This is a great, fun, welcoming, open, friendly crowd that is into the night's "entertainment". My wife and I are big fans and always have a blast. Also, the TALENT of many (most) of the people who show up and perform is really off the chart. You can really enjoy (be amazed) at what you hear, especially sometimes WHO it is coming from! Josh of Absolute Karaoke is the regular host for WED. He is a super pro KJ. And even if there is another host when you show up, they work for Josh and AK, so they will be great!

Aside from the awesome food - which I'll get to in a second - and the live music, I was most impressed by the bartender. He was super charismatic, super friendly and very funny. When I popped in with a group of 6 or so friends, he swiftly tended to us, made sure to introduce himself and took everyone's drink order. When it came time to get food I actually decided to opt out. It was nearly midnight and I had already eaten dinner hours earlier. But my friend next to me got a basket of fries and that's when it got hard to ignore the menu... The fries were AWESOME! In fact, they were so tempting that not only did I sneak a few, I actually asked to see the whole menu. Comprised mostly of about a dozen varieties of slider, I was super happy to see the variety. Suddenly my stomach growled and though I didn't want two sliders, I knew I could share with a friend. The only issue then was deciding which to get. I recall a buffalo chicken slider but only got as far as the fried bologna. HELL. YES!!! I ordered one and my buddy ordered another. (They come two to a plate.) My little slider was DELICIOUS! In fact, it was so good that I could totally envision making a trip all the way back to this bar just to have them again. So yeah... I'm a fan. The food is great, the bartender was totally rad, the live music playing in the theater was piped into the bar and the selection of beer and booze was just enough to satisfy. What a great little addition to the hood!

From the most prized (foie gras) to the more normal (frog legs) to the odd (beef liver). And there was what I had - the rabbit kidneys on toast. I love the inventiveness of this place. It's so easy to just serve the same cuts of meats everyone else does - the prized, fatty parts of each animal and call it a day. But when there's a place that decides to dive deep (literally) into an animal and produce its organs and put that on a plate for you, it's just very cool. When you see a rabbit kidneys on toast dish on the menu - you can't not order it. The dish was pretty much exactly what you would expect - a bunch of rabbit kidneys on a slice of toast, over a cream sherry sauce. I had no idea what to expect in terms of kidneys, but these actually tasted quite normal. The best way to describe them is they had the texture and shape of larger beans, but had a bit of a meaty taste to them. Nothing over the top in terms of flavor or anything - just solid. They seemed to have been grilled. There were also a good amount on the piece of toast. The piece of sourdough bread it came on was quite good. The edges were crispy, and certain parts were perfectly lightly charred without being too burnt. The best part was the inside - which was super soft. What really tied this all together though, was the cream sherry sauce. This was outstanding. Certain parts were above the bread but a lot of it was below, and just tasting it I was blown away by its richness. It was on the sweeter side, but complemented everything so well. The way it soaks the inside of the bread is perfection - eating that was my favorite part. For dessert I got the foie gras ice cream. This was also really damn good. When two very fatty things come together, you'd expect there to be a full blast of flavor, but this was actually milder than I expected. It's still slightly salty, and very rich, but the added wine helps make it a more normal dish. I could still absolutely have a full scoop of this though. The one thing to know here is the portions are VERY small. The rabbit kidneys on toast dish is literally a single slice of bread with about 10 or so kidneys on top. The foie gras ice cream is truly miniscule - it's the smallest ice cream you've ever seen. The server did recommend 2-3 small plates per person, but I didn't particularly feel like paying a ton this night. If you were to come with someone (don't recommend groups here - the seating is very small), I'd say you could share a bunch of plates and feel pretty happy though. I wanted to give a shoutout that this place has the price inclusive of tipping. It's just so rare to see that, and absolutely wonderful when it occurs. I ended up paying around 38 for my two dishes. Overall, while not quite truly special, this place serves inventive, delicious mini-dishes that are certainly worth a try. 9/10

Because with few exceptions, I don't think you can. I've been here three times now and two out of three times everything was perfect. Absolutely. Perfect. I've recommended it to others and heard similar back from them. I think it's one of the more exciting restaurants in Seattle, and while the observation about cramped quarters is spot-on, I would imagine they'll likely evolve beyond that venue at some point, and that will be a pity, because having them close by in Columbia City makes me very happy. So book the patio if you want shoulder or elbow room, and enjoy a meal al fresco. And yes, it's a more expensive place, portions are small. It's a fine dining approach, and I think that's fairly clear up front. If you want a big pile of slop somewhere, there are a ton of options to fill up more cheaply. But if you want demi-glace and pan sauces that are perfect -- PERFECT! And meats you might normally not find compelling, like rabbit livers and kidney and, well, offal -- suddenly made succulent and delectable, try this. The only thing I felt was sort of not worth the bucks was the rabbit skull. Just not much in it and getting to it was a semi-feral process. There was an assortment of bagels, and I got half of an everything bagel and - the one that several of my coworkers highly recommended - the rosemary bagel. Both go well with cream cheese. - The everything bagel was pretty standard; I could taste the garlic and sesame seeds throughout. Garlic was quite powerful on this one though, and I almost thought of garlic bread until I remembered bagels are harder to chew on. - My favorite was the rosemary bagel, just like my coworkers. I could taste the herbs clearly on this one; it was aromatic yet a little bitter. It was balanced with the saltiness already present on the bagel. Since I didn't go to their physical location - which looks like quite a walk from Georgetown - I have yet to see the inside of this place. Having some of their bagels makes me wanna go check it out someday!

I was really excited about this place coming to my hood. I headed there on Saturday to try them out. What they have done to the space is a VAST improvement. Their menu looks good, although to be frank, none of the juice combos really excited me.In any event, I ordered my juice and told them I'd wait at an outside table. They said sure and I waited...and waited...and waited. I finally went back inside and there was my drink sitting on the counter. The guy said lamely " Sorry about that..." and I bit back my reply. The juice wasn't even that cold and tasted like dirt. Very disappointed. Although my experience wasn't great, I hope they make a go of it. read more

Upon arrival to our house, the order was incorrect, whoopsie! We called back and the waiter who answered mentioned that we had accidentally taken a staff meal home. None of our to-go boxes were labeled. How could anyone know? This is a rookie mistake. It's been a while since this Goblin worked in food, but that's a non-negotiable. Especially given a place that prides itself on catering to restricted diets and lifestyles. This is exactly how you let a pumpkin seed slide into a seed allergy order. Instead of letting us keep the meal, she asked us to bring it back to the restaurant. We were happy to do so. Everyone deserves to eat. Should we have kept it for ourselves? We bring the food back, and the waiter explains that there was a mixup, and apologized. They handed us another to-go box (which wasn't labeled) and tried to end the conversation. "Have a good night!" We had to then explain to this waiter that our wives demanded something in return for the error, which was true. The waiter/bartender had a puzzled look on their face. Customer? Demanding I make something right? In my workplace?! A direct statement void of passivity about the quality of my service? With conditions? The audacity! We live in a world where we, the customer, bring back your incorrect order for you, waste our time, and we just get a, "thanks, have a good night!" This goblin had to claw his way up the ranks pillaging for gold which doesn't come easy. Everyone knows food cost in Seattle went up ~%46 since 2019. Wages haven't. We told the waiter our wives wanted a slice of cake. The waiter was shook by our audacity, and moved towards the fridge behind the bar to consult with two chefs who were shutting it down. We were arriving near/at close on a Monday. The other two chefs body language exuded "just give them the rest of the cake". There was a couple moments of pause and hushed conversation. The waiter pulled out a large serving plate with only a small chunk of Chocolate Mousse Cake left. Instead of putting that into a box, apologizing, and fixing the problem. They conferred about the legitimacy of our claim with the chefs. Hesitantly, they cut the cake into a small slice, put it in a box (which wasn't labeled) and handed it to us. What's hilarious is that they would leave such a small piece going into the next day of prep. Why not just 86 it right there? Why was it so hard for this person to acknowledge they made a mistake, and do something kind for us in return? The chefs clearly understood these fundamental building blocks of customer service, had they not been there in the front of house, I'm sure the waiter would've made an excuse to not remedy the situation. From all of my years in food service, if something is wrong, you make it right, end of story. By owning the error, you keep your integrity. Even a small gesture like 10% off one item, between the hours of 7:35pm- 7:45pm every third Monday, however inconsequential and trivial, makes people feel like you've made things right. These basics need to be addressed with FOH staff. With food cost nearing the price of rent each month in Seattle, customers should feel empowered to speak their mind respectfully. My only reason for going into excruciating detail is the hope that this can be a teaching moment, and more people can eradicate passivity. Passivity is a threat to community, culture, service, and so many other integral parts of our society. It's OK to disagree in public. It's OK to check someone. It's OK to tell your server "No, honestly, it wasn't that good, here's why..". When we deny the truth about our experiences for fear of disrupting the status quo, we withhold an essential part of building stronger, more diverse and resilient communities. "Goblin D, don't you think this is a bit too deep for a food review?" No, and if you've made it this far, the two stars are for the two chefs who made sure we got our cake.

TLDR: Food for disposable incomes with depression…read more Look, $26 dollars for a breakfast seems reasonable in 2026 (did I actually just say that), but you've lost the plot if it's served without a teaspoon of love or standard. Mind you, after tip, a meal for a single person would be about $30-$33 (without a coffee!). An hour and a half (or two) of your labor as part of the working class. It felt like everyone here, including the patrons, were just going through the motions. No one seemed genuinely excited eating the food, they just ate, with blank stares. They are trying everything in their power to avoid hearing, "Honey, OMG this is SO good, try some!" at their customers tables. I think back to when my Dad was cheating on my Mom and he bought the nice car, something wasn't right underneath all the excitement. I was excited that he got a "cool" car, but in a few months, our family was torn apart. For a place so proudly organic and local, the vibe is day-old Sysco and DMV appointment. Honestly, if they put a Waffle House here and you closed your eyes, you couldn't tell the difference. You'd like it more I imagine. The hosts and servers seemed tired and overworked, and the kitchen staff failed to execute for reasons I'll list below. Have you ever taken a fried potato home in a to-go box? What happens when it sits in the fridge? The texture becomes chewy. Fried food loses its crispy texture in the fridge because moisture from the food's interior and the surrounding air moves into the outer crust. Starch molecules in the breading absorb this water, causing the hard, crunchy crust to soften and turn soggy over time. So we aren't frying potatoes to order anymore, even for nearly $40? Noted. The pancakes. I enjoy golden brown and delicious. It can be a bit darker if you are using buckwheat, or blue corn masa, but why were they so burnt and then sent out? My humble opinion will always be that passivity of the clientele who have no food sensibility are afraid to speak up, so we are ALL at least partially responsible. Next, the sausage. Deflated and lacking any real flavor. Are Rosemary and Thyme supposed to taste like old water? If I knew nothing about organic food, I would hate it after this meal, because I would associate it with less taste, quality, and value. I can see how they fleece customers. You sell the fruit bar, people load up on fruit, feel obligated to pay for their gluttony, and then the cycle of violence against standards and the senses continues unabashed. And I know it's a problem, because when the place first opened, there was no, "1 trip to the fruit bar only please" rule. The fruit bar is bringing down this entire establishment. Get rid of it. It's probably not that safe or hygienic anyway, and then you've got this huge obligation to have mounds of fresh fruit available (expensive), when the restaurant itself is missing the basics. It also has flies swarming it. Yum! Larvae! This restaurant is proof that any "West Seattle food scene" is being carried by only a handful of restaurants. It is genuinely difficult to find any place worth the money in this neighborhood. To quote Will.i.Am of the Black Eyed Peas, popular amongst the tech elite who can afford to forget meals every day, "Where is the love?" With such an incredibly high disposable income in the area, it's hilarious the lack of basic food sensibility most customers in this area have. But this is the reality of what Seattle represents in a way. High stress, high income, with what little free time centered around spending money on goods and services to relieve oneself of stress and high income. Rinse and repeat, $7 donut. I highly encourage West Seattle residents to enroll in basic cooking classes with your disposable income INSTEAD of eating out. Learn about food, how to chop an onion, fry a potato, sauté. With this newfound knowledge, when you taste something that "ain't right", you can speak up with confidence. If you KNOW what good food tastes like and looks like, you can actually HELP. The reality is, the food scene here won't get any better, until the people eating know what is going on and speak up. Then, if management is competent, there can be a course correction. Nobody is perfect. So, avoid this place. It's unacceptable, even by middle of America standards. Lazy, loveless food.

For food we tried the halibut dish and the jerk chicken. The halibut was a standout. Possibly best halibut I've ever had. Amazing curry sauce and fresh vegetables. The jerk chicken was also good and I loved the collards that it came with and the pilaf. But that halibut was just so good. Chelan Cafe has been open since 1938. Ample parking for the cafe that also had an attached bar with adjacent patio. The cafe itself has a U shaped counter, a few booths, and additional seating in another dining room. The walls are adorned with local art prints and decor - very pleasant. Menu had a great variety and also had featured specials on the whiteboard by the entrance. The waitstaff really work quite well as a team. Our waitperson was very personable and smiled despite the tail end of Saturday's shift. It was our first meal of the day, mid afternoon after attending a memorial, so we were definitely hungry. The Homie ordered chicken fried steak with country gravy. This came with poached eggs, hash browns, and toast. I was surprised he did not opt for sausage gravy and a biscuit. I ordered the corned beef hash with poached eggs, hash browns, and toast. This was the type of corned beef where it is cooked on the flattop with crispy edges, like a smash burger. Poached eggs were perfect and I appreciated the opportunity to salt and pepper the hash browns to taste. We polished it off our respective entrees and were kindly well hydrated with large iced waters throughout our meal. Happy to note that breakfast is served all day, which is a major plus for me. Straightforward, no frills diner food. Been living on this side of sound since 1983 and this was my first visit. I'm glad that this diner has longevity as other similar spots have closed over the decades.
