Overall, it was an…read moreokay experience that delivered on the "healthier fast-casual" concept, but it didn't quite blow us away given the price point. The bowls are definitely built well. The components are fresh, and the sauces--like the Peruvian Green Sauce--add really nice flavor. For a to-go order, the packaging and speed are reliable, which is a major plus when you're on a tight lunch schedule. However, the main issue is the overall value. While the food is fine, it feels a bit expensive for the portion sizes. It's a solid, dependable choice if you need a healthy lunch in a pinch, but it doesn't quite earn that five-star recommendation from me.

Sonora on Main Street Do not let the location fool you…read more Tucked into a corner spot near the freeway entrance on Main Street American Fork, Ocotillo is easy to drive past and a mistake to miss. Step inside and you will find a beautifully decorated space with an open kitchen greeting you at the entrance and a staff that is genuinely enthusiastic about the food they are serving. Ocotillo specializes in the cuisine of Sonora, Mexico, a region known for bold meat and seafood dishes. They also offer a daily brunch menu that is worth planning your weekend around. We ordered the tres leches pancakes, a triple stack that delivers exactly what the name promises. Bathed in a three milk mixture and topped with fresh berries and whipped cream, moist but not to sweet. The Sonorense combination was equally impressive. Arrachera steak strips, chilaquiles made with poblano chile, a tamal de elote, and two eggs. The arrachera was excellent and the chilaquiles were crispy, which is exactly how they should be and not something every kitchen gets right. The menu is long enough that choosing something different next time will be a genuine challenge. Omelettes, chilaquiles, brioches, and other specialties give you plenty of reasons to return. We are already looking forward to exploring the lunch and dinner menu. Slightly more expensive than a standard breakfast spot, but the generous portions and the quality of the ingredients justify every dollar. Five stars without hesitation.

It was SO dark compared to the rest of the restaurant, which was fully lit. There was one little table lamp, and we literally had to pass it around just to be able to read the menu. Service was also very slow. After waiting several minutes, our server finally came over to greet us, only to tell us they would be back to take our drink orders. Unfortunately, the food was really bland and underwhelming, especially for the prices. I ordered the quesabirria tacos and only ate 1 of the 3. I had to drench the taco in the hot sauces it came with just to give it some flavor. My toddler wanted nothing to do with the fries or the kids' cheese pizza, and the fries honestly seemed undercooked. My husband ordered a burger and said he would've rather just gone to In-N-Out across the street. The ambiance and decor are definitely nice, but it felt like way more effort went into making the restaurant look good than making the food taste good. Service continued to be very slow throughout the meal, and it took forever for someone to check on us and bring the check. I'm not sure if it was because we came during their last hour before closing or because our table was so tucked away, but either way, the overall experience was disappointing. For the prices, we expected much better food and service.

Come for the Shakes, Skip the Tacos Let me be direct with…read moreyou: the food is unremarkable, if you are coming to Taco Amigo for the tacos, adjust your expectations accordingly. But that is not why you are here. Every summer Taco Amigo does something magical with fresh ripe strawberries and it makes everything else irrelevant. Their strawberry shakes are the real reason this place has a loyal following, and after one try you will completely understand it. Real strawberries, generous with them, blended into something that makes summer feel shorter than it actually is. When strawberry season winds down, the fresh peach shakes take over in the fall and they are nearly as good. Nearly. Yes, the wait on weekends during shake season is real. Go anyway. This is a locally owned spot with a friendly staff, a clean space, and something genuinely special coming out of that blender. That combination deserves support. My honest advice: eat somewhere else first, then stop here for dessert. Order the strawberry shake and find a spot to enjoy it. Five stars, every single one of them earned by that shake.
