Not a lot of people in here these days. We stopped in and were greeted by Russ last night around 6, who was wearing a smile. We looked at some paint colors, picked up a couple samples, and went home to decide. Woke up this morning, went into the store and was again greeted by a smiling Russ :) we asked him to summon a paint specialist and he walked to the paint counter and mixed our paint. I am giving this store 5 stars JUST because it is NOT Home Depot. I refuse to shop at the San Leandro's Home Depot: missing staff, variations of pricing from what is posted from what you pay when you get to the cash register, absymal service, and you need a plane (which I don't own) to get around the store, and theft in the parking lot ! The OSH is so orderly and a calming expereince when you walk in. There is never a time I have gone in that store and not found what I was looking for. And you can walk and don't need a plane. And yes, they are not heavily staffed, but the staff that work there are pleasant and helpful. I also don't mind paying a bit more because I feel like I am not supporting chaos like I am when I go into the San Leandro Home Depot. Unfortunately, they don't carry home building supplies like Home Depot does - but there are other businesses that do. I will shop ANYWHERE other than a HOME DEPOT store anyway. BTW: I have not seen merchandise locked up at this store. So perhaps the customers that complained in some of the Yelp reviews here were heard by the OSH management - and "unlocked" the cases. read more

Is it a replica of OSH? maybe. it's looks like an upgrade. ala walking into Loews and not Home Depot. aisles are clearly marked, visually one can eyeball what each aisle holds. there's a broader selection not just the house brands. there's also more associates on the floor, although they seem to flock together. as a go-fer, (fetch this, get that), i prefer coming here, i'll be out of here in minutes. the parking? hardly anyone goes to Inside Spaces or Elios, so u have the whole lot to urself. there's also some funky food items near the cashier if u need something to munch on. I say that as set up is the same, familiar employees, green shirts and their rewards program...if you were an OSH member (not Orchard) you can carry over those points...mention your phone or email to check I always liked this place as it's not as overwhelming as the big home improvement stores and if you're a amateur/intermediate DIY person you can actually get some assistance and advice...always loved their garden section and guarantee program...so keep your receipt if you kill that plant... I want to compliment the store and all of the store employees. It's well organized and friendly and I never thought I would feel excited about taking a trip to a gardening store. On Saturday, March 11, I went to get some plant supplies and was met by a friendly face, Carlos. He politely asked me what I was in for and personally walked me to the first thing I asked about. While I was deliberating, I heard Carlos flow to another couple of customers and do the same. He was friendly and personable to each of us and sounded like he had already had return customers. For another couple of rounds, he returned to me and helped me find other items and answered my questions. I appreciate his knowledge and insight. It's the former Orchard Supply Hardware now back as Outdoor Supply Hardware. We've always been an OSH fan and was sad when they folded, but glad to see Outdoor Supply Hardware brought it back. It still reminds me of the old OSH, but with a new name and owner. If you're in the garden/patio area on the weekends, say "Hello" to Susan. She will help you find what ever you need and might convince you to purchase a green egg (BBQ). Too bad the new OSH didn't make the cut in San Ramon. I guess we'll have to visit the one in San Leandro whenever we're in the neighborhood. read more

This is a well-stocked and well-organized store! My parents have really turned out their yard this summer with plants of all sorts from Outdoor Supply Hardware. Being an apartment dweller, I don't have a yard, but I have been able to find things for my houseplants here. I do wish they had a larger selection of houseplants, but, if you have an outdoor space they sell tons of outdoor plants (ground covering, small trees, etc.). In terms of non-garden/outdoor related items they seem to cover most bases, but for certain projects you may find that you still need to go to a hardware store like Ace, or a larger big box store like Home Depot. Also, if you have a cat and get one of Outdoor Supply Hardware's boxes for carrying plants, it doubles as an excellent cat bed. read more

Came in to pick up a couple of things in the nursery. I stopped by to take a look at the house plant section and was pleasantly surprised to see several more rare house plants that are more difficult to find unless you buy them online. All help is very friendly, Very well stocked with items, usually of different brands, the slightly higher prices are well worth paying considering the fine environment verses the distance, lines and 'environment' of 'Groan Depot'. (how much is your time and quality of life worth?). Again, employees are extremely unfriendly and dodgy. I said hello to the cashier twice today with no reply except a glare and asking for my customer number and this is usually my experience here. No one asked to help me the whole time I was in the store and no one ever does. The store is now very empty and it's because of high prices and poor customer service. You can only get away with one of those. I'm almost done, I leave feeling bad or angry every time I shop here. Please improve or hire people that actually want to say hello, be friendly, or help. Just picked up a fresh Xmas tree for this holiday; staff was super helpful on the phone, as I called to check what trees they have in stock. Very friendly and helpful two women in the gardening / nursery section where you choose your tree. They provide netting + cutting the trunk a bit, at the bottom, along with loading the tree in your car. Noticed trees are about $10 more this year and about a foot less in size, although this is not OSH fault - it's the same in other stores, due to shrinkflation. Actually had to double-check the location with staff before I left home, since I thought this OSH location, next to Living Spaces closed; glad to know I was wrong! read more

I knew I could find what I was looking for without having to go up and down aisles with nobody to assist me but what I didn't expect is how polite, courteous and knowledgeable everybody was. I was returning an item this morning 12/16/21, waiting in line. I was only one waiting. Hispanic cashier saw me waiting , walked away, waited until second cashier called me over, then suddenly he takes white customer greeting him, (he saw me waiting said nothing). I am B Black retired female pay my taxes, don't rob, steal, worked 25 years at BART, and I do not feel like I should be treated this way in 2021. outdoor supply hardware needs to have a sensitivity training for their front line cashiers and perhaps their whole entire employee base. if the Hispanic at the front did not want to serve me perhaps he should go work at one of his Hispanics stires( they hire only Hispanic). I love this store before they went bankrupt. This location was the best ! I shopped several times since they reopened at this location. Their were two occasions , one being December 28 th 2020 and the other back in November, We're we were shopping and needed to use their restroom, both times the employees said , their restrooms are closed and not open to the public. Both occasions , we would have to leave outdoor supply, and go to Home Depot and give them my business, due to their restrooms open for customers. I don't get it , we shop at living spaces bathrooms are open right next door to them , so why are your restrooms closed at your location to the public. I hope the manager realizes , and addresses this . I love outdoor supply , but if I have to rush out because my wife has to go to the restroom , that's not cool ! read more

As a once frequent shopper of the now defunct Orchard Supply Hardware, I missed Orchard Supply Hardware greatly when it went out of business, so I was very glad to see OSH reincarnated as the new Outdoor Supply Hardware. I'd love to give this new OSH store a 5-star review, but the tool prices are just too high in many cases. I buy a lot of tools but some of their prices are just out of the world expensive. Most tools are a good 20% to 25% more expensive than identical items at the Home Depot. A few examples of prices on March 16, 2021: Eastwing I-Beam pry bar sells for $20 at Home Depot but it sells for $25 at OSH. Crescent 16" adjustable pry bar/nail puller sells for $20 at Home Depot but it sells for $32 at OSH. Crescent 19" forged nail puller (model 56) sells for $36 at Home Depot and also on Amazon, but it sells for $74 at OSH. In a pinch, if I needed something badly enough in a hurry, and with less than perfect information about what the same item costs at Home Depot or on Amazon, I might be willing to pay 25% more as a one-time purchase, but on a continuing basis, there is no way I'd be willing to pay 25% more day in and day out. If OSH would only price more competitively against Home Depot or Amazon, I'd be a much more frequent shopper there. read more

Honestly, this is the store where I feel the most respected and safe. I'm a woman, and going to the hardware store can come with unnecessary drama, everything from creeps to the mansplaining. I have never experienced anything but a safe and respectful environment with employees who are warm, helpful, and easy to approach. I appreciate that more than anything. read more

They are not that close to me but I know if I can't find it somewhere local, I can make the drive over here for it. Also in general it is a very clean and well kept store with a great selection. NONE of the DIY super-stores can match the inventory, the friendly service, or the accumulated expertise you find here. I have a long punch-list of 'do-it' items around the house... and OSH steps back to the front of the line for where I will obtain all the things I need. I left the store with a huge smile on my face.
