Today I met Walli at my local Tap Plastics location, 3011 Alvarado St, San Leandro, CA 94577. I gave him a plastic challenge and he said, wait and give me a couple of minutes. My home screen door had a plastic bar failure and he cut some stock for me. In less than 5 or maybe 10 minutes he handed me a replacement bat of exact diameter and length. Out the door, tax included $ 2.30. I was thrilled. Walli is my kinda deep man. He is gentle and firm but he knows how to talk to someone like me with honor and respect. Walli, I think you are a Genius! Got a plastic problem? Go see Walli. read more

Needed to make another water barrier/hood for a custom LED fixture for a Reef Tank. Will helped me the first time and Gretchen assisted me this time. Everyone seems friendly and happy AND most importantly they have a really good grasp of their products and how things are assembled. I only have a limited need for plastics and don't go there often.I used to think that plexi was cheaper at box hardware stores. I don't think this is the case anymore. Plus, they are extremely patient and give you all the advice you need. Free granola bars and advice. Who could ask for more? read more

Really cool and well-stocked store. I went here looking for some transparent shapes to aid in drawing, and got a nice collection for under $8. The employee I talked to was direct and knowledgeable, and even gave me some special wipes to use for cleaning (since most solvents will degrade plastic). Their website inventory seems to be accurate. read more

You know that feeling when you're about to have a baby? Well I don't really know what that feels like but, I imagine that it'd be close to when Gretchen pealed off the protective plastic to my acrylic sign and I saw it for the first time. To my amazement I ordered it on a Tuesday and she sent me an email on Thursday that it was ready! By far, the whole experience with Gretchen and tap plastics was over the top. I was really beside myself with how amazing the whole process was from the time I first contacted her to the time I picked it up. If there were more than 5 stars, I'd give it a million. read more

I just want to say the Crew at the San Leandro have been so helpful! Russ the store manager took the time to explain to me what I had done wrong, but also what I had done right. I can't tell you how much I appreciated that, Russ YOU ROCK! Thank you for teaching some good tips/hints on how to glue up sign letters. Also When I have placed an order I can't tell you it's at my door before I even finish the order, Just kidding, but the order does arrive super fast. I will order my acrylic thru you, for the main reason YOU PROVIDE GREAT CUSTOMER SUPPORT, and your willingness to teach someone how to do something. I work for an auto company called Royal in Alameda. When I went here they had just closed for the day, that did not stop them from helping me as a customer with something I was unsure of. With everything going on with this Covid issue it was nice to be able receive the 5star service from TAP Plastic. Even before the pandemic, tsp plastic always went above and beyond to take care of me as a customer! I highly recommend this company to everyone their service is A1 as well as their products! This place also took actions so you can feel safe while shopping! The fact that the employee still helped me although they were closing for the day, that was fantastic! That proves that their customers needs are put first! Thanks for the wonderful support! read more

Almost got caught up in Prop 65 compliance. Enter Carlo. I explained my dilemma, Carlo sprung into action, crisis averted. We got the deal done, from concept, to invoice, in a few short hours. I truly thought it was not doable. Carlo took that as a challenge, accepted the challenge, and owned the day. Thanks to Taps, and Carlo. I will be back when the need arises. First choice! read more

Gretchen is awesome! I called around 5:30p today, asking what time they closed. 6:00p. I was stuck in traffic in Castro Valley and not sure I would get there in time. Gretchen asked me what I needed made - a piece of plastic cut to the size of a sheet of paper. She offered to cut it and have it ready when I got there. I arrived around 5:50p and she had it already cut so I could just "grab and go". FIVE STAR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Thanks, Gretchen!!! read more

I really like this place usually except I had a very different experience with Walli than the other reviewers. I found him exceptionally hard to communicate with, slow and generally poor attitude. Now maybe this was an off day for him but in previous visits the exact opposite of Walli's customer service was present, the staff besides Walli has always been super helpful and communicative just not true with Walli. read more

Starting a New Start up Business and as I shop along for the miscellaneous items to create the perfect space. Tap Plastics made it a breeze in working with my budget and options. I want to specifically point out the gentlemen named "Walli" who sets a new bar for customer service and knowledge of product. I'll be coming back and referring business partners to get the same experience I did from this company and specifically this employee. read more

The entire staff is incredible! I have been coming to TAP for different projects for the last 10 years. Every single time anyone who has ever helped me has been so helpful, kind and generous. They are never annoyed by how many materials I need to look at or how many questions I need to ask to get the best results for my projects. And not to mention what a well of knowledge they have. Recently, everyone has been really safe and wearing a mask. I just wanted to give TAP a huge shout out for being such a fantastic local community store for so long in the Bay Area. While driving by to avoid the heavy traffic on 880 I ran into this gem. Plastics everywhere and at a good low price. It is in the middle of an industrial area, you don't expect a retail plastics store. Regardless, they had so many things that I could use. In the end I picked up 2 small squeegees, and a 5 gallon bucket (red). I posted a lot of pictures from the isles so you can see just how much variety they house here. read more

We had a problem - and the folks at Tap Pastics took my design and nailed the solution to a T. Our two parakeets hang out on perch near a window that has a bird feeder on the other side to see the 'outside' birds. Unfortunately, our parakeets had gotten comfortable flying to the top of our blinds and tearing the material one thread at a time. Per my suggestion I requested they create a clear plastic cover for the blind headers. I didn't expect it to look or fit that well, but we wanted to save our blinds. The end result was a very well nice fitting clear plastic cover that allowed the blinds to be fully functional and did not detrack from the nice look of the blinds. The actual solution looked and worked better than what we had imagined. read more

I walked in with questions on how to cut and design an office directory sign. Alex Chan was the first person that helped but my interaction didn't go too well with him. He mentioned that they wouldn't be able to design an office directory sign and became very rude and acted like a Mr. know it all. His tone quickly became condensing, saying I would have to bring in my own design and then lectured on how TAP Plastics doesn't guarantee customer satisfaction once the design has been submitted. I assumed he was having a bad day at work so I asked to speak to his manager. His manager was very kind, apologized for Alex's behavior and helped design the office directory. The design, product, and his manager's customer service were excellent. I forget this gentleman's name but he was definitely the deal-saver in this transaction. read more

Whow! talk about professionalism vs. convenience? I'm glad I gave TAP Plastics another chance. Because of the unique product they sale I went to the San Leandro store after my dealings with the poorly managed Mountain View store and it paid off. Russ (manager) was helpful in many ways. He helped select the right parts for my design, helped get the stock on the truck and offered helpful stories about the use, strength and history of the material. Whow, a manager who loves his work, and treats customers well. That's rare these days. Yes I'll travel the extra miles to visit this store with my future projects because a knowledgeable sales team beats the hell out of convenience. Oh and Rusty in sale, thank you too! Great job. read more

I stopped by TAP yesterday with a simple project that I could have done myself, or had then cut and bond for me. Gretchen was there to help. She gave me an estimate, paused, then took the part out of my hand. "This is really simple, so let me just take care of it for you!" And so she did!! Who has to pause and think about declining an offer like that? Not me! GREAT customer service!! Gretchen is the best! Thank you. read more

I have never purchased a custom, extruded piece of plexiglass before so I was worried a that I was in over my head. I called a few places, but after talking to the knowledgeable and remarkably patient customer service reps at Tap Plastics I knew they were who I was going to use. They patiently walked me through the process, sling questions to fully understand my needs, and made recommendations that made all the difference in the world. In addition, my order came a day earlier than expected, which was a nice surprise. You'll be pleased that you contacted Tap Plastics. I just came back from TAP Plastics for the first time and feel compelled to write a review about the excellent customer service. I called ahead of time with questions that were answered by Gretchen, a very nice & extremely helpful employee. When I arrived a couple hours later she remembered me from my call & ended up being very proactive in helping me get what I want, and also being conscious that I was a little price-concerned. She said she likes to help out the artists that come in. It felt like she was there solely to help her customers leave with what they were looking for, and not just try to sell-sell-sell! I was mega impressed with her; it made the experience of going into a plastics store actually memorable and pleasant : ) I definitely see myself going back there. This team is great. I waited for about 2 minutes before someone came to help me. The gentlemen were extremely helpful. They cut my acrylic right on the spot. They both wanted me to bring in the frames that these pieces were for. They measured the actual frames. Then, after cutting the pieces, tried them out on the frames. They actually re-cut 2 of the pieces because they weren't exactly perfect! This was all for an extremely reasonable price! This kind of service and price are extraordinary! Thanks!! read more
