometimes feel like they're just there until the clock turns work over. Sometimes they're bordering on rude as they just kind of give you an indifferent stare as you're ordering, or will just feel as if they're half listening and not even looking up. The service was a bit better when I dined in, so perhaps maybe it's just the takeout, although it's usually the same person for both. Price wise, it's certainly not going to be cheap. If you want the best bang for your buck around here, El Aguila probably won't be it as there's a plethora of taquerias in this area. Food quality wise, it's pretty good overall. There are some tasty dishes here that will certainly warrant the little bit of extra cost here compared to other places. Things that I have tried here are the burritos and the torta. The burritos here are yummy as they they will have ingredients inside the burrito that is slightly different than your cookie cutter burrito at any other place. It really does help adds layers of flavor to it that other places do not offer. However, the best part of it is indeed the fact they grill the outside of the burrito to get that nice flakiness that wrap, and makes it a oh so rewarding experience. Meat portions was okay, but wish it had more especially for the cost. The torta I got was pretty good, as the ingredients inside were pretty typical so nothing really stood out. The break was toasted well, but I do wish it was a bit softer as it may have been to toasted. Should be toasted outside and soft inside, but this one just felt toasted all over. The meat portion also suffers from the same issue as the burrito as that it's not as generous as it could be. However, the flavors and taste were fine. It's certainly a nice place for those who want a bit of a different style of their Mexican cuisine. They have some flavors here that will be atypical of most of the cookie cutter taquerias around. While they are a bit expensive comparatively, the portions are actually decent (minus the meats). You can certainly be filled with just a single burrito. Worth a visit.

Our two plates arrived. Chilli relleno and Grilled chicken enchilada. I'm not a fan of the aesthetics of the smallish squair white plates. Reminds me of trying to look upscale. We own plates like these and that didn't work. Wife's enchilada plate was covered with three hot and very tasty chicken filled food bombs plus sides. The chili plate looked a little weak (too much plate showing) but that was the tastiest chilli relleno ever in 40 years of me enjoying these. Served hot with cheese filled up to the ying yang, an extra spiciness I have never had before that I loved and me wishing I had a spoon to scrape up the end of the sauce. Unfortunately the smallish rice and bean servings on both plates were luke warm and tasted so so. . I had similar hotter to those with tv dinners back in the day. They come out super crispy on the outside yet remain incredibly moist inside, with the salsa and toppings melding together perfectly. I also visited their new location today and was pleasantly surprised by the ample parking and comfortable seating. The space is beautiful, making it even more enjoyable to stop by for those irresistible fish tacos. Then she ordered a shrimp quesdilla and her cheese was burnt and he shrimp is orange. I asked for 2 tacos... with sour cream, guacamole and cheese on the side. It All came on the tacos. This has been a horrible experience and there is literally 6 ppl in here..4 ppl when I arrived. This is sad!! My tacos just came back cold. Her quesdilla is still burnt with yellow shrimp. We sent out food back 2 times. Did not request a 3rd time. However, Ricardo wants us to be happy. This time was better.
