We came on a Saturday night. It was pretty busy but we were able to find a spot for the 4 of us. It's a very casual space to hang out at and it is very loud (god I feel old saying that). Everything inside is wood or plastic so sound just travels so it's hard to hear people even in your group. It's a great idea-pay by ounce to try different things. You walk in and get the tapster card that you use to pour. As you pour you can watch how much you're pouring and the price on the screen. Each card has to spend $10. My group didn't get why the person checking in cards and checking out people was on a tip system. I'd been wanting to try this place for a while as its a novel idea in serving beer. As a self proclaimed beer fan (and also not a SLU tech worker) I was pretty disappointed and will not be back. Pros: - Nice, clean facility with good walkability and public transportation. - I like the glass selection and ability to self select your glassware Cons: - Beer selection was uninteresting and very routine. I expected at least some unique or harder to find beer in this 40+ tap format, but only found 2 that I was evenly remotely interested in. - The price is insane. This place is clearly priced for corporate or team sponsored events. This is not a place to go have a drink with friends. I paid 17 dollars for less than 3/4 of a 16oz glass of sampling 2 IPA. Thats when I left. - They request between 18-22% tip and all they do is ring you up. You pour the beer. You bus your table. There should be no tips as part of the checkout process. read more

This insta-worthy self pour bar is the latest happening place in Seattle. Got here on a Friday night and it was super super busy. We got lucky to sit on the swings which was amazing. Rest assured we did not leave that seating for the entire night. They have a variety of self pour beers and some wine options too. Loved everything we tried. So here is how this works: You go there and link your own credit/debit card to their card which you can now use as your own tab. Stopped by Tapster after hearing a bunch about it through social media and Yelp. I'm a huge fan of craft beer and the idea of self pour so you can try a bunch of different ones was very appealing. It's a $10/minimum per person and you hook up a credit card to the card they give you. Once you place the card in the slot with the beer you want, you're able to pour. Simple enough! One thing to watch though - it adds up FAST. You can get small pours but between my husband and myself, we easily spent about $45 after tip and it didn't feel like I had drank 3 pints...which is what I would've gotten for like $23. The vibe inside is really cute. The swings are fun and there is a good amount of seating both inside and out, The music is a little loud - not sure how I saw some people working in there, but hey, whatever works. Tapster has also partnered with a couple local food spots around the corner so you can order off a QR code and they'll bring it to you. We didn't get food but I'd check it out in the future when I come back! Space is really cute and trendy with the swings and wall art. Lots of casual seating and standing areas both inside and out. Was great to see so many people out and about in Seattle finally. Really enjoyed the citrus kombucha and blackberry hard seltzer. When you insert your card to pour, there is a running tab that shows up on screen so you know exactly what your tab is. Prices were also very reasonable! To cash out, you can just drop your card to one of the buckets which makes the whole experience seamless and relatively contactless. Would definitely come back! There's lots of flexibility with how much you want to take each time, as they charge you by the ounce. The indoor vibes are really nice as well, with some very cool swings and some tables. I do think there could be more seating indoors, but there's plenty outdoors as well. They have lots of board games and a Photobooth (additional money) as well, so it's a great place to go with a group of friends. I saw Tapster on Instagram a couple of weeks ago and have been wanting to check it out ever since. I went last night to meet up with a new friend for the first time, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience! The environment is perfect for any type of "date" -- whether it's with a group, a friend, a (potential) significant other, etc. We got there around 7pm and it was POPPIN!! I didn't think we'd be able to find a seat, but we were able to grab two chairs outside which ended up working out really well. They have a lot of seating indoors and outdoors (with some really cool swing chairs too), but I imagine this place fills up pretty quickly regardless of the seating options lol There were a good number of different drinks to choose from. I can't remember the names, but I ended up getting a seasonal Marion drink and a blackberry pear (?) cider. Both were absolutely delicious. I told my boyfriend we are going back ASAP so I can get that seasonal Marion one again. I really like the concept of this place. It's not the first "pour-your-own" bar I've been to, but it's definitely my favorite. There were a handful of different glasses to choose from as well, which was a nice touch. The service was average, but I guess we didn't have many reasons to interact with the workers besides when the checked our IDs and took our cards when we first got there. I'm not sure when they close, but we ended up staying from 7-11pm, enjoying conversation, drinks, and the atmosphere. I'm really happy I checked this place out. I think it contributed to a good first hangout with a new friend. :) I can't wait to come back and next time I WILL be taking pictures, so I'll have to update my review. AWESOME experience! I happened to walk by here on their soft opening and decided to pay a visit. The owner was kind enough to personally welcome everyone and explain how the concept works. Basically you can link your credit card to their card, grab one of the glasses, browse drink details (like taste notes, description, cost by ounces) on the tabs attached adjacent to the spouts, pour your drinks yourself and scan your store card on the tabs to pay for the poured volume by ounce. They have beers, wines, ciders, kombuchas and cold brews. It was great that I could sample (and pay for) smaller quantities to find what I like the most. The seating interiors are cool with swings, blocks and tables. They also have outdoor seating overlooking the lake union park. After my friends came back, one of the employees came to us and was like you guys need to go right now, some people have been complaining about your dog barking. There was zero warning at all... If he had been like this is your only warning, it would have been more professional. I felt like we were definitely not being treated as an equal human being in his eyes. We were so confused because we had literally just gotten our drinks... my friend was like can I try to finish my drink and he was like no you need to go. Even the people near us tried to stick up for us and say like what are you talking about to the employee but he was so stubborn when he spoke to us. Super cool concept and an extremely cute esthetic! I want to give this place 5 stars just for that but unfortunately there were a few down falls. The price is pretty spendy for what it is. It sounds like a good deal when you pay less than a dollar an ounce but once you pour a normal pint it's about $8 for their cheaper pours. You gotta be good at pouring out of a tap yourself otherwise your paying $8 for a glass of foam. At the end you have to drop your card off in buckets and all the buckets have different percentage of tips on them. So your forced to tip them even though your the one pouring and doing all the work. They did have a decent selection of drink to chose from though, and that was a plus! read more

Very friendly staff, but I didn't care for the environment. I shouldn't have been surprised that this place was packed at 5:30 p.m. on a Friday, but even then it was just so loud and noisy. We were volunteering in the area so stopped by for a quick drink. The beer selection is good, but when my fiancé and I checked it out I wasn't really in the mood for beer. I wish they had a bigger selection of self-pour seltzers and wine. The hanging chairs are super cute and depending on where you sit there are awesome views of MOHAI.
