We used Artistic Stone to cut our quartz slabs and they did a great job, including doing much better looking "miter" cut (two edges meet at a refined 45 degrees instead of blocky perpendicular style). Many years ago we ended up finding the perfect quartz slabs from Artistic stone. I recall the service was mediocre, but no major issues (I recall they had recommended that the slab seam be located in the middle of the countertop, until I requested the seam be behind the sink faucet). First things first. 100 percent of the time,and every time we had any contact with Artistic Stone Kitchen and Bath employees, they followed Covid-19 safety protocols. I first called to see if we could come in after reading lots of Yelp reviews. Min, the very friendly woman who answered, transferred me to Helen. I discussed what we wanted and we set up a time to go into the shop. Min showed us around while we waited to meet Helen. I was impressed by the inventory, options, and the organized manor in which the stone was displayed. We then met Helen and we began to develop our plan to transform our kitchen. We bought larger pieces of quartz for our kitchen countertops so we wouldn't have seams.( really glad we did) We picked the tile we wanted and soon had the quote in our hands. We liked what we saw and we decided to sign the quote! A team came in, demo'd the original counter and wall surfaces coverings. A few days later or stone arrived and was installed. The next day the tile team professionals came in and did the tile work. The job was not completed fast but it was done correctly by people I felt confident about. My wife and I feel like we are standing in someone else's kitchen! I mean we have been in a lot of other peoples kitchens that looked great but we never had one like this! Our kitchen! Yes it is! Artistic Stone's name and Yelp reviews honestly freaked me out. It sounded super fancy, their website is super fancy, and they have an active and well-regarded Yelp page. This usually signals to me that a company is probably out of reach for us financially in comparison to smaller businesses without the internet savvy marketing and clientele reviews to yet inflate their prices. My spouse and I went to many countertop companies when searching for slabs of that marble-look quartz, including lesser-reviewed places without internet presence and large box home improvement at stores. We did a lot of research regarding name brands and country of origin for quartz, as well as considered warrantys. One of the most important things to me was the ability to create a singular slab for our peninsula so there's no seam there as well as incredible seaming work so where there unfortunately needed to be some, it would not be horrendous like some examples I have seen. When compared to other independently owned countertop stores, Artistic Stone wasn't the cheapest. There were two other places with cheaper, but they hid their costs in their installation costs instead. **Keep this in mind! Find out labor costs!**. In the end, it only appears as if Artistic Stone costs more than Granite Expo or whatever cheaper stores; when they put in all their installation fees, it all is in the wash. In comparison to large box stores, Home Depot actually came back to us with an equivalent quote but for a Made in US name brand quartz with extended decades+ warranty during their frequent sales. But the problem is that they contract out their installs and there is no way to guarantee their seaming work. Additionally, they were not able to produce a single slab to cover our whole peninsula, and that was an absolute must for us. Perhaps if one got a single-color countertop with no designs, it wouldn't be a big of a deal, but for ours, it was a make or break consideration. Benjamin was the original salesperson to help me pick out the pieces, and Helen helped us another day to get down to the nitty gritty in terms of matching seams from one piece to another. The way their minds conceptualize this all is astonishing; I got dizzy turning my head upside down trying to understand. Now this isn't to say our order came without a hitch, but that was not on Artistic Stone at all. In fact, Helen saved our asses. What really sealed the deal was Artistic Stone's installers. They have incredible staff, and Helen, Samuel, and the overseeing installation/foreman guy (forget his name) were flawless. Our kitchen is upstairs, we have narrow U-shaped stairs and there was no way to safely get the large peninsula piece of quartz that weighs hundreds of pounds with the 6-8 full grown muscle men to hold it. To say I was devastated is an understatement when they said I had to cut it and place a seam, and I just did not accept that since it was one of the main reasons we went with Artistic Stone. So Helen and her staff came by our house twice to figure out options. In the end, Helen helped us hire and coordinate renting a forklift and driver to bring the peninsula piece all in one piece to our kitchen. She took care of it all including calling for multiple quotes. Ya'll. The proof is in the pudding. Check out our photos and videos. I got multiple quotes for my kitchen and bath quartz countertop fabrication and installation. Artistic Stone had the others beat -- not dramatically (which would have made me nervous) -- but enough to make a difference. They also had better reviews than the others I was considering. A quick run through the cast of characters: Jake was my sales guy; David was my project manager; and Marcos was the guy with the magic stone touch. All were excellent. I'm skipping over one character: the subcontractor who the project was originally farmed out to, whose cuts were sloppy, and aim was poor. He couldn't cut a right angle to save his life. Thankfully, the folks at Artistic Stone didn't play games with me. They were quick to acknowledge and solve the problem, even though it ultimately meant demolishing and refabricating a full jumbo-sized slab countertop. The second time (with Marcos) was perfect. Photos to follow when I have the chance, but this was overall an excellent experience despite the bumps along the way. Our experience with Artistic Stone has been positive. They recently did my kitchen counters and backsplash. I initially had met a couple of times with Jesse in the MV location, but after visiting the San Leandro warehouse I began working with Jake Tran, who provided me with an initial quote. Both Jesse and Jake were extremely professional and great to work with, as we planned the project and had lots of questions. Both were very responsive to all my emails, answered my never ending questions, and Jake graciously put up with several changes by me along the way. One thing that seemed odd, is that once I started working with Jake in San Leandro and got the initial quote, I needed to trek up from Mountain View to San Leandro a couple of more times and no longer was able to visit the Mountain View store - even to just look at slabs. Perhaps in non pandemic times - this would have been different. I did shop around to look at kitchens and counter tops and got quotes from one other place, but went with Artistic Stone due to Yelp reviews and a neighbor's positive recommendation and experience with them. They had a nice selection of prefab slabs as well as custom and designer materials, and took the time to explain the different countertop materials. Unfortunately my first choices for materials were not readily available, but didn't want to wait and so settled with another material. After finalizing the quote and making a deposit for all the materials up front, I anxiously waited to hear back to schedule, which was the next day. Apparently they have been extremely busy, but was glad to be able to get on the schedule about 3 weeks out. From the time we were on the schedule through completion, Helen was responsive to any emails and questions I had, and always on top of the schedule and coordinating everything. The instructions on what was expected of us was clear, and the crew that came to demo and remove my old countertops were great. They were polite, professional, and very hard working. They cleaned up well afterwards. Because I previously had granite tiles with concrete underneath, it was probably a difficult job and as a result will need to patch up some visible sections of our drywall that slightly crumbled. Not a big deal, and inevitable - given the previous granite tile installation. Next (arriving punctually that same day) was Samuel and his crew to lay the plywood and make the template. They were all also fantastic (I wish I got all their names) as they carefully measured and prepared the template. They were always very courteous, considerate and professional, and did a great job installing the counter and full backsplash, as well as clean up. It seems that they take a lot of pride in their work. I am really impressed and very happy with the install and the work they did. There were some last minute stressful snafus days before the install when it seemed we might have to make some changes to initial plans and measurements, but it all worked out. She was always responsive and thorough. Eventually, I decided to work with Artistic on the project. My wife and I went to San Leandro and picked out our exact slabs. We landed on Namibia Sky quartzite. Remy and the other folks were very helpful and friendly despite having a lot of customers to manage. We set our date, and awaited installation. Installation was where these guys really shined. I bought pre-fab pieces, and really pushed the size limits of the pieces. The guys on site were able to make perfect templates despite the reality of my project being a bit different than the original plan. They were fast, polite, professional, and incredibly competent. I had quartz installed in my master bath. The whole process was smooth. Helen helped coordinate everything and the install guys were magical. Marcos, Gregory and Vernon did did the demo and install. They did an over the top job and were very personal with asking how I wanted everything. They customized it for me and recommended what would be the best look. I bought my Quartz counter top 2 years ago from Artistic Stone. Issued my souvie slow cooker at 150* heard a loud "pop" my counter top cracked opened! I was so shocked told my husband to see what had happened he also couldn't believe the 1/4" cracked! Took the souvee tub off the countertop 20 minutes later went to look the cracked contracted and closed up before I could take a picture. Call the company to ask if this has ever happened before? David the manager never returned my call. I definitely Would Not Recommend Quartz Countertops!! I had Granite for 25 years and never had problem with heat! Please choose something more durable and reliable if you like to cook and use you kitchen! I'm not going to rate this company as they didn't return my call or tell me at the time about Quartz not being Heat Resistant! read more
