Last year for my Valentine birthday we had a fun evening at Taproot but this year it was a total disappointment. Next year we'll definitely go elsewhere. We had a reservation so upon arrival we were quite surprised to learn we were dining in a different location than we had anticipated. Our table felt like it was in the middle of all the traffic and our food was just ok. My husband had the cod sandwich. The roll was too bulky and the sauce which is in place of tarter, he really disliked. Luckily, he had that on the side. My burger was really bland and dry. Last year the menu options were not only more tasty, but more enjoyable. Nothing like a birthday dinner out that falls short.

The dining area had a nice ambiance with plenty of ambient lighting. The yellowfin tuna and squash dish was amazing--it had lots of flavor and was perfectly prepared. However, I was disappointed with the chowder. It lacked flavor and had a very runny consistency. The strawberry crème brûlée was good, but the top was burnt instead of caramelized properly, which affected the overall taste. The service wasn't bad, but it seemed a bit off after I mentioned that the chowder was only "okay." My table also tried the monkfish tacos, and the Tap burger. I tried the monkfish but not the burger. Both received high marks from everyone there. Also tried the blueberry cider.. Mediocre.

This was our first time checking out the brewery part of Newport vineyards. It was a quiet day and there was lots of seating with great views through the windows the vineyards. Definitely recommend coming in the off season for quieter vibes. It's a busy place in the warm months. They had a lot of great snack deals and a full menu when it's the busy season. Their full pour for the Big Lebrewski was worth the trip!

What an awesome find. Great ambiance. Superb beer selections and super friendly servers. I had the White Stout and Red Ale and both were very good. We got the pretzel, which I expected to be a giant pretzel but was actually 3 smaller pretzels. Beer cheese was great, but the mustard will put hair on yourchest... pretty spicy. Loved my Magical Pig Pizza and my son said his Motha Clucka Chicken Sandwich was very good. I would definitely come back if in the area.

While in the Newport area visiting family for Thanksgiving we stoped here on a rainy day to check it out. So glad we did! The brewery staff was super friendly and the beer was great, my husband and I both tried flights to get a feel for a variety of the beers they had on tap. I tried Comet, F-Bomb, Happy, and Chaos. They were all great. Also their food is made from scratch, and is sourced locally farm to table. To say it's insanely good doesn't even do it justice. You have to go there and try it for yourself to understand it. Unfortunately, I don't drink wine so I can't give a review as to the wines they serve. The grounds of the winery itself are absolutely gorgeous. Definitely a place worth checking out if you're in the area.

James Greene was my waiter, and let me tell you--he was a treat. A very respectful young man who knew his way around the menu and provided excellent service throughout my entire meal.

Stunning atmosphere! We stopped in early in the day. Unfortunately needed a reservation, set one up for later in the evening. This gave us the opportunity to take a look outside on a beautiful November day. Gorgeous property! When we returned for the reservation- our reservation was lost (even though their employees set it up as we waited earlier in the day.) Luckily, as it was late there were tables available. My husband had a sampler and pregnant me ordered pretzels. Have to say- the cheese was delivered to the table with a skin layer on top like it has been sitting out for awhile. For such a nice place this shocked me. Also, it was a beer battered cheese. As we stop at breweries a lot to meet my husbands interests, I have come to love beer cheese. I was disgusted by the flavor or lack there of with Taproots cheese. I also found their pretzel hard and lacking flavor. I can say my husband really liked their beers. Infused with grapes. The gift store is really impressive! Large and lots of things to look at.

I asked for ketchup- this is what I got

All I can say is that I am so glad that we had a gift card for this place! Sydney was our server- completely ignored Daniel's request for a coke with no ice... there is more ice than soda still in his glass Plastic straws I ordered a glass of Moscato- It tastes like Chardonnay Sydney's response to me was that I must not be use to their wine. The sandwich I ordered was greasy The sandwich Daniel ordered was dry as hell And who puts pickled broccoli on a plate with a fish sandwich?? Will never ever be back Service and food needs to be better for local places to be regarded as special

Was visiting Newport and our beach day got cancelled bc of rain, so we headed here for a beer and wine tasting. Love that they have both a brewery and winery at the same facility. It worked out perfect for a wine-living gal and her beer-loving husband. We didn't have a reservation but the host up-front was super sweet and got us a table. Love how they are doing their beer and wine flights and we had a good time each trying four of them. We also got the chips and salsa and the salsa was delicious! Nice and fresh. Plus they had great music playing, which made the afternoon all that more enjoyable!

It was too chilly today to sit outside but the outdoor seating area and new mural look like a fun place to hang out with the water view right there (chairs don't look too comfy though, eek). The taproom has funky decor with local business stickers, horror movie memorabilia, mini toy machines, arcade games, and comfy bar stool chairs and armchairs. It's bigger in here than I imagined it would be. I got the Toasted Coconut Porter (love that it has a toasted note, you don't see that a lot). The first few sips were yummy but then it had a medicinal / syrupy note to it after that which I wasn't crazy about. The music is fun - heavy alt/indie/rock/emo vibes and ties in to the overall vibe of the decor and branding, I could see it being offputting to some if that's not your taste and you got a particularly heavy/screamy song, so head's up there. I like the vibe and want to hang out here again, so I'd try it again, although the types of beer they make aren't especially my favorites. Amazing location and will be fantastic to hang out once it's warmer!

Our server, Jenna, visited our table soon after we were seated and brought us water. We were waiting for other members of our party, and she never made us feel rushed or pressured. While waiting, we put in drink orders and the "Lavender Fields Forever" cocktail that I ordered (Rhodium Gin, lavender syrup, fresh lemon juice, snap pea simple syrup) was so delicious, and garnished with a beautiful sprig of lavender flowers. We ordered two appetizers: Point Judith Calarmari and Corn Arepas. The calamari had too many tentacles and not enough rings for me, but the arepas were excellent. The cornmeal base was crispy and hot, and there was just the right amount of meat and toppings. For entrees, our group ordered the Chimichurri Grilled Chicken sandwich, The rigatoni with pink sauce and sausage with crispy chicken as an add on, the short ribs over mashed potatoes, the Wood-Grilled Bone-In Pork Chop, and the Rib Eye Steak. We all enjoyed our entrees. It is evident that Iron Works uses high quality ingredients and puts a great amount of care into the preparation fo their food. We split three desserts amongst the five of us: The flourless chocolate torte, the cheesecake, and the Banoffee Sundae. The flourless torte was rich and very chocolately, and the cheesecake was very good as well. I'm not a fan of bananas, so I didn;t try the Sundae, but the friend who ordered it enjoyed it. After dinner, we sat and chatted for awhile,, and we never felt rushed or pressured to leave. This was a very enjoyable evening in a great restaurant environment with delicious food.

Ambiance is excellent, but my meal was quite literally inedible…read more I ordered a Caesar salad with shrimp and a side of truffle fries. Most egregious: the shrimp that came with the Caesar salad was POPCORN SHRIMP coated in SWEET-AND-SOUR sauce. I truly couldn't believe it. Why wouldn't the server at least warn me? To add insult to injury, my salad was overdressed and soggy. Also, the dressing was revolting. I don't mind anchovies for flavor, but the dressing tasted like an anchovy puree. I think it was maybe past its prime. I had one bite and couldn't continue. Inedible. And the fries. The parmesan truffle fries were drenched in mayonnaise??? I don't really care for mayo but I don't mind a drizzle or an aioli dipping sauce. However, the mayo to fry ratio was literally 2:1. I tried to wipe it off and it was still like a mayo-fry soup. Inedible. I took everything to go and just trashed it. I've NEVER done that before. This is a delayed review (meal was a few months ago) and I'm still rattled by how bad it was.
